Root it, not only you can customize but you can be the administrator of your phone instead of the companies.

Once u decided to root it , I would say u took a matured decision .welcome to the world of development !!

Root

Root is for the brave.

You can wait tbh till warranty runs out, but there is little chance of getting an error that you can't fix on xda if you mess up rooting

rooting is just a case of unlocking and installing a recovery . fail will be with unlocking or installing the recovery in both cases he can retrieve stock . but its matter of voiding the warranty what i was saying to him .

[Q] Root a contract SGSII?

Hi there.
I'm sort of itching to root my Galaxy S II, but I am reluctant in doing so because for the first time, I have this phone on contract from o2. Not to mention the rooting process looks more complicated than other phones I have rooted in the past (T-Mobile Pulse and ZTE Blade). I'm not too sure on installing a custom rom as the stock rom is fine, at least until CM and/or MIUI is availble for stable use.
Can anyone suggest a safe and easy way of doing this please? Much appreciated!

I bought it on friday, by saturday mornning it was rooted w/o problems, I just installed Chainfire rooted Kernel via Odin, took me like 3 mins, after that installed Cognition
Alright then. I reckon if I sit down and read it through properly, I can root it easy enough. Though the thing I am worried about is the fact I'm on contract with my phone, with no insurance. So could this void my warranty? And is there any way of ****ing it up and bricking the phone?
Just checking

Yes its very very very slightly possible to brick a phone but recoverable .
Warranty Root or Stock Rom = no warranty. You would need to resore a stock firmware and clear the rom counter .

Is that easy? Because with any luck, I wouldn't need to do that at least for another 20 months when I return the phone.

You don't need to return your phone when your contract ends - it's yours as soon as the contract starts!

No worries mate. Obviously you still need to return it to stock state if you need to send it back to your provider for repair, but it's your phone now
The way it works with a contract is the phone is a gift as an inducement to take out the contract . Saves the network responsibility for two year warranty on phone .

[Q] Is it worth unlocking my bootloader ?

I'd unlock my bootloader straight away but only if it doesn't void my warranty ..
i still have about 7 months in it .
I have a rooted xperia S , eager to install cyanogenmod 10 M2 cuz it gives me android 4.1.2 while being stuck now with 4.0.4 ...
So is it worth unlocking the booloader ? i just forget the whole warranty thing and go for it ? or the device might get damaged later on ?
Appreciate any Help and opinion
Thanks .
Well, once you unlock boot loader and root your beloved mobile, you will get such a pleasure which you don't get generally on a stock based unrooted ROM.
Although you'll have to sacrifice your warranty for it.
No, it won't cause any damage to your device unless your stupid enough to mess up the instructions and do it wrongly.
Benefits of ROOTING :
-Ability to install CUSTOM ROMS, kernels..etc
-Modify your phone the way you want
-Many apps needs root access, which don't usually run on a STOCK unrooted ROM.
-Get latest Android unofficial updates for your phone model......
...the list is endless

Does not answer your question but my own opinion, ignore this post if doesn't help you...
Do you have insurance? I prefer using Insurance rather than Warranty any day. You can do whatever you want and pay a small deposit and get a refurbished phone (or a new one if you get lucky) and it comes next day.
If you know how to root you should also know how to unroot for warranty purposes. I had to unroot my old g2 for that reason

It is a good idea , but my country doesn't offer this kind of service for mobiles ..

Yeah lots of advantages by unlocking and rooting , and honestly i hate Sonys UI , its laggy , it would've been way better if they gave us stock experience ..
I'll be working again soon , so maybe i'll take the risk and unlock and even if the device broke , i'll pay a max of what 50 bucks ? or another max is i buy the new upcoming nexus phone so i would get the latest updates first .. hate to be left behind ..

To RooT or Not To RooT... ???

