I'm wondering if the Z5C will get Android 7.0. Any info about it out there?

It obviously will. But it's gonna take a while. Even the Z3 series is supposed to get Nougat.

We'll receive Android N but Sony only release new OS in March, periods. Expected to receive it at late March 2017 to early April 2017, a long way to wait.
Z3/XP got invited to N beta preview but Sony no promise in the end will push out a stock release ver for them, they might only get an AOSP of N instead(better than nothing).

Well, there is no normal AOSP of M at this moment, so, is there will be N AOSP for our device
i hope they won't make worse again.. because i saw some previews
i hope
they won't remove
small apps.
screen recording.
answering machine.
4K video (although i don't have 4k Screen at home yet, i use it "like optical" zoom work great ,on FHD zoom works like digital just scratching the picture) because i have FHD screen XD.
OTG of any kid ( i use it for backup or transfer DATA to the phone with my DOK every 2 weeks , sometimes gamepad\mouse\IR adapter).
i hope they'll add
on screen button to make screen smaller for one hand(like XPeria X) i know its 4.6" but still too big for one hand, someitmes.
dual speakers for calls, or at least use the top speaker for calls (top is louder).
Storage mode addition to MTP (mtp can't do 2 operations at once also slower.
multitasking screens (can replace small apps)
on stamina mode (not ultra) can shut off even google\sony services like greenify at a moment it's gray
I would rather have kit Kat. Best Android IMO.

There is M AOSP but only for Z3/Z3c bcoz they joined Xperia MM beta program. We won't have N AOSP bcoz we don't invite to Xperia Beta program of N (only Z3 and XP, no Z5/Z5c/Z5P).

Same here. I wish my Z5c got KK, not receiving M or N but since sd810 doesn't has KK driver at all from Qualcomm, it's impossible to make a KK rom.

How come there isn't even basic ROMs for Z2 yet? No PA, No VanirAOSP and all.
I am thinking to buy this device but the dev support got me worried.
From my experience on here dev support usually takes a while on sony devices. If custom roms is your thing you should have a look at htc's phones or wait and see what progress is made with the z2.

Official CM development has already begun, (on par with the Z) which is much sooner than happened with the Z1.
Z1 had issues with unlocking the bootloader which was only resolved a few months after launch. Z2 does not have this problem.
Once CM completes the bring up other roms will follow.

I must admit, I'd like to see a completely pure AOSP ROM myself. (With one possible exception: the camera. I wouldn't want to lose any hardware features in terms of capture resolution, capture rate, full / half press shutter button, focus speed, or image quality. Couldn't care less about 4K video, but I don't know if there's a third-party app that can provide all of the above.)
I find my Xperia Z2 incredibly bloated, and while I've disabled as much as I can, there's a lot that can't be disabled without root. (And I am uncertain whether I can safely root this and change much without losing my warranty or the ability to install subsequent OTA updates without risking bricking the phone.)

Well it's a more popular phone. Not sure about somewhere else, but in Adelaide (Australia), htc is everywhere, but you can barely bump into someone with a Sony phone.
I for one would love a purer android experience, but I don't want to lose the active noise cancelling and answering machine. The thing irritates me the most on Z2 is that 'what's new' button when you long press home. Google now is not in the middle as it should.
Sure ROMs will have support when the phone is widely available, the trees are quite stable now and ready for daily driver.

I think I'll just get Z1 because it's almost similar to Z2 and has more support.
In case anyone is intrested: I currently work on a pure AOSP device tree for 4.4.4. i also planned to have some fun with L-preview but I don't know if I am able to do this.
You'll hear from me.

That's the holy grail of android. AOSP with some pumped up feature rich camera. It doesn't exist, on any device!
I ran CM11 today just to try it out. I really like the ROM but the camera is just garbage compared to Sony's software. Plus you can't start the camera from the shutter button (a huge benefit for me personally). The smoothness and customization is great, but the camera never will be.

Screen is much better on Z2.
Plus, aosp been avail on z1 much longer and to get camera to work properly you have to install a camera fix app.
Z2 has only had fully working aosp for a few weeks. You will find new developers and ROMs appearing each month so don't worry.
And on my previous phones, I rarely run pure CM but on Z2 I'm totally happy with it. Fast, smooth and with an Android L theme it looks great too.

For just a point and shoot it may be on part with OEM. One of Sony's best features might be the 120fps 720p mode. Much better than iphone5s or OPPO find7. No such option with AOSP derived third party roms.

if you install the oneplusone camera app, it will start when the phone is unlocked with the camera button. and you get a little bit of customisation.
From the looks of things though android L will bring use closer to the gold of having support for advanced camera features, rather than oems having to build there own.

Yeah I switched to Carbon for a few days and found that the general photo quality in the stock camera was pretty close, but I still missed the Sony app enough that I loaded my RomAur backup.
Honestly I could have dealt with the camera, but I had a lot of issues with AndroidWear and my Gear Live not working correctly on it... Not sure how support is on other Z2 supporting AOSP-ish ROMs at the moment but it wasn't particularly reliable there.
I definitely did like the overall experience though minus the minor issues.

I'm not asking for a pumped-up, feature-rich camera, just one that can do what the hardware is capable of. Full resolution, full burst rate, and a working shutter button. I'd prefer not to have all Sony's extra bunk like ar modes etc, to be honest.
Hi,
As you know Xz2 has a bad quality in pictures specially when we use it in night ..Is there any camera application or mod or something like that which we can use to improve quality?
Does any one knows any news about sony developers which we hope a better camera app in future?or this 20 mp camera is useless?

