Phone wont turn on - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello Guy,
I had kept My RN3 pro con charge last night and when I woke up, It was really hot and switched off. I tried to boot it up but no response. Tried to plug it in to the wall charger and notification LED started to blink. Tried to put it to fastboot mode but no success. Now when I am hooking it to PC no response. When I am hooking upto wall charger top left side is getting really hot on the back side.
What shall I do?
Thanks in advanced

Try to go to fastboot, if it vibrates then display is dead.

And if it doesn't, better go to service centre, some circuit must have fired

As you see I have already mentioned about the fastboot. Went to service center and they say it is officially dead and mother board needs to be replaced.

Is my battery fried?

So I've been running CM9 nightlies on my phone for a for a while now and everything has been working great. I believe the last nightly I flashed was 5/12 or around there and I've had no problems with it so far until last night my battery was about to die. So I plugged it in to my computer to charge overnight. This morning when I woke up I noticed the phone was dead and was pretty warm to the touch. Now it won't turn on.
I have tried pulling out the battery and letting them both sit for about 30min but it still won't turn on. When I put the battery in and try turning it on the charging icon pops up for a second or 2 then goes away and sometimes it will flash on and off. I think it could be the battery because if I take the battery out and try going in to download mode it will turn on to the initial warning screen warning about flashing and what not. If i put the battery in at this point it immediately shuts off. I just don't know how it could go from working fine to not working at all overnight.
Anyone have any suggestions? The phone is only about 4 months old.
Use your wall charger to charge it.

Sorry I should have added that to the original post, plugging directly into the wall is what I have been trying today and still no luck.
He means why in the world would u plug your phone into your computer to charge especially if it was almost dead. Next time i would just use the standard wall charger from the get go if you're looking to fully charge it.

Every phone that I have ever owned with a USB port I have charged through the USB port from a computer, and I have never once had an issue. When I plugged it in the battery symbol changed to charging so I didn't think anything of it. When I woke up it was dead.

^ This.. I mean yes you can use USB to charge, but USB isn't as reliable for everyday use...
I pulled the battery and then let it sit for about 30 min and then charged from the wall charger for about 30 minutes and it still will not even turn on.
Order a new battery off Amazon or something.
Will it power on with the battery in and the wall charger connected?

I'm thinking that's what I'm going to do. Might take it to Best Buy and see if they can check it since the phone is only 4 months old. Not holding my breath on that though.
Phone will not turn on with the battery in while plugged in to the wall charger. I can see the battery symbol with the little circle when I first plug it in but it goes away after a second or so. The only way I can get the phone to turn on is if I remove the battery, hold the volume buttons and plug the USB cable in while connected to a PC. This brings up the download mode warning screen asking to continue. If i put the battery in at this screen it shuts off. If I hit continue with the battery out if shuts off. I guess the only thing to do is try another battery.
Does it taste like chicken? If so, then its probably fried.

Replace the battery.
welp apparently it fixed itself. I just left the battery in it and let it sit powered off for the rest of the work day and when I was leaving work ready to head to Best Buy just out of curiousity I plugged it into my car charger and it magically turned on. Now the wall charger and USB charging are working as well. No clue what that was all about but works for me. Thanks for the replies guys.
Bah same thing is happening to me with my sgs2. It just keeps showing the battery charging screen then going off. Any ideas?

Your battery should be dead. My dad had exactly the same experience as you did. Try calling att for a new battery if the phone still in warranty.
USB charging is just unreliable: different motherboards may even supply slightly different voltages. Although it doesn't make a difference in normal use, adding a near empty battery to the equation complicates things.

Will not power on at all..

My S3 was functional when I plugged it into the charger and went to bed last night, woke up at around 8 am, checked my emails and went back to sleep. When I woke back up the phone was in a powered down state (still hooked up to the charger). From that point on it has not powered back up at all, no logo, nothing.
I have tried pulling the battery, hooking it up to computer, trying to power up with just charger and no battery and everything else I can think of. Anyone face a situation like this or is my phone dead?

Try that
Plug off from charger pull battery out.
Take a coin and hold it on every contact from the battery contatcs of your phone.
All metal pins the same time
Hold the coin a few seconds on all pins.
Relese the coin plug in the charger. Than the battery and try to power on

You should try using a different battery

Have you tried booting into recovery and doing a factory reset?
Had a similar random problem on my sgs1 & sgs3 and that got me back in.

Should probably add that each time I had the same problem I had let the battery run out completely. Phone just appeared dead after an overnight charge and would not boot other than in recovery.

need a quick tip please

have the razr, not fully used anymore.. use it in my daughter's room to play music.. she let it die, unpluged it.. It's always had an issue chargeing up from dead.. I know the USB port is iffy, cuz it will only work with certain cords to charge it.. I plug it in, and has the white light that's on for anywhere from 1-5 min.. i keep plugging it in and trying to put a charge on it.. but its been almost a week and I can't get a charge..any ideas?

