Hi all
My S6 Edge (G925F) has to go in for a warranty repair tomorrow so, to be on the safe side, I used Odin to go back to Stock MM. The problem is, I completely forgot that I had changed the boot logo. Reverting to stock doesn't seem to set it back.
I have found a ton of TWRP flashable zips that will do it, but as I am now back on Stock recovery, I don't have that option. I did read somewhere to use ODIN and flash the param.bin file. Would anyone be able to explain how this is done? I have been searching around, but can't seem to find the info on how to do it. Or, if there is a way to convert from TWRP flashable to Stock recovery flashable (update.zip?)
Many thanks in advance
Dave

Im pretty sure you will need at least root to replace the boot animation with stock samsung ones.
I would root. Replace the .qmg for the boot animations then just flash back stock. Should only take a 20 minutes or so.
If you need the stock .qmg let me know
Thanks for the info - I was hoping to avoid that if possible. If it makes a difference, it's the boot logo (Black Splash Screen that says Android and S6 Edge), not the Samsung animations. I have seen people say to flash param.bin with Odin, but noone explains how unfortunately.

Im really not sure. Its just the .qmg that need replacing but you will need root to do it. Its the only way i can think of. Let me know if you need the files.

Right. It's in param.bin. It has to be in tar.md5 format so that it can be flashed with odin(linked to AP). Personally I never try with odin. Just with twrp.
Find an odin flashable param bin.tar.md5. Remove the param.bin from the .tar.md5. Insert new param.bin. Use 7zip to do remove and reinsert the bin file.
At you own risk. If you did something wrong, probably need to odin the whole stock firmware.

It was my knowledge that
bootsamsung.qmg is the galaxy s6 edge powered by android.
Bootsamsunglogo.qmg is the coloured samsung logo
Bootsamsungmini.qmg is the black and white samsung logo just before phone boots.

Right except the powered by android isn't in /media.
And only exynos phones can be changed. Snapdragon variants/phones the image is somewhere in bootloader. Nobody dares to mess up with booloader, hence SD ain't changeable.

You got lucky you didn't brick your device lol. Just go back to odin and flash the correct tar file for your player and you should be all good. I recommend flashing back to stock just in case something goes crazy.

Lol you flashed back to stock and still no boot process? That's really odd. However your galaxy player is suppose to be on 2.3.5. What GP do you have is it US, Euro, or International? You might have to repartition your device using a PIT file.
I have the us version and how do I repartition using a pit file. And know ever since that happened the backlight has been blinking very violently lately.
Goomanager app flashed a wrong recovery to the phone, now it won't boot but is stuck at the black "Samsung GALAXY Txt" Boot screen. does anybody know how to fix this? i wouldn't mind having to hard reset it. I tried flashing new recovery using adb/fastboot but adb doesn't "see" the device. thanks if you answer!:good:

Are you able to get into recovery mode still? For download mode make sure your holding down the correct key combination to get into download mode. You can also try using a USB Download jig which you can get from here, which when plugged into the phone will force the phone into download mode. As a fair warning the download jig's don't usually work with newer model phones but for a couple bucks it's worth a try. Let me know if you still have questions.
Motherboard dead?
Sorry to invade this post. I would just like to have confirmation on my device and it's pretty similar to what is found here. The only way I can access download mode is by pressing Q+Power and then adding the battery. Odin connects to everything, I can even flash the firmware from Bell for my Galaxy gt-i5510M and it PASS. But I can't still power it up, is the motherboard or something similar dead?
Thanks

If your device can still access download mode and Odin can successfully connect to your device an flash the firmware your device's motherboard is not dead. Try re-flashing the firmware to your device and checking auto-reboot option in Odin this way when the firmware finishes flashing the device will automatically reboot and hopefully power on then.
Thanks for the fast answer, you've been answering 3 people back on this thread, impressive.
Unfortunately I made sure of that, the auto reboot was checked but it doesn't reboot the device. I wanted to put a screenshot but I didn't realize you need around 10 posts to be able to post outside links. I've been looking through xda for a while but never posting.
I'm used to adb, so Odin is a bit new I have to admit. I've put the ops file, callisto in this case, in the appropriate ops , and then the One Package file I got from samfirmware "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC". Is there something else I could flash? It wouldn't be like some other phones where I could put down a Custom Recovery, go back to stock, etc. ?

To clarify did you put the firmware in the correct slot in Odin (PDA slot in this case) when flashing? Also double check your flashing the correct firmware for your device, as that could also be part of the problem.
Well you figured some things that were wrong. I was putting it in the one package slot. So I tried in the PDA slot, but it said "Invalid Image Type". From the sticker inside the battery compartment, it does say it's the GT-I5510M, so the 551 from Bell Canada it seems. But it's not easy to find a firmware for it, and the only one I found is at sammobile. There's plenty others under GT-I5510, but they're all European.
Any idea what I could use instead? The full name of the firmware I have is: "I5510UGKC5_BMCKC5_HOMEDOWNLOAD_TEST.tar" or "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC.zip" for the zip.
Thanks a lot for following this.

You can try ignoring the "Invalid Image Type" error and trying to flash anyway just don't unplug your phone from Odin until it fully completes the process.

sorry to interrupt you people.. but are you sure that it is a proper firmware file. because the pda file is .tar file. also, try entering the recovery mode and flashing a cwm recovery. then check if the system is mounted.
Sorry I've been away, meaning no phone and laptop with me. Thanks for the replies. I tried to flash again the firmware last week but nothing happened unfortunately.

I can't access recovery mode, only download mode by simultaneously putting the battery back in and pushing Q+Power. But I am wondering also if it could be a wrong firmware... Can I just flash a custom rom through Odin? Would that make up for it? Anything to having back in working order.

