ZV? - Sprint LG G3

There seems to be another new update for the LS990 either on all of them or just on Boost Mobile, i have no idea if it's still Lollipop or if it's Marshmallow let alone if it's rootable I'm currently on ZVF rooted and got the update notification saying that it's 69.9 MB in size has anyone updated to it? what is it? ZV? any ideas?

its zvg, its still 5.0.1 android version. Not sure what changed.

why do they keep releasing updates if it's not even going to be marshmallow or nougat

Did it get rid of the Sprint ID error with ZVF?

[Q] are the OTA C6806 GPe updates still possible

Hi,
I recently got a new Z Ultra GPe as a replacement to my old one. I had OS version 5.0.1 before but the replacement I received is 4.4 and tells me that my phone is up to date. I expected I would get updates but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know if the OTA updates are still around and if I should be getting them by the normal method (rather then having to manually sideload)? For my needs I'm ok with a the non-rooted stock experience so I don't really want to deviate from that (and I don't really want to void my warranty as I have had to rely on that already). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I looks like the OTA was pulled (well no longer being pushed) just before Christmas. The 5.0.1 is a little buggy so I would stay on 4.4.4.
Also note that there is no safe way to revert to 4.4.x from 5.0.x unless you root on 4.4.4 and back up the TA.

Thanks, but I have 4.4 and not 4.4.4. Version 4.4 is super buggy and basically not usable. 5.0.1 was very usable in my opinion. If I can get from 4.4 to 4.4.4 that would be a great place to start. If I remember correctly there were three updates to get from 4.4 to 4.4.4.
If the OTAs are pulled, then why are phones with 4.4 being released into the users hands? I'll have to talk to google support about this. Is anyone else in the same boat I am?
Is only the 4.4.2 OTA not being pushed, or are all Z Ultra GPe updates not being pushed?
Thanks.

I'm not sure what ones aren't being pushed any more, but they were all still being pushed just before christmass. You could put 4.4.2 on a SD card and flash that from recovery and see if the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 OTAs arrive, if not they are archived in the GPe section and I have copies here as well.
Either way I would root 4.4.4 and do a TA backup, it will give you many more options if you ever need to roll back for any reason.
Bugs of note on 5 are:
memory leak
some wifi issues for some users
I have micro hangs (may well be from the memory leak)
OK. Thanks. I am going to do the process here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761698 (different method but same result) to get to 4.4.2 and see what happens.

[Q] Most stable OTA firmware with root and hotspot coming from 10B

Got the vzw g3 on release day and went ahead and blocked all updates. It's rooted with the hotspot apk swapped out for one that bypasses the provisioning check and also have adaway installed. It has been a great phone for the past 10 months but has recently gotten a bit buggy and want to update it to a newer firmware. I am currently still on 10B. Id like to poll you guys and see what you think will be the most stable/smooth firmware that will still allow root and hotspot. I dont currently have custom recovery on the phone but updates that break the ability could sway me one way or the other. Another option could be to backup and reflash 10B but im assuming over 10 months there have been improvements made to get rid of bugs from the initial release.
Thanks
Either stock LG Lollipop 23B, or JasmineROM or SkyDragon. Lollipop is so smooth on the G3. The hotspot mod has been updated for this release.

Rooted Stock? What version is after ZV8?

My son's G3 is running stock rooted 5.0.1 ,Software version LS990ZV8. His phone is saying he needs an update. Is there a rooted stock update available?
I saw this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/development/stockzvalodexed-t3143674 but I wasnt sure it was right
That's the new OTA he is getting on his phone. That link is the right update you want.
Thanks. I was thrown off when I saw the SD card fix

How do I prep for Marshmallow?

I am on stock rooted Android 5.0.1, 24B, Lollipop, and have bumped TWRP 2.8.7.0 I know that Andoroid 6.0 is supposed to be headed for the LG G3 in the next few months. I also, know that Verizon is painfully slow to update their phones. I wonder what the best upgrade path might be, for me? 1.) Wait for Verizon OTA, remove root and TWRP and then take the OTA? 2.)Wait for someone to build a rooted stock 6.0 ROM for the Verizon phone, VS985? Any ideas how I can get set, ahead of time, to be in the best position to move to 6.0?

first and foremost lol, if you see official M for this device before say feb/mar next year, you will be lucky. likely longer.
any rumors to the contrary are plain wrong, i mean this is verizon were talking about lol
at this point we dont know yet when the nexus line is getting the final official. could be next week, could be next month.
verizon cant even start to build the ota until official is released.
1. you never want to take an ota before verifying what they did and didnt break, like root and rollback ability.
so, i would wait for the ota, asses the above, then decide which way to proceed.
2. there is really no way to say which direction is best, until a dev gets a look at the files from the update.
A. nothing you can do ahead of time, and honestly, likely 6mos or more away, i wouldnt even worry about it.

I agree with @bweN diorD. I would generally go with "2.)Wait for someone to build a rooted stock 6.0 ROM for the Verizon phone, VS985?", in which case you don't have to do anything at all, just wait for it to be available. If for whatever reason that never happens, then I'd go with waiting for the KDZ to be made available (could be days or weeks after the OTA, was only days IIRC for 24B), then flash it using LG Flash Tools 2014, although then you wouldn't be rooted and you might not be able to root it, but you'd be running it until/if someone does release a rooted version or a new root method, if possible.

Verizon v10 marshmallow

Is starting to roll out tomorrow allegedly
Verizon updates LG V10 support page with Marshmallow details, rollout should begin shortly
http://phandroid.com/2016/03/23/lg-v10-android-60-marshmallow-release-date/
Congrats to Verizon. First out of the shoot. Come on T-Mobile, don't be last...
My Verizon V10 just started to try and download a software update. 988.1 MB. I'm assuming this is the marshmallow update.
I'm not near WiFi right now so it's not downloading but trying to. Waiting to see how this affects root. OTA usually breaks root.
Edit: Just checked software update tab and can confirm this is marshmallow 6.0 update. I clicked no thanks and it canceled download. I'm sure it will be bugging me again soon.
