I've unlocked my bootloader, rooted and installed CWM custom recovery. Not surprisingly the Sense 6 update will download but it won't install. I tried to flash it manually with CWM but that won't work either. Again, no surprise.
Is there a workaround that I can use to install the Sense 6 update?

Yes, you need the stock recovery not custom recovery to install the ota plus stock rom installed.

Ok, I flashed stock recovery and the update looked like it was going to install but it failed about a third of the way through and gave me a red triangle. I rebooted and fortunately the phone is still working. I tried installing the update a second time with the same result. Any ideas?

You have to have a pure stock rom. You may have to nandroid a stock or RUU but you have to decide that, but it have to be stock not root or any system file edits. Sorry, missed the bootloader need to be locked.

My rom is stock (Telstra Australia) but I've installed a few Xposed mods. If I do a factory reset I'm assuming that will take the rom back to stock. If I then remove root and relock the bootloader will I then be ok to flash the Sense 6 update?
Mate, I'm having same issue, Telstra Australia.
Check out his thread. I think you need to save three files that get wiped when you unlock bootloader. The update looks for them. I'm still trying to get it to work.

Thanks. I tried the 3 files thing and it didn't work for me probably because the bootloader was still unlocked. I got sick of dicking around with it and decided to try to get S-off which I'd been having trouble achieving with Hboot 2.49. Finally got S-off and then flashed this.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53890999
Cheers.

Nothing was working for me and I'd almost given up but I was pointed to this.... http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
I was already rooted but for some reason the first method wouldn't work for me. ADB is very new to me so I may have done something wrong even though I tried it a couple of times. I used the second method but didn't use temproot cause I figured as I was already rooted I didn't need it. When I used the commands in the second method S-off was achieved.
The rom I mentioned above looks really good btw.

Not sure what you are referring to there. I didn't see anything overly large. Was that on the stock launcher? I'm using Apex.
When the OTA update fails and you get the red triangle, have you tried holding the vol up button then pushing the power button?
This should take you to stock recovery and you can see why the update failed...
Might give you a point to work from.

No I didn't do that. I'm on a custom recovery and custom rom now though.
I'm all back to stock with the three files saved. Just waiting for the OTA update to download now.
I'll let you know if it works.
So what's the sense 6 camera app like? I have never really been happy with the camera on the max.

I haven't had a really good look at it but I don't like the fact that you have to tap a button before you choose video. On the old app both camera and video were one tap away. Now if you aren't in video already it's 2 taps.

I ended up getting this to work....
When you save the three files that are missing with a root file manager, you have to save them to \data\preload NOT system\data\preload
Worked a treat after I did this:good:
How did you get firewater to work?
I keep getting a kernel error. It says that my kernel has a anti firewater patch. Very frustrating i just want to be able to lock my bootloader so my finger print scanner works properly again.

That's interesting what you say about the 3 files. Now I know why it wouldn't work for me. Regarding Firewater I just followed the instructions in the link I posted earlier.
I've actually reverted to a Nandroid of my stock Sense 5.5 rom. I like it better than Sense 6.
So I saw this lollipop rom(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716306) and I was waiting for the official one from htc but this had what I wanted. It said I need to have the 4.4.4 firmware but I didnt know how to get it because I couldnt get the ota update on stock for a certain reason and so it flashed the 4.4.4 gpe rom then after that I flashed the 5.0 rom but now I have no wifi and when I reboot its in the bootloop and I dont know what to do now. I would appreciate it if anyone could try and help me. Thank you.
If you just flash a GPe rom it dosent mean you flashed the firmware. I was actually having this same problem so I just flashed the US Dev Sense 4.4.4 firmware and the Lollipop rom worked fine.

Scroll all the way down and look for the 3.28.1540.5 firmware and flash that.

Used the one click script last night on stock 12b. worked great!
question. Now that I am rooted, I've been looking at threads about installing a custom recovery. Some info is old some new and I cant tell what's best so I figure I'll just ask. Sorry if the answer was staring me in the face in one of the threads. Can i install clockwork or twrp so i can backup my device and possibly start trying custom roms? I read stuff about Bump... and pre bumped roms but im unsure... any insight/explanation of whats going on would help. I'm coming from an older phone which, once rooted, was easy to load and switch between custom roms in clockwork.

One more thing... I noticed on the TWRP site that when i go to my device... vs985, it says that i must be rooted (OK) and vulnerable to "Bump"
If I just rooted my stock device with the above script and nothing else... am I 'vulnerable to Bump" ...just want to make sure I meet all the requirements before i try to install the recovery.

Just to confirm...So is it now unnecessary to manually Bump! our phones since, from what I gather in your posts, using TWRP Manager or Flashify to flash the Bump'd TWRP performs the steps outlined in the Bump! guide?
Edit: Just read in another thread that the 12b update disables the ability to set our phones to Ethernet mode which the Bump! guide requires. Am I right in stating that, in order to get TWRP flashed, we have to either downgrade to 10b or use TWRP Manager/Flashify?
Wish I didn't have to learn a new process each time I switch devices unless, of course, it's a Nexus. Just made the jump from the 1st gen Moto X to the G3 so I'm making sure I know and understand what's necessary, what works, what doesn't, and what's possible.

Understood. Totally worth it, though. This is an awesome phone.
At least you're not asking about TWRP on the LG Pad 8.3 tablet. We have to downgrade the bootloader before using adb to write TWRP to the recovery partition.

So my watch recently downloaded the latest 6.0.1 update.zip and I'm more than happy to report: WE CAN FLASH IT VIA TWRP!
This update.zip was grabbed from /cache, however seems to be completely identical with the one you can download from here: https://android.googleapis.com/pack...3ec3e78cb2a7d3.signed-platina-ota-2576000.zip
Exciting news, means we don't have to reset our watch back to stock for it to flash

That indeed Once the watch was updated it lagged for about 10 minutes still, probably due to it doing stuff in the background after the upgrade. But once that was done it's now working great, smooth and awesomely well!
thanks.
i still wiped out everything to have a more clean experience. and faster.
Yeah I would say the only reason we don't have to go back to stock is that the ota contains completely brand new system image and boot and recovery of course so it thosen't even verify system files as they all get replaced anyway
Can we flash this new stock and then flash a custom kernel? Idk anything sorry, this will be my one annoying question for the day
For 6.0.1 there is no kernel at the moment.

You can get the original stock recovery from here, then fastboot flash it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63604156&postcount=1.
Or just flash the stock MM KDZ in LG Up. KDZ is linked in this thread, which also tells you how to root MM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/root-android-6-0-h901-t3382819
