s5 SM-G900F rooting need help! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i attempted to try and root my phone so i went through the steps of downloading the CF auto root and using Odin with it. i loaded odin and added the .tar file to odin. booted my phone into download mode. what i found strange is the agreement screen is all is by the looks of it Chinese, i looked at it funny and carried on. i clicked start on odin and it went through the downloading. but when it got to rebooting i got stuck in the boot up screen with the text
RECOVERY BOOTING.....
RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set warranty Bit: Recovery
and it just stays in this screen
from here on i am clueless of what to do

Sounds like you might have used the wrong version of CF Auto Root. You'll need to restore your device with the original firmware. If you are not sure what this is, you should be able to pull the battery then boot directly into recovery by powering on with Vol Up + Home + Power. The build should be labeled there. Then you should be able to find that here on XDA in the forum for your phone (check in General and in Development forums). If not there, then most likely sammobile.com will have it, but be warned, the downloads there are pretty slow. Once you grab the firmware, you might need to unzip it till you have the .tar or .tar.md5 file and put that into Odin in the AP slot and while your phone is plugged in in Download Mode, hit Start and it will restore your phone.

[Q] Completely dead phone! please help me!!!

Hey guys!
I'm new to Android and how it all works.
here I have a Galaxy S I9000 on T-Mobile with 2.1
I wanted to upgrade to 2.2 and from what I've read on the forums I did the following:
downloaded Odin and .pit files (used odin 1.7, and pit file ending in 512)
then used for PDA file I9000UGJL2_homebinary_add_param.tar
plugged my phone in, went into download mode and started installing the 2.2 I guess.. and now is COMPLETELY DEAD!! won't turn on at all and I'm really frustrated. I removed the battery and the sd card and tried to boot it up few times ... but NOTHING!!!
please help!!!

Well I can tell you you should only ODIN when something messes up, and you're in the completely wrong thread. Us Galaxy S Vibrant owner usually don't know too much of GT I9000 phones But go back to the thread where you got the odin files and post there, or at least post in your phone's correct section.
But anyways, can you still get into download mode?
this is where I was told to come actually. I have a Galaxy S (Vibrant) on T-Mobile, I alerady posted on the I9000 thread but not answer at all.
I can't get to the download mode at all, my phone has a hardware lock on the recovery menu...so I'm stuck

I think bobbb thought you have an international galaxy s, because you said you have an i9000.
So you have a Vibrant Correct?
It appears you used the wrong tar file. You used the one meant for the international galaxy s, not the one meant for vibrant.
You said you can't get into download mode at all because your phone is hardware locked. Then how did you get into download mode in the first place to use odin the first time you messed up?
Try the following. Download the correct 512 pit, and the correct JFD tar for your Vibrant.
1) open odin
2) place pit in pit
3) place tar in pda
4) take battery, sim and sd card out from phone
5) put battery back in, leave the rest out
6) hold down volume down/up (don't touch power)
7) while holding down both volume buttons, plug in the USB cord, with the other end connected to your computer
If that didn't work, try the following, which has worked for me.
1) open odin
2)place pit in pit
3) tar in pda
4) take battery, sim and sd out.
5) HOLD DOWN VOLUME UP/DOWN AND NEVER LET GO (DON'T TOUCH POWER)
6) WHILE STILL HOLDING THAT DOWN, PUT ONLY THE BATTERY BACK IN
7) WHILE STILL HOLDING DOWN VOLUME UP/DOWN, NOW PLUG IN THE USB CABLE INTO YOUR PHONE
Once in download mode, you can let go of the volume keys.
Hopefully that gets you back into download mode and you can just flash back to stock JFD.
If you still can't get into download mode, you might want to see if a USB JIG will work.
I'm just confused how you got into download mode the first time if your phone is hardware locked, did you use ADB?
Anyway, try the method above, hopefully that gets you back into download.
-Ps... you want to be in download mode, not recovery.
Do what Samsung said but if I'm correct in what you said? you are using Odin 1.7? get the newest version which is v3 i believe... could have been a problem with that version.. correct me if I'm wrong Samsung... but always screwed up my phone with the older version....
Merry Christmas everyone!
anyways...none of the methods ever worked.
The believe that the download mode worked before I screwed up the bootloader.
I read somewhere that on the T-Mobile Vibrant if you go into download mode for first time and your update fails, you can't do anything
I guess I will be without a phone for X-Mas and the next day, because I work

Ya if you messed up your bootloader you might be out of luck, but honestly I'm not an expert, so I'm not sure if you did or did not mess up your bootloader by trying to install the wrong tar file.
Odin has given me a fail before, and I got the phone to computer icon and I was able to get into download mode, I guess my bootloader was still fine.
I have a feeling you can still save your phone, keep asking, don't give up.
the latest odin is odin3 v1.70. I think.

