The weird thing is the supplied data/charging cable in the box......saw some reviews where the cable was male type c to male type c(the quick charger had a type c port!!) .....while in most reviews the cable is male usb to male type c (which makes sense in using it for pc connection)!
Am really confused coz it seems there are two variants!!
have a look at 4:05 mark in this unboxing!:

mine came with normal usb type end, i guess reviewer stating c to c made a typing mistake
edit my bad.. that's weird, the video shows a c to c cable, i guess they realised that was a bad idea and changed it in later revisions

This also means that they had to change the quick charger as well to a normal variant with a female usb port!
By the way,can you share your screen on time (sot) with hspa or wifi on ? and how is the fingerprint scanner doing/which rom are you on??
Thanks.

well it's my son's phone, but i have a good play with it
sot on wi-fi and lowish brighness is @6 hours+ from what I've noticed, that's just browsing and messing with settings and @hour or more of youtube videos
the fingerprint scanner is really hit and miss for me, especially if the screen has been off for while, it's next to impossible to get fp scanner working to wake the phone. Oddly sometimes it works perfectly. It has CM13 on it atm, but the fp sensor was much the same on official rom too.

Hi all,
I'm not sure how many of you came from using a HTC Kaiser/TYTN II, but that phone wouldn't charge with many car chargers, since it expects that pin 4 of the USB cable should be grounded (with pin5). The charger that comes with it has a grounded pin 4, but many in-car USB chargers don't.
My question is: Will the blackstone charge off a car charger that does NOT have the pin 4 grounded?
Thanks!
I've been using an ordinary USB cable charger at work (I keep the original charger at home) and it seems to work fine. I mean, it didn't catch fire and all.
no it doesnt have the same problem as the Tytn's.
"it didn't catch fire and all" wtf?
Thankyou for the update. I was planning to manually modify my cables. Glad to not have to now.
I bought what must have been the lowest cost charger on the high street - £6 from Halfords, it comes with attachments for pretty much every phone and I can use it on both my TYTN II and My Touch HD with out any mods.
Its not the prettiest as the extension for multi connections is a little long and does not bend or twist, but it works.

Oh you know, with all the fuss about batteries catching fires these days, I was half-expecting it to burn up.

The charging electronic is inside the phone, no smart charger is needed for the phones.
The only issue with those pin short were, that the phone detects if it is charged from a charger or hookup to a pc (500mA) max.
I just bought a monitor with MHL. This came with an MHL lead Micro usb > HDMI plug so eager to try it I got nothing on the Note 3.
Testing this with my HTC Sensation the lead alone worked perfectly so I did a bit of research and figured that all I should need is a pin converter 5 - 11 pin and I should be fine.
I This
When that duly arrived, it still didn't work. What I noticed when using this though was :
1) The Samsung pops up a message "HDMI connected" when the monitor is on.
2) The monitor scans and doesn't tell me there is no signal - It sits there with a black screen when the note 3 is connected.
3) The Samsung loses it's sound (on the device) but nothing comes through on the monitor (not used the monitor speakers yet so I might no have this set up)
4) The Samsung shows that it is being charged.
Further research seems to come up with conflicting results. Some people say you MUST have one of those adaptors with external power, but others swear their adaptors work fine without it because the Note 3 is MHL 2.0 and only needs it for battery charging.
So I am a bit confused and hope some folks here can shed some light on this matter. My HTC sensation works perfectly with just the lead, I find it hard to believe the |Note 3 won't even when the pin outs are correct and the monitor is clearly supplying power to the device.
Any help appreciated, I don't want to buy an older mhl 1.0 adaptor with power or an expensive 2.0 adaptor if it's not necessary and I do want to hear from anyone that has an adaptor that doesn't require power.
I've never owned one Samsung phone, even when using an official (powered) MHL adapter, that worked well enough to even be worth having the adapter.
I don't know if the Note 3 requires it or not, but I wouldn't even bother with it tbh.
My Samsung MHL 2.0 cable does NOT require a power input with the Note 3 (I still use one anyway). AFAIK you still need a charging input if the cable is MHL 1.0, regardless of what spec the phone has.

Thanks, it's curious then why my mhl lead with 5 - 11pin adaptor doesn't work directly unless there's some magic in the Samsung unit.
I seem to be clearing the fog on this issue a little but I'm still confused.
It appears that what Samsung provide is and MHL > HDMI adaptor. HDMI and MHL are different ... in some way.
However, when a monitor supports HML directly this shouldn't be necessary at all. As my monitor came with this feature and supplied an MHL cable albeit the 5 pin my take on this is that fitting a 5 > 11 pin converter should be all that I need. Some appear to have used passive MHL cables with success :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483054&page=3
But I'd still like any more expert opinions on whether I'm on the right track or not. If I am then I might assume the chinese adaptor I bought is defective in some way.
I don't know what happened but I bought this one and I am surprised! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-O...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item486423fdfe This was suggested in another thread from many users however it was noted that it requires power A/C to work! To my big surprise, the one that I got it works without plugging any power source and not only that but it managed to load my external usb other than hdmi
Those are my first results after 10 minutes of testing it! Didn't have any long term session with it in order to check if it is stable or errorfree!
Because I know some users may doubt it, here is a picture showing what I said !https://db.tt/Gsum0lyU

Thanks for the heads up. Can you tell me if you were plugging this into an MHL compliant monitor or was it just one that had HDMI?

