I want to know, is it possible to change a .Xap file into .Appx file? May be quiet a foolish qus. Bt i wanna know.
My Device is Nokia Lumia 920
Currently Running Windows 10 Mobile 10586.545
I had a backup of an app.. It named Camera360.xap [it's one of my fav app & isn't available in store] [Camera360 Sight is available bt i don't like it much]
Bt this app doesn't install on Windows 10
So i want to change the file format.
Renaming it doesn't work.
I'm asking this question cz when i upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10 mobile it was working as it was installed in windows 8.1 & after update it qas working fine..bt as we know we have to reset phone after a huge upgrade...i lost the app & can't use it afterwards.
It's may not a big issue for anyone bt still if anyone has any idea regard this pls help me by some information.
Thanks.

Hello everyone!
Since Im a completely new HTC or even windows mobile user..this kind of cell makes me kind of sick...everything is so complicated...I had symbians before and it was so simply to send any kind of files to other machine...or even set a desktop image or use mp3 as a ringtone...just few clicks and everything were et one place.
On windows mobile everything needs to be set up separately...e.g. if I open an image from album..I can preview it and send vie massage or share on SN's...but cannot send it via bluetooth or set it up as a destkop image. Thats the same with MP3s.
Also I wanted to send a single cab file to other machine via BT but could not found out how.
Could somebody help me or advice me how to to that things more simple?
Thank you guys in advance!
I check and i still havent found a solution to get 7-zip http://www.7-zip.org/download.html to work on our HD2? Has anyone had a solution yet on how to make this program work? Every time i extract a file it gives me an "ERROR not enough memory"?

As far I know, Zip7 isn't support on a windows mobile device.
I can be wrong with tis statement, but I never saw it on a mobile device.

but on the 7zip download site, there is definitely an item labelled "7-Zip for Windows Mobile / Windows CE (ARM)" and it seems to work - not perfectly, but still - on my HD2
Still no solution. WOW! i guess i just have to extract the files via a PC. Meanwhile I will try find a solution to make our HD2 extract 7zip files.
I found that it was easier to just use it on the pc than piss about with it on the phone, not a particularly useful app I must say.....
I use the attached version as stated earlier it is by no means perfect but does work.
thank you lantern 20 i will give this cab. provided a try.
I've found it does work but is dependant on file size and what size of data you're trying to extract, eg, extracting kernels for android is no problem, whereas trying to extract a full android build is a no go, maybe due to the program needing full extracted data size to work with as a temp folder during extraction???
HI everyone,
I bought a HTC HD2 some days ago, and there was win mobile 6.5 and android 2.2 installed. THere were many problem on the Android OS, it was very slow, the auto-rotate function didnt work, the "water scale" didnt also work correctly etc. Win Mobile seemed to work properly...
Today, I installed android 2.2 on my storage card and everything is working fine so far. Of course, WIN MOBILE is on my phones memory. Before installing it, the phone had problems with the flashlight (dual flash), simply, it did not work. Now, it is also not working, neither under WIN Mobile nor ANDROID.
How can I check that it is a hardware failure ? Or maybe its ROM or something ?
Thank you
Please, some idea ?
What level is the battery at? As I think thart below 20% the flash stops working.
What happens in WinMo when you run the camera and select flash always on and then take a picture?
THanx for the response, I really need some help.
Under WinMo occurs the same problem, the flash is not working even if I set it to AUTO/ON/OFF.
I also considered that the image quality after taking a picture and comparing it to my friends phone, is more bad than his one
PLEASE, someone help ?
Anyone has an idea ?

Hi There
I'm not aware of any "diagnostics" modes to test hardware on the device but the first thing I would do from within Winmo is install a Torch App and try and use the torch, if the Torch app initialises the flash on the back of the phone then you know it's a OS fault whereas, if it doesn't you know it's a hardware fault with the flash module itself on the phone
Here's a link to TorchButton

Let us know how you get on
Thank You very much for the reply.
But I act as a noob.
I copied the whole unrar-ed folder to my SD and to phone, in both ways, when I try to start any of those files it says:
There is no application associated with ... Run the application first, then open this file from within the application.
How to run the application ?
Can someone just download the TORCH and explain to me how to install it
Would be very very thankful.
Can someone just explain me how to install or whatever the torch on my HD2 WIN Mobile 6.5.
THanx
anyone ?
thx
Do not unpack (unzip, unRAR) the file. Just copy it to your phone (or SD card). Use the phone's file explorer and find the file. click on it, and it will install.
.cab files are cabinet files, they pack other files inside them, just like zip files - but they are used in both Windows (the computer o/s) and the WinMo o/s as a unpack and install file (obviously the file should only be run in the desired o/s).
Thank You fred_up,
I barely did it, but the flash is still now working.
I hope its only the flex cable which is not too expensive, about 10 USD !?
Am i the only one who can't share photo via bluetooth ?

No one can share files with a stock Windows Phone 7. This is a limitation known since day one. It has been speculated that Nokia will release a file transfer app for Windows Phones to share multimedia files but nothing has been announced yet.

Hi. I'm new to this forum that I searched for an answer to my question which goes like this: Is there a REAL file manager (similar to Windows Explorer or Free Commander XE or Total Commander for PC) that shows ALL directories and files on my Windows Phone 8.1, including system files on drive C: (the SD card being called drive D: )? So far, I tried "Files", "Folders Free", "Metro Commander" and others - they all are not satisfying my requirements. Thanks for your inputs.
Which app is good? When I download a file ,then open store, but idk which app is good to open the file.
Sent from my HUAWEI C8815 using XDA Free mobile app
@veryfunny: Not really, for the same reason that there's no such app (at least, without jailbreaking) on iPhones: Microsoft has locked down access to the file system.
The closest app I know of is my own WebServer app. That one lets you request any file system path, and if it can read the path it will display the contents. If it can't display it, you'll get a message about error code 5 (ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED).
Hi GoodDayToDie
Thanks for your explanations. Sounds like Microsoft is developping the same proprietary behaviour like Apple...
I downloaded your own webserver from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43364277#post43364277 and copied it onto the download directory on the phone. However, as I'm pretty new to Windows Phone 8.1, I do not know how to install it. Would you please let a greenhorn know? Thanks so much!
