Hi there,
I recently bought the new moto 360 sport.
It's the 2nd one that I have in my hands due to a ded pixel on the 1st one and sent back as D.O.A.
I was wondering why the reported battery capacity is 280mA instead of 300mA as Motorola lists in the watch specifications.
Just to mention that both of them reported around 280mA. To be even more specific the first one reported 280mA and the one I currently use 282mA.
On top of that both of them would shut down at around 9% which is quite irritating.
What is going on? Any similar issues anyone ?
Motorola reports typical battery capacity, usually some batteries will be slightly below that, so 280 of 300 is normal, minimum is probably 280. Mine reads 282mAh. Also AIDA 64 is reading what the system reads from the batteries software, it may not be accurate.
Battery should shut down before 0, otherwise it might not charge correctly of left for an extended period of time

Thanks for clarifying Dennis. Appreciate it. Although it is frustrating if the battery is not 0% or at least 2-5% and the watch turns off. I am a hiker and got this watch for hiking. When the battery gets around 10% I am forced to close and save the tracking in fear that my progress will be lost.
From all my other electronics I neder experienced these issues. I want to trust my device and not feel like I am not in control.
I'll give it some days to see how the indication goes and personally I'll go with the law in Europe and request a subsidy since I bought a device wih 300mA and got one with less.
(Really not any mobile device has this issue, all report the manufactures capacity)
Just also to clarify I am a senior full stack developer and been in software more than 25 years.
Can anyone of you, fit 2 owners, submit first impressions?
I am mostly interested in how notifications are working, are they seamless of the phone brand (same set of features no matter of phone being Samsung or not)...
Second thing is battery ofc, for instance, can it last 4 days (GPS free), with notifications turned on, normal usage?
I Like the device, own first generation, but use it with open fit app, and I am missing mostly notifications part as it was intended when using with great fit manager...

Not good, but satisfying By the way, charging is very comfortable with original charger. So, in technical, hardware side, I am satisfyied wit Gear Fit 2. Annoying is only buggy software.
Good, hopefully they implemented reply by template for both call and SMS notifications, find these options really useful...
But, 2 day battery is a deal breaker to me... We'll see...

BTW, first charging (not sure, was it fully charged?) lasts 2 full days. Used hardly - few trail "trainings" (~1hr each) with GPS, few workout session (~1hr each), played with settings, listened music, tryed some watchfaces.
2 days max, not with brighteness on 10
after 6, almost 7 days of 'testing' up till today

