Siyah kernel. Most popular kernel for sgs2 at the moment. Unified kernel, can be flashed on any Samsung based rom or aosp roms like miui and cm7.

Well, it depends on how wisely you undervolt and also make use of many no of features this kernel offers. I haven't used miui. So i don't know if something specific, like media scanner running endlessly or something that's causing battery drain.
I'm on gingermod rom. With siyah, battery is really good. See this (my own ) post about some of the features for saving battery in Siyah, that the dev has incorporated. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19231855&postcount=9615
Reviving an old thread.... now that MIUI hmade the jump to ICS.... which kernel do you recommend?
I want to flash a custom ROM to My S2 ...What i dont get is whic kernal to flash .Can someone provide a comparison between Fluxi ICS Kernel, Siyah ICS Kernel, CM ICS Kernel, Dorimanx ICS Kernel & Dark Knight ICS Kernel?? What is the Difference between all of these??
Thanks in Advance.
Read the first page of the thread devoted to each kernel. The specific features will normally be in the first post on that page. There is no chart or thread or whatever listing features of all the kernels on here, there's too many of them for starters & kernels change all the time.
I'm on siyah kernel and it's awesome. I reccomend it... I tried time ago most of the kernel, xxkernel, siyah, dorimanx( just yesterday) but the most stable and usable for me ( I'm on cyano) is the siyah for now... thoravukk kernel at the time I try it wasn't bad but the recovery won't work well... dorimanx comprised with the siyah is really similar the only thing that force me to switch again to siyah was some bug of the dorimanx that the dev will fix.. the dark knight kernel wasn't bad also... but it doesn't have a app to tune the kernel ( like ex tweak).. if you try the dorimanx remember to download extweaks and set the governor of deep sleep ( both) on pesasusq, if you gonna try some other kernel like thoravukk or xxkernel please post your impression, I'm always looking for the ultimate kernel for me right now for stability and feature is the siyah... dunno if the battery life is optimized better on other kernel... I have not bad battery life with siyah...

Hi guys i'm looking for a kernel with best battery backup for revolt 2.8.2 with good configurations.
Now i'm with latest siyah kernel and is worst with battery but before that i was using latest dorimanx kernel with different configurations like sio scheduler and conservative governor but it was giving me worst battery life so i tried siyah.
I thought that conservative governor is conserving the battery resources but on both kernels like siyah and dori is worst.
So please post here your best kernel with good configurations for revolt 2.8.2 and thanks for reading my story

try a kernel with BLN or go to market and download NoLED
kernel?
Jaime i m running the new pacman ROM based on the jellybean update what a good stable kernel
Battery always at 100% after flashing and removing nAa kernel.
Device:Sony Ericsson LwW
Issue:
Recently flashed nAa's kernel 3.4.45,ROM CM10.2 JB 4.3 alpha 20130809.
After a while decided to revert to my previous config
Kappa 1.6 Kernel and optimax v2.0 rom using a CWM backup
After doing so,my battery percentage is stuck at 100% always, restarted it several times..like 6h and still 100%...
The battery voltage is fine though,4070mV-4091mV is fully charged but the meter shows 100% even at 3600mV.
Even when the phone is completely dead(red led blinkin),i connect the charger and the led immediately turns green.
Basically the meter is stuck at 100%,but the battery actually charges as i can see the battery voltage goin up..
What i have tried till now:
1.Discharging it completely and charging it again
but the phone shows 100% immediately on connecting the charger..:crying:
using battery stats wipe from CWM,using apps from market - NO USE
2.Flashing extended stock kernel,no use
3.Installing optimax v2.0 instead of using the CWM image,no use
4.Installing Stock ROM (build 4.1.B.0.587),solves the problem which means its not a hardware issue.
but i dont want stock rom...
whats wrong with optimax ROM which was workin perfectly before i flashed nAa kernel?
5.Flashing the nAa kernel again along with the JB rom i tested solves the issue, but the ROM is not suitable for my personal use.
can somebody please solve this issue...?
I will attach a logcat if necessary...please help me with this...
Okh try few more things..
#Download battry calibration from market and try to calibrate it..
#in cwm revovery mode wipe the battry stats..(Dangerous method and im not sure it will work)
Sent from my WT19i using xda premium
i already mentioned that i have tried it and its not workin...
do you know how to reset the fuel gauge chip bq24185 on the i2c bus..? any script or app which can reset the battery meter..?
Please dont ask me to recalibrate again..

