I am not looking to be flamed my rabid fanboys please if thats all you have to say just keep it to yourself. I am an avid android fan i wont own anything else but I was wondering if its posable and if it is if anyone is working on iOS or winmo that can be booted for the Vibrant. Like how the HD2 can boot into android. My reasoning is that there are certian iphone apps and a couple for winmo that I wish I could run but I cant afford to buy an itouch or a second phone.

unfortunately neither windows Mobile or I Phone OS are open source.
so while android can feasibly be made compatible with other phones hardware, the opposite happening is extremely unlikely without an open source.

Duh I should have thought of that about the ios part I know its not publicly open source but I thought there might be enough out there for the winmom part I dont know a lot about winmo but I know there is enough out there for custom rom building
Ever since I switched form windows mobile to android 2 years ago I never looked back, but found this thread interesting and thought...
would it be possible to create an emulator type thing for .cab files to run on android?
Unfortunately, like they said above, because they are not open source, there's not much we can do right now.
It would be pretty cool to have the option to switch back and for though; I used to do it all the time when I had the HD2.
The reason I ask this is because this phone has been the experimental phone for all new ports.
If anyone knows if this is even possible, enlighten me
Thanks

the only thing that I can say is
even if this is possible apple will f****k us all
so lets get used to winmo wp7 android ubuntu and...(I got tired)
Not possible...well at least not now.
Someone would have to decompile and decrypt the whole firmware and rebuild it for the HD2 with the proper drivers. It'd be very difficult, since Apple's firmware isn't open source.

sorry to bring this to you but thats total bs.
What do u think wp7 is?
That is not open source eighter..
Everything is possible. The only thing we need is a damn smart dev.

I never said WP7 was open source. I know it's not open source, but no devs are working on iOS to try to port it, so atm it's not possible. Also WP7 is more open than iOS. Windows 7 isn't open source, but you can do registry hacks and customize it more. With Mac you can't really. No one is going to put in the effort to port iOS. So sorry to bring this to YOU, it's not total bs.

you actually feel offended.
You think the WP7 port was easy, forget it.
it can be done, only one man must be willing to do it..
okay if everybody shoots of an idea at first sight then things are never gonna happen, that's one thing I know for sure.
So don't feel offended, I'm just correcting your statement. If you don't like iOS than don't reply to this thread.

James_Caliber is correct. You can't compare running WP7 on the HD2 to running iOS on the HD2. The HD2 version of WP7 was built to run on hardware that is basically the same as the HD2. iOS is not, so it would need a complete recode of all the drivers, which would mean decompiling the entire OS.
Anyway, on-topic, I don't know of any dev even interested in doing this (I'm not saying there aren't any - just that I know of none). I think the vast majority of people that use this forum are not interested in iOS, and by vast majority I do not mean everyone, so responding "I want it" doesn't change the validity of the statement.
look the way iOS is build is totally different then WP7,
but you guys go offroad, the OP his question is: is it possible?
so I say yes, it is. will somebody do it? maybe your right, maybe nobody will..
Thanks for all the answers folks!
I'm just seeking answer from fellow XDA forum lover and had no intention or whatsoever to create tension for anyone who's willing to answer my question.
I really appreciate all feedbacks & answers, folks
Thanks again

Where did you get the idea that I don't like iOS? I am no fan boy of any OS and I think it's a pretty nice OS, just too closed and missing some features. I don't feel offended, I just know what I'm talking about lol.
It would be hell harder than porting WP7 to HD2.
Also, I think that Apple would sue us all for even thinking of doing such things .
Hello!
Would my Galaxy S2 be able to run another OS smoothly? Like iOS or WP7? I'm not saying I want to flash anything here, I'm just curious whether it will work or fail in the long run.
thanks!

there are many many many factors
not made for " it " coding etc
certain roms are made for certain phones
just like trying to flash htc rom to a samsung
not sure if a IOS rom even exists
etc etc etc
its not like windows 7
u cant put it on everything
its all in the OS
if they made an OS that knows everyphone
then it is possible if the phone allows it
look at the ARM version if Ubuntu for example people who wanted to play with it got it working with a little tinkering
look
iOS is proprietary software for proprietary hardware, you would never be able to get compatibility for a android device.
in theory it could be possible, but it never will be.
Just want to know if anyone else knows about this new app that is in dev at the moment.
It is a way of having a dual boot with ios5 and android

As said in the other thread, Im not sure whether its a fake rip off or a real one. Apple hasn't and wouldn't give source codes for their crap.
And erm, ios would just dirty my phone
Yes, im a fanboy
I am slightly convinced that if might be real, although as said on the blog he has run into some legal problems but thinks he might have found a way around this, I am a Droid fan but this is a show off feature that would be pretty cool.

Wow it would be really nice to have ios running on my SII. i love android, but showing the fanboys that our device can do both. It's priceless. keep up the good work
im interested in this project mostly because would be nice to test performance on the s2 but then you would run into issues like their retina display, apple would never allow it since there platform is copyright, but luckily this guy is named Anonymous
heres a pic from his blog

It would be intresting to see how this would work and i think the galaxy s2 is the perfect phone to test on, but i cant see how he going to get over the legal issues.

If he could create a script or program that could take an IPSW (Firmware file) and make it "android ready" for lack of a better term, he would be completely safe. As the user would be downloading the IPSW and supplying it not him. Also the IPSW are available freely on Apple's site so they couldn't come after the users at that point at all. He just has to find a way to do that (not going to be easy).
Also iOS source is available on apple's dev site for anyone to look at it. It's just mostly copywrited (besides the BSD portions). I'm not sure if all of it's there but I have looked at some of it in the past for hints to exploits for jailbreaking.

Well he has been quiet for a while, so maybe that is what he is working on, i am no dev so wouldent have any idea of how long a process like that would take.

I have some development background, and from my knowledge of iOS and ARM Devices this would be quite a task if this is what he is doing.
I really want to believe this is real but I just found a link from github by someone called Peter42 who freshly uploaded a "BootDroid" code.
Last update to his blog dated 24 March is the same date the files were uploaded.
I have a Motorola Xoom and believe I can't test them.
Could anyone (for God's sake!) confirm whether they were real or not?
If possible, I already downloaded the files and would upload them for you in case original was removed.
this should be awesome, running ios in the powerfull SII... just for shutup the izombies xP
Even better, the upcoming Galaxy SIII!
But for real, can anyone try that?
I just ran the installation process on my Motorola Xoom and didn't notice any difference like a new app nor by or through restarting.
I'm kinda hyped up on this and would love to brag about how Android is superior to iOS if it was true
I heard about this and i think the guy plans to do it by vnc so just displaying the iPhone screen over internet

I don't really know if this was the link to the program or not though it's called the same.
But as I said before, these files were uploaded the day he last updated his post.
You can download it from there.
I don't really know how this should work since it doesn't even have iOS firmware files but I figured someone with a supported device could try and see for himself.
Nothing appeared on my Xoom at all which is not supported!
And, you can uninstall it from the same installation wizard.
Hi everybody !
Sorry for my english, I'm french.
I am really interested on this application, so I wonder if somebody has already succed in make it working ?
I' ve downloaded the Zip package on the website shared on the link below, but I don't understand how to instal it...
I think that even if it's possible to run iOs and Adroid on a Iphone, it woould be difficult to do the same on a androphone beacause iOs in not an open source system ...
Can somebody help me please ?
Thanks to you guys

I could have a look after I finished iOS xTreme and it works perfectly. I know that it is not the same as Android, but as it's open-source...
well gnex people got it working...
it takes some skilled developers to port it. its not just editing a few framework files adding a few apks and downloading a nightly for it to be based. imagine it like porting AOSP 4.2 the day the source code comes out
you have no prior sources or work of anykind. just source code

So can we expect WebOS port for Optimus one?
I don't know who started porting WebOS for GalaxyNexus but check that out: http://www.webos-ports.org/wiki/Main_Page
And webOS was running perfect on such low level devices like optimus one, so i hope that webOS will run smooth and fast. Can someone port it?
It's opened, just like android. If someone try, i will test it
And btw what happened to B2G (boot to gecko os) OS port, will someone port it too?
So...at last can we expect webos or b2g?

adfad666 is working on B2G.
Edit: Yes, you can expect webOS for O1 by me But I must hold on the iOS xTreme development (okay, it‘s modding ) to do that. And in 2 days I‘ll write a test :banghead:

Updating ubuntu is pain is the arse... at least the system updates... if you forget it for a month, you get a half-day update... eventually you get bored and turn it off.. which corrupted my ubuntu installation (1st no more wifi, had to connect via ethernet cable, then no more sudo, password prompt in a loop)