Here's my quick and dirty review so far. My prior devices: Fitbit, Polar Loop, Garmin Vivosmart, Garmin VSHR, Microsoft Band 2
Hardware: Very nice design. Well put together (doesn't feel cheap), screen is gorgeous. Band is comfortable and I don't even realize I'm wearing it. Waterproofing is nice. Has magnetic charging and charges at 1.32%/min. One con is that they don't include a loop on the band to lock it in place - I've had it pop off while brushing my wrist against things. Heart rate is accurate enough for RHR calculations. Had to buy a loop (18mm size) for $5.
Software: Beta-like. Buggy. Calories aren't calculated correctly. There are some decent apps (caffeine and water) and the one's there do have good UI/GFX. Notifications are easy to read and work bidirectional (an issue I had with the MS Band 2, where reading it on the phone didn't sync the read status on the band, annoying). Stair tracking is finicky and prone to inaccuracies.
Battery Life: I just logged a test of 91% usage over 68hrs. No GPS & wifi off. Display brightness at 5. Bluetooth on w/ notifications. 1hr worth of workout w/heart rate monitoring. Sleep tracked. That puts it at about an estimate 76hr total time if I don't use power-save mode. That's worlds better than the 50hrs I got with my Band2.
Verdict: It's a great piece of hardware. But buy it only if you feel they'll get the software bugs ironed out and not just abandonware it. I haven't used the original GearFit, so I don't know if they kept working on that.
What I Hope They Add in Software:
+ User voice or feedback submit option.
+ Invert Rotate-On, for wearing it inside the wrist.
+ Weightlifting/Interval workout option on band.
+ Ability to configure power-save mode to automatically turn on. Right now it asks permission at around 10%. Maybe even allow the user to select what it does (ie: grayscale, dim screen, etc.)
+ Automatic goal scaling
+ Inactivity meter (a few bands have this, it's a nice feature).
+ Ability to temporarily go full brightness on screen with extra tap or click. I have mine set to 5, would love to be able to just double-tap it to boost it for when in daylight. I don't believe it has a light sensor.
I'd recommend buying it with a protection plan. I got mine for $175+$30 at BB for 2years no questions replacement. Only reason I did it is because these bands are often made to the cheapest pricing and prone to failure. In fact, I traded my MS Band 2 straight across for this (also paid $175+$30 for that) because I had gone through 4 of those in 6 months.
JUst got mine this morning...Super Comfortable, Display is Awesome...Notifications work great with my V10... I am hoping more apps get developed this time around.
I picked it up a week ago (release day, the 10th), but just returned it. I never return things, and I hated returning this.
My experiences:
GREAT:
-Easily the most comfortable fitting device I've ever had on my wrist, and with no clip, it doesn't scrape desks and laptop palm wrests, or is even noticeable as a lump on the wrist (complete opposite of my experience with my wife's Microsoft Band 2).
-Screen is incredible, indoors, and not bad outside
-Swipe navigation is smooth and responsive
-The display wake gesture was pretty solid and responsive
-The charger is awesome. Pulls device into place via magnet perfectly and works the same regardless of direction, the display shows time and charge, right side up both ways. Mount is stable and low-centered to sit on desk firmly, without being oversized or heavy. Charges extremely fast
-GPS was dead on each day of my 42 mile daily bike commute, in comparison to my Wahoo ELEMNT cycling computer's GPS
MEH-ISH:
-The notifications were good, but limited details which required I go to the phone often to know what it was about. I understand it's a band and not a full blown smartwatch, so not really complaining
-There wasn't much you could do with it as far as apps, but it's new and I'm sure that will change soon.
-The auto-sleep detection didn't work well for me. If I watched TV before bed, it would count it as sleep, and if I got up in the middle of the night to pee and let the dogs out, it would end the sleep session, sometimes ignoring me going back to bed, other times counting them as separate sleeps. If I went into S Health to manually edit it, it was extremely buggy, wouldn't save, would lose the data, ect. I gave up trying. Since there was no manual sleep start/stop like you can with exercise, you have to go with the auto-detect.
BATTERY:
I ran mostly default settings as far as alerts/notifications 24/7 heart rate, ect. My 42 mile daily commute (~2 hrs) I would manually start the cycling mode with GPS and heart rate (ebike, video of my commute) lol and from that, after 24 hours, it would be down to around half battery. Each morning I would have a cup of coffee at my desk and charge it (<20 minutes). I'm the kind of person that needs habits or I forget. So, even if the device lasted 5 days, I would prefer to stick it on the charger at the same time every day to top it off as a routine. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if it lasted a week, or a month+, if I need to travel, but as long as it easily lasts a day, I can be good with that, considering the fast charging. The Microsoft band 2 takes 1hr+ from my experience.
NOPE:
-The stopper, for me, was the locked down data for exercise. Heart rate data couldn't be viewed in the 1 second format anywhere but in a very basic graph on the S Health app and on the device. It doesn't even carry to Google Fit. Even though there's Strava sharing, export options, ect, it ONLY allows GPS and time stamp data out. Even in developer mode of the phone and app, I could only see the 24 hour heart rate samples, and random samples during the activity, nothing even close to the 1 second data, though better than the Microsoft Band's 1 minute heart rate data. Since my S7 doesn't have root, I gave up trying to get at the data.
DISCOVERY:
-Having bought it from Best Buy, I exchanged it for the Vivoactive hr. HOWEVER, after exchanging it, I noticed a Samsung rep in the store so I went to him to say how much I loved the Gear Fit 2, but I HAD to have access to the data, so returned it. He said something like: "Very soon there's a Tizen update coming that will open that data up via an API for the major fitness platforms, including Strava, who is already set up to receive that data once we update".
-Well, crap, wish I had known that before. The Vivoactive hr display is HORRIBLE, I have the brightness cranked and a custom, bold, white watch face to help me try and see it in dim areas. In the sun it's fine, because it reflects the light to see the numbers, but in the dark it's extremely hard for me to see. Also, the notifications are more like annoyifications because they keep re-notifying even after being dismissed, randomly.

My thoughts so far
From a hardware perspective, I am a big fan. I find it to be very comfortable, the screen is gorgeous, and the whole thing is very responsive. I would like more battery - I am only getting a day out of mine so far, but that does involve about an hour of GPS from my bike commute along with an abnormal amount of use, as it is a new toy.
From a software perspective, it still needs work. I have not had it autodetect my workouts yet, and GPS occasionally fails to pick up a signal. Notifications in general are spotty. I will get most text messages on my wrist, but I can't get any alarm clock program to work. My main interface issue is that it is rather common for a swipe to be picked up as a press, especially if I start the swipe on the screen as opposed to off of the edge. I'm not enamored with any of the available watch faces, and I would like an always on mode.
Personally, I have no issues with S Health, but my fitness tracking was very fragmented beforehand. My previous tracker was a Basis Peak, which was locked into its own bubble anyway. So far, I am still doing double tracking of workouts with Endomondo, but once I am satisfied that the GPS will be more consistent (or that automatic tracking will work), I will drop that.
All in all, I am happy, but would like to see a few updates.
Can someone compare it vs. Fit1 (I mean owners of both devices), I.e. notifications, factory apps...
I'm still getting 2.5-3 days of battery life after cycling through it 2x now. I have 8% left after 70 hours of being on with GPS enabled; you can read my OP for more details on that, but I'm happy with it so far.

That's fine with me; I also reviewed the original Gear Fit (I'm surprised the OP is still on the second page) if your curious to see how much it has changed. I managed to eek out 4 days of battery with the original if I recall correctly. I turned on power saving mode earlier today (about 5 hours ago) and it has really helped my battery last this last stretch before it dies. I just hit 72 hours (3 days) of solid usage and I still have 7% left thanks to power saving mode for the past few hours. I think anyone can manage 2-3 days of use if they follow the way I used the device, or any alternative that allows you to use the Gear Fit 2 without limiting it.

Yes, remember your review of gf1, now, as you've mentioned it..
I am using my third gf1 for 2 years now, tried some wear devices, sw3 was the closest to the level I wanted (although I am fan of Sony devices, damn, that thing was so ugly), fr230 was good from noon wear devices, but always coming back to gf1, and the simplicity and looks it had...
I will wait for few months to see how the development rolls out, and also whether will it be accessible in my country via official channels, but I am already pretty sure gf2 to be on my wrist eventually...

It is a huge improvement of the first generation GF even though I sold mine a while back. I read through my initial review of the GF, and wow has it changed! I tried a few Android Wear Watches. I'm enjoying the GF2 so far without any real issues which is a good sign. Let me know if you have any questions.
Anyone having an issue where the device is reporting a completely bogus batter percentage ?
My impression is that i seem to get full battery performance (24hrs+) but it slowly counts down and switches itself off no warning at about 75% (so 1/4 speed basically).
I have a unrooted Moto360 2nd Gen 42mm that was a second hand purchase (yes i know my fault if it's a dud!)
As an update to this, i took the watch fully charged off the cradle last night at 20:30, light use last night before taking off and leaving off the cradle over night. Put it back on this morning at 07:30 and at 10:30 it's reporting 92% left. Now i'd love it if that where the real case but when it gets to 75%ish it will switch off (and if i go into the long press fastboot menu it will show battery low).
Wear battery stats (pics attached) say i'm going to last for 10 days
Any ideas how to re-calibrate android wear to show a true percentage ?

Same here. Mine still lasts most of a day (whole day if Screen always on disabled), but goes from 96% to dead.
The whole battery is between 100%-96%, so basically a useless battery gauge.

Same issue here. It started about 2 weeks ago.. at that time it was shutting off at ~78%.
Factory Reset didnt help, now it shuts off at ~96%. Watch has been off charger for 4.5 hours with screen always on, and its still at 100%
Hope this is a software issue that can be fixed

It may be too early to tell, but my watch appears to have magically fixed itself last night. It died at the usual 96%, but I noticed after it was on the charger for ~1 hour it was now showing 24% (which I haven't seen in a couple weeks). The watch is now showing 1.2% drop/hr instead of 10 days expected uptime.
My uneducated guess/hope is that the email I submitted to Moto resulted in them pushing a fix to my device - this would at least give hope to others experiencing the issue. I still have not gotten a response from Moto, but will update if it has anything useful...
Have you had a chance to see if it is better. I do find it hard to believe though that they could push something down to the watch without an update.

I contacted amazon and described the problem. They instantly offered me a full refund. I bought a Huawei classic watch 1. I'm pretty pleased as I enjoyed a lot of use with the Moto and now have a brand new watch with full 2 year guarantee as well.

Exact same thing happened to me. My watch has been shutting down at about 72% for the past two weeks. Neither a full charge/discharge nor a factory reset helped.
So I just contacted amazon (I still have one week of the EU-required two year warranty/guarantee left) and they immediately offered me a full refund.
I have the same problem on my watch (I bought it on 03/29/2016 on Amazon) for some weeks. I suppose that my watch can't be refound by amazon ?

Depends on where you are from. In the EU, you always have a two year warranty/guarantee. In the US it's different I think, most of the time one year.
But you can always try contacting support. In my experience Amazon is very obliging.

Not sure if it's software or others cause the issue...
at least there had no any issues after i got AW 2.0 on April this year; util September, battery percentage issue suddenly appeared....during the time I didn't do any updates....
I just tried an update popped up on last Sunday, still same issue...
nah, I used it for almost 2 years..no warranty repair for sure...
sad for long term support on this product....maybe because moto is not moto anymore....

I set my phone to the max resolution and framerate, and I also keep it in the silicone bumper they shipped.
Did you guys ever see this happen too?
P.s. it wasn't charging.

No issues here, in fact I've been impressed with how cool it stays. Hammered some benchmarks and it barely went over 45c
This is obviously just sat idling now but I've been using the phone for over an hour on max resolution, 90hz and no power saving.
I faced the same in two instances. One, when I was transferring files through Xender. Second, when my Google Photos were syncing with cloud.
Received the same notification as well. The phone was untouchably hot and battery drained a lot faster.
My assumption is whenever there's a big load of data transfer, the phone turns unbearably hot.
I really don't know why you're experiencing this, I have barely put my phone down today and it's been ambient temperature at best including when playing COD. I've got a fair sized file transfer going here and temperatures are absolutely fine
I should also point out before my first screenshot at 10am I had 17 hours standby. I've used my phone on and off all day for web browsing, music and some gaming and in the second screenshot 10 hours later I still have 30% battery remaining and it's not once gotten hot at all. Running 10.0.3 since yesterday afternoon.

Great to know that, I have no clue why we are facing this then. I was hoping it will get better with the future software updates.
Also, there's so much less to read about OnePlus 7T Pro compared to OnePlus 7 Pro. Seems a lot of people did not go for it hence the development is really less, I hope it catches up soon. Waited for so long to get a OnePlus device.
I am facing the same issue, sometimes I'll be doing literally nothing but messaging and the phone will become uncomfortably warm like in the 60's - 70°c also my battery life is quite lower than expected around 4 hours SOT I'm going to try a factory reset and hope for the best
Having exactly the same issue, brand new unit. Delivered today, CPU temps reaching 85 Celsius ! (updated to latest Android 10, not charging, not playing games or doing any intense tasks).
I own a OP6 and OP2 and never felt such uncomfortable heat while holding the phone, hoping its just a deficient unit and not a general problem with the OP7T Pro.

Google hasn't had the best track record with their previous Pixels. They've all seemed to have at least one hardware issue. The Pixel 5s have overheating problems for example. Just wondering if anyone has run into any issues?

My 6 got hot during the initial setup, but once I turned off the 5G it cooled off a bit and I stayed on Wi-Fi.
Only a bit of warmth during initial setup, nothing that concerned me much.

I am having the same exact issue. I went to the store and they told me that they will send the phone for assessment and will take a month. Ridiculous

Video recording literally stopped after 7 min of 4k 60fps because the phone got too hot.
I got a message telling me to wait until the phone cools down. The screenshot of this message didn't even save..
My pixel 6 pro is getting hot during normal use too. Guess they need to update.
Yes it is getting extremely hot only by using insta, facebook, TikTok. No games installed. Left side of the phone starts getting warm then screen and back.

My phone was overheating and battery drain a lot but since i put 4G on prefered nerwork, battery isn't draining anymore and don't heat no more.
Usefull or useless ?
My Pixel 6 Pro overheats recording 4K 60 and stops after 10-12min. Room temp 25c with no case.
I tried 4K 30 with the same results.
1080p 30 on the other hand can keep on going indefinitely I think. I got a message at 28min that the phone is getting hot, but it didn't stop the recording. Around 40min it reached thermal saturation and was fluctuating between 43c and 44.4c. I stopped it at 48:49min.
I think the new camera sensor overheats before the SoC and stops the recording.
my pixel 6 is overheating on a daily use. battery tab in setting telling me Instagram is sucking the battery, so I guess it's because of Instagram.
pixel 5 performed much better, to be honest. the battery also doesn't last that long. it's kinda disappointing. i thought it could be because my initial install somehow went wrong, so i am actually right now backing all up to do a factory reset. i will give this a try. if this will still drain my battery and overheating the phone I will go back to my pixel 5. glad I didn't sell it that fast
My pixel 6 is overheating on 4G/5G and battery drains fast. Browsing YT, video freeze and hangs. Same scenario, but connected to wireless network, getting +8h SOT, no freeze, no heat.
Just so everyone understands.
The P6 back cover plate is a heat sink.
The back plate is lined with copper to pull heat away from the electronics.
So with this in mind, the back plate can get hot while charging or heavy use.

pixel 5 performed much better, to be honest. the battery also doesn't last that long. it's kinda disappointing. i thought it could be because my initial install somehow went wrong, so i am actually right now backing all up to do a factory reset. Yeah, this has been surprising to me. So either Google is sending an altered version or reviewers don't use the phone that much and just make the video. Literally everyone I know who got the pixel 6/pro can feel the heat within few hours

I'm kinda glad to hear I'm not the only one, but it's pretty disappointing.
I now factory reset my phone without transferring old data from my old phone, just used backup'ed data from google one.
I need to test that out. definitely changing the preferred network type from 5G to LTE helped a bit. but battery performance still seems to be horrible bad in comparison to the Pixel 5.
it seems like you can not rely on youtube reviews for smartphones nowadays :/ looking at you Marques
I do run my phones with a case so sometimes hard to tell. Only time I experience warmth is running a couple mobile games, but they did this on my Pixel 5 as well. No extreme overheating or extreme battery draining experienced.
