In previous versions of the Shostock ICS ROM, when I used voice commands with my Blueant Q2 headset, it automatically used Samsung Voice Command for making hands-free calls (worked great). But since I upgraded to 4.1.4, it defaults to Google Voice Dialer and then doesn't work. I can't find GVD in the applications list to deactivate nor can I find a way to make SVC the default.
Shoman didn't have any idea about the problem.
Can someone help?
Thanks in advance.
I think shoman misunderstood your original question when he responded about installing SVC yourself, but you only gave him a couple hours to respond to your clarification about setting the default before you posted over here.
Which voice command pops up for you now when you press the search button on the phone? The Google Now one that has "Search, or say Google" in the search bar or a different one?

When I press the button my Blueant Q2 headset, the Google Voice Dialer pops up. The little red circle to the right of Google then has a never-ending circling line and GVD never seems to engage.
I want SVC to pop up, not GVD.
Does that help? Can you help?
BTW, I just upgraded to Shostock 4.1.4.
Gotcha. I think I understand. Have you tried a long press on your phone's search button to pop up all search/dial options and set Samsung's to default?

When I press the Search button, Google Now popped up, but I told it "Maybe Later."
I just tried long pressing Search, per your suggestion, and set Samsung Voice Talk as the default. After that, when I long press Search SVC comes up. But when I use my headset, GVD still pops up.
Other ideas?
I do appreciate the help...
After messing around some, this seems to be a problem with 4.1.4. I use AVX as my default and hadn't gotten around to reinstalling it since I flashed shoman's latest. After restoring it, I set it to default and am having the same exact deal as you, a press on the search button opens Google Now but my headset starts the Google dialer with the spinning red circle even though my default is set to something else. A long press on the search button will open my default, though.
Just flashed back to 4.1.2 and the problem persisted, so it isn't the latest version of the Shostock ROM.
So what has changed? I don't know. But being able to voice dial while driving is essential for me and I can't do it now.
Thoughts?

While I have you, have you tested any of the Jelly Bean ROMs available? If so, any recommendations?

Nope, I haven't and probably won't until sho releases one. I'm pretty dedicated to his ROMs.
You want to post about this in the Dev thread or me?

It's more than that. Before Google Now, a press on the phone's search button opened whatever your default was set to (same as a long press on my Plantronics set). Now, a press always opens Google Now's search, and a long press opens your default. I could live with that, but our headsets now always open up neither, it starts the old google voice command. Pretty funky.

Its not more then that... googlenow replaces the googlesearch apk. Voice search with the long press has always been there and that hasn't changed.

Hardly an "epic fail" on your part given the awesome ROM that you have created.
Any solution?
I restored back to 4.1.1 and it works great. As I need hands-free, I'll stick with that until this problem gets ironed out (or you create a JB ROM!).

I don't like adding something that breaks something else. There is an s voice that works I guess...I might try that.

Hi guys, I need a little help here.
On ICS I used to skip songs on Poweramp using the headset button, but since I upgraded to Jellybean, the long press goes to Voice Search on Google Now? Is there a way to disable that? I already configured on Poweramp to use the long press, gave it high priority, but google voice continues taking place and there's no options there to disable it.
Any idea?

If you install a headset button conytol app and set the sensitivity of the buttons to your personal need it works pretty good.
This app does not only control the buttons but also the app itself, like Poweramp,, but also online players like Spotify an Rdio. Free, no ads.

I've made the app which brings back long-press functionality for the button. Headset Remapper remaps “HEADSETHOOK WAKE” key with the “MEDIA_NEXT WAKE”. In other words when you press the play/pause/accept/decline button (the one in the middle or the only one in your remote) it will be “seen” by the Android OS as the SKIP button (next song).
Having this done you can use your button again with its full functionality (I checked that it works with this app: Headset Button Controller). Remember that you need to configure the SKIP (MEDIA_NEXT) button not the the play/pause/accept/decline !
This app needs ROOT to run!

