Latest Stable Release: Version 12.1
Official Builds Here
GApps Download link
Changelog right below the download link for the official builds. Will be notified in posts for unofficial ones.
Same as CM14.1
You tell...
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing this ROM for the first time, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.
How to flash:
CHANGES (READ THIS BEFORE FLASHING!):
=====================================
YES. AICP is going to build rootless builds.
This change will be in effect mostly for any build on or after the 16th of June 2017
I could explain the decision for that,
but that would not be understandable for all users, so i put it this way...
Going rootless means that the ROM will NOT come with any Root or SU built in anymore.
There will be no Magisk - as a buildin root solution - be provided when the user flashes the ROM zip file.
You will have to flash a root solution of your choice (lineage-su addon, SuperSU or Magisk) by yourself after the ROM.
I will link the appropriate solutions here for ease.
REMEMBER:
First flash the ROM, then your desired root solution!
This MUST also be done on every dirty flash to ensure root is not lost!
This MUST be done, when using the OTA app too! Just add the "root" zipfile after the ROM!
Links to tested root solutions (download from the thread):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Magisk (remember that v12 need the Manager to be flashed separately. v13 will have it bundled the flashable ZIP:
SuperSU (Use whatever works for you, stable or beta):
SuperSU XDA Thread
-> the removal zip is available here too.
Clean Flash Instructions: (When coming from another ROM or another Android version)
Wipe /system, /data and caches
Flash ROM, GApps
Flash any of the Root Solutions linked above
Reboot system
Dirty Flash Instructions: (ONLY for upgrading from one build to another)
Reboot recovery
Flash ROM
Flash any of the Root Solutions linked above
Reboot System
KERNEL:
Kernel in this rom follows CM source.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash over OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
You can still use CWM and OTA app, but only to download zip file and flash it manually from within recovery. Zip gets saved under AICP_ota folder on your internal SDcard.
Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q)
Q)Do I void warranty by flashing this ROM?
A)This is OnePlus
Q)Can I flash an official AICP build over Unofficial and vice-versa?
A)Yes. It is possible. But flashing Unofficial over Official will break OTA's and you will need to manually download
ROMs from our website
Q)Can I dirty flash a newer nightly on an older one?
A)Most of the times, if on the same ROM, then you can always dirty flash nightlies. No Need to wipe stuff if you
are updating nightlies
Q)Can I flash XYZ kernel over this ROM?
A)Install whatever kernel you want but don't report non visual bugs from a kernel that's not shipped with this
Q)Xposed support?
A)No official support if you flash Xposed. When you are reporting a bug, make sure you check twice that the bug is NOT
caused due to Xposed Module.
Q)Can I flash SuperSU ?
A)ROM comes shipped with CM Superuser and it has been sufficient for me for all of my purposes. But I guess you can try
a working SuperSU. Do check at their official thread which ones to flash.
Q)I have loads of google apps FC'ing on clean install. Help?
A)You most probably might have flashed GApps after reboot. DO NOT flash GApps after reboot. Flash GApps during first boot itself. I recommend using Banks Gapps or Open GApps.
Few Norms For A Good Clean Thread
Slight OT is accepted.
Do not report bugs caused if you have third party mods UNLESS you know they're not the cause.
Please do not mention stuff like Lucky Patcher or Aptoide etc here. I'm fed up of those.
Be polite while asking/stating. Don't try to be sassy or sarcastic where unnecessary.
No posting of homescreen setups etc here.
While reporting any bug, make sure you give me a logcat or at least decent steps to reproduce the error.
I am a college student and I am not free 24X7 , so do not ask like I work for you. I need time to reply.
I will never merge anything without testing first, but in the case where a build doesn't boot, and you're sure it doesn't boot even on a clean flash, search a few pages before posting. If no one has mentioned then feel free to post here to help others. I will look into it as soon as possible.
You can talk anything about OnePlus One development here as long as it is related to our device and this ROM. Suggestions will always be welcome.
thanks for sharing
Excellent rom. I have been on kitkat for the last few months since I was tired of the poor battery life in LP and MM roms. This is the first rom I have seen, either LP or MM, that has a kitkat-like battery usage profile, with the screen using around 4 times the power than the system or any other process. That, along with the high amount of customability means that I will no longer have to use KK. Thanks!
