If you had systemless root with SuperSU i think you lose root when you do a factory reset (factory reset doesn't wipe system files)

Both Tabs have same SuperSU. Sony Tablet S have never loose Root by Factoring Reset. After Factory Reset. Reinstall SuperSu from Playstore and Ready. Root Work Perfectly.
Have now tested. Make SuperSU to System App with SD2Link App on my Xperiza Z4. After Facroy Reset the SuperSU app is not gone. The Root rights are gone,
SuperSU App say. "Missing SuperSu Files. Can not Installing. Is a Problem"
I See Root are more as the SuperSu App and Kernel.
apparently is different Methods for Root by the two tabs.

Ok,
Under SuperSU -> parameters-> System, is the "Install SuperSU in /system" is grayed on the two tablet ?
Which OS version have you on the two tablet ?
I have another tablet "Acer A3-A20FHD KK 4.4.2" with the same version of SuperSU v2.76 but SuperSU is installed in /system so I think it depends on the version of the OS

Xperia is grayed out
Sony Tablet S not grayed out
by the Sony Tab S install SuperSU form App Store work. Xperia not work from App Store.
Tablet S have Android 4.0.3 / SuperSu 2.76 / Factory Image
Xperia have 6.0.1 / SuperSu 2.76 / AndoidKernel Plus
Install SuperSu over TWRP must be more Files installing for Root whos ist gone bei Factory Reset.
The Thing is. Is it Possible install ALL Files make root possible to the System Area on the Xperia Z4 Tab?

Search on google there are some guys who made changes to choose the installation mode like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/v2-64-2-66-supersu-mode-t3286120

This ist not Helpfull
I have make the App to a System App. This not work. It must be more as the App to make the Xperia Root rights.
Or ist System Mode not the same as make SuperSu to a System App?
make as System app or Install as System App the same or?

I don't undastand the purpose of theme. Of course, all apps removed after factory reset, but such things as supersu, xposed, remained in the system. Wanna get back root back? Install SuperSU apk or flash it through twrp, you may also reflash kernel. That's all.

Me too i don't understand because i never make a factory reset on this tablet. And reinstall SuperSu is not a problem for me
But on MM SuperSU is not installed in /system (systemless root) it's installed in /su/bin so it doesn't survive to factory reset.

Ok the answer of my Question is No. Thanx.

Rooted Tablet S now no Play Store

I have rooted my sony tablet s ( Android 4.03 release 1a) using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 after rooting all my apps were wiped which is no big deal but Play Store has also been removed. I downloaded an apk and installed but this runs and then says its stopped working. If i go into settings- aps and uninstall playstore updates it says that it will revert to the factory version but am then back in the same situation with Play Store not installed at all.
(In fact in settings-aps a large number of my apps are listed as installed when in fact they are not).
Any help much appreciated.
In fact it seems that the root didn't work just deleted the apps etc. Would still like to root so any advice appreciated.

You would lose your root. Use condi to install a play store which include more apps

That is not correct. After a factory reset, you still have root. I think it is a good thing to do a factory reset, after rooting or update.

Regarding loss of root access after performing a Factory Reset, I believe both of you are correct. I believe it depends on which rooting method was used.
If Condi's ALLinONE tool was used to directly root a tablet's OS (i.e., Main Menu's selection 1), then root access will be lost when a Factory Reset is performed because the rooting changes to the tablet's OS were not saved (flashed) in the tablet's System ROM.
And even though I have not used the newer rooting method originally posted by WonderEkin, I believe if it was used, then root access will be lost for the same reason. Of course, I could be mistaken.
However, if Condi's ALLinONE tool was used to pre-root and install a tablet's OS (Main Menu's selection 3, then next menu's selection 1), then root access will not be lost when a factory reset is performed because the rooting changes to the tablet's OS were saved (flashed) in the tablet's System ROM.
I have used the pre-root/install method twice on two different tablet's and have performed a Factory Reset on both tablets several times, and neither tablet has ever lost root access.

it is rooted.... i can clean dalvic through cwm recovery but cant gain root permissions I think that part of the stock root manager or something like that is left on the system that denies root permission to other apps but don't know what to do, I have million settings and phone numbers and apps and other stuff that I don't want to lose but titanium backup is not working either..... If I wanted I could have flashed the same rom (it's still on the sd) and I think that would fix it but I don't want another flash if possible

i update and rooted my mega to I9200XXUCML1 but knox security not allow to super user and blocked
“SuperSU tried to access system in your device without authorization. This action was blocked”.
how i can disable knox?
Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2574953
- After reboot the SuperSU stop sometimes, it is installed on system/app and Knox not permit all access at system.
- Then, whit Explorer from Rom I go at extSdCard and touch on superuser.apk and install it. This way the apk is installed on data/app.
- Now we can touch on icon SuperSU, this start and ask us to invalidate Knox. We must say Yes.