I tried the app and it didn't work for me on a US Cellular Galaxy S3. I'm not sure why. I started it, granted it root, and it said it was successful when I made the change. I rebooted, and then tested it out and holding the button still launched Google Now. I then restored the original file with the app. Then I followed these manual instructions in this thread and rebooted. I need to point out that I do not have a sec_jack.kl file, so I only edited Generic.kl. After doing the edit by hand and rebooting, long press now works the way I want and doesn't launch Google Now. :victory: I use Headset Button Controller for assigning the functions.

just say 'Google' on the google now. It will start the voice search. The long press is intended to be used to start google now when you're in an application (kinda like global shortcut).
Right, but is there a way to make the long press go directly to voice search?

There used to be a Tasker solution for this, but it seems JB has broken the Tasker Search Helper, as well.
Try using Tasker in conjunction with 'Assistant Event for Tasker' (free). I have it working on my phone.

I'm not sure if this is true for other phones listed above, but for The Galaxy Note II, I had to make sure S-Voice was disabled (it says Voice Dialer on the first post).
Also, if you have downloaded bluetooth launcher you probably already tried:
"Google Search" and then selected "com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.VoiceSearchActivity"
and was still launching S-Voice. Once you disable S Voice (note the space) go into Settings > Application manager and scroll to the right to ALL. Then find S Voice and disable it.
Once you disable it and hit the button on the paired bluetooth device, you will get a "Complete Action Using" dialog. Resist the temptation to choose Google search. I know it's the logical choice, however you will not get Google Now; you will get a Google voice dialer instead. So make sure you choose "Bluetooth Launch" and select ALWAYS. Now when you hit the bluetooth button, you should get Google Now.
soooo, no progress

If you like Bixby, congrats you're weird. Haha. But if you don't and want to remap I suggest using bxActions. Let's you remap the Bixby button to whatever, I use it your Google assistant.
dude exactly what I was looking for
Just an FYI bxActions seems to kill Car Mode for Galaxy. Yes car mode sucks but I don't even use the app. I use it to get into full screen mirroring so I can use ALL my apps in my car. Navigation included. Apparently bxActions overlays the screen and prevents me from using my touchscreen altogether. Once I uninstalled bxActions all was well again. I'll live with that button being active.
Not knocking bxActions. It's great for what it does. I just want mirrorlink more than I want to kill that button. I'm just putting this here for anyone else having issues with Car Mode, mirrorlink and looking for a solution.

Same here. Had too much lag, it would briefly open bixby, than the app I remapped it to. Now I just have a dead button. I wish Samsung had it remappable out the box. That and a "Just once/Always" when choosing default apps. For the meantime I use "Better open with" app. It's great.

Nope, still great. No annoying Bixby now.
I think I'm weird, though it's still brand new to me. I may just be caught in the novelty that you can completely control your phone with it. That was sort of the dream of the nerdy 3rd party voice apps and Tasker setups few years ago.
I was just afraid I couldn't use GA at the same time. Now I sort of feel like I have the best choice for different tasks. I've had Siri for the past year and it sucked.
But ultimately voice assistants are probably all somewhat dumb so far. Also, it must affect battery having 2 systems listening.

Same here, althought training Bixby is being a nightmare, After 2 hours I finally got to the second stage of the voice training where it wants me to read a few sentances, then it just takes a turd and says it didnt hear **** and wants to start over again.
I just never set either of them up. Problem solved! Best voice assistant I have seen is Hound. You can ask it some complex things.
You know with Bixby you can make a custom chat. Type in your question and type in what you want it to respond...can get pretty humorous

Thanks for the head's up. BK Package Disabler works great to kill Bixby. While in the app, if you hit the three vertical dots settings in the upper right one of the items is the Bixby remapper. Anyone try this yet? It looks like you have to re-enable bixby briefly in order to do the remap.
I hated bixby at first but im finding the chain commands very useful, even the built in commands like Goodnight and Good Morning, movie mode, work really well and I'm able to add lighting macros to connected items.
I like good morning on GA but it lacks the hardware switches that make bixby unique.