@Raienryu do the current builds have the same fixes from the last build you posted in the previous thread?
So, I've reverted the QC Location Stack commit and also added some Ambient Display based gestures. The following build also contains the latest July Security Patches and has the new revision tag merged.
Yep. The official nightlies have those commits merged in.
Just flashed. I was in love with AICP Hurricane. Looking foward to testing this out! thanks!
Hey everyone, Halo from AOSPA (the notification bubble from the kitkat AOSPA) has been merged into AICP yesterday and will be available from next nightlies. Thanks to the AOSPA team for open sourcing it.
Note that having Halo enabled will disable heads up.
Have fun
Thanks a lot, this rom is awesome. I've only a question, sorry for that: this rom is not CAF, isn't so? Can i flash camera HAL? I'm looking for the best in camera
By camera HAL , if you mean for the OPPO Color OS camera, then yes. You can. I tried it some time ago. Didn't face any issues.
And yes, this ROM follows CM13 device sources.
No, i mean Camera HAL that is a mod version of camera by Sultanxda from OxygenOs. Another version is Snapdragon camera that use the CAF (CAF is cm based, am I right?), can I flash that too?
Sorry to bother you, i would ask another think: i can't set on "Now Everywhere" in the settings of Google Now. Is it a common problem? How can I solve? Thank you
Camera hal (blobs) are inbuilt and can't be flashed. If you try to inject the lib files you'll break the camera..
I am extremely happy to find AICP for bacon. I will tell you why below.
Among other devices, I have a samsung galaxy s2 i9100. I was using official CM13 nightlies on that for 1 month. The ROM is stable and smooth but the battery life is awful. The Android OS would keep the phone awake ALL the time. The battery graph would be a downward sloping ramp and it would not last for more than 12 hours.
Day before yesterday, I flashed AICP ROM for i9100 and voila, android OS keeping the system awake problem was solved. The battery graph was horizontal
Both the tests were performed by clean flashing with pico opengapps and no apps installed.
So, clearly AICP has something going right.
I would request @Raienryu to please try and point out what is AICP doing differently in this regard that makes it able to do so well.
I love the fact that a custom ROM does better than official CM. The dev there seems to only merge the common CM commits and would not do any developments specific to the device.
Thats why I trust AICP to do well on all my other phones as well
Glad you liked the ROM.
I don't know about i9100 , don't have it. But as far as bacon is concerned, the only change we have from Official CM is a commit that has been reverted. It's well known in the bacon community to save battery and decrease heat too.
In case you're interested, it's this one commit that we have wavered from CM.
Im dirty flash nightly 9/11 over 8/11 build, and have problem with lockscreen always blur, already change at setting but always blur.. And sometime my phone get hot(this already happen with 8/11 build)...
But over all i love this rom, thanks sir
Have you tried with AICP nighlty build the new revolutionary systemless method to root and have Xposed, called Magisk? Here is the official link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-magisk-v1-universal-systemless-t3432382 . This method bypass Android Pay and apps like Snapchat that verify the presence of Xposed and root. I can't figure how to install on custom roms like AICP
Hey guys.
AICP 12.1 based on Android N 7.1 is out for our device.
Nightlies are up and running. Get your first build from the download link in the OP. Follow the proper instructions from the same.
Do not dirty flash if on a previous android version or if on a different ROM.
Check out the features in the second post.
Make sure to flash the proper version GApps.
Have a nice weekend ?
Oms or legacy?
Since i didnt read it in features, thx
Don't disable Heads-Up. You wont be able to answer phone calls otherwise.
You tell...
ROMS should contain everything you need to enjoy Nougat. You are not required to install any Add Ons, simply download the latest ROM, gapps, flash it, and go!
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.
How to flash:
CHANGES (READ THIS BEFORE FLASHING!):
=====================================
YES. AICP is going to build rootless builds.
This change will happen during a short period of time.
I could explain the decision for that,
but that would not be understandable for all users, so i put it this way...
Going rootless means that the ROM will NOT come with any Root or SU built in anymore.
