Hey There,
yesterday I unlocked my Redmi Note 3 (32GB Special Edition) with the help of this excellent guide:
h**p://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2566258#r51587231
I used the unofficial way to unlock because the official one didn't work for me.
Now TWRP and Cyanogenmod are working perfectly and I love my new phone!
There is only one issue, after installing Cyanogenmod, i got less 8 GB of storage. available.
I suppose it has something to to with the partitioning of the internal SD, could that be? How can I expand the mounted volume to access the whole internal memory?

After you did the unofficial unlock did you boot into miui or flashed right the costum rom ?
I had this problem also on my kate device , the problem happens when you not boot into miui first.
You need to boot after unlock first into miui and setup look the storage is ok , after flash a costum rom and it will be fine
You're right, after unlocking I directly flashed TWRP via fastboot then booted into recovery and installed my rom.
Damn, I should have known that... Is there a way to change that now, without doing it all over again?
reboot to recovery, format data from wipe menu.
NOTE:INTERNAL SD CARD AND ALL INSTALLED APPS WITH DATA WILL BE WIPED.
I got 25GB is this normal?
Got the 32GB version

I have the 32GB version as well. I ran into the same problem and formatted Data like the poster recommended above and mine says 23.99GB.
Same here. I had 24gb and after erasing and flashing MIUi developer rom I now have 24Gb in CM13.
Gesendet von meinem Redmi Note 3 mit Tapatalk
So its normal to have 24GB with CM13 instead of 32GB?
Could anyone confirm?
I used to have the same problem before.
Solution :after unlocking the bootloader open twrp and boot to system. After the successful boot reboot to twrp, then wipe data only. Then reboot again to twrp
Now wipe every partition of your device (even internal storage)
That's it.
Done..
Remember I've used a memory card to store Rom files,
You can also place them on your mobile after wiping internal storage using a pc
Here is the breakdown of storage on my 16 gb internal storage. Using latest Nitrogen oreo 8.1
If u know, the dalvik cache is stored in data so that system space is freed.
And i have no apps installd internal storage because i have setup memory card as adoptable storage.
U might consider a FORMAT DATA in twrp before flashing a new rom.
Flash a miui rom> unlock officially > flash twrp > format data, wipe system and everything > flash rom and gapps.

I have a Sandisk mini SD card which is 8GB (7.78 ).
When Installed Custom Rom . I tried something with CMW and formatted and partitioned it. It showing now is 6.4Gb space and 1.38GB space is missing.
I checked with DiskManagement. it showed the rest 1.38 GB space. I tried to Unmount that and now its showing 2 drive in 1 SD card.
There is no option to change that to 1 ( 8GB ) Drive.
Need Help.
Thank you,
Ravi Nazre
Edit:
Now it does not show the unmounted Space in the Diskmanagement. I am Amazed! but most important here is how to get it back to normal.

Hi beston94,
Thanks for your Help.
I tried the Panasonic SD formater. That shows 6.41 GB. I tried FULL WRITE Erase. Still the same. Now it does not show in Disk Management that there is an unallocated space. I have attached the screenshot.

I have done that. still no go.
I am using Foxhound rom Otacon V1

You obviously re-partitioned the SD card to have 6.4 gb and 1.38 gb partitions. You will have to re-partition the SD card again. Formatting alone won't re-partition the card. It will just wipe what is on the main partition, which looks like the 6.4 portion.
Yeah!
So How do i re-partition the SD card again ?
What are the steps involved without using a 3rd party software ? ( If there is.. )
or Please let me know the name of the software which does that.

You can't do it the same way you did the first time?
Going to sell my DNA but I want to wipe it. I am first going to do the traditional wipe and re-install the ROM. Then I want to clean off the SD card. I have TWRP. If I do a wipe of just the internal sd card will it keep my system untouched so I can boot into the ROM?
Connect the phone to PC, delete all files on the phone, place stock ROM onto the phone, boot to recovery do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik) The ROM should still be in data/media. Flash it, reboot, connect to PC, delete ROM file and don't run setup.
There may be a better way but as far as I know the internal card contents won't wipe unless you explicitly choose it. If you can do that from recovery then that will work.
Wipe as normal, flash ROM, then in advanced wipe choose internal storage, swipe to wipe, done. Fresh ROM and no SD card contents.

I have'nt sold a phone in awhile but if there's any photos you don't wnat out I'd look into a way to overwrite the contents of the internal storage as well.

I have a script for that, it uses dd and writes over the entire data partition with zeroes. Takes forever, but literally zeroes out the SD card and the rest of data, so even apps or app data are gone.

I wouldn't mind using your script.
Hi i've been using a rooted Galaxy S II for a while now, I had the old jellybean 'Ressurection Remix' rom.
Once I did full-wipe on CWM and installed the new 4.4.2 RR rom, my internal storage dropped from 16GB to 2GB...
I've tried multiple things like wiping dalvik cache to solve this problem but I couldn't come up with a proper conclusion.
I think it's partition related problem, but I'm not entirely sure how to solve this problem.
I have a 16 GB internal storage and a 16 GB external SD-Card
*edit: I also have deleted everything unnecessary on the internal storage, there are no junk apps/files.

Your internal storage probably didn't drop. 1 internal storage is 2GB and if you scroll down there is another internal storage (11,5GB)
First take a look in /data/logs, delete the logs (they can take up a lot of space)
That is your phone internal storage for apps.
There is USB-storage (internal storagle like sd) and SD-storage.
it is stated that S2 have 16GB but in reality, its just 11-13GB as the rest space for system file (duh, similar to pc or thumb drive; 4GB on package, available only 3.8GB something for its system file)
for the internal storage to drop 16GB to 2GB, its not...the 2GB space is specifically for your apps, and judging from your image, you have too many apps/apps with big size...

Check if you have any big backup files on your sd card. I once lost lots of sd mem after romnuke, turned out to be some backup files from the wipe. It was lost dir or maybe mybackups. Check if you have any oversized folders on your internal.

Alright, well it all started with my SD card. I thought I'd fix it by putting a rom on my internal SD and flash it.
But without even thinking it was on my internal SD I used the Mega wipe script... Now my phone is empty and Odin won't flash stock rom.

I presume you have a custom recovery installed seeing has you where originally going to flash from internal memory? If you can still boot into recovery have you tried to place a rom on eternal sd card and flash from there..Is there a problem with sd card if so what?
I can think of 3 options:
1) Try to flash again using Odin 3.09- you're using a very old version...
2) If you don't have access to recovery- try to flash Philz with odin
3) Try to find 4-parts rom installation (seperated PDA,Modem,CSC,PIT)- i've never checked, so continue with caution.
Perhaps this might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187081

Can't you put file on SD card after removing it and then put the ROM file on SD card by SD card reader and then flag through extsdcard..if not then check if proper drivers are installed.. And also try to change USB cable if that works

I was told that using older versions of Odin sometimes work better then the latest versions. Anyway I'd like to thank you all for the informative replies. I managed to fix it by going into CWM recovery and choose "reboot to bootloader" from the advanced menu.
It seemed to have triggered a download mode which allowed me to flash.
And no, my SD wasn't recognized by anything. Not on PC nor recovery.
I was getting the same error using the USB ports on the side of my PC. Make sure your using ports on the motherboard itself.
This is the way I did it and it works fine,so I should work for you too..
1. First of all you need to go to the Play Store and download the app called Root Essentials, once you have installed it,we can go to the next step..
2. Open Root Essentials and press on Storage tab and then on Adoptable Storage. press Adopt when you are ready to format your card, but it will ask you to download a zip file you have to flash on your phone so you can adopt your sd card, press on the link to there webpage, they will ask you to download and flash a file call ASPlugin.zip.
3. Once downloaded restart your phone in TWRP Recovery and flash the file you just download, wait until it's done and restart your phone and go back to Root Essentials and do what you did in step 2 and press Adopt button wait for it to format the SD card and then you can migrate your data by pressing on the Migrate Data button and wait for to to move your files to your sd card and its done. Now goto Settings>Device Maintenance>Storage and press the 3 dots on the top right and press Storage Settings and you should see it added the sd cards to the total GBs of storage you have on the phone and it's done.
If you see you are running out of space at all just migrate your data again to free up space on Device Memory.
I have now 18.5GB Used out of 30.4 GB total space. Device Memory 10.4 GB used of 16 GB and SD Card 8.1 GB used of 14.4 GB.
See picture..

It worked, Just made an account to thank you
Android 7.1.1 (SpaceOS) without AS, installed Root Essentials, but apps never format SD and can't even download ASPlugin.zip.
Can you install your apps directly to sd card now, and what about whatsapp folder, is it placed in internal memory or sd card
And if placed in sd card is the whatsapp running without any problem and not creating folders on internal memory
Update - It worked, done all steps now only internal memory is showing, I tried taken 3gb files from shareit, they are received without any problems
My device was of 8gb storage but bcoz of this I have total 32gb of internal storage
Lets hope I do not encounter any problems in future
Using J5 2015 8gb. Done all the steps but there is a problem coming

Well maybe you should have used the adoptable storage enabler zip for the j5 2015 instead of one not for our device. This thread is not for ours, its for a different j5.