Issue after trying to root

Not sure if this is the right place for this question.
I attempted to root my Galaxy S2. I downloaded Odin, a zimage file, superoneclick.
I ran Odin, flashed the zimage file. But then superoneclick refused to work so decided to not continue with the root.
However the phone has all sorts of issues. One being Kies refuses to work now
Whenever I plug in a USB cable and try and run Kies it says its not supported connection type.(i noticed since i tried to root, the phone doesn't go into Kies mode when on the home screen)
I've done a factory restore on the phone by pressing volume up, home and power and restored it all. But the problem still occurs.
I've tried to update the firmware but I cannot find it anywhere.
I'm on Virgin UK and there isn't anywhere a stock file.
Edit:
Whenever the phone switches on theres an exclamation mark warning sign on the bootlogo
Can I please have some help undoing what i've done? I just want the phone back to how it was
What zimage file? You're supposed to flash the cf-root kernel, and that's it.
RESOLVED.
I ensured Kies wasn't running. Then opened ODIN and used an Original PDA file(in my case XWKF3, can be found by dialling *#1234# on the phone), then restarting the phone in download mode, volume down + home + power. Flashed the new zImage for the original file. Everything now works perfectly!

any instructions on usiing all the files in the zip file might help too !!!!
Not hard to search (for instructions or the file).
Download it.
Open ODIN
load the recovery (PDA from memory)
put tab in download mode
connect to pc
click start on odin.
30 seconds later your phone reboots with the stock recovery
I have tried this and still stuck on 'samsung galaxy tab' screen.
all i need to do is wipe the GT, and install stock 3.1 rom on it and start again but cant find a instruction that will tell me ??
paul
^ please explain in detail what you have done... the files used and the steps taken.
Did you verify the md5 of the file you flashed in ODIN (if the md5 was known)?
All i have is the filesfordummies.zip file unzipped.
i need guidance from there on.
Cheers
^ are you using the stockretail tar file from that and odin? When you load the recovery, put the tab in download, connect to pc..... does odin have a yellow com# shown, if not, wait a bit... could be installing the drivers.... if it is showing and you have the stock recovery loaded.... press start, wait maybe 30 seconds and your tab should be rebooting.
what is not happening for you in that sequence?
After that my tab is stuck on 'samsung galaxy tab' loading screen and has been for around 2 hours.
paul
Hold down volume and power... release power when the tab splash screen comes up (still hold volume down).
what recovery shows up? I assume you had CWR before.... is it that, or stock?
what tab model do you have

Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 - Stuck on boot logo

Hello, recently my Samsung s3 just shut off instantly and when I tried turning it back on it just remained stuck on the boot screen. It only shows "Samsung galaxy s III GT-I9300" there's no animations or noises after that or before it when you try to boot it up. Then I tried entering recovery mode but that failed, the only thing it can enter is download mode. So i tried to flash a stock ROM via Odin, however this failed. I'm not sure why since im not too familiar with flashing roms, I may have used the wrong stock rom for my phone. I bought this from T-mobile and had it unlocked to all networks, I did root this phone about two years ago, so it has a custom ROM flashed on it previously. If someone can take me through the steps to flash with the correct ROM it would be greatly appreciated. thanks
You don't flash ROM's via Odin in the same way as you do via your phone (CWM, Philz etc).
As I've just experienced the same problem try this.
Get Odin (3.0.4 upwards)
Make sure you have Samsung drivers installed on your PC (can be found by searching this forum)
Put phone in download mode
Start Odin
Goto androidfirmwares.net and download an i9300 ROM (must be a ROM file!!)
Unzip it (7zip, Winzip etc)
press PDA button in Odin. Select the file you just just unzipped (which should end .tar.md5)
Wait for it to check MD5
Click Start
You should then, fingers crossed, have a bootable S3.
From their you can install whatever you please once you have installed CWM or some other recovery.

help - SM-t585 does not boot after odin and twrp install

Hello guys,
if someone can help me with this:
- I got a brand new galaxy tab A6 2016 Lte sm-t585.
- The combination Power Vol Up Home never brought me anywhere.
- I managed to get once into what I think is the bootloader mode
(text list of options that loads after you see the image of the droid open being operated)
when I was trying to get into Odin download mode for the first time.
Now I do not know if and how that mode is accessible (I never managed again to get into it).
- I wanted to install xda ULTRALEAN rom. To do this I first looked the tutorial on how to
install TWRP and root the device on xda.
- I installed odin 3.12.3 and samsung usb drivers, downloaded supersu and the verity file
for later,
- I picked the twrp-3.0.2-0-gtanotexllte.img.tar file from the relative
xda thread and followed the instruction exactly (The only difference is I could not load
the .md5 file since odin would hang, I read many people had this problem. I did it with the
.tar file directly and everything went like described in the gui). Until "PASS!"
- Now the bad surprise: after Power Vol Down Home in Download mode (I tried with both USB
cable attached and not) Power Vol Up Home doesn' t work. The system would eventually boot
the stock Rom.
- I repeated all these steps many a time, with no success.
- Then I made what I thought is the big mistake: I ticked Odin Phone bootloader update
button and repeated the procedure.
- Now the phone is stuck on the galaxy samsung a6 splash
screen. The only thing I can do is to go to Download mode.
Ok, don't panic, all is not lost. But first let me tell you that you are not in the correct forum. This one is for the old P7500/7510. You know, first generation.
Anyways, since you can put it in download mode and you have Odin installed, you only have to hunt for your stock firmware (sammobile is a good place to start} and flash that with Odin. Your tab should be as good as new.