@ Nimadroid, how is the battery life in your 5.0.2 Lollipop rom?
As most of us already mentioned, there is a memory leak as well as battery drain in all Lollipop roms.
Scrubbers port is still the best for battery although suffers from battery leak.
What other bugs/issues have been solved? Should we expect longer lasting battery life, possibly better than Kitkat?
Has performance and speed been increased as promised?
How about camera2 api? Did sony work on it? Or same with other manufacturers.

going one by one:
doing what? only with stock apps? android doesn't have any way to fix problematic programs running in the background having locked a core and draining the battery.
doing what? also, again, what sony or any other manufacturer never says up front is that the moment you install *anything*, then it is "nope, not our problem, we are not responsible if firefox ****s everything up, memory and battery", so to say that battery is optimised or whatever, when it is not really in your hands, is misleading. At best.
benchmarks are pointless, very easy to fake and you should be ashamed for even mentioning them. at least for ten years now it is known that companies can and do optimize their software to get great benchmark scores.
Also, 5.0.2 is out... 5.1 is out... What version are we getting, exactly?
Has the content-adaptive backlight option been restored? We had it in the first z ultra rom and it saz soon removed. It is very annoying and distracting to have the brightness fluctuate based on what the screen is showing.
have the sound problems been fixed? The sound has a delay whenever the phone has been silent for a wile and there are frequent clicks and pops.
can it FINALLY play music without clicks and pops?
I am very *very* dissappointed in sony.

Yes.
Don't take this the wrong way but why?
I am trialing the Sony Z3 Compact with its official Marshmallow concept. I have a Nexus 9 running MM.
The only real advantage of MM is the battery saving features.
Other than that after a few months with the OP2 and now a week with OPx I find Oxygen a rather pleasing operating system with many distinct advantages over Lollipop.
Add to that the fact that I use Nova, and hey presto, I have a phone that with careful camera use, is a delight to use.

Why? Because I want the latest Android version on my brand new phone. I would buy a nexus phone but they are ugly as hell and the OnePlus X is no doubt the sexiest Android phone to date!

No
Only the Z3 and the Z3C have Android 6 beta (Marshmallow Concept) at the moment.
Sony is taking lot of time to release 6.0. I hope they:
- improve the camera firmware for the Z5 camera
- fix auto brightness bug with the colors (already announced)
- implement fingerprint sensor using standard Android APIs and not custom Sony stuff.

To the things you mentioned above, they got many bugs to fix across the board. Let alone the kernel contains many bugs.
Plus, the kernel's CPU power management changed if they updated the kernel to a newer CAF branch (which i suppose they did),
and it takes time for them to refactor hotplug etc.. to the updated scheduler (very likely there will be more than 1 A57 online in 6.0+)
and correctly setup stuff.
It's better they take their time and release a relativly stable firmware >>upgrade, and not a rushed firmware which ends up being worse than Lollipop.
I agree with you Tommy but I think they should have developed a Concept for the Z5 too.
The Z5 Lollipop firmware have some terrible bugs like the auto brightness bug. That should have been fixed a few months ago.
I honestly think that without a proper concept firmware we are going to have a buggy 6.X just like the current 5.1.1
I appreciate all the other info you mentioned from CAF by the way.

Not yet.
Time is not a matter. I hope they release a great working update next time
Xperiablog reported that it seems the Marshmallow update for the Z4 Tablet is being delayed, so I find it quite likely that the one for the Z5 phones is delayed as well. I would be surprised if it arrives before the middle of February.

Unconfirmed news said Z5 line 6.0 ready now and preparing to roll OTA. I think after Z3/Z3 concept ended, we will get the 6.0 at the end of this month or early next month. Hope this is true.

I think he refer to this news. "Good news coming from Turkey, namely the Facebook profile of the company. It appears to have begun the roll out of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the range Z5 . At the moment there seems to be a bit ‘of traffic on servers but the OTA was sent and is therefore only a matter of hours or at most a few days."
Unfortunately, we can't confirm whether or not it is true or fake. It's very unlikely Turchey will get it first. Turchey is the country who used F-16 to shoot down Russia SU-25 last year.
I am from Turkey and unfortunately there is no any OTA MM update yet.
It was March last year when the z3c got the lollipop update. I'll say same for z5 line and MM. Sony is officially terrible with updates.

...I hope they:
- improve the camera firmware for the Z5 camera
- fix auto brightness bug with the colors (already announced)
- implement fingerprint sensor using standard Android APIs and not custom Sony stuff.

You hit the nail on the head. The existing camera firmware and the poor fingerprint sensor recognition are my two major disappointments with my Z5C. Will be great if they can fix them.

When the Z3/Z3c Marshmallow beta concept going to end, we'll know 6.0 is real coming. The same as Galaxy S6.
It has been forever that sony updates are really late. Ive actually given up on waiting. It will come when it comes

Same here HAHAHAHAH thats the best thing to do
We've also waited for LLP and after months of struggle, Sony released it full of bugs... so they are not really taking the time to release a bug free software....they are just taking the time ^_^. Hope i'm wrong with this one.

Well...they only did a Concept for the Z3. So I'm expecting a buggy Z5 Marshmallow firmware and a more polished Z3 firm....
I hope I'm wrong.