I tried but still no use..kappa kernel still has 100% battery issue..
and every other kernel works fine and reports the battery percentage..
What could be the reason?
@nobodyAtall Can you please help me out?
its kernel bug. like in test kernel of kappa just re flash
Finally Solved
Sorry for the title,NOTHING TO DO WITH nAa KERNEL
Ok guys i finally managed to figured out the solution after weeks of struggling...
Its quite simple..
1.Flash a different kernel(i flashed extended stock),charge your battery to 100%
2.Flash kappa kernel before your battery drains below 90%
3.Tada!!! the battery bug is no more!!!
I even managed to figure out why this actually happens..the battery meter value is estimated by a chip bq27520 manufactured by TI semiconductors...The datasheet of the bq27520 describes the charging algorithm which estimates (and calibrates itself ) the battery meter percentage at 4.2V and 3.0 V,Since 3.0 V is not possible..4.2 V is good...
I guess kappa kernel doesnt support the charging algorithm of bq27520 and hence it is unable to re-calibrate itself and gets stuck in last state..,whereas stock kernel supports the chip and thus solves the problem...
If first time it doesnt work..try using your phone with the stock kernel for one discharge and charge cycle and then flash kappa kernel..
BUT FLASH kappa kernel ONLY WHEN BATTERY IS ABOVE 90%
hope this helps anybody else having the same problem...
anyways thanks for your efforts guys,Finally peace!!
Regards..

Pls keep nAa kernel flashed and then flash Super JellyBean v6. Then let the phone boots. After that you can flash any kernel or ROM or restore your existing nandroid image. this will help you.
Thanks!
I have opposite problem
When I flash stock ICS kernel I have 100% battery problem but when I flash NON stock kernel IE vengeance LUPUS, FXP,FUSION or STOCK GB etc problem is gone.
I notice an error with the bq27520 driver with dmesg could my battery controller be faulty ?
is it compulsory to reflash kappa kernel
pl reply
I am also facing the same problem
Hi,
I have a Xperia Arc and I have same problem when I'm fixing battery I'm losing wifi
I don't know what should I do
if flashing not to be solved the problem ,, try this app , with this app i never stuck on 100% again
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.hira.batteryvoltagefree2
How is that working?
I installed it but it shows 100% same as system

anyone can confirm this if it's working?
i want to try cm11 but i don't want to have that kind of bug if ever i decided to go back on my stock ics.
i'm using LWW
this thread helped me to solve my batter stuck at 100% by doing the steps below:
1. flashed stock ics ftf file
2. turned on phone and still got the battery stuck at 100%
3. turned off phone
4. flashed the lupus kernel with stock ics rom
5. turned on phone and the battery stuck at 100% issue was solved
6. flashed kappa kernel which is my preferred kernel
7. installed my preferred ics rom
thanks to the thread author !!!!

This 100% battery bug is present on stock kernel itself. But it manifest only when you switch from cm 10 or 11 to ics. Only known kernel not to have this bug is Mesa 4.8 kernel. For some stock rom flashing eliminates the problem but reappears suddenly. My request is to first flash stock rom, then flash mesa kernel, then install desired ics based any rom e.g fluroscent feather rom & then after few days kernel of your choice eg doppler kernel, kernel panic etc.
This always solves my problem in XMP sk17i.
Since the kernel for ics are based on stock sources (except mesa), all tend to have the same problem. Mesa kernel fixed that problem long aaaaaago. See the changelog:fingers-crossed:
