Good Morning.
I would like to know how to identify if a file is actually the update OTA version that was made available and extracted from a Moto Z.
It turns out that I found a possible update file for Androd 7 of Moto Z but I'm afraid it's a fake file.

Hello everyone, I'm kind of new here so I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong thread or something... so anyways,
Motorola has released KitKat 4.4.2 update for Motorola RAZR D3 (and also for RAZR D1 but I'm not specifically talking about that device) and only about 4 people has received the update. We've been waiting for one year and a half to get this update and Motorola says they're releasing it "through blocks" (which means they're going to release it for everyone in like 2 years now lol). So the only ones who received the update are XT920 devices (which are the double SIM versions).
We want to extract the KitKat ROM from those devices who already updated and so we could install it in our devices. In our community, we've tried so many apps, so many ways to extract it but we can't. One of the Kitkat users did a backup which is name userdata_*****(numbers)_*****(numbers).backup. We've tried to extract that +600mb file so we could get those .img files to flash our devices. We couldn't. There's no way found to extract a .backup file. We don't either know if that's gonna work though.
So, could anybody help us? We have been waiting for so long for this update. Or at least we wanted to extract the retail he's got, because ours won't receive the update.
What could we do?
Phone model: Motorola RAZR D3 - XT919/XT920
Retail Brazil.
Locked Bootloader.
MediaTek MTK6577
If you need another info. I'll try my best to get it.
PS: I'm not the one who received the update. The one who did is a member of a community on Facebook.
We really need help. Thank you so much.
By the way, this user got to root the device on KitKat 4.4.2 through KingsRoot

This is a kernel source package from marshmallow 6.0.
You can see this from the archive number. 32 is our Z5 series and 2 means it's marshmallow. 0 was internal, 1 was lollipop and 2 is marshamllow.
It is now live for "Telenor Mobil NO" on Z5 Compact (E5823)

I have Moto z running on Android 7. Attached screenshot shot any have the idea how to update to 7.1 or 7.1.1 only official update from which link. Thanks in advance
There are many ways, and all can be found in this forum.
You can upgrade with OTAs, or go with the full firmware as well.
Still looking nothing found for my 1650-05 Moto z dual SIM
Hi,
My wife has a Cricket XT1021 Moto E (sim unlocked/Bootloader UNLOCKABLE). She recently got a new car and would like to connect with Android Auto, but her phone is Kit Kat 4.4.4 and the app only runs on lollipop or higher. She is not interested in upgrading the phone because she likes the size of the Moto E. All the new phones are too large for her liking...even the 5 inch models.
The next option is to upgrade to Lollipop but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it. Checking for updates on the phone (with data & wi-fi) says it has the latest firmware, which I know is not true. I have downloaded the Cricket 5.1 zips from here, but am not sure of the differences between version LPC23 and version LPCS23. I have found instruction to upgrade to the Soak test here:
www. droid views .com/install-android-5-0-2-lollipop-ota-zip-moto-e (remove spaces for link)
Can I just follow those same instructions and simply replace the soak test zip with one of the versions I downloaded? I am fairly confident that will work I am just not clear which zip to use.
I appreciate your advice. I have rooted and flashed all my phones, but hers...I cannot screw up for obvious reasons.
I have an OPPO smartphone which I want to make changes i.e. rooting, upgrading to Android Pie but OPPO is not developer friendly( I regret buying it)?.. Fortunately, OPPO has stock rom downloadable from their site. Unfortunately though, the version of the rom that is downloadable from their site is far behind the current version of my phone. What I am planning to do is, when a new update is available, download it and patch it myself so It will be accepted during upgrading from recovery. My question is, is it possible? the stock rom comes in ozip file but I am able to edit its contents using zarchiver. I hope anyone can help. Thank You
An update.zip ( AKA OTA ) must contain an updater script, too, what is parsed and processed by Revovery function. In current case it would be your task to create it.
