By fresh install do you mean to loose all apps data?
I have Remix OS installed on its own EXT4 partition and the launcher changed its appearance for me too and crashed when I tried to change it back. Tried to reinstall without formatting the partition but it's stuck on logo or starting apps message.
Any solution to make it work without starting from scratch?

I've done it but how to keep Remix Wifi app from updating every time?
Never mind, I've found it myself, Just disabled auto-update for that app.
Hope this will get fixed soon.

I have a rooted NT and GO Launcher v2.65 running with little to no problem except that everytime I reboot any widgets I have added report back:
"Problem loading widget"
None of the apps are loaded on the SD-Card. I've tried a clean install with a reroot with nothing done except Go Launcher and a gapp or two to test the widgets but still get the error. Am I the only one?
On a side note after I rooted I didn't have to search for the Go app link anymore it just accepts the default setting.
Thanks in advance.
***edit***
I reinstalled the launcher but didn't set it to the default and that appeared to have worked but once i set it to default the problem started again.

That sounds more like a problem with version of Go Launcher... Try a 2.5x version and see.
Thanks for the suggestion. I downgraded to 2.53 and so far so good.

2.53 was missing some features i liked in v2.6x
Edit. Nvm 2.63 is failing too now....

It's not Go Launcher. I have the same problem with Launcher Pro and ADW.
It's got something to do with the Nook.
Version 2.66 just cameout, alot of widget fixes in it. Might be worth updating to it and testing.
I just installed the update and now my widgets are there after a reboot.
Im usin 2.66 now with no problems. Thanks!
I updated to 2.66 but widgets are still screwed up after a reboot.

Same here. Seems that this is a problem if you make go launcher your default launcher (using homecatcher).

Thanks, uninstalling homecatcher fixed the problem. Widget issues have been driving me nuts.
I had the widgets not loading issue until I applied the 160dpi fixes listed in the GApps thread here.
This was the only change I made to my system, and right after it no widget problem, so I'm guessing it was the fix.
I'm using GoLauncher 2.66 and Homecatcher.
Do location based apps work now also?

I unsinstalled homecatcher but now the "n" button will only take me to the stock launcher. Go Launcher is set as my default launcher, but it doesn't seem to care.
Possible workaround.
So this seems to have worked for me on my Nook Tablet. Using Go Launcher 2.66 and Home Catcher to re-purpose the "n" button. Go Launcher is set as default upon boot, and upon hitting the "n" button. The 160 dpi fix mentioned above didn't work for me, and I was having this issue on all 2.65 and 2.66 of Go Launcher. This workaround seems to have fixed it for me. I got the initial idea from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360036
Using Root Explorer or similar tool move your alternate launcher APK from /data/app to /system/app. Change the permissions to 777 (all 3 rows checked in root explorer). Then restart, and you should be good. I have restarted numerous times now, and had no widget problems.
Step-by-Step Directions:
Open Root Explorer
Browse to /system
Click Mount R/W button
Navigate to /data/app
Long Press launcher APK file (for me it was com.gau/go/launcherex-1.apk)
Choose Move
Navigate to /system/app
Press Paste button
Long Press freshly pasted APK file
Choose Permissions
Check all the top 9 checkboxes (Read, Write, Execute for Owner, Group, Others), leave all others as they are.
Press OK
Navigate to /system
Press Mount R/O button
Restart Nook
Usual at your own risk disclaimer applies.
Thanks ffwalrus! That worked!

Nice! I wonder though if just changing the file permissions in place (in data/app) would achieve the same thing? The thing I'm curious about is how will an update affect the location change.

I am really not sure. I think its more about the order they are loaded than the permission settings themselves. I will try with Go Launcher 2.65, and see if I can update to 2.66 and report back.
Thanks ffwalrus, works great!

Great! Fixed it for me too. Reboot after moving hung 3-4x longer than normal though, so I got worried
I just uninstalled Android through ACME Uninstaller and I full erased my touchpad + i web os doctored it. Is the uninstaller supposed to boot up every time i restart my touchpad? because everytime i shut it down or restart it, some commands pop up and i believe it is the uninstaller but i don't know what else it could be. I deleted everything that should've been deleted also.
Is this normal for WebOS to boot with those commands all the time? The code flashes by for a minute and then it loads normally. I am pretty sure i deleted everything i could

Once installed you should only see moboot menu (Options to boot into webos, recovery, cyanogen etc) initially with cyanogenmod being the default selected.
If this is not what your reffering to i would try wiping the cache, dalvik and factory reset then reflashing the ROM. You should also check the MD5 of the download to confirm you have a good file
Hope this helps
thats not what im referring to. I have uninstalled all of android by utilizing the uninstaller. But what happens is the uninstaller keeps running every time i do a device restart for the touchpad or i turn it off and then on. I don't know if that is normal for it to do that.

I actually acmeuninstalled last night and I'm not seeing the "code" your speaking of, maybe if you get what it says it would be more help, get a picture or video. But if your touchpad is running fine I wouldn't worry to much since you can always webdoctor it back to life if the worst happens.

i did it to start fresh with xron's latest build. Leo is magical with CM7 port.
i can barely read the commands its running but it seems like its reverting the touchpad back to pre android settings. It runs by the code for 30 seconds and then it loads webos.
I saw some of them as setting the cpu speed, the codec sample rate, deleting files that aren't even on my touchpad. I've doctored and full erase yet it persists. Hm..
Did you try to install ACME again?