I have a verizon samsung galaxy s4.
Sch-1545
Just got it a few days ago.
I am trying to decide if I wanna root it or not.
But since it voids the phone warranty.. before I decide to root or not.. I would like to know.. that if I do root.. will verizon find out? Is there a way that they can find out? Is there something I can do so that they dont know?
Incase I decide to return it.. cuz I have 12 more days to decide if I wanna keep it or not. So if I root, then decide I dont want it.. can I unroot and return it, without them ever knowing that I did root it??
Most times when you root, there are easy methods to remove all traces of it. I don't know the s4 well myself, but do some Google research and if it looks to be that way, I say go for it - SAFELY. Don't rush it, do your homework. But root is extremely useful, and allows for many great apps (supersu, greenify, etc) and is usually essential to get custom recovery, and flash new roms. I'm sure xda has plenty of articles on the matter.
Good luck!

Currently there is no bootloader unlock, but there's an alternative way to gain root. Its very easy to do if you have a PC at home. Just follow the steps in this link below. There's even a video to explain how to gain root step by step in this link --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41718543
You can always restore your Verizon S4 back to stock if you want to return it and your warranty will not be voided. I have returned mine back to stock successful just to see how it worked. Hope this helps

Q: rooting Huawei G535-L11 (kestrel from EE)

hi, is there a way of rooting this phone, i've tried all rooting methods (one click , Vroot , framaroot, SRS, etc....) no luck, any suggestions from our XDA devs here ??
I am super disapointed with the lack of interest form the modding community. Kestrel beats MotoG in multiple areas and is a cracking piece of HW. My daily driver now (left my Note 3 as a backup device)
WIth Android 4.2 and Snapdragon 400 onboard, device is plenty fast, I would just like to get CM11 on it for the sake of a pure experience.
I guess rooting is becoming less and less of interest and OEMs doing a better job at developing their SW...

No, this is a tough phone to root, every root method failed, and VRoot claim that they root any phone, wrong not the Kestrel, even though bootloader unlocked, Bizzar

Thanks mate, I appreciate Huawei may have played the bad guys and made it tougher to root. I am having a hard time understanding why a pure consumer product like this one is locked so tightly by the OEM... It's not like they are trying to attack the entreprise market, next thing you know they will add a Knox like mechanism

i'm sure one of our devs here will come up with the root just to prove them wrong, i understand its a new phone branded as EE kestrel ,just about 1 month since its launch, i mean Huawei were quite good , supply the code to unlock the bootloader. i wish there was an old fashion way to root it, all these super one click methods don't hack it.
All we need is: Root file + recovery file :highfive:

this will root any devices, as long if your bootloader is unlocked, i didn't encounter any problems with mine , i've unlocked the bootloader first and then install the tr (towelroot) apk on the phone, one click 20 seconds later ,its rooted, it worked on all sumsung galaxys, this is the new one click root that'll root any device that failed with all the others rooting methods.
hope this helps.

How did you get your bootloader unlocked? As in..who did you contact?
What is the "product model" for http://en.club.vmall.com/emotiondownload.php?mod=unlock&action=pre ?
Just used the link above, and added an email with the phone details, they sent me the unlock codes within 30mn. Installed huawei suite on PC to get drivers. They have a guide on how to, in their site. That's it.
Sent from my Kestrel using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
EE Kestrel is G535-L11 which is not listed in the link. I also emailed Huawei and have waited for three weeks and have not had any responses.

what custom roms, there aren't any custom roms for the kestrel , not yet.
1- you'll need a custom recovery ( they haven't made one yet )
if you've found one that works with the kestrel , post the link
don't go flashing roms that aren't for your phone, you'll end up with a brick
Unlock bootloader : Check but the fastboot format all data
Root : Check
Go for recovery ....

Have you got a working custom recovery, to make a backup first. If you have one, send it to me. Cos I need one.

[Q] Does it worth to break the warranty?

Hello guys!!
I just want to know if it does worth to break the warranty, I have the moto e for 2-3 days and I want sooooo bad to flash a custom rom but I'm thinking about the warranty. What's your opinion? Does it worth?
Thanks
Yep it's totally worth it! I cant think of using a phone as my daily driver without root apps. And since its Motorola, it's really easy to root n unroot! I'd be hesitant putting a custom rom though if the phone u r using is the cdma one. But ROOT IT!