There will be no Magisk - as a buildin root solution - be provided when the user flashes the ROM zip file.
What you will have to do (If you don't do it by now):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You will have to flash a root solution of your choice (lineage-su addon, SuperSU or Magisk) by yourself after the ROM.
I will link the appropriate solutions here in this post.
REMEMBER:
First flash the ROM, then your desired root solution!
This MUST also be done on every dirty flash to ensure root is not lost!
This MUST be done, when using the OTA app too! Just add the "root" zipfile after the ROM!
What will be noticeable to the user:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. We had to cut out some features for getting this done. Those are:
a. The SELinux switch in the dev options is gone for now.
This can also be done by other apps, if necessary.
b. The feature to flash another bootanimation from AICP Extras is gone.
You can still use a flashable ZIP from TWRP or Substratum.
c. The builtin logcat feature in AICP Extras will be gone.
Most users did not use it either as it only can store max. 400KB.
We already advised to use Catlog or Syslog Apps (both free on Play store).
Remember that both need root!
d. The builtin "System app remover" will be gone, as it required root to run.
2. You will, of course, not see Magisk Manager in the app folder, of course.
3. Remember that without a root solution some other apps e.g. Kernel Audiutor will also not work.
Whatever you choose. Lineage SU options are in dev options in settings. The others use separate Apps.
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, the Rom has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LAOS) we are now LAOS based with some tweaks from AOSP.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or the LAOS team will if it concerns their code base. This rom isn't LAOS supported, so no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, Maybe.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. How do I enable software buttons?
A. Go to Aicp Extras/Navigation bar, and enable it.
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. I keep losing root with Magisk, how do I fix it?
A. Check this out. If that doesn't work for you, ask for help in this thread, read or ask in the Magisk thread on XDA or just re-flash Magisk!
Q. I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
A. Read this
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Oreo. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
6.Flash the keyboard fix and Cam fix
7. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
8. Reboot your device.
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the deivce, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine
The face unlock function is broken. That function in Pixel Exprience is broken too. I installed this ROM in the hope of being functional :crying:
Edit: By searching for "android 8 face unlock stopped working" and related, I found this: github.com/opengapps/opengapps/issues/555
By reading this post, I found this comment, and after flash that zip file, the Face Unlock is fully functional:
"KKire commented on 10 Jan
Facelock-all.zip
I modified the script to work on all devices becuse it was failing on my OnePlus X.
Thanks man, running on 8.1
Original zip by subinsmani"
I don't know if I've permission to share this file, but information is information, and my job here is done.
Don't know what's the problem for you
buT here comfirmed by a user that volte is workin
Amazing job, super estable and exceptional battery life, it has the best battery life of any Oreo Rom I've tried so far.
Now, I've got a HUGE problem with the GPS, it doesn't seem to see, much less lock on any satellite, I've let GPS test on for about 15 min and nothing.
And I would love if you can get the long press on the power button to start the flashlight, this is a minor annoyance tho.
AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, the Rom has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LAOS) we are now LAOS based with some tweaks from AOSP.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or the LAOS team will if it concerns their code base. This rom isn't LAOS supported, so no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
You tell...
FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. How do I enable software buttons?
A. Go to Aicp Extras/Navigation bar, and enable it.
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. I keep losing root with Magisk, how do I fix it?
A. Check this out. If that doesn't work for you, ask for help in this thread, read or ask in the Magisk thread on XDA or just re-flash Magisk!
Q. I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
A. Read this
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Oreo. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
3. Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
6. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
7. Reboot your device.
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every OTA update (= ROM Update)
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine
KERNEL:
The kernel in this ROM follows LAOS source with custom additions.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA:
To be able to flash using the built-in OTA app, TWRP recovery is needed.
You can still use the LAOS recovery and OTA app, but you will need to download the zip file and flash it manually from within your recovery. The Zipfile gets saved in the "aicp_ota" folder on your internal storage.
Please be sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery. Keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
BTW, we got a Discord server going for the op2, come and join if you feel like discussing.
Rom looks good, but the SIM card reports as missing even though it is there and the network works. What doesn't work is voLTE w/ TMobile, but that may never work with these Oreo roms. They are slick enough that soon I may pick one over stock rom, even though it does run voLTE and wifi calling.