I think No as the TV is quite old and from my usage I didn't see any signs of MHL. But I will test it again in my other TV which is much newer to see if it still works without external power! I Will post my findings on this thread in the near future
It seems that it works pretty fine also in my other (newer) TV without any power source!
Edit: flip the picture as it is wrongly displayed.

Its cool. I'm testing same setup have u had any problems with auto connect bluetooth?
Not problem. . But I need push a sony radio for connection bluetooth App remote. .
I have call a Sony for this .. but need manual input..
Any one interested in this check out proclips (Google them). A non invasive easy way to install a tablet in the car. Works great with the Ford Sync system but anything with Bluetooth would be good. I've had iPad's, Note tabs, and now the 8.4 in my Fusion.
8.4 in my Jeep
Here's my setup in my Jeep. I got a custom mount that sits over the stock stereo. It slides in an out and locks. When I want it more secure, I slide it out and I have a lock box below my seat.
I ordered a ground loop adaptor to fix the hum when it's being charged and plugged into AUX. I'm currently shopping for a DAC that I can connect to a charge enabled OTG cable. The best I've seen is LAVA SimulCharge USB 1 but I wish it had more ports. Anyone find anything better?

I have the lava adapter works pretty good. U can buy a 1 male to 3 female USB adapter for more ports. Make sure u have a good 2.1 amp charger and cable for the lava or it won't charge to good. I use a official Samsung car charger and the USB cable that came with the tab pro gets about 1000ma with my DAC hooked up. I use the Behringer uac 202 USB dac best for the money. Has optical also.. No ground loops or noise with optical.

Thanks. I was hoping I could get a 1/3 USB adaptor for more ports, but I didnt know if it would work. I have a two different 2.1 amp chargers now, and it barely gives any juice to it. It says max 1200 or so but it bare;y gets 3-400. It keeps the screen on and it drops a % every 5-10 min. I looked at the Behringer uac 202 but I'm connecting to a stock deck that goes have RGA inputs so I'm going in through an AUX jack. I could try an optical to headphone cable I suppose.
The ground loop cable I got killed the hissing noise. Is the UAC 202 a noticeable difference worth the extra cost and time setting it up? I'm concerned it will slow down charging even more. Does it suck up a lot of juice?
The sound difference is huge with the 202 dac even if u use the headphone out jack. Alot more clarity and output. doesn't suck much juice at all. U should invest in a Samsung Branded car charger most chargers say 2.1 amps but put out half.
Thanks, I just purchased the 202 and the lava so I'll be able to test this out this weekend.
I couldnt find the general samsung car charger that didn't have a cord already attached though.
Now I just need to find a USB backup camera solution and my car setup will finally be complete.

Goodluck. The 3 port one looks pretty large. Does that function differently than if we were to buy a 1 to 3 USB adaptor?
I have my 1 port working correctly. Strangely whenever I use the Lava adaptor it lists it as 100% charges right away, but if I unplug the charger it drops back down to whatever it really is. Not a huge deal, but annoying to not see the accurate battery level when plugged in.
The 3 port adapter is supposed to be better with charging and has a button for charge only wich is cool. And according to lava there is no power feedback from the tablet to the the adapter. The tablet port keeps my usb dac on even when I unplug power With the one port. And I'm sure that the 3 port will have no problem with a dac hard drive and mouse (hopefully will let everyone know when I get it in a week or so).the one port would have a power supply issue with all 3 devices.
I'm trying to connect my Tab S6 (SM-T867V) to my Logitech mouse, but as soon as I connect the OTG cable to the Tab, even before the mouse controller is insterted, I get a notification that says USB connector connected and then it switches to USB connector disconected and just keeps flipping between the two notifications every few seconds seemingly endlessly. I tried the otg cable with my Note 9 (SM-N960U) and it works perfectly fine with my mouse. The Tab and Note prompt me with charging/file transfer when the otg cable is hooked into the Note and connected to the Tab via a usb c cable so that seemed to work fine. The tab also works normally when charging and using a usb c to hdmi adapter, so I don't think it's a port issue. Both devices are on One UI 2.1 and both have USB 3.1 type C 1.0 reversible connectors, so I'm really confused as to why I'm getting this bug. If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it!

I didn't think about PD making a difference, but maybe you're right. My usb c to hdmi does support PD, but the power wasn't plugged in when I tried it and it still worked tho ?
But either way, I ended up purchasing a bluetooth mouse instead just because it's more useful to have one for my tablet rather than unplugging my laptop's every time I take the tab somewhere. I will keep this in mind for if I need to add more accessories later, so thanks for the info.

Does anyone have a dust plug for their Pixel 6 that has the correct radius on the cap? If so, could you post a link plz

Yeah. It looks like there is a radius on the ends that is designed to match the phone so it doesn't look a weird n ****.
You can also get those magnetic USB C charging adapters that protect your USB C port and still allows charging without taking it off.

Except that the Pixel won't charge with (all of?) them.
I have great ones, with high speed + data transfer etc., they work fine with my OP7 and Samsung tablet (and even my e-cigs as well as PC mouse + keyboard) but the P6 simply refuses to recognize any charging current coming through them
