Hi guys,
Much like the MI-flash do we have some computer programs like a MI-assistant that could allow us to back all our stuffs on our computer. B/C sadly I'm having issues with TB to back games like Nova 3 and such. So do we have any computer program likes that?
Kind regards

hi
Some questions from a newbie to Android.
1. the Accounts and Sync Settings does not seem to have a section for setting up a normal POP3 email account ... is it missing, somewhere else, or am I just clueless?
2. There is always a lot of crap running in the back ground. The phone seems to start up SocialHub, which I don't use, but that kicks off Email (currently set to NOT sync, and only required gmail account defined). How do I stop the social hub from starting up? Killing the tasks does not help, they just restart later.
Other things which keep starting include Latitude and Gallery. I've already removed ALL the widgets from the TW interface, except the four defaults along the bottom.
Am using Go Launcher as well as Touchwiz.
Have rooted the device then reinstalled KE2.
Thanks, Ian
If you never really use social hub, just remove it using root explorer. That way it can never bother you.
It is safe to remove, check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069924
not sure about the other stuff sorry
this is the way android functions.. dont worry.. unless it is really dramatically slowing down you rphone, which i doubt so!
I used Norton Utilities to see that there is A LOT of apps currently in some type of semi-running state.
What I notice as well is that Angry Birds official from Market runs choppy - birds fly with varying speed - decreasing accuracy and making game experience worse
Any comments on this would be appreciated.

Better still IMO freeze it with Titanium, then if you have issues (unlikely) or change your mind, you can just unfreeze it.
Solved (mostly)
Well the good news is that I had an app called Gemini App Manager, which allows you to stop things from Autoloading.
Since I am rooted, I could switch on Expert Mode which shows you ALL the things that run and under what circumstances... had to go through those and switch off the various autorun conditions and things are much better now.
I see there are other apps on Market which also offer autorun editing but have not tested those .. Gemini works for me.
Only worry is that when I do kernel update all those setting may get reset ... oh well.
cheers, Ian
Hi, I've got a new phone recently, and I'd like to turn my old HTC legend into a mp3 player.
I'd like to completely remove Android and just make it a file manager similar to an iPod Classic, so I can play audio and video files.
I want the file manager to be the ONLY program on the phone, exept being able to take pictures (althogh the last is optional)
How do you do that/anything similar?
Thank you.
I don't think removing Android fully and using the phone with just a file browser is an option, I might be wrong though.
Your best bet would be to run CM7 without the Gapps package, this will probably be as light and fast as your going to get.
MoPhoACTV Initiative
Well, I don't want it to be an Android anymore
I did something similar with my old Motorola Droid. I wanted it just to be an Audible player, so I installed CM7 and just disabled as much as I could. With root access, you can remove a number of system apps without breaking anything, and then use something like LauncherPro to hide the rest ot the icons in the app drawer that you don't want on there. You can also make a dock at the bottom in LauncherPro that has nothing on it, so that you can't even get to the drawer without adding an icon for it in the dock. You would end up with a homescreen that just has whatever specific apps you want on it, similar to an iPod Touch.
It'll probably be close to impossible to get something working on there that isn't Android--the touchscreen/wifi/camera rely on drivers and such. Your best bet will probably be to go with a ROM and customize it to fit your needs.
If you've ever used the Rockbox firmware for various MP3 players, there is an Android port. This runs like a regular app on Android. Its compiled daily for Android here:
http://rasher.dk/rockbox/android/
You still need an operating system, you can't just get rid of Android. You could disable stuff that isn't essential to the OS like Gapps, and any other apps you dont need.
Hopefully upgrading today to the New One M8 device. I have ATT One X+ now and going to Verizon for the New One. Just curious of how to successfully transfer all my apps and all their data to new device? I know Google will download all my apps once I co figure my new device but how about their data? Like my private photos saved in Vaulty app, my game progress in dead trigger 2, etc?
I don't know if titanium backup is the answer and if it will work as it's backing up on this device then trying to restore app data on HTC New One M8 device?
This One X+ is my first android phone so never done this before upgrading to another android device. Appreciate any help in simple terms for me.
In settings and backup I have the box checked that says backup app data to Google on WiFi connection if that makes a difference?
You should have asked this question after you got your new phone .
I have only one phone, but I also have a virtual android device running via BlueStacks. Both are connected to one google account. After I downloaded Asphalt 8 on Blue Stacks, it didn't restore my save games from my HTC (but even Asphalt has an in-build cloud store option). So I've created a backup of my save game using Helium/Carbon and restored it, but I think Titanium should work as well.
If using Helium/Carbon, you are can connect one phone to another using an internet connection. Then, you can choose on one phone "restore app data from other phone" option. While you simply relax, the whole thing is going on... And works!

