I am using a Ginger DX 2.3.7 released last year.
I trying to flash the ICS kernel and keep failing. End up I just realize I haven't unlock the bootloader. I attempted many things in my flashtool to unlock it but still fail to unlock the bootloader.
In the flash tool:
I pressed for APK installer
I pressed for recovery installer
Ended up my phone's boot screen Stopped at "sony erricson".
Is the flashtool capable to flash back the generic kernel and ROM at this moment?
I just try to flash the generic kernel i downloaded:

check this pic it says repair click on it then follow instructions on screen
I had an Xperia U to repair.
failure: continuous reboot at startup
sw installed: Slikat 4.4.2
bootloader: unlook
I installed ICS original sony ftf
booted everything seemed fine but to turn on the wifi the problem is back ...
I tried various threads to no avail.
in particular, the original thread from the official site sony on changing
File: wpa_supplicant_bgscan.db ..... but going to check the file with root explorer.....
FILE WAS NOT PRESENT IN THE SYSTEM OF THIS PHONE!
Then I tried this procedure on this XU worked:
rooted ics rom installed
install WiFix Manager 1.2
start the program. After choose your own time zone-my, check
advanced setting EU instead of U.S. install. start: installing WiFix.
exit without closing the program and
Enter code from phone dialer: * # 94 349 #
I think now the wifi will work ',
then go to: settings / wireless / advanced / option (keep wifi active during sleep) choose option: only when connected
but on my xperia u closing the display will freeze or reboot the wifi again!!
go in data / misc / wifi - WiFix 1.2 created the file: wpa_supplicant_bgscan.db!!
with root explorer go to the file and give all permissions in reading,
remove all checkmarks in writing (I think this is the problem of freeze)
put the check only: Run: Owners only.

A good tool based on Windows batch commands. It has a few commands for now, (already 200 lines, but alright ...) but I will keep updating it and make a good release. It works for now, but not everything is correctly yet.
DownloadSource #1: GitHub
How to useOpening programAll tools/options1. DISM and SFC Repair - Use this option if you want to check your computer of corrupted Windows files, and recover them if needed.
2. Create Restore Point - Creates a restore point with the name 'Restore Point'. (I might update the name in the future to use something like the date, need to look into that...)
3. Windows IP Configuration - Checks the network settings and show information about the network adapters using the IPCONFIG command.
4. User List - Shows a list of all users that exist on the PC.
5. Check Windows Version - Opens WINVER.exe, from where you can check information about the version of Windows.
6. Ping Tool - Allows you to ping a website.
NOTE: don't add ping before the command! So 'ping -t google.com' becomes '-t google.com' here.
7. N/A yet.
8. Open Terminal - Allows you to open a Windows Command Prompt. (Still need to fix something there).
9. Credits - Shows all the credits for the program (Currently me and Microsoft. Microsoft for developing the possibility to make those easily-to-develop programs)
10. Tool Information - Shows information about the batch file/tool.
11. Exit - Closes the tool.
