Help about info on LG V10 - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello friends. I want to buy this phone, but as I can read from all around the internet, it seems to have the same bootloop issue like the G4.
Now, my question is - I see that the variant I want to buy is LG-H960a and the phone manufacturing date is Feb 19, 2016, so is there any way to tell that the phone is going to suffer from a bootloop issue?
Any help is appreciated , thank you!

Hi,
I own the H960A (European version) for a couple of months now (June 2016) and have never experienced any bootloops, random reboots or whatsoever. My H960A runs with the latest Marshmallow (V20b), is rooted, TWRP and Xposed are installed. No issues at all. Sure, the SoC could be a better one but the phone makes a lot of fun. I probably will not change it for the next two years as with the great camera it does all I need perfectly or at least very good.

I am using Tmobile H901 with manufacturing date of Oct. 2015. So far working great with 0 issue, it is a great device. There are only few cases of bootloop on internet, most of them could be fake as they came when V20 was announced, just to create bad image by competitors.

Too many issues?

I just bought this phone through an Amazon Warehouse Deal, but I am quite worried now. There are so many issues being reported and I don't want to have a nightmare. Is this just an old batch? Is there a new batch that fixed these problems? Are these problems happening to new LG g5s as well?

I've had my H850 since May last year (so also an old batch) and have absolutely no issues with it. I think it just seems like everybody has problems because generally people that don't have any won't post saying "I have no issues!"
It's a great phone - just check it out right when you get it and test everything you can before unlocking it. That way if you do happen to have one of the troubled devices you can still return it and get it replaced

no one takes the time of day to post that they have no issues like previous poster said but will jump all over "i got issues help me"
i got a used g5 from release day and everything seems to be wonderful on it other than some scratches on the camers which is previous owner not g5s fault.
3 days now no root and i love it to death completly satisfied
i´m sorry to tell you that i´m one of the owners of this phone who can report issues. My GPS, after a few week, started to fail. I´ve read that it's a common problem.

I've had my h830 for well over a year, the only problem I had was a bit of image retention. The phone itself works just fine
You're quite worried now.... AFTER buying it?
Should have done your homework first.
Hi all,
im thinking about an upgrade to my g4 and now i try to do my homework as our fellow colleague above said. is it worth it? is there a better alternative in the lg g5 price range? camera, battery wise and so on? ill try to look at the known issues and get an idea but also would like some opinions from owners. Thanks all!

Considering the camera, I believe there is no better alternative at this price range. If the camera is not a concern for you, I suggest a Moto G5 for much better battery.
As the owner of two G5s, my first one the screen tore in half (white snow issue like G4) and never fixed itself, my second the screen started ghosting so bad from the previous frame that when going from a white to black application, you could see the entire previous frames. Coworker of mine also had his G5 break on him and he upgraded to the G6. Seems like there are a lot of quality control issues.
I've had an H820 since the beginning of March this year. I decided to buy it despite all the complaints as I am not a heavy user: no gaming, no movie streaming, no FB live broadcasts, etc. Additionally, I do not plan to swap out the battery with any regularity nor use the camera module. It appears to me that many of the problems associated with this phone (and many othersfor that matter) track back to users who are on their phone all the time, i.e. encountering high battery discharge rates. The modular battery may have a design problem, but if it is not removed--or very carefully so--its moot. So far I have not had a problem with the GPS; I've had better, but it's certainly usable. The screen is very difficult to read in the bright sun, but then, which ones aren't? Battery life is acceptable; again, if you are a gamer maybe not.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that LG made some manufacturing changes to address some of these problems in later production runs, but I cannot prove or disprove that.
It has quite a bit of bloatware and is not rootable with no prospect of being so in the near future. I have disabled almost all of the packaged apps, but the last time I looked whatever was left and or still using memory was occupying a fair amount of system memory. I don't have a great number of apps.
My prior phone was an LG G2. It's now in my wife's hands and still working reliably; she FB's a bit, but no movies or games. The GPS could be better, but that's not a deal breaker. It is no secret that the battery life is better than the G5.

Rear Camera has stopped working since Android 7.0 upgrade (H962)

I have to answer yes to this, but after a return to LG via my ebay seller (with the phone being under a year old) within the last month, I had the phone come back in working condition.
I've since upgraded to the latest official supported version of the OS, (7.0) (V30b-TWN-XX) and now... the back camera doesn't work.
Has anyone had this happen yet? It is kind of mentioned here though. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73107988&postcount=6
I went crazy thinking that the battery had broken it, that I went and bought a new camera module.
I'm thinking it's software related and that they forgot to include the camera module driver in the OS build. I could be wrong...
But the other frustrating thing is that now the phone screams that the battery is not an LG battery - which it certainly is (still the original) when I restart the phone.
I love this phone, but the issues are driving me crazy that I'm even considering going to the dark side.
Ta.