I wanted to have all my ducks in order before I get my new phone. Worst case I basically saved storage on my device to my laptop so can manually do that for music, photos, etc.
Thing is the New One M8 device does not have root yet so can't even use titanium backup. Does this carbon app work without root?
Thing is I'm trading in my One X+ for my new device so I have to backup my phone to my laptop which I did.
What I'm worried about now though is game data for dead trigger 2. Have a lot of time and money in that game and hate to lose it all when installing on my new device.
Carbon does work without root, my HOX+ is unrooted. The only thing is, you need to connect your phone to your PC once. After that, you can plug it out and use Carbon. You will have to repeat it only if you reboot your device.
Hi Guys,
I have been looking for a very long time now for a good file manager for pc wth no bloatware, something like androdid commander or qtabd are there any moded versions knocking about that work with android 7+ or is there some other software now that it clean and great like these 2
I have been unable to get them to work fully and successfully since android 5.
I hate apps like mobile go and tunes go they are all bloated with crap and running services i would also be happy to beta test any upcoming soft as connect my phone to pc each day mainly to backup apps
Hello,
So I just transfered my Data throught Smart Switch, wich was basically a good thing.
However on one part Iam really not so happy and need a better way.
Because if you want to transfer your Accounts as well (check this Option), you get forced to activate WIFI & Internet - for everything else you don't need to.
Why? Probably because Smart Switch wants to send your accounts to the samsung servers, wich is done pretty fast, because the accounts are basically just text.
I don't want to send my accounts around and I bet you don't want to as well. Except you do sync everything... then its too late anyway.
So my Question is:
Is there a good workaround or another tool, wich lets you transfer your main accounts - without sending them to samsung or anyone?
What is your experience? And do you know a workaround?
Please let me/us know

Never trust SmartSwitch with critical data.
Make backups for contacts and all apps the allow you export/import settings/data. Use ApkExport to make installable copies of all your apps and updates.
All critical data like images, music, vids should be backed up as folder and should already be redundantly backed up to at least 2 hdds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC.
When going to a different model it's best not to use SmartSwitch. For the same device I use it to transfer homepage settings only.
A clean load yields best results... and can last years with minimal maintenance if you don't do stupid stuff including firmware updates and upgrades.
Yeah, I think so as well.
However APK Export is from 2018. I don't think It can be trusted either. Especially with Android 12 etc
Also I didn't give SmartSwitch Internetaccess, because of AFwall, so Iam ok with that.
Problem is now, how to transfer all the accounts? I don't like to do it all manually.
It doesn't let me do it without an Internetconnection, wich can't be trusted. I don't want to send all my accounts to samsung, lol. That seems to be the only purpose, why there needs to be an Internet Connection with the Accounts.
Before Titanium Backup was great and also it took all the Accountdata with it (whatsapp etc).
Now there seems to be Swift Backup, but I need to test it first.. it doesn't seem to be that powerful.

Well I'm running Android 9 and 10, deliberately.
The ApkExport is clean freeware.
It either will work with 12 or not.
Easy enough to test.
Now Iam also searching for another Alternative.
So basically to have the Function like Smart Switch, but for any Phone, so you can at least quickly transfer contacts etc. - any Ideas?
Edit: maybe found some ways here:
https://mobiletrans.wondershare.com/samsung-transfer/alternatives-for-samsung-smart-switch.html
Edit2:
they are all not as good as Smart Switch so far... damn.
Edit3: Here is Smart-Switch and many Alternatives - wich need to be tested..
smart switch - Android Apps on Google Play
Enjoy millions of the latest Android apps, games, music, movies, TV, books, magazines & more. Anytime, anywhere, across your devices.
play.google.com
But Iam still searching for a good way to also transfer the accounts savely to an S22U.
Damn a Smart-Switch Mod would be awesome.

Backup as a text or wdoc so you can cut/paste.
You need to redundantly backup critical data by tried and proven methods or you risk getting your data splattered like a NYC crime scene.
Ok, now I have an S21 Ultra ^^
But still I had this Problem... and some apps didn't had their app data.
I have both rooted phones. Isn't there a better alternative?
Edit again:
Before I always used Titanium Backup in this Case, wich worked great, but sadly does not work on Android 11/12 properly and now it seems to be abandonware.
However here I found a possible solution/alternative:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=swift+backup
But I wonder again, why you have to login to your google account with this tool...
And here are some solutions as well:
