***I will update this post tomorrow to clean up and add screenshots***
The image provided is for G530AZ but the howto will be for all models.
I recently hard bricked my prime trying to unlock the bootloader, overwrote aboot and sbl1. The phone was dead. no power, no sound, no nothing.
Luckily for me I had access to an identical phone and was able to create a sd card that loads all the 'hidden' partitions (aboot, sbl1, recovery, boot and whatnot)...and after a day of heartache i was able to recovered my phone.
Unzip the debrick.img
Write the image to a blank sd card with win32 diskimager
Put in the card and power on with -Vol+Home+Power, download mode will run from your sd and you can flash the full firmware with odin
Img creation method 1:
Su and busybox are required.
In your favorite terminal emulator
Type
su
Click to collapse
Allow su permission
busybox dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/debrick.img bs=1M count=128
Click to collapse
This will create a raw image of the first 128mb of your phone in the root of your phones internal memory.
Connect to your pc with usb and copy the img to your pc.
Then write your image to a blank sd with win32 diskimager
Img creation method 2:
Place your phone in downloader mode by powering the phone with on with -Vol+Home+Power pressed.
Extract the pit file from your full firmware tarball. Flash the pit and tar with odin like normal, except this time tick tflash.
It will more than likely fail writing the system partition, if it made it that far your sd should still work, as all the important partitions come before system.
Once you're thru and would like to use your sd again format with something like this free formatter

Nice guide.
I installed TWRP and my GRAND PRIME sm-g530bt does not turn on. It does not go into fast boot mode. Only a blue and vibrating light is blinking.

Hard for me to be specific when you were not specific.
There's the img and two different methods of recreating it yourself, what's not working?
But I do not own this device anymore, so any advice from me is just a guess at this point.
I downloaded the debrick image and exstracted it to my computer and then i put it on a blank sd card and then i used wins 32 disk imager and and used the write button and it put it on the sd card put in the phone nothing happened. Im sure i did it wrong.i do have a phone just like it what can i do.please help.

Did You Put debrick img in Your Sd Card and Chose this in Win32diskimager to Write? Or You Chose The One Which Was Downloaded at Your PC?
I used the one that you have on here it says it's corrupted, put your file on my computer extracted it then I put a new sd card in reader pluged it into my phone, then I found the file I extracted sent it to my sd card, opened wins 32 disk imager selected write it said successfull, put it into the phone powered it up nothing, I know I must be doing somthing wrong, it says it is a blank image, is it maybe that I copyed it directly from your link on xxda? Can you tell me where I can directly download the link? What am I doing wrong? I have three of these phones, can I use the good one to fix the bad one?

Use The Debrick Image Which You Got Downloaded to Your PC to Write in The Win32DiskImager, and Before That Format Your Sd Card in FAT32 File System.
Yes, I did what you said, but nothing, but I put the sd card in my other phone which is the same as my as my broken one, and it just stays on the logo, I wish I could put all my information off my good phone on to my sd card and put the sd card into the bad one to boot it up, if that would work, ?? I apologize for nagging you, I just wish I could get it to work,

Hi there
Im new to the forum, but I have tried and wasted hour after hour but I cannot root my G2 which is locked to T-Mobile UK and has the 2.73.110.26 CL#69351 release keys software. This software is impossible as it means that I cannot follow the instructions to root the device (as listed on unlockr.com). This is because I have to downgrade the software to 1.76.110.6 in order for the flashrec software to install. So I downloaded the 1.76.110.6 software (update-hero-t-mobile-1.76.110.6-signed.zip) from this link:-
and followed the instructions here:
The patched recovery image is your gateway to Custom ROM installs and all sorts of cool stuff... here's how to install it onto your device.
- download this file and extract it to your PC or mac
- open a command prompt to the directory containing the extracted files
- type the following commands appropriate to your device / pc...
GSM Hero (a Hero with a SIM card - e.g. the European Hero) on WINDOWS
CODE
adb-windows shell reboot bootloader (wait for device to reboot into bootloader)
fastboot-windows boot recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img (wait for device to boot into recovery)
install-recovery-gsm-windows.bat
but the when im in the command prompt window i cd to the correct folder where the recovery image is and it the phone goes into the bootloader ok but then it does not recognise the second line which is:
fastboot-windows boot recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img (wait for device to boot into recovery)
as it says it does not recognise the fastboot command so I cannot follow this method to downgrade either? I am using Windows XP.
I do not have an sd card reader on my pc or a micro sd card to sd adapter so cannot follow the goldcard method either
I just dont know how to install the the update-hero-t-mobile-1.76.110.6-signed.zip file which I downloaded.
Could someone give me a step by step follow through on how i can root my device in basic english so I can understand and root this **** thing before i sell it and buy an iphone?????
Thanks.
u do not need a card reader to do the goldcard. Use your phone in mass storage mode
Follow the link in my sig, i had the same phone with the same ROM, good luck
Many thanks for that guide mate it was excellent and very easily written and very detailed. I will refer this link if I see anyone else with the same issue.
However, I have just flashed the cronos 1.5 image and am running it now but could not partition the sd card as was suggested to do before flashing. I tried to use the guide suggested in your post and managed to make the first partition ext2 with 1024 MB and the 2nd partition fat32 for the rest of the card. But then when I put the ROM image on the card and rebooted into recovery mode in order to flash the cronos ROM, the recovery mode could not find the ZIP file on the card so I had to format the card and remove all partitions and them I put the cronos ROM file on the empty card and rebootted into recovery and flashed the cronos ROM successfully.
But for some reason it does not automatically update my time and date any more even though I have set it up to update automatically and does not find my current location any more?
What benefits do I get by partitioning the card and how do I do this? Also the phone
Also, I just formatted the sd card but when I boot up using the home and power buttons it still boots up into the RA 1.5.2 recovery image so this means the phone is still rooted right, but how does it do this when there is nothing on the sd card or phone? Even if I take out the card can I still get root access by going into recovery mode?
Also is the 1.5.2 recovery the best one or is there a better one out there? If so how do I upgrade the root recovery image?

I have to say, I love that quote,
p.s I have answered your questions in the guide thread
Hello friends, how are you?
I'm from Portugal, and i have one nice strek 5 working great.
But i have another two, that don't boot, it stuck on delll Logo.
i think another my friends try to root or update, and fail.
it don't make any fast boot or streak mod.
so i disassemble to read its sd card.
because i'm using windows, so i install DiskInternalls Linux Reader to have acess to sd card files.
When mounted, its show two volumes, "Linux Ext Volume 1" and "Linux Ext Volume 2"
the firs one have 244 Mbs, and the other one have 1.65Gb
the small one have two folders, lost+found, recovery and a lot of jpeg files in root folder.
the second one, that have 1.65Gb, have a lot od folders and semms a lot of a zipped rom image.
Its possible just decompress and copy to the volume?
Thanks
If you format the card and put it back in the streak, it should set it up automatically. However, you will lose anything on it this way.
Ok. i will try..
but, it don't need to write some data in "boot area" ?
I'm asking that, becouse i download 3 roms, all ziped, but easy to see files, i also download streak mod, and has only one img file, it can't be unzipped..
my firts idea, was copy streak boot files, to card, but i can't acess it..
My assumption, and it is only an assumption, is there is some sort of actual rom memory on the phone that holds the lowest levels of the operating system. Maybe fastboot and the recovery menu, but not recovery itself. The rom actually resides on the internal sd card. When I put in my freshly formatted sd card, I simply rebooted the phone and I don't remember if it was automatic, or I had to confirm it, but the streak partitioned/formatted/whatever the internal sd card itself. I then flashed a recovery and a rom.
Hello.
like you said, i have insert a new sd card, but formated in FAT, i think thats the problem.
I try to load Linux Live CD, and format in ext2/3.
or try to copy rom directly file to sd card.
You think might work?
***EDIT***
I have format the card, and i have inserted into sreak and turn it on..
How much time is preparing the new card ?
and how i know that is ready to reboot?
thanks
I have created an image of my inner SD Card right after a factory reset.
Download Here
I created this using Clonezilla, you should be able to use Clonezilla to restore it. It is an image of the entire sd card. You need to unzip the downloaded file to use it.
Note: I am running DSC_Rom, which is Gingerbread based. I don't think it makes a difference.

