Hello
I have a Xperia Z Ultra, one week ago I installed new firmware with flashtools; after flashing I tried to turn the phone on but It didn't turn on
I tried to connect to flashtools again but didn't work.
I connected the phone into the charger for long hours after hours now when I connect the phone into the charger or usb cable the led notification just start blinking
when I connect the phone with usb into computer. it shows connect and disconnect, for ever and fast
Is there any way to fix my phone without open the back of the phone?
Are you sure, you have enough battery power?

It's not dead. Could you please tell us what you did? What did you flash? Are you rooted? Is your bootloader unlocked?

What happens when you push and hold VOL UP at the same time as you connect your Ultra to your computer? Does a blue LED light up?

Okay, so your Ultra isn't actually off when you push those buttons and feel the three vibrations. It shuts completely down when you feel those vibrations. Do what I wrote in the previous post now. It has to be completely off for it to work. Again, look for the blue LED above the screen.

Yeah, it should power it off like the other key combo. Okay, so you're not connected to the computer when you power it off right? Because that won't work since the phone will try to charge the battery and boot up the charging screen, which it won't be able to do, and therefore begin with the red LED blinking.

One think you can try is connect the phone to the PC, hold the volume up/down key and press the red rest key at the same time, might just catch the flashmode/fastboot.
I have also read that some times you have to let the phone run flat, charge with a wall charger, then try the flashmode.
I think the problem might be the lack of charge when you flashed the .290 ftf. I have seen the battery drop by over 40% on a flash of .290 - it does some weird thing with the calibration I think.

Try to run the battery down and see if that shuts it off. It might take a very long time since there's no screen on to consume the battery power. But do try to run the battery flat.
So I've been using my phone as per normal, and it suddenly switches itself off and wont turn on.
If I plug it in to charge (the batter was at 40%) I just get a blinking RED LED.
Any help / ideas guys?!

Hi Fenix
Have tried that with and without a charging lead connected and no joy. The red LED just continues to blink.
Have also tried, again with and without charge, to press the red button next the sim card slot and no luck.
How about volume down and power?

Same result.
Planning to leave the phone OFF charge all night and see if that helps, and then maybe do the opposite and keep it ON charge for a few hours maybe.
Any other advice?
Have you tried a system reset
(you can use sony PC companion to do this)
(repair device)
I have this same problem.
I have reset and re installed the rom via pc companion and same problem.
Basically the phone will not charge via the magnetic connector at all.
if you switch off the phone it will not stay off, it keeps turning its self back on again and boot looping: displaying the sony logo, then off, then sony logo again.
If you hold the power button down for 20 seconds whilst on a Sony logo, the phone boots to the experia logo and boots normally.
Problem is the phone will NOT switch off and half the time it wont come back on. Its basically a lottery on whether the phone will come back at all.
Update - managed to get the phone switched on after leaving it on charge all night. Had to hold the power button down for 30 secs to get to my home screen as otherwise it was just looping to the Sony logo.
However, now, the phone is not charging - it detects that a charger is connected but the battery level is not going up and the LED is constant orange.
What to do?
I would flash a.2.69 firmware if you don't have it already.

I'm a newb with these things - is there link for how to flash?
Not sure if it makes a difference but this phone is from Vodafone and I believe they've locked the bootloader or something similar?
Also noticed that the phone 'thinks' its still charging even without a charger connected - and the orange LED is constant.
Looks like the battery is kabooshed?

Adding to the above.
Received my Z2 on O2 onFriday 2nd, Tried charging it this morning and red charging light was on then started flashing.
That was trying to charge via a usb cable to the magnetic contact.
Re tried using standard usb cable.
Will not start regardless of what I do, on button, on + volume up, on + volume down.
Trip to O2 after work tonight to take it back.
May be a problem with the magnetic charging system, somehow shorting something out, for me anyway.
Same here, Need to return it to T-Mobile.
Same issue,
Went Off, never to be able to turn the phone on again.
When connected to the Charger, the red light blinks faster.
When connected to USB red blinking led, blinks slower.
Does not go 'On' anymore.
Recovery from pc compannion does not work.
The Update tool send by the sony technical suppport also did not recognise the device.
Windows does not recognise it.
Volume Up + power does not work
Volume Down + Power does not work
Volume Up of Down (phone turned off) connecting with USB does not work.
Red button next to the sim card does not reset the phone.
It is a Brick now, hope sony is good and replaces it with a NEW one.
I need help .. i was normally use my sony z2 d6503 and it turn off itself and i cant open it even if i put it charge only red led no logo no charging logo .. all black ..
Hi all,
Had the phone for a few weeks, no problems at all until today. Recieved a magnetic charging adaptor (the one that the micro USB plugs into) and that connects to the side of the phone.
Within seconds of this happening the screen turns off and since then i cant get it to turn back on. Ive tried the following:
1. Remove sim card and storage card
2. Power button pressed for more than 10 seconds
3. Power button and volume up same time for more than 10 seconds
4. Power button and volume down same time for more than 10 seconds
Im at a loss how to fix this. Battery was more than 80% when it happended so its not that but when on charge, i get a flashing red light (never seen before, different to the orange solid charging light).
Is it bricked etc.
I havent tried a hard reset (little red button) but dont want to lose my data so leaving that as a last resort
Ps Phone is stock, not flashed, rooted etc and no dodgy apps to corrupt the phone in any way
I would be willing to send to Sony but if they are just going to do a hard reset, id rather attempt that myself and save weeks in waiting for them to do this.
Any ideas greatly appreciated

sorry should of mentioned ive tried this without success. Screen still wont turn on (i assume phone too as i cant hear any sounds) and still have the red flashing light.
What i meant before was that i havent pressed the red button for 3 seconds to simulate a hard reset (well i read that somewhere on net as to how to hard reset it)
Update: I cant even hard reset it, nothing happens so its definitely bricked
Hopefully only being 1.5 weeks old, ill get a replacement vs Optus/Sony trying to fix it.
I hope this helps but if you plug it in while pressing the vol+ button does the led turn blue? if it does then do that and fastboot reboot

Sony are pretty good in Australia. You should have a 30 day handset guarantee and instant replacement. :good:

Unfortunately its either no light or flashing red when plugged on charge. vol+ or any combination of vol-, vol whilst holding power etc all do nothing
I used to be able to bring my S3 back from death and that was rooted, custom kernel, ROM etc so disappointed this new stock Sony died in less than 2 weeks

Yep although without being plugged in the magnetic connector will adhere either way. The one i have has the symbol facing up but if you were in a hurry, fumbling around at night whilst putting it on charge etc, i wouldnt have thought it would fry the motherboard so that it bricks the phone.
Im paranoid about the magnetic charging option.
In future ill just stick with the microUSB lol

Ordered it from Optus so they will send a reply paid packaging, i send back my phone and within 3 business days they'll send it back fixed (if easily done which i know its not) or a replacement.
Alternative, go into an Optus shop with their purchase order, papaerwork when purchased etc and if they believe its faulty, they'll issue a new one (id be shocked if they can turn it on).
They said after 30 days its a more difficult process.
I even had a tempered glass screen protector on it but cant be bothered trying to fight for that. I just want a new phone but annoyed i lost photos, videos and other files that was stored internally. I have no way to retreive, back it up now.
Im keeping everything backed up and on my SD card from now on. Dont trust the internal storage for situations just like this
I used similar adapter with z1 and if I connected wrong way it would cause phone to cut out and reset.
The little Red button, plug your phone in correct USB charge port and press and hold the red reset switch for 10 seconds.

Just a second, there's a wrong way and a right way of connecting these magnetic chargers?
That would be terrible and such an easy mistake to make!
At the very least there should be a glow in the dark "THIS WAY UP!" sticker on it, plus a red warning letter to accompany it!
I wouldn't think so but in this case it's irrelevant anyway as it was correct way up.