There are several issues with the g5. Including screen retention. Gps issues. And some bottom module issues but a good phone.
Please use our wonderful search functions and you should be able to find most of them....
Wifi Issues
Yeah, I bought mine in October and have had problems with Wifi dropping out several times per hour and none of the suggestions listed around the web have fixed it. It turns out this is a known issue with the phone. Not turning off Wifi Scanning under Location, not disabling mobile network switching, not whiping cache partition. I haven't done a FDR yet. Also, if you get the Sprint version and upgrade from 6.0 to 7.0 it will lock the previously unlocked handset to Sprint only. I hope this was helpful. Good luck:good:

VS9902BA update

VS9902BA Update
Android Security Patch Level: 2017-12-01
This software update provides improved HD Voice video call screens and the latest Android security patches.
You'll see an LTE icon when your video calls are using an LTE network
It would be nice to get Nougat eventually.
On a side note my phone got the bootloop of death recently and LG still fixed it for free and listed it as under warranty.

Hey, today is the 6th.
-patiently waiting to hear something-

Just checked with Verizon; No update to Nougat for the V10 coming any time soon.
There is not going to be any Nougat update for this phone, it is pretty obvious. Verizon have abandoned all support on it. LG updated it about a year ago, and T-Mobile pushed the update to their phones in March of 2017. I love Android devices, and I own a V10, but face it...if you want a phone with long term support and updates, you have to buy an iPhone.

I've never owned a Apple device of any kind and not going to start.
The only smart phone I've owned that I really, really, liked was the Amazon Fire Phone, which I rooted and ran Cyanogen on. Cyanogen was lightening fast compared to the locked down Fire OS (it wasn't loaded with spyware and other crap). But two things ruined it for me. My wife dropped her Fire Phone and shattered it. We then found it was unrepairable. We were moving and I found there was little support for GSM phones service in the small town we were moving to. Only choice we had; Verizon. And here we are. The V10 was $500 each when we bought them and it was the phone with every feature you would want. Still a nice phone but it is so loaded with Verizon crap ware it is maddening. I long to be free.
Now Cyanogen is gone; out of business. The project has been forked to LineageOS. Since there is no hope to root the V10 and cast off the crapware laden Android; this this phone has been a disappointment.

I do not love or hate Apple devices. I am a light phone user and this year I was just going to buy an iPhone 8 plus or X and have it be the last phone I ever buy. The phone would only really be used for emergencies, texting, and an app or two. I too am tired of the crapware the carriers put on the Android phone. It would not be too bad if you could uninstall it. After all, it is my phone and I should be able to use it as I want. The V10 had everything I wanted in a phone when I bought it. A great screen, removable battery, 64GB storage, micro sd card slot, etc. Now it looks like this V10 will be my last phone as the new ones have been priced way above I think a phone is worth. I am not disappointed in the V10, so I guess it is not all that bad. I am just an electronics addict and I loved upgrading every few years!

EPIC Fail...
I have both an Android and an iPhone. Android has it's issues but it is far less annoying than my iPhone. I despise this iPhone but it's my work phone so I cannot get rid of it.

Question Any information about Android 13

We got the information by early November, but still nothing happened. Anyone with some information when this is gonna be released?
There was new update for japanese version 2 days ago...not sure if its patch or new version https://xpericheck.com/SOG09/24936126
I ve got US 62 model and the only thing i ve got so far is security update.
Hope they fix wifi because its awfull at least on mine.
nope not even a new security patch
that's Sony guy's
I have the Xperia 5 IV XQ-CQ72 and i got update notification but still on Android 12. no 13 yet.
I have Xperia 5 IV XQ-CQ72 too. No 13 either, but I just bought the phone (Black Friday acquisition). I'm new to Sony family, previously I had a few Vivo phones. So far I'm impressed. It's amazing how Japanese squeeze such a lot of electronics into a small phone, even a 5Ah battery, and everything works flawlessly.
I'm glad that I don't experience two issues usually mentioned in phone reviews - overheating and unreliable fingerprint.
I don't have a chance to really test the camera, though. But on the first sight it looks more promising than I expected. After all, I came from Vivo.

The phone is great, except it kills apps from background too fast. That's a software issue thankfully and can be resolved with a software update.

I've been chatting with Sony support about this and providing whatever videos they ask for as evidence. Hopefully they address the problem since I've given them logcat dumps demonstrating the issue.
I just got info from Sony support today that one of the issues I've reported should be fixed in the Android 13 release due by the end of next week (Dec 23). I'm in the US with the 62 model.
I just flashed the 64.1.A.0.857 via newflasher ...
Downloaded the firmware via XperiFirm.
Device: XQ-CQ54
Merry Christmas everyone ...
I just dirty flashed 64.1.A.0.857 on a rooted XQ-CQ72. No issues so far

For that matter - since Sony openly lets us unlock the bootloader, OFW updates are a full-go for us and won't impede rooting ability, right?

1.- Only for international devices. Sony doesn't allow bootloader unlock for US devices.
2.- As far I know, modified devices (unlocked bootloader) lose OTA. I had to manually update using Xperiafirm and newflasher

By the way, I'm infinitely glad I picked one up in Japan over the US because this scrutiny is ridiculous! That said, I'm not rooted just yet and I'd have to prep a full file (mostly in-phone backup of pics) backup first, so I'm not rooted yet and seems like jumping to 13 first makes the most sense.
That said, I seriously gotta tip my hat to Sony for just allowing us to do entirely as we please with their phones while literally every other brand is cockblocking our freedom. Over the years, I missed having a task killer soooo much to save random background apps slowly tugging at the battery and then all the magisk plugins like ad blockers.
