I've heard a few different things. I've heard that Samsung did not include sensors in The View to automatically switch from landscape to portrait. I don't remember where I saw it but there was an app called rotation manager that they used and I saw someone just released a working Root + TWRP for the Wi-Fi model in the Android development forum. I can't remember what site I saw it on, but someone did have it working without root and rotation manager app but when they got it working some apps would not fit correctly on screen. To my understanding even if you got the view portrait mode working you can only switch to it manually but not 100% sure . if that's incorrect please let me know. I'll probably rooted today or tomorrow and try it and will post my findings.

Hi letsgotowawa, did you succeeded with your action to get portrait mode working? I'm really searching for an option to do this, but haven't found one yet. No one has portrait mode 100% working on this device (with keeping features like WIFI off course)?
Thanks for an answer.

Have you had any luck yet? My journey to portrait mode on the Galaxy View has just begun, haha.

the new update is not getting installed in my mini. is anybody facing same error?
I had to search for it in the market, and install it manually (didn't automatically show as an update) but it seems to be working.
[edit] 3d maps *DO* work (Go to New York, and zoom in) - the problem is that we can't perform the gesture to change the map angle, so we're stuck with a top-down view, but they're definitely 3d
Still can't get to the compass view, though
Downloaded perfectly for me mate, and yes its meant to have 3D maps, but its not showing on mine either..
in the video of gmaps 5.0 they use gestures with teo fingers to "switch" into 3D... but we lack multitouch...
>,< that sucks!! if only they had an option..
noob question: do i have to first uninstall the maps that came with the phone?
or replace the stock market? because it's not even showing in the market
it should be in the downloads section as an update..
3d maps are for froyo+ only... so nothing for us :-(
i had it in market as update available
I thought it was for 2.0+ and why wud they giv an update notification if it is not for us lol
Sent from my E10i using Tapatalk
i have 2.1 on my mini pro and got the update.
unfortunately i havent been able to get the tilting nor the compass mode on the fone if anyone manage to get these to work, let us know.
It is still a great update though - vector / offline cache / 3d.
oh, and you don't need to uninstall the previous version to get the update to ggle maps 5.0
This should clarify...

I really don't get why they didn't add tilt buttons for non-multi touch phones (after all there's already zoom buttons)

Nope, still no dice. Does your market open the QR code from appbrain?
I get "requested item not found" or something to that effect.
I don't see it on the market either.
Hi,
i cant activate the compass mode??
and can someone upload a download link for google maps 5.0...
cant find it in market....
I found working one for x10 mini but no 3D mode will upload later
Sent from my E10i using Tapatalk
anybody found the reason why it doesn't come out in the download section as an update?
or even as a result when searching for it in the market?
does anyone have the latest version? can it be uploaded?

Hi all,
Note: This is only for jellybean roms.
First of all, check this link here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2079807&highlight=note
I have not tried this yet but if you read first post, it states it works with Original note.
I am going to try it when I have spare time mean while if anyone trys, let us know it works or not.
Cool-- talking someone else into risking their phone.
I tried install and run it. Looks like it works at setting but do not know how to activate it.
I guess nothing really risky since it is all through play store. At least nothing weird happen to my note. still trying to find how to use it.
Should put in title or at least first post that this is for Jelly Bean ROMs only.

I enabled apps and rebooted but no changes for me. I was expecting multi window icon in app like Note 10.1. Still not sure how to use it...
this is a multi-window manager
it manages the multi-window feature in tw based roms with that feature, nothing more nothing less.
there for it wont work on? thats right, roms without multi-window

Ouch.... I was excited bit for moment. Thanks for your answer Jamie.
Uninstalling from my note. :crying:
I have configured the shortcut "Screen off and Hibernate" with the Google Now swipeup gesture and is working pretty well on Lollipop. Anyway after having enabled a Lockscreen security Pattern and "Smart Lock" I noticed an issue on this side that's pretty annoying.
If I shut off the screen using the Power Button, the Smart Lock is correctly working on the next Wakeup: it recognize my LG G watch or Face or Secure Place and shows no pattern check. If I use the gesture (and so, Greenify) to shut off the screen, my phone is locked no matter where I am or which device is near me (smart lock isn't working).
Could this be worked on?
Thanks
I noticed that too, indeed quite annoying. Would higly appreciate a fix.

The same happens to me in even in version 2.6.1. I detected it in Lollipop 5.0.1 and 5.1 on a non-rooted Nexus 4.
The only current solution is "Boost Mode" with Xposed.
Greenify seems to have updated this to work with Smart Lock but only if rooted. Star this issue to have hope it one day works without root: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=193125

Did you find any workaround or you are using the root approach? I have been searching far and wide for a solution since google marked the issue as WORKING AS INTENDED. Would be glad to know if a workaround exists, or do I have to use root privileges in my app?
Since it was new, my TAB S3 rotates to portrait whenever I try to look at FB marketplace. I have tried everything I could find through searches. My wifes S3, bought at same time, stays in landscape mode. We both have screen auto rotate turned on. I even tried turning auto rotate off, it still rotates. Also, when it does this, the pics don,t fit properly on the screen. Help
I had this problem on the original Galaxy Note 10.1. I figured it was just because somehow Facebook was installing an older version. It was a Verizon SCH 925 or so it never got updated passed 4.1.2. I never had the problem on my 2014 edition which was running lollipop stock or Los 14. Have you updated it to Oreo yet? Have you tried stock recovery and formatted the cache partition? Not a factory reset just the cache partition. Tried clearing data and cache for the app itself? I wish I could help you more, but seeing as how it's not doing it on hers but is on yours it's most likely just a corrupt Facebook file that's forgotten how to handle the gyroscope.
Thanks for the reply. I put up with it thinking the update to Oreo would fix it. Just got the update a few days ago, no change in the problem. Have since done a complete uninstall of the FB app and reinstalled with no change.

Why not just install smart rotate from play. It'll solve all your problems.

Thanks, that did fix the rotation issue. Now it cuts off the post on either side
Add: Apparantly I have to host the screenshot to post it, I'll try that in a few.

Have you messed with any of the display settings on this device? Font settings, zoom settings etc?

Yes, and thanks for all the ideas.
Compare the miminum resolutions you each have under developer settings, it may at least stop the app from cutting off as apps hew to screen res

Thanks for the advice. The only setting that I could find relating to resolution was Minimum Width. Both were set at 768 dp.
I have exact same issue. Did you find a fix?

Netwolfstar I could fix the rotation issue with an external app, but the sides of the posts were still cut off. Did you have this problem too?

The only thing I found to help was to rotate my tablet to portrait and open marketplace. Then everything displays properly, but ony in portrait.
I had the grey on market place. I uninstallerd facebook and installed facebook lite app instead...Problem solved. Then install smart rotation app to get facebook to rotate.... Happy days...
It's 2023 and still no fix.
Anyone else experiencing connecting to Android Auto and all your settings reverting back to stock mode vs dark/black? I was also having issues with navigating my map on my screen after putting an address in and gave my a route, but wouldn't do anything when I clicked the route.
Very strange stuff

Yes. That was happening to me before I wiped and rooted. I've used Android yesterday and today multiple times...issue is gone now. So...I don't know.

Interesting... I also didn't know the T-Mobile variant can be rooted.
Nope, but I specifically set dark mode in Android auto dev settings and in Android system settings, haven't had any issues.

I forgot about Dev settings. Are you talking about "Day/Night" option?
Also, what should "Application mode" be set to?
That's what I mean, the day/night setting. Setting it to Night forces dark mode (like when it detects your headlights on).
