Hi all,
Had the phone for a few weeks, no problems at all until today. Recieved a magnetic charging adaptor (the one that the micro USB plugs into) and that connects to the side of the phone.
Within seconds of this happening the screen turns off and since then i cant get it to turn back on. Ive tried the following:
1. Remove sim card and storage card
2. Power button pressed for more than 10 seconds
3. Power button and volume up same time for more than 10 seconds
4. Power button and volume down same time for more than 10 seconds
Im at a loss how to fix this. Battery was more than 80% when it happended so its not that but when on charge, i get a flashing red light (never seen before, different to the orange solid charging light).
Is it bricked etc.
I havent tried a hard reset (little red button) but dont want to lose my data so leaving that as a last resort
Ps Phone is stock, not flashed, rooted etc and no dodgy apps to corrupt the phone in any way
I would be willing to send to Sony but if they are just going to do a hard reset, id rather attempt that myself and save weeks in waiting for them to do this.
Any ideas greatly appreciated
Little red button is like a restart, you wont loose anything by pressing it

sorry should of mentioned ive tried this without success. Screen still wont turn on (i assume phone too as i cant hear any sounds) and still have the red flashing light.
What i meant before was that i havent pressed the red button for 3 seconds to simulate a hard reset (well i read that somewhere on net as to how to hard reset it)
Update: I cant even hard reset it, nothing happens so its definitely bricked
Hopefully only being 1.5 weeks old, ill get a replacement vs Optus/Sony trying to fix it.
I hope this helps but if you plug it in while pressing the vol+ button does the led turn blue? if it does then do that and fastboot reboot
Did you plug it in the right way round?

Sony are pretty good in Australia. You should have a 30 day handset guarantee and instant replacement. :good:

Unfortunately its either no light or flashing red when plugged on charge. vol+ or any combination of vol-, vol whilst holding power etc all do nothing
I used to be able to bring my S3 back from death and that was rooted, custom kernel, ROM etc so disappointed this new stock Sony died in less than 2 weeks

Yep although without being plugged in the magnetic connector will adhere either way. The one i have has the symbol facing up but if you were in a hurry, fumbling around at night whilst putting it on charge etc, i wouldnt have thought it would fry the motherboard so that it bricks the phone.
Im paranoid about the magnetic charging option.
In future ill just stick with the microUSB lol

Ordered it from Optus so they will send a reply paid packaging, i send back my phone and within 3 business days they'll send it back fixed (if easily done which i know its not) or a replacement.
Alternative, go into an Optus shop with their purchase order, papaerwork when purchased etc and if they believe its faulty, they'll issue a new one (id be shocked if they can turn it on).
They said after 30 days its a more difficult process.
I even had a tempered glass screen protector on it but cant be bothered trying to fight for that. I just want a new phone but annoyed i lost photos, videos and other files that was stored internally. I have no way to retreive, back it up now.
Im keeping everything backed up and on my SD card from now on. Dont trust the internal storage for situations just like this
I used similar adapter with z1 and if I connected wrong way it would cause phone to cut out and reset.
The little Red button, plug your phone in correct USB charge port and press and hold the red reset switch for 10 seconds.

I know its magnetic etc but really wouldnt have thought it would cause a reset or im my case a bricked phone (and in my case i had it turned around the right way).
I tried again and held the red button down for 10 seconds and on second attempt 20 seconds whilst on charge but unfortunately nothing.
Warranty it, and I wouldn't mention the magnetic charger if I were you.

Agreed
Just a second, there's a wrong way and a right way of connecting these magnetic chargers?
That would be terrible and such an easy mistake to make!
At the very least there should be a glow in the dark "THIS WAY UP!" sticker on it, plus a red warning letter to accompany it!
I wouldn't think so but in this case it's irrelevant anyway as it was correct way up.