You burn the .iso file to a cd and boot it.
OK, I had used the flashing_boot.img posted here to repartition my nook. However someone in that thread found it difficult to create a ext3 partition to add the necessary files
So here is a linux shell script to create that image with B&N Stock 1.4.2 that you can use to re partition and restore your nook tablet it will work on both 8 and 16GB versions. It will format all partitions and force you to unrooted stock 1.4.2
files are at devhost now
http://d-h.st/users/meghd00t/
It is better for you to make your own image, the script has been amended to download the files if they are missing in the current directory.
Instructions to use.
download the attached mkrepartimg.sh.gz
gunzip mkrepartimg.sh.gz
chmod 755 mkrepartimg.sh
if you already have 1.4.2 update put it in the same folder
ubuntu users check if you have kpartx installed
apt-get update && apt-get install kpartx
sudo ./mkrepartimg.sh
this will download the necessary files and create the repart.img
write the repart.img to a sdcard with dd
power off the nook completely (hold power button for 30 sec)
insert the SD card you made into the nook
force boot from USB -
either boot with n and power, wait until it turns on and off then boot normally
or
power off completely and power on by connecting usb cable to PC or charger
screen will show 3 red x and after some time it will show a green check
now remove the sd card, reboot and allow it to do the factory restore.
and you are done.
Windows users go here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663836
I have had a few questions about the size of media partition.
You can change it very easily with sgdisk which was in my myrecovery.img and also in succulents CM 7.2 cwm images I have attached a script to download and make a suitable cwm image which you can run and then dd onto a sdcard boot into that cwm and issue these commands in a adb shell
for further details read this
Code:
sgdisk -e /dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/mmcblk0
This will write the secondary gpt label and remove the parted prompt found error fix?
Code:
sgdisk /dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/mmcblk0 -d 11 -d 10
first delete partition 10 & 11 media and userdata
Code:
sgdisk /dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/mmcblk0 -n 0:0:+12G -n 0:0:0
sgdisk /dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/mmcblk0 -c 10:media -c 11:userdata
now create both with the size you need for media (change +12G to whatever) and userdata will use the rest. and set the name of the partition
After that trigger a factory reset and that will format the partitions again or if you are already running something else first take a nandroid backup in cwm before you change the partitions and format these two in adb like this
Code:
mkdosfs -F32 -n MyNook /dev/block/mmcblk0p10
make_ext4fs -L userdata /dev/block/mmcblk0p11
again you will need my myrecovery cwm or succulents cwm these are the only ones with make_ext4fs
after formatting you can restore your nandroid backup
PS
No questions in PM please. I will not respond.

PROs
simple no adb required
follows B&N partition table properly
keeps the Nook serial and other Information
works with all 8GB & 16GB tablets
CONs
inflexible about the 1.4.2 upgrade (otherwise no 8GB support)
You will get whatever B&N standard partition table is allowed for you device. Adam Outler suggested that I don't deviate from the B&N standard to keep the unbrick safe
This is a great idea but I can't get it to go after multiple tries (different SD cards, different boot methods, etc). I suspect it may have to do with how the SD card is being formatted; is there a trick to this?
Edit: Do I need stock recovery & not CWM?