My thoughts exactly.no warning label, disclosure etc. It was daylight so was watching what I was doing as I just received it, first time using but I can imagine many fumbling around connecting it before sleeping, maybe in the car or just in a rush applying it.
It's like the micro usb cable, who looks when connecting it to the phone,I don't. If it doesn't fit,I just turn it around and connect it. Besides a magnetic dock which forces you to connect it a certain way I definitely won't use a magnetic adaptor ever again, far to easy to stuff up and in my case it stuffed up my phone even though it was connected properly so it's like Russian roulette lol

Hello Guy,
I had kept My RN3 pro con charge last night and when I woke up, It was really hot and switched off. I tried to boot it up but no response. Tried to plug it in to the wall charger and notification LED started to blink. Tried to put it to fastboot mode but no success. Now when I am hooking it to PC no response. When I am hooking upto wall charger top left side is getting really hot on the back side.
What shall I do?

As you see I have already mentioned about the fastboot. Went to service center and they say it is officially dead and mother board needs to be replaced.
I have searched the forum but cannot find a solution that works for me....
I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and the Resolution Remix ROM and that all worked fine. But I wanted to try a different ROM so I installed the Xiaomi.eu ROM and now my phone won't do anything at all. I don't think the EU ROM installed properly (although I did not get an error message when installing) and when I rebooted the phone it just went blank and now does not work at all.
No combination of buttons will turn the phone on or enter Fastboot or TWRP. I cannot do anything with the phone at all. Can someone please help?

See, after flashing MIUI based ROM, or doing some changes to it, flashing LazyFlasher avoids the risks of Bootloop.
But it atleast should boot to the Mi logo screen.
Try holding the power key for 10+ seconds. It forces device to restart when it gets hanged. Try it.

I've held down the power button for more than 10 seconds, even 2-3 minutes and nothing happens. I don't think it is in a bootloop, it is not doing anything at all - no Mi logo screen, no LED.
The only thing it does is flash a red LED light when it is connected to my laptop or the the main power but it definitely has charge on it.

I charged the phone for a while and the red light stopped flashing. The phone will still not turn on or go into fastboot or TWRP. When I hold the power button down for a while the red light starts flashing again.
Also, when I connect the phone to my laptop, Device Manager only recognizes the device as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4). It does not show up in any other way.

Seriously, if I were facing this problem, I would have left my phone on charge and would have tried holding the power button again and again. Because it worked many times for me. A buggy RN3 made me suffer a lot this way. And it has worked.
But you may try the battery fix. Open the back case and do the required fix. I'll fetch you the related screenshot. Wait.

Pls forget for once that your phone was charged, it's not charged right now or the battery connection is poor. I faced the red LED problem and charging and continous power button pressing was the only solution. And one more user is reporting the same. So, just forget for once that your phone is charged.

Just to update. When I charge the phone the red light flashes for a couple of minutes and then stops. There is no yellow light to say that it is charging. This applies to both laptop and mains charging. I also took the back cover off and disconnected the battery and USB cable for a little while to make sure the phone was off before reconnecting.
I tried to connect to the phone with the MiFlash tool but it says it cannot read from the device. As I said before, when I connect the phone to my laptop Device Manager recognizes the device as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. Some threads seem to think this is a good thing but it hasn't helped me.
I am continuing to 'charge' the phone but does anyone have any advice if this doesn't help?

Just to update. When I charge the phone the red light flashes for a couple of minutes and then stops. There is no yellow light to say that it is charging. I've tried all combinations of buttons but nothing works. The phone just won't turn on into any mode. If I can just turn it on I can flash it again and fix it I think.
The only response I'm getting is a blinking red light for a couple of minutes when connected to laptop or mains. Someone must know what this means?
Can anyone confirm that a blinking red light and the fact that the phone shows up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 in Device Manager suggests that the phone is in EDL mode when connected to a laptop?