Please help! I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545) rooted on VRUAME7.
I did something really stupid and tried to flash the Google Wallet Mod and it ended up bricking my phone. It would show the Samsung and unlocked Custom logo and then the screen would go blank with the blue light on permanently. For some reason, I couldn't get into recovery mode (ClockWorkMod). Only Download mode worked.
So, I tried following the instructions here: http://droidviews.com/2013/how-to-unbrick-your-bricked-samsung-galaxy-s4-gt-i9500-gt-i9505/ to get my phone back.
I repartitioned with the pit file in those instructions and tried to flash a MDK build, which didn't do anything. Then I wised up and tried the ME7 build. It also didn't work. The phone would still only show the screen with the unlocked Custom logo and then it would turn off. I could still only get into Download mode.
I also tried the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259, which got me a little further at one point, where I could hear the boot up sound and it would get stuck on the white screen with the Verizon logo. After doing that once and rebooting it is back to just showing the unlocked Custom logo and turning off again.
Is there anything else I can try? I've searched and searched the forums and I'm coming up empty now.

Soft brick can ALWAYS be fixed by reflashing stock ROM. Find the stock ROM and put it on ur device (in CW recovery is mount USB-OGT while plugged into ur computer). Flash it after you WIPE the device. Then reboot. Thumbs up if this helped!
Also a tip is DONT FUDGE AROUND WITH THE DEVICE. If its bricked, the device can be recovered. But if you do random attempts it will cause other problems. That's from experience. Hard bricked my friends Galaxy S cause I kept on flashing **** on it. Root on!

Hi,
My S2 was working perfectly and I put it on charge. About 15mins later I walked past and noticed it was displaying just the very first screen ie the one you see as soon as it starts and says Galaxy S2. Tried all the usual things like removing battery etc. I thought I might have a corrupted ROM so I have re-flashed it with Odin and whilst that was successful it is still at the same screen. I flashed it with the Australian XSA ROM. I can get it into flash mode but nothing else.
Anyone have any further thoughts?

OK thanks for the quick reply. Tried to get there but what happens is the android appears with his whirling blue bit....then it goes to black and the samsung galaxy s 2 screen again appears and thats where it stays. The only mode it will go into is the flash rom mode. In other words vol up plus power and home buttons does the above whereas vol down plus home and power gets me successfully to the rom flash screen.

The only other thing I can think of is to flash a .tar recovery from download mode(vol down+home+power).
Try the modified kernel from philz HERE You will need to match the kernel to the rom version, read carefully particularly the 2nd and 3rd posts
Just untick reboot on finish in odin and once you succesfully flash the kernel try to enter recovery from power off. Good luck
Another question

Yes, thats the kernel you need. Just get the .tar version of the kernel and flash in download mode(vol down, home, power). I'm hoping you can get a working recovery to give you a few more options. It may not work, as I suspect you have filesystem corruptions or something, but try that anyway
OK ...will try that in a few days ...again, thanks for the help

Ok just got replacement S6 edge had D0l1 firmware on it out the box...flashed unikernel in ODIN on it for root....booted just fine and had root...then flashed latest TWRP through ODIN tried to reboot into recovery Now phone won't boot. if I force a restart it does Sammy logo then a white flash real quick to black screen followed by a vibrate then just stays black. Only thing I can do is get it in DL mode.
Now I have tried to DL the D0l1 Firmware from 2 different sources on here at XDA so I can ODIN back to stock but can't get Odin to recongize the zip.....so I extracted the files but says something is corrupt?. I am not a noobie when it comes to rooting and flashing and this is the deepest of trouble I have ever been in as far as Bricking a device. I have no clue what to do now???? Any help please!
Honestly, all I need is the D0l1 firmware which I cannot somehow get without it being a corrupt file
I just don't get it.....Odin will not recongize the D0l1 firmware for me to flash? I just Odin'd back my other S6 edge with broken screen to send back for insurance claim no problem with c09 firmware or the # before this D0l1. 3 different download sources same thing Odin will not see the zip file after clicking on AP.
I can' boot into recovery..does anybody have the stock recovery for tmobile that I can flash in ODIN??

Ok I tried to DL the D0l1 firmware from couple other places on here and when I unzipp it Winrar is popping up message saying the the file is corrupt but it unzips anyway then when I flash in ODIn it says Fail....not sure if that's because of the file or this new bootloader from Sammy is ****ing things up for people like us? I'm staring to get nervous....this DL from Sammy is gonna be a long time.
Also, I just noticed they have ODIN 3.10.7 out.....gonna DL that also as I have 3.10.6 still. see if that helps at all.
Yes...the dl will take a minute. If possible just leave your pc alone while it downloads.
If Winrar says its corrupted then it is. No sense in trying to flash it

How can the file be corrupted straight from Sammy???

Bro....I think I might be ****ed honestly, I hope not but it seems like if you get stuck in a BL with this new loader....it will not let you flash a stock image. My phone says in red at top when I force a restart (Recovery is not seadroid) I tried extracting just the recovery out of the D0l1 firmware and packed it up as a TAR and flashed but it just hangs and never completes the process. I have searched google to the end of the earth about trying to recover after this new firmware update but can't anything or anybody successful....just people stuck like me. Wish I would have just let it go and rolled stock cause I was gonna jump to the nexus probley.....but you and some others showed you were rooted and good....it all went downhill after odin'd TWRP
Your fine....my upload will take awhile. Its the tar file. So all you will have to do is flash in Odin
Your stuck because you didn't unlock the bootloader. If you get into download mode then your going to be ok. So just kick back for a few hours until my upload us done