Unfortunately, I can only tell you how to set it for boot and LBA in Linux or with a GParted Live disc. You may be able to do it with "Parted" via ADB. I'll try it and post back shortly.
my linux doesn't want to recorgnize adb when I'm in clockworkmod
If you're in Linux just use GParted to format the card and set the flags once the volume is created.
For those running Windows you can do this via ADB (I have to boot CWM and then go into ADB for Parted to work). This comes up often but I couldn't find a how-to on it to link to... kind of surprising that it wasn't already out there.
Format your sd card first... just personal preference so I can be sure the empty disk I'm looking when in parted is the one I want to adjust.
Open CMD as Administrator
(Type and execute what's written in blue below. Read comments in parenthesis but don't type them.)
parted /dev/block/mmcblk1
print
(verify that the disk listed is the correct one, there should only be 1 partition #1 it should be FAT32)
set 1 boot on
set 1 LBA on
print (look at the right under "flags" to be sure that "boot" and "LBA" are now set.)
quit
exit ADB as usual or continue as needed.
EDIT: Oh and SDCARD < 2GB means 2GB or smaller. You may have issues trying to use a card larger (this includes larger cards which are partitioned smaller).
Ok here is a sdcard image that you should be able to use with dd or win32diskimager to make the sdcard. This will work on any card 512MB or larger. I have made a 500MB partition and added the necessary files, you will still have to add the factory.zip (b&n 1.4.2 update)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64885133/meghd00t-r4.zip
and
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64885133/meghd00tr4-sdimg.zip
Awww.... I thought the disc was easy enough to set up.
I've been playing around with this and it works fine. I found it responds the same way it did for me when I did the reformatting the past couple times: The "DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR DEVICE" warning doesn't go away. There's just a red X in the upper right corner which indicates it is working and not safe to turn off the device and after a minute or two it is replaced with a green check mark at which point you press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to turn off the device. Remove the card and power back up.
The first time I ran this I was greeted with the notice that there was a problem and to restart the device and if the error occurs again to contact B&N support. Upon restarting it went through the first boot process normally.
I've been asked about the results from the former thread. I'll host a copy of the image file I've used to repartition as they're doing at B&N (5.50GB/7.45GB) with 1.4.0. I'll host it for a week or so, but it's 270MB so if someone wants to put it on a torrent of whatever, feel free.
Do a CWM backup first. Verify the MD5 checksum of the img file inside of the zip file after you download the image, before you burn it to make sure it's not corrupt... that would suck. MD5 = ae1d489a3b33f3e69360cc8e9c0bc096 You can check the checksum in Windows using a free app called WinMD5Free and you can burn the image with Win32DiskImager. This image does NOT load a boot manager. It boots straight in and repartitions and restores 1.4.0 with no prompts. Don't boot with this image if you are ready.
ONLY FOR 16GB NTs!!! --> http://www.fadingworld.com/NT/repart.img.zip
All credit for getting this img figured out (particularly the whole getting the NT to boot after the repartitioning) goes to meghd00t and probably the folks he thanks too.
EDIT: Finally compressed the img file and uploaded it so it's down to 270MB. This is a COMPLETE image, you don't need to change anything as long as you're fine with 1.4.0 and B&N's new partitioning scheme.
hmm the image doesn't work on CM7 do you need to have the stock rom installed ?

I don't even need to look at the script to be quite confident that there is a check to ensure that the device "qualifies" before continuing... This is all based on B&N's own reflash system. These cards flash your NT with one version or another of the stock OS... you should revert to 1.4.0 - 1.4.2 first... They will not leave CM7 intact.
EDIT: Now megdh00t's image should still boot into cyanoboot and be able to load CWM. The image I've supplied just boots and runs the partitioning script immediately. If you're trying meghd00t's and it's not booting at all then verify the download and try booting from the card by turning off the Nook, insert the card, plug in the factory charge cable and that will turn it on and it should boot from the SD.... if that still fails try a different card. I keep a few 1GB and smaller SDs on hand just because larger SDs are problematic sometimes.
Thank you for the image. Quick ?s. Will this image work for a NT, with CM7 running on SD card only, stock B&N 1.40? And can I use this without hooking up the NT to a computer? If so, do I just pop the SD card with the image on it and viola I am repartitioned and still have 1.40? Any help will greatly be appreciated by this newby chick. . .
I've used the image I posted on two NTs now and I've tried both methods numerous times on my NT. I haven't had a single problem (except for when I do it on purpose). Both of the NTs were stock, rooted NTs. I don't have CM7 and have little interest in setting it up so I can only certify that this does work on a factory NT. If you have an alternate boot manager or CWM or CM7 flashed internally then you may very well have problems. If you're booting straight from SD and nothing has been changed in the NTs internal memory then it should run with any problem.
I've used the image you kindly provided CRE. It is stuck on the "Please Do NOT Turn Off Your Device. Installing New Software..."
There is a picture of a Nook in the center and a green check mark in the top right corner. How long should this take (I'm assuming it reboots itself after finishing)?
Edit:
I found your post from the previous thread:
"When I was ready to go it took several times of pressing the power button (I probably pressed every combination possible out of desperation) before it came to life. It booted up and came to the "DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR DEVICE" (or similar text) screen and a red X was in the upper right corner. Where I'm used to seeing this message go away and the Nook prompting me to eject my card before turning the device off all that happened was it remained on the warning screen but the red X was replaced with a green check mark after a couple minutes. Being paranoid, I probably left it on that screen for 30+ minutes before I finally forced it off, took out the card, booted into CWM, restored my backup image and now I'm all set! (My serial number was uneffected despite all my clumsy efforts to kill this NT). I had 1.4.0 installed and this image was made using files from the 1.4.0 acclaim_update.zip."
Thanks to you, meghd00t, and all others involved!

Yes, it does seem to be a problem, as it does not execute the scripts from the boot card.
Hey, I have an 8gb NT sitting on my desk which is bricked. I'll check this out tonight. If it works, then for sure I'll request that my Ubuntu Recovery be removed and yours take its place in the stickies. I just ask that you consider making one for the stock partition tables.. that way it can be official stock and not just an unbrick.

Thank you for the feedback.
I have remade the images as per your instructions. Now you will get exactly what B&N gives you Only changes are in using the vfat portion of the sdcard to hold the factory.zip.
If you have some hosting then perhaps the original image with the ext3 partition for the factory.zip as per the details here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23946133&postcount=21 would also work. (now image attached here as bn_142_factory_recovery.zip )
Please review and let me have your comments

Hello all. I am trying to root my Barnes&Noble Nook Tablet (model bntv250a, 8gb, It's the tablet, not a color, hd, etc.). I've tried multiple guides from Indirects to Walters, etc. here on the forum as well as several youtube guides and I can't seem to get clock work rom manager running on the device off of my sd card (micro sd hc I 8gb class 4). So before I tear all the hair out of my scalp I was hoping someone on the forum could give me a hand. Please hurry. I can still use some hair spray and make it into a comb over but I'm slowly losing blood from the lacerations in my skull.
To be more specific the issue occurs after I have formatted the sd card, copied the flash img to it using windows file explorer. When I try to boot it it come to a black screen. When the card is removed it reboots too a screen asking if I want to restore the device to factory settings

See section "Making a Bootable Recovery SDcard" at http://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-tablet/general. If you choose to use a pre-made image you need to use a disk-image writer program such as win32diskimager to write (aka "burn") the .img image file to your SDcard, rather than use windows "copy" command to copy the .img file to the SDcard.

I think this is a consequence of your NT experiencing too many failed boots.

Are you able to enter download mode ?
If yes then you can simply flash stock ROM via PC Odin to unbrick your device

If his phone is dead and showing the QHSUSB driver, then he's past the help of Odin.
OP: Not sure if there is an image available. Nothing I could find in the forums here or via quick Google search. You might need a JTAG service. I recommend these guys:
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/
They don't have your phone listed, but they might be working on the method for it...
Edit: Sorry, realized you were trying to make your own. You might check out the method for another phone and see if you can reverse engineer it with the files you need for yours...

Here is the list of original firmware files for your phone as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761412
I believe you would need one that also includes the PIT file, if any.

Good job on the fix!
For uploading large files, I like Mega or you can use something like dev host.