Yes, if the battery gets too low, the firmware needed to control charging can not load. If you see the white light, charging should be hardware controlled, which is very slow. This could take a couple days, but any more than that it's probably not charging.
Several possibilities.
Battery could be bad, buy a new battery.
Charge port is bad, could be fixed, but likely not worth it.
Sometimes when a motorola device's battery gets too low, it just will not charge, like it didn't shut down properly.
A few things you could try
Connect to PC, for a hour or so, then retry a wall charger for several hours.
Hold volume down, connect to pc, if you see the AP fastboot mode, post complete screen text, then try wall charger again
Buy a fastboot cable, connect to pc with fastboot cable, while holding volume down, if you see AP fastboot screen, post full full screen text.
Try the MacGyver Method
---------- Post added at 06:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:15 PM ----------
Another option is disconnect the battery for a min or so
Motorola Droid RAZR Battery Replacement
you would need to pry off back cover, and remove 1 or both of the battery terminal screws with a T5 Torx Screwdriver.
Then screw it back in, and try charging again.
i've already replaced the battery, when I was useing it, I converted it to the razr maxx. So I know the battery is fine. I didn't think about trying the computer.. i'll give that a shot.. thanks!

RN3P Wont turn on

Hello.
I had my smartphone on 30-40% of battery and i locked the screen. After a while i tried to unlock the device but seems like it was turned off so i tried to start the device again and it wont boot, cant boot recovery or anything i tried almost everything. If i charge the phone the led starts to blink red but after a while it stopped and there is no light right now, although it will flash red light if i try to turn the device on while its charging.
Please help!! I just bought the phone like 3 weeks ago
It could be a hardware fault, and so it's a warranty case.
But before: try an other charger. Let it plugged it at least half hour. Press and keep power button at least 30 seconds. If it doesn't start then it's a hardware fault. It happens...
Seems like its dead. Tried that, also i let the phone charging all night, still nothing. No more red light unless i press the power button for a while.
Try to connect to PC. Check what it shows in device manager.

I think I've bricked my phone - can anyone please help?

I have searched the forum but cannot find a solution that works for me....
I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and the Resolution Remix ROM and that all worked fine. But I wanted to try a different ROM so I installed the Xiaomi.eu ROM and now my phone won't do anything at all. I don't think the EU ROM installed properly (although I did not get an error message when installing) and when I rebooted the phone it just went blank and now does not work at all.
No combination of buttons will turn the phone on or enter Fastboot or TWRP. I cannot do anything with the phone at all. Can someone please help?

Are you sure your phone is charged?
If it's charged, it at least would boot to the Mi Splash Screen. Put it to charge for some time.

It had 80% battery on it when I flashed the ROM so it must still have battery left.

See, after flashing MIUI based ROM, or doing some changes to it, flashing LazyFlasher avoids the risks of Bootloop.
But it atleast should boot to the Mi logo screen.
Try holding the power key for 10+ seconds. It forces device to restart when it gets hanged. Try it.

I've held down the power button for more than 10 seconds, even 2-3 minutes and nothing happens. I don't think it is in a bootloop, it is not doing anything at all - no Mi logo screen, no LED.
The only thing it does is flash a red LED light when it is connected to my laptop or the the main power but it definitely has charge on it.

See, if it's showing the red LED, just put it to charge with another charger. I had a RN3 stuck in the same situation, tried pressing the button for long and did everything I could get to know. But then left it to charge for half an hour with another charger and tried holding the power button once more and it did the job. Maybe it was my luck.

I charged the phone for a while and the red light stopped flashing. The phone will still not turn on or go into fastboot or TWRP. When I hold the power button down for a while the red light starts flashing again.
Also, when I connect the phone to my laptop, Device Manager only recognizes the device as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4). It does not show up in any other way.

Seriously, if I were facing this problem, I would have left my phone on charge and would have tried holding the power button again and again. Because it worked many times for me. A buggy RN3 made me suffer a lot this way. And it has worked.
But you may try the battery fix. Open the back case and do the required fix. I'll fetch you the related screenshot. Wait.

I won't recommend doing this, but it is what it is.
Someone else might help you better. But this is all what I could get. Keep in mind this is for RN3. But except for the EDL method, all procedures are nearly same.

Pls forget for once that your phone was charged, it's not charged right now or the battery connection is poor. I faced the red LED problem and charging and continous power button pressing was the only solution. And one more user is reporting the same. So, just forget for once that your phone is charged.

Just to update. When I charge the phone the red light flashes for a couple of minutes and then stops. There is no yellow light to say that it is charging. This applies to both laptop and mains charging. I also took the back cover off and disconnected the battery and USB cable for a little while to make sure the phone was off before reconnecting.
I tried to connect to the phone with the MiFlash tool but it says it cannot read from the device. As I said before, when I connect the phone to my laptop Device Manager recognizes the device as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. Some threads seem to think this is a good thing but it hasn't helped me.
I am continuing to 'charge' the phone but does anyone have any advice if this doesn't help?

I've tried all combinations of buttons but nothing works. The phone just won't turn on into any mode. If I can just turn it on I can flash it again and fix it I think.
The only response I'm getting is a blinking red light for a couple of minutes when connected to laptop or mains. Someone must know what this means?
Can anyone confirm that a blinking red light and the fact that the phone shows up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 in Device Manager suggests that the phone is in EDL mode when connected to a laptop?