My thoughts exactly.no warning label, disclosure etc. It was daylight so was watching what I was doing as I just received it, first time using but I can imagine many fumbling around connecting it before sleeping, maybe in the car or just in a rush applying it.
It's like the micro usb cable, who looks when connecting it to the phone,I don't. If it doesn't fit,I just turn it around and connect it. Besides a magnetic dock which forces you to connect it a certain way I definitely won't use a magnetic adaptor ever again, far to easy to stuff up and in my case it stuffed up my phone even though it was connected properly so it's like Russian roulette lol

Issue: when I power down it doesn't fully power down or something. As soon as I plug in charger after power down it starts powering up on it's own. In other words I can never get the battery charging indicator it just powers right back up.
I had this issue with my epic to, so it's something I'm removing or doing. Never could figure it out. I can be the only with this issue. I believe developers found something about the reboot button and canceling. It's like when you choose reboot than cancel you get stuck with this issue.

I had this same problem - but only when using a specific aftermarket charger. Another aftermarket charger and the stock charger were fine.

I guarantee its the charger and not the cable. When I discovered my one charger had this problem I swapped the cable to another charger. Both chargers have a USB outlet and aren't hard-wired. Same cable, but now no problem.

so your saying that my computer is the one thats causing the boot loop while trying to get a full charge from a fully dead battery? cause that is my issue atm but it seemed to only happen with this one specific cable
My griffin charger (http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Power...9U8Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331680656&sr=8-1) causes the phone to power back on, but I was only trying to power it off one day while it was charging at work.
Side story: forgot my wall chargers at home. Was a boring 12 hour security shift with the power this thing tends to pull off the charger.
OK so I was streaming radio via TuneIn Pro, like I do every weekday, and in the middle of listening the device shut itself off and now wont turn back on. had it charging over night. I tried the voldwn+pwr for 30 seconds, tried just holding the power button down for 10 second, then tried holding down for 30sec
when plugged into the wall I get no activity light, no button lights, or screen lights
phones unlocked with most recent build of CM10.1
I cant find specific instructions on hard resets for the one so I was following the ones I found for the s/x, anything else to try?
hardware issues
its hareware issues?

I had this same issue. I would love to know how and what you did to get yours this way.
I went and tried a few ROMs. The last being the PAC (International) ROM v1.6 with the newest gapps.
It was working for for a day and then the battery died and it won't boot or show anything at all on the screen when holding down any buttons.
They want to replace it via warranty with a like-new device, but I am not sure about that since I bought it 5 days ago. Heading to the AT&T store tomorrow morning to figure this crap out.

I was using my phone earlier, and everything was normal. I put it in my pocket when using my computer, but when I pulled it out to use it, the device was off. I pressed the power button. Nothing. Held the power button down. Nothing. Held the power button + volume down. Nothing, again.
The phone was fully charged three hours ago when I unplugged it, and when I plug it in now there are no lights turning on.
I'm incredible confused and a bit scared. Has this happened to anyone else? What do I do?

Make sure you are holding the power button for at least 30 seconds. IF that doesn't work, try power and volume down for 30 seconds. If that doesn't work, leave on the charger for an hour, then try again, both plugged in, and unplugged

Most of them just reset the battery by disconnecting it and reconnecting it. I'm sure there is a way to reset it with a combination of buttons. Maybe go call htc the support is actually really good I haven't had any bad interactions with them in the 2 instances I called. This should also be covered on the year warranty and they should replace it for free since it has not been a year yet. I would call.

I am having this exact issue with my Droid DNA. The circumstances are exactly the same. Two weeks ago, I stuck my phone into my pocket, took it out five minutes later and the device was off. Since then, Everything I've tried to get it to turn on has not worked. I even got a replacement battery however nothing.
When on the charger, all it does is blink the red light no matter how long I leave it on. I'm desperate as this phone is a second hand purchase and not on warranty. Also, I live in the Caribbean so I don't have many options for getting it fixed/replaced. I've tried every button combination, searched many forums and tried many suggestions.
Is there anybody who may have ANY other ideas to get this phone to work?
The phone is not rooted.
Verizon doesn't care if its soff and htc don'ts care. Verizon just isn't allowed to give you service if they know if soff.

Okay, so your Ultra isn't actually off when you push those buttons and feel the three vibrations. It shuts completely down when you feel those vibrations. Do what I wrote in the previous post now. It has to be completely off for it to work. Again, look for the blue LED above the screen.

Yeah, it should power it off like the other key combo. Okay, so you're not connected to the computer when you power it off right? Because that won't work since the phone will try to charge the battery and boot up the charging screen, which it won't be able to do, and therefore begin with the red LED blinking.

One think you can try is connect the phone to the PC, hold the volume up/down key and press the red rest key at the same time, might just catch the flashmode/fastboot.
I have also read that some times you have to let the phone run flat, charge with a wall charger, then try the flashmode.
I think the problem might be the lack of charge when you flashed the .290 ftf. I have seen the battery drop by over 40% on a flash of .290 - it does some weird thing with the calibration I think.

Try to run the battery down and see if that shuts it off. It might take a very long time since there's no screen on to consume the battery power. But do try to run the battery flat.
Hi everyone. I bought my Xperia Z2 (Taiwan Ver.) in Hong Kong.
It was still OK yesterday and sometimes I charged it,
it didn't detect and it's not charging. This may be the problem of my power line because I changed the other one and it worked.
And I charged it with the problem one and it showed "Charging".
This morning I just couldn't turn on my phone. I tried many plugs, USB lines and it showed nothing. Then I used the dock to charge but it didn't work.
Please help! I don't think they will fix it for free......
These are the symptoms:
1. No response even trying Volume UP + Power button and many other combination for pressing at least 30 seconds each time
2. No response when connecting to PC
3. Plugged into the original charger and couldn't feel any heat from charger nor Z2
4. Tried the red button next to SIM card slot still not working
5. Charged it for a very very long time still no response
PLEASE HELP!
========FIXED========
1.Using mobile charger (5v ~ 2.5A) and remove SIM card and SD card if you have one
2.Plug mobile charger into Z2
3.Press Start button of the charger
4.Nearly the same time press the Power button of Z2 (with Volume Up I guess because I pressed it too)
5.Then Z2 may turn on the red LED light
Tips: I tried so many times, I guess the time of pressing charger and Z2 power button is important because I tried many times /.\ Hope you guys won;t get this problem. And I got this problem is because of drained battery, DON'T EVER LET THE BATTERY'S POWER BE LOWER THEN 10% IS THE SAFEST!
Leave it on charging for a while, its a normal issue when the battery completely depletes. Don't worry.
I'd suggest leaving it on charge all day, do check after 4-6 hours tho.

Thanks I will wait :crying:
But when I use my mobile charger (6600mah) to charge, it didn't show that it is charging as the light of charger will be blinking if it is charging.

Just wait. And use an electric socket for it, or the dock.

Also here should be a small button just below the micro usb port. Try holding that in for ten seconds using a toothpick and then try booting up.

It doesn't even turn on its led light.
I honestly don't know then. I don't actually have the phone yet. I'm kinda out of ideas. Maybe try plugging it into a pc and seeing if anything gets recognised? If not just take it back, it's obviously not right

I don't understand why posting such a problem here on the forum.. would it be easier if you just use the warranty and go to any sony centre near by???!!
of course if you didn't void the warranty
no offence meant. but I see many people complaining even for a small things or complaining about things that can be easily fixed by warranty from Sony..
plus this phone is still not yet available everywhere. so many people don't know about it.. better just go to Sony center..
Good luck

Well I am going to the shop I bought this phone (Not official SONY shop or carrier as Z2 is not available in Hong Kong officially) and let them fix it. I don't know if they are going to send it hack to Taiwan to fit it or fix it themselves (Hope not)
And I post my question here because I think it is better to fix it myself because it takes time to take my phone to the shop and to wait it to get fixed. I am sorry for posting this stupid question and I still hope for another reply to solve my problem.
