I have Redmi Note 3 Pro. I have been experiencing OTG connection issues. I have a KingstonDataTraveler G3 16Gb and a Sony16Gb pendrives. I tried both but they don't seem to connect. I tried to troubleshoot this by the OTG Troubleshoot app but it showed that the OTG cable was alright and it showed it was connected. Can anybody help please???
This is not the problem with your device... The otg drive will not come in es file explorer.... check the notifications when you connect an otg drive, there'll be a notification and you can use that to open the drive...
Are the sticks formatted as FAT32?
If not get app Stickmount <<< root app.

What rom is your device on?
See settings - about phone - MIUI Version.
Any chance you have a vendor rom?

I found that re-booting, with the usb device already attached, usually fixs it or, going into file explorer and issuing a 'refresh' command.
what if format for USB drive. Try formatting as FAT32. Tab does not like NTFS

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will give it a try.
Did you enable USB access on the gtab? I know I had to do that on the Vegan rom. The usb will detect but you still need to enable it for use.
How do you enable it? Or do you mean turning on usb debugging.

You can enable it in the kernel. It does work, but not for internal storage. Things need to be changed in the firmware. Wait for AOKP nozomi_lvm builds.

Any otg drive will work size does not matter. Also externally powered hdds work fine. Only issue would be file system types that are not supported by your current rom.
jokerpappu Sorry, translated by Google. (I can read - Badly I wrote a second inquiry)
cidxtc Thanks for explaining!

Notification is seen "Unsupported file format"
Finally, no option to open the 2tb hard disk in redmi note 3.
I tried the es explorer also.

well but the built in file manager still doesn't support it, I wanted to be sure.
for me works a 500gb drive without external and a 2tb with external power. could be a power issue if its without external
Doesn't the device have to support OTG? I never saw the note 3 to be advertised to support that.
2tb its a heavy load and redmi note 3 did not support admin please close this thread

Thread is old but: - Stickmount plus maybe Radon Kernel will allow access to NTFS Drives.
As long as the phone can power the drive or the drive has it's own power.
Not sure if Radon is needed but that is my setup!

Yes probably, just plug your phone to some flash memory using otg cable and then a new drive should appear with the files inside the flash, and sea if it works.
