Some of the guys like me still uses 3g.. There is 3g bug in cm
Sure, you can use previous builds or test build but you are just too lazy like me to use it
1. First please set the preferred network to 3g
2. Then, set it to 2g and turn on the cellular data and wait for edge sign to show up
3. Quickly switch to 3g back and the h+ sign will show up.
4. Repeat if you still can't
See my screenshot for proof

anyone knows how to make the wifi take priority in internet access whenever it is turned on and available at the same time with an edge connection, i always have to go to comm manager and turn off the data then turn on wifi to access that wifi speed.. thank you
Some helpful information that might apply to your question can be found at:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/634830.html
<snip>
when enabled, WiFi takes priority over UMTS connection, so even if you have them both up, the phone will choose the wireless network, unless you are trying to browse to a web site which was added to 'exclusions list' (like your operator's home page).
but, only if you have changed the default settings to set that WiFi connects you to the Internet. Which is not the default.
To do so you have to go into the Settings -> Connections -> Network Cards -> Network Adapter.
</snip>
I have found this information on several different forums with several different folks and use cases posted. I also think that you might get some milage out of the "comm mgr pro" or "IP Dashboard" applications as well...
Hope this helps,
Bob
Thank you Bob, ill mess with it a little more and post feedback, that was helpful
Thanks again

Out of curiosity, I have wifi and 3G active in Comm Manager.

i only have edge, no 3g for me how did you know which had priority? i would because of edge speed over the wifi speed.. what about 3g, is it almost as fast as wifi, browse quick?

Simple, I have both activated, move near and away my router range.
When the Wifi signal is weak, the service provider (3G, my case) takes over.
Otherwise when the Wifi signal is strong, the 3G never get to activate.
Maybe others had a better and different approach.
All telco service signal should be available unless you are in fringe area.

oh cool, yea this sounds like the way to go so far, noone has come up with a better solution yet? maybe benchmarking the speeds of each stil it depends on your cable provider (wifi i mean)
lately, i have experienced that, all the new roms, based on cm7X, have gprs connectivity problem for bsnl, india sim cards.
as suggested by a developer (sorry, i forgot the name), i copied the apns-conf.xml file from stock rom to /etc folder in cm7 based rom. but gprs does not connect as it should.
many cm7 based roms do not have the apn settings for bsnl. if an apn is set manually, the story is same... no gprs.
has anyone faced this problem.
because of this, i am restricted to stock roms and could not enjoy fabulous roms developed by all the developers at xda.
thanks.
me also used to have the same problems
if you have 3g connection go to network preference choose auto mode and uncheck use only 2g
now you will be connected to 3g now go and chk use 2g only now mostly you will get data connection
some times going into airplane mode and then back into normal makes it connect
try it and hit thanks if helped

have tried all the permutations and combinations. but connectivity is never for sure like stock rom.
may be a handicap in cm7.
hey there,
i am on cm 9.1.0 now. i was using nightlys before and before that the latest nightlies of cm 7. since the may- or june-nightlies i experienced some problems with my data connection (3g or H). despite full and blue bars in the statusbar with an 3g or H, sometimes i did not have any connection. i did not have those problems with wifi. and sometimes, when i was outside and surfing, the connection broke off from one page to the other. in some cases entering flightmode and turning it off again helped. but not always...
could it be that i need another modem-fw?
how would i do that?
where do i find my current version?
tyvm!!
ps: see my settings:

Hey guys my s3 is great except every night when I get home I need to manually go into my mobile network settings and set it to GSM rather than Auto. Reason for this is at home at night my 3G drains my battery immensely. I'm currently running omega 27.9 with root but this also happened on stock.
I'd like to find a way to either set it up by toggle through a widget, or through taster somehow. This is different from just turning off 3G data because the voice component will still search for the 3G network, I want to find a way to actually set voice and data to GSM hopefully automatically (perhaps screen off for 10 minutes?)
I had look at tasker but it could only toggle the data network.
Thanks!

I think HD widgets has a switch widget to toggle between 2G and 3G.
Go to Settings>Mobile Networks>Network Mode>GSM
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I suspect that the connection rate here is lower in H +, so I would test only in H. However, almost always connected to the H +, would like to know any code or application to disable H+ to test H.
You can't. It's all network side. You can only drop it back manually to 3G in the network settings but you'd find the speed of that intolerable.
Edit - Actually, I found this searching through my thousands of S2 bookmarks. I'm not sure if this will do what you're asking as I've not been through it thoroughly/tried myself as I don't need to, but I think it's probably your best shot at achieving what you're after.