tnx but not work for me!
How I Root this Rom whit Knox bootloader and appl:
- First of all I have a appl superuser.apk (SuperSU v1.80) on extSdCard. For now I prefer this version.
- Flash by Odin the i9205-cwm-recovery.tar.md5. Reboot.
- On recovery by Power + Vol-up I flash the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip from Chainfire. Thanks @Chainfire . Root but not Busybox.
- After reboot the SuperSU stop sometimes, it is installed on system/app and Knox not permit all access at system.

- Installed Busybox 1.21.1 of Stericson from Play Store. Verified whit "Root Verifier". It's all, we have all root now.

How to root Sony Xperia Z2 NEED HELP

Hello i need help rooting the sony xperia z2 23.0.1.A.1.200
The fastest and safest root guide available?
Will the survival mode in Superuser app function work if i downgrade to kitkat and update over OTA?
.200 is 5.1.1, and there's no root for this one.
You will need to downgrade to .546 or any other 5.0.2 rom, root that version, install recovery, then flash a pre-rooted .200 (or better .232) rom
or just follow this guide here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...ck-d6502-03-23-4-0-546-completeguide-t3171219
good luck, and always remember to do a backup first

To have a root install prerooted firmware and than install SE Linux apk and set option to permissive and you would have r/w capabillities.

I use "busybox on rails" to install busybox, works great for me.
as for mounting system, use ES file explorer with root mode enabled, should work fine. I never used any app to change SELinux on my device and I can write to system partition normally.

Have you installed nuts duel recovery? it disabled RIC making the system partition rw.

Asus Zenfone 4: Oreo released

To whom it may concern: Asus software engineers were busy and they released Oreo: https://www.asus.com/de/Phone/ZenFone-4-ZE554KL/HelpDesk_Download/
For me I'll wait for some answers about compatibility of TWRP and the possibility to root. At present I run rooted Nougat Version WW_14.1064.1711.96 (TWRP 3.1.1 with Magisk V15.2, XPosed V89 and Gravity Box [N.] V 7.0.6). Never change a running system if you don't feel the urgent need

Excellent. You use XDA guide to Root and install TWRP? You don't have brick?
After couple nights of pain, finally installed 8.0.0. I have TWRP 3.2.1-0 and Magisk 15.3.
The main problem: ROOT doesn't work. Root check says phone's rooted, and apps request and get root permissions, but in fact there's no one. For example, root uninstaller can't remove any system app. Tried lesser TWRP (3.1.1), tried SuperSU instead of Magisk. SuperSU doesn't even work, says "SU binnary occupied".
Also one problem: WW-15.0405.1712.83 doesn't want install through TWRP, says "no file contexts". But you can install it through stock recovery, it just bypasses this check.
To get stock recovery, you can do the trick: install SuperSU, boot system, open the app and pick "Unroot" option (it will offer you to clear recovery and boot). Now you get stock recovery and can install firmware.
UPD: Was wrong. Root works, but neither Magisk nor SuperSU gives RW permission on system folder. That's the main problem now. Tried updating permissions on system folders manually through file managers (Root Explorer, etc.). Tried updating through terminal: from adb shell and from recovery. Nothing works. Folders are marked RW now, permissions are right, but apps like Root Uninstaller still can't do anything.

Well, yes. As said at the end of the last message, phone in fact appears to be rooted. I have access to /root folder and apps now ask for super-user permissions.
But some apps, like Root Uninstaller, doesn't work... However you can manually delete unwanted .apk from /system folder, it's possible.

Hi. Sorry, haven't seen this message.
TWRP: https://twrp.me/
Magisk can be found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 (or in app stores).
Hi,
Can anyone help me with my phone ZE554kL on how to root this or link me to a guide? Thanks in advance.
"Continue reading only if interested what happen."
I've never done this before and I just want to do root because my internal storage was wiped out when I was backing up all my files to PC. Windows explorer stops responding while transferring files then after the not responding issue, my internal storage is empty and when I checked my phone all the files is gone (photos, videos, PDFs).
I tried different android recovery software in windows and everytime i do a scan, i always ending up being asked by the software to root my phone so it can scan through to my internal storage.
Since my files was lost, i never touch my phone since then so nothing will be written on internal storage that could take away the chance of recovering my files.
