Moto E (2nd) Verizon cant activate + weird behaviour - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
I have a Moto E2 (2nd) Verizon model xt1528 which is locked to Verizon.
I got this device to try and unlock it with gsm services, when i got it i simply factory reset the phone using the recovery to start from scratch. all went well, but here's where the problems starts:
The initial Activation screen says the sim inserted is not Verizon's, which is fine..i pulled it out and continue the setup using WiFi, the screen which says "Checking info" is runing for a few seconds then displays "Couldnt sign in" (cant establish a reliable connection to the server, and wifi is working properly i might add) etc'.
If i go back a screen, it allows to input the first and last name, then it gets to the Google services checkboxes, i hit next and then i get a crash saying "Unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped".
I tried frp bypass using this video just to get to the Developer options:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4sQ73IoHQc
But when i get to the part that i need to share the text using Message app, i cant find the message app in the list. if i click on Hangouts, i get another "Unfortunately" crash.
It seems everything in the gapps system is faulty.
I tried:
Reinstalling to the latest firmware available (XT1528_SURNIA_VERIZON_5.1_LPI23.29-17.5_cid2_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml) using Fastboot. all went well and no errors. (bootloader is locked, cant unlock it without getting to Settings)
I tried to bypass the activation with simcard/without
I tried getting to the settings by any means that i can think of, nothing works, it seems google apps keep crashing and because of that, the setup screen itself is crashing.
Can anyone think of a solution to this?

Anyone?

[Q] CM7 Sim Card Lock Issue on HTC Legend

Hi,
I just installed a nightly build of CyanogenMod "cm_legend_full-124" on my HTC Legend, which I downgraded from 2.05.461.52 to 1.3 first in order to install CM7.
CM7 is successfully installed, but I kept getting an error message popping up saying "Sorry! The process com.android.phone" has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try Again". I traced the error to the "Settings > Location & security settings > Set up SIM card lock" area, where I found that "Lock SIM card" is checked. I tried unchecking it and it asks for a pin. I have two pins and two PUK codes given to me by my cell provider. I tried them all and it didn't work.
At one point, the cell phone randomly connected to the network, and I was able to use the phone, but then 5 minutes later it stopped working and is giving the same issues and I cannot uncheck the "Lock SIM card" box.
Please note I never locked the sim card, nor do I need or want it locked. I don't think it really is locked, I think it's some kind of CM glitch. I also had the problem when I tried the CM7 Stable release, which is the ROM I tried first.
Did anyone else have this issue, as well? If so, what did you do to fix it. I have spent countless hours searching both Google and these forums and I cannot find a solution.
Thank you.
Try a stable release of CM7, There is a thread somewhere for nightlies and issues find it and check the thread for teh same error
i get this problem with the 108, i turn my phone in plane mode ( to avoid pin loop), did a full titanium backup, flashed a non cm7 rom ( b08), and finally flashed the nightly and did the titanium restore.
work for me.

[Q] No usim card

I just got this phone brand new a couple of days ago(P769 model). Everything seems to be working fine, except that sometimes when I try to send a text over wifi calling, I get an error message that says "No usim card". So far resetting the phone each time I get the message has fixed the problem and allowed me to text, but it seems like the type of thing that will only get worse and more frequent as time goes by on top of it being mildly annoying having to reset my phone every time this happens. Any ideas on how to fix? I tried swapping out my old sim card for a new one, but that didn't help.
Never heard about such error. USIM is simpy a SIM card supporting UMTS with no software emulation. Try emergency firmware recovery from LG PC Suite. It will wipe all your data so make a backup if needed.

Do I need to download a specific version of LG PC Suite for the 769. I couldn't find a link to it on LG's website. I tried downloading the version they had linked to the 765, but my phone would never connect with it. It would say it was connecting for about 30 seconds, and then it would say it failed.
You can use this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344&highlight=lgmobile+support+tool
Or just download LGMobile Support Tool (p. 3 in above post), install msxml.msi than B2CAppSetup.exe, run it and connect the phone, upgrade recovery from options. I was recovering my phone this way after failed rooting of the device. BTW PC Suite should work with all p76x.

[Q] SIM Status - Network Unknown

Hello,
When I go to SIM Status in the settings, it says "Unknown" under "Network". I can't make calls nor text. However, 4g LTE data is working.
I live in the US and took a trip to Europe. This happened upon returning. I did not do anything unusual with my phone while abroad. While abroad, my phone connected to local networks without problem and I was able to send/receive text messages and make calls. When I got back to the US, it just says "no service" under the status.
Info:
* I am using the latest nightly of CM (which I flashed AFTER encountering this problem). No change. Before that I was using a nightly from a month or so ago without any issues
* I have checked the APN configuration and it looks correct
* My IMEI is intact and correct
* My baseband version is I545VRUAMDK
* I called Verizon and they said something about my phone not being able to enter the "Active" state. They are unsure as to whether or not it is a software problem or a network problem
Any ideas of how to fix this?
Solved
Just for the record, I fixed this problem by following the directions here.
Just in case the URL eventually fails, I used ODIN to restore back to stock, which did not initially fix the problem. From stock, I used the factory reset option from recovery mode. This fixed the problem. I still do not know what caused it.
One more problem not related to the above. Once I restored to stock and did a factory reset, I attempted to use the built-in updater to get to the latest version (currently Lollipop). The update failed with a 402 error. I was able to update using the Verizon Upgrade Assistant from my desktop computer. After upgrading this way, I ran into yet another problem with an error message that kept coming up, saying "com.android.phone has stopped working". I booted back into recovery and once again did a factory reset of the phone which fixed the problem. Everything is working as intended now.

Stock phone app foolishly removed, IMEI no dissappeared

I bought a new Lenovo A806 (original version android 4.4.2 - build VIBEUI_1432_ST_A806).
There were lots of Chinese writings imbedded in the rom and apps so I rooted the phone and tried to disable some apps and stupidly removed the stock phone dialer and contacts. Then whatever replacement app I tried from the Google play store did not work.
The replacement dialer gives me the message:- “You have removed/disabled Stock phone application, its required to properly functionality.” (pardon the Chinese English)
The phone cannot read the sim card and the IMEI number has disappeared. Following forum advice, I installed “mobileuncle” but cannot insert the IMEI number manually. When I go to Engineer mode, CDS information and try to go into Radio information, I get the message - “Unfortunately, Common Data Service has stopped.” So I cannot even go into Radio information.
I researched on the internet and tried to change the Rom. I installed the required version of TWRP recovery and after trying a few Roms, I managed to get Version VIBEUI_V2.0_1508_7.85.1_ST_A806 installed.
This version behaves better but still no IMEI number. Instead I get a different message – IMEI invalid.
When I try to call, I get this message: - “To place a call, first turn off Airplane mode”
But Airplane mode is off. But at least the dialer seems to be working and I am able to add contacts.
And I can get to radio information from mobileuncle with this version but when I type the IMEI number after the ST.., I get the message: “This command is not allowed in userbuild”
Even with a space between the ST and +, it still does not work and I get a different message, “at command is failed to send” I even rebooted after inserting the IMEI number and still no joy.
However, the wifi seems to be working on both above version and this.
I have a backup of the original corrupted rom so if anyone has a solution for either one, please help.
I installed the rom’s through TWRP recovery which is on my phone. I press volume and on/off buttons to enter into this.
I tried to install a flash tool and all the required drivers on my computer, I am using windows 10. I cannot seem to get the flash working.
Fixed
I managed to get the "SP Flash tool" working on my Windows 10 computer and that worked. Everything fixed. Thanks.

Stop activation prompt?

So, I have a couple 2nd gen Boost Moto E's. Upon every boot, I am greeted with the Activation screen... which attempts 5 times and fails (is this normal to fail on brand new devices? what gives?). Regardless, I only want to use these as wifi-only devices... I'm able to get around the activation screen by waiting for it to fail all 5 times, but it is super annoying and comes back after every reboot. I also tried unlocking the bootloader and wiped out the stock rom and installed CM13.... but I also get a similar "activating" screen within CM13. If I remove the SIM, I get a similar nag screen about there being "no sim card".
Is there some way to actually complete the activation.... or just permanently make the "activating" screen go away? Would prefer to know the solution for both stock and CM13.... or if not, just a solution for CM13 would be great.
Try wiping out data, cache, dalvik, system and then flash any rom and open or banks gapps. Or if nothing works, flashing the firmware would work without any issues!

By the way, you are not required to purchase airtime when completing the online or toll-free activation process.

Yes this is completely normal on the Boost variant of the xt1526. The device is attempting to provision your UICC card, update your PRL, update your Profile, and thus provision your device for voice and data services, when progressing through the activation screen sequence. In order to successfully attain activation, you will need to either (1) complete the activation steps on Boost Mobile's website, or (2) complete the activation steps via Boost Mobile's toll-free activation phone number. Whether completing the steps online, or by phone, your xt1526's MEID and ICCID numbers are synced in Boost's activation database. Therefore, when you then power up your phone and enter into the activation screen, the TCP packets sent from your phone to Boost's server will now be recognized by the system and you will get a "passed" versus a "failed" activation status.