This rom is based on Stock 1.4.1 + Root + Additional Stuff. It is flashed via CWM.
It provides an easy upgrade for people currently running 1.4.0.
If you are running 1.4.1 now - it is easier to root it using indirect's thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466583
[Disclaimer] I'll not be responsible for any damage done to your NT using this zip.
Credits:
1. Indirect, nemith & Goncezilla - for porting CWM to NT
2. brianf21 & gojimi - for Hidden Settings and HomeCatcher apps
3. AdamOutler, Loglud, hkvc, Bauwkz ... and all NT Devs
Links (do not mirror):
http://hotfile.com/dl/144306077/e77bd97/Nook141root.zip.html
Pre-requisite
You need to have a working CWM - either on SDCard or using the app created by Indirect
To install CWM on SDCard, follow this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446987
To install CWM using indirect's app, follow this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458630
Instructions:
1. Copy the zip (Nook141root.zip) to internal or external SD Card
2. Boot into CWM
3. Do a backup of your current rom (very important)
4. Install Nook141root.zip - took about 5 min
5. Reboot
6. Go through the bn registration process
7. Press "n" button and select HomeCatcher as default
8. Select zeam launcher as default
9. Use NTHiddenSettings to disable automount, enable adb and unknown sources
10. Configure it to your own liking - replace launcher, debloat etc
Additional Apps Included:
1. Superuser
2. HomeCatcher - thanks gojimi
3. NT Hidden Settings - thanks brianf21
4. NT Recovery Flasher - thanks indirect
5. Zeam Launcher
6. Gapps, Market, Gmail, Talk and VoiceSearch
7. Button Savior
8. Busybox Installer
9. CM Email - replace stock Email
10. Desk Clock, Calendar & Calculator
Notes:
1. This update will wipe everything (data and cache) - so you should backup your apps and data using Titanium for easy restore back
2. This update won't touch the recovery partition - If you want to be able to return to factory state, use NT Recovery Flasher to flash the Stock Recovery image (Comes with CWM and 1.4.1 recovery image)

Frankly I'm not sure about the real advantage - I only own it for a week +.
I am not sure about the homecatcher problem (use it only at the beginning) and once I set default launcher to zeam - it's not used anymore.
Pressing "n" button will brings out quicknav - then pressing home will go to zeam. Is it normal?
I'm still playing and learning - anyway with CWM, you don't have to worry about messing it up
wanted to thank you for this. I used in combonation with Indirect root and NT works great

I had this installed, and didn't have this issue. Then I installed cm7 alpha, experienced the near brick, and after recovering was going to come back to this rom, but after flashing it I was experiencing the same issue you're having now. I never did get it fixed, just ended up going back to cm7.
I wouldn't mind going back to this until the cm7 beta becomes available, so I'll be keeping an eye on this in case a solution arises.

Use NT Hidden settings. Steps:
1. Check "Unknown Sources" then Back and Click on "Unknown Sources Hack"
2. Exit
3. Go back to NT Hidden Settings and repeat step 1 & 2
Now if you go back to NT Hidden Settings again you'll notice Unknown Sources remains Checked - do nothing and exit.

Actually the opposite. If you have flash sideloaded (i.e. you used a program to load it because you can auto install from Google Play anymore), you go to the browser and select Settings>Advanced and Enable plug-ins should be set to off. then try a flash sit and that should work.
EDIT: When sideloading, make sure you allow apps to be loaded from unknown sources.

Works for me in the stock browser.
I'd been dirty flashing LineageOS on my Xiaomi Mi 5, with no real issues, for almost exactly a year so, on Saturday, I decided that it was time for a clean flash.
I used Titanium Backup (latest free version from Play Store) for all apps and data, and all system settings (the guide I followed suggested these 2 scripts were all I needed). I noticed that after the backup, my wallpaper was back to the default and a few other settings had been reset.
Then I clean flashed exactly following the instructions in the official 15.1 LOS thread for my device.
So I have the all the latest: TWRP, OpenGAPPS (nano), LOS SU, firmware, and last week's LOS 15.1 of course. I have nothing else like Magisk installed - it's basically vanilla.
I then completed the initial setup and then restored using the Titanium Backups. Aside from a few settings needing to be done again, all seemed well. But then the home and recents buttons stopped working, along with notifications and the drop-down settings menu.
A bit of Googling revealed that this is symptomatic of the install wizard not having completed properly so I re-triggered it using the Nova Launcher activities workaround and that seemed to fix it. When I restarted the phone however, it kicked me back into TWRP.
Reinstalling the weekly got it going again but I had to redo the Nova workaround. I can't get the fix to stick and I'm concerned that it's symptomatic of a deeper problem.
I'd really appreciate some help diagnosing the problem / advice on how to proceed.. No-one else has mentioned anything like this that I've been able to find on the Official LOS 15.1 threads so I guess it's unlikely to be a ROM problem.. Might it have been Titanium Backup messing up settings somehow?

I'm new to Titanium - how do you see which apps are frozen?

just scroll among the app list.. See if you have a purple highlight on "Setup Wizard app. Or just use "filter" on the setting, and select "show frozen apps only".

Thanks, I looked and neither Pixel Setup nor Setup Wizard are frozen on mine (although they might be just after startup - I'll check next time)