3.5+ hours SOT with WiFi and standard usage. Not great, but not too bad also.
April 23 build of crDroid and Lineage ruined my phone's battery life and I couldn't connect to cellular data anymore. I'm booting into aicp for the first time right now. Must say, that's the best ROM bootanimation i've ever seen!
Edsit: nope doesn't work either. back to crDroidAndroid-8.1-20180409 I guess
Thank you for the rom but I notice the signal is not that great. On my Nexus 5x no problems with the signal but oneplus 2 having no reception. Any Suggestions?
I installed 03/04 yesterday and got the ota notice this morning. It updated flawlessly. Seems very smooth and noticed no issues so far. Where is the default wallpaper stored? It's a keeper.
Would it be possible to add an Always On switch for Ambient Display? This is a very convenient feature. Also, any change of omni recents in the future?
Thanks for brining us this rom.
No, don't think it works on any aosp roms
1. The default wallpaper is in the aicp tiles app https://github.com/AICP/packages_apps_TilesWallpaper
2. Sure I disabled aod because we have an LCD display, but yeah if people want it anyway it's no hassle to add it back
3. I'll look into adding Omni recents
To confirm, this still requires Oreo and hasn't been updated to require Pie like LOS16?
Yeah
Clean install of 3/13 w/full gapps this morning. Everything working smooth so far. Thanks for adding the Always On switch for Ambient Display.
Does this ROM support BKL-AL00?
Clean installed 3/20 yesterday. Running well, as per usual. Going through the battery quicker than previous versions but I just changed email clients so that may be the issue. Will monitor it.
If you're using open gapps pico the next build will fix that, or you can use nano gapps for now (turbo was removed), otherwise I'm not sure what the issue would be
I always use opengapps full. The new email client I'm trying, Nine, is all singing and dancing and could be causing the drain. I might try an install with nano just for fun to see if it makes a difference. Thanks.
The next build will require the emui pie firmware, the kernel will not be included in the rom zip so it will work on both L04 and L09
Go back to emui and flash the firmware using no check recovery and firmware finder
The new build that requires the pie firmware is up, opengapps will not work, use this https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1395089523397894328
Also make sure you're on the latest twrp https://dl.twrp.me/berkeley/
Error when flashing.
Latest twrp and rom from links provided. Also gapps from link provided. But always error 7. Any help is much appreciated.
Hmm. Ok. I'm on version 210. I'll see if I might be able to get back to 202 and try again. If not I'll get the log and post it. Thanks for the quick reply.
AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Android Lollipop, the ROM has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LOS) we became LineageOS based with some tweaks from AOSP and we are now based on the "Ground Zero Open Source Project" (GZOSP) for Android Pie.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or the GZOSP team, if it concerns their code base. This ROM isn't GZOSP supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.
*
*/
Feature list (rough overview)
In the beginning we would like to thank:
LineageOS & CM (R.I.P.) team
@maxwen and the rest of the OmniRom team
plus the rest of the crazy bunch that we call "team"
We are paying for servers that build nightlies/weeklies and everything that comes with it, so EVERY DONATION will really be appreciated and be used to cover those expenses.
Thank you!!
FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look here to see what day your device is built on.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels officially?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP. Custom ROMs modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROMs. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. Xposed is not yet released for Pie, however you can try to use edxposed .
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot" as the destination, then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash and reboot afterwards.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
A. Read this
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.)
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Pie. You don't need to install any Add-ons, simply download the latest ROM and GApps, then follow the flashing instructions and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup (or with any backup/restore app) as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug, restoring regular apps is fine though.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know!)
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Cache, and Data (you might need to format the data partition!).
4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work).
6. Reboot and set up your device, enable developer settings and in them OEM unlock/Advanced reboot/USB tethering.
7. Reboot back into TWRP recovery.
8. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
9. Reboot your device.
The procedure may vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once! This might differ on AvB Devices.
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions >= 17.2 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates):
TWRP recovery is needed to be able to flash using the built-in OTA app.
Please make sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery, keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
On encrypted devices you will have to enter your PIN/password in TWRP before the process starts.
I've been using this ROM and it's awesome! The only thing is that maybe the mic volume is too low? Is there any way to increase it?
Edit: Nevermind, I solved it by changing the Microphone Gain in kernel (Radium Kernel 4).. Thanks anyway!
After waiting from my Motorola warranty to expire I rooted my G5S last month and installed this ROM. It has breathed new life into my phone. I replaced the Motorola warning with a Motorola G5S boot logo and installed Gapps 'pico'. Everything is working smoothly and my battery life is much better. Thank you.
Dose Volte work properly ?
It's an excellent rom.
I flash this rom this morning for my moto g5s xt1799-2.
aicp_montana_r-16.1-WEEKLY-20210927.zip
montana-motog5s - Browse /AICP/AICP-16.1 at SourceForge.net
sourceforge.net
Android 11.
64bit.
VoLTE works well for my xt1799-2. China telecom. (Baseband is 75R (moto stock 8.1.0 firmware baseband).)
Lots of customization settings.
Screen recording works well when 'Record audio' turns on. (Pixel experience plus 11.0-20210723-1710 and Arrow-v10.0-montana-UNOFFICIAL-20201112-VANILLA will crash when the screen recorder turns on the 'Record audio' function.)
ZRAM 1365MB.(Can turn off by using 'Scene4' app, root needed.)
Magisk 23.0 installs and boot successfully. (Pixel experience plus 11.0-20210723-1710 will fail to boot the system after patching and flash the boot.img file.)
Call recorder works fine. Voice recorded from it is very clear. (Pixel experience plus 11.0-20210723-1710 doesn't have call recorder. The call recorder of Arrow-v10.0-20201112 sometimes can't recorder the incoming voice. The sound recorded from the call recorder of LineageOS-18.1-20230401 is very noisy. Unable to hear the talks clearly.)
Even smoother than the lineageos 18.1 (android 11).
Fringerprint works fine.
Battery is also terrible, it drains very fast even I don't use it, just as bad as the lineageos 18.1 (android 11). I think that is because of the increasing of ZRAM (1365MB) and the cpu frequency!
Compare to moto stock oreo 8.1.0 with the same settings:
After 8 days, it (moto stock oreo 8.1.0 rom) still has 20% battery. Battery won't drain if I don't use it.
But in AICP 16.1 (android 11) and lineageos 18.1 (android 11), battery is just too bad!
Yes, android 8.1.0 or 9 would be perfect.
Android 10 is I'm not so sure. I flashed lineageos 17.1 build 20201115 last night. After 9 hours not been used, battery drains 11% (including 2% system use). It drains 7% from 9:30 to 13:00!!! I'm doing nothing to the device during that time! That build lineageos team increases ZRAM from stock 511M to 1.33G.
But not android 11 (battery in 11 is too bad.)
Lineageos 18.1 (android 11):
AICP 16.1 (android 11):
ZRAM is also 1.33G (Since it use lineageos 18.1 to build it.)
I flashed near 10 different lineageos versions last night. I'm very disappointed to know what is lineageos team going on!
The 'unable to copy any file from device to PC' bug lasts that long time without being fixed until late android 10 version, lineageos 17.1 build 20201115, which is the second from last version of lineageos 17.1!!!!!!
Dating from the first lineageos 15.1 (android 8.1.0) , through lineageos 16.0 (android 9), only in the second from last version of lineageos 17.1 (build 20201115), the bug was fixed!!!! What the h-e-l-l! Since the other third party roms also use lineageos to build their roms, they take the same bugs to their roms! Such as, crDroid, Pixel Experience Rom, AICP OS,......, all have this annoying bug!
What's worse, they deleted some useful fingerprint gestures in lineageos 17.1, such as 'screen-off: long hold fingerprint to turn on display' and 'screen-on: long hold fingerprint to turn off display'. These two gestures I've been using since lineageos 15.1 (android 8.1.0)!!! I stay in lineageos because of them! That's why I want to find the old verion of AICP roms!
Last but not least, they did something that should not be done! They increased ZRAM to 1.33G (in lineage-17.1-20201115) which makes the battery very terrible while the front camera can only be used in that version for my xt1799-2...Da*n!
