I've been working on this problem off and on since the summer and have read through pretty much everything I can find (some similar posts with no resolution). After about 6 months of using a Galaxy S6, I want my Xperia back.
Long story short, I replaced the screen on my Xperia Z3V a while back. I'd already paid Sony for one screen on this phone and didn't want to do it again (wish I did). After I replaced the screen, the phone worked fine except I no longer had "proper" cell/4G signal. When I say "proper," the signal randomly appears (4 bars/-87dBm) and randomly disappears (-120dBm). I can't find any pattern to this. In some places with very good signal such as the Verizon store, the phone will try to activate but will fail to make calls or receive texts after.
List of what I've tried so far:
- factory reset
- new SIM from Verizon
- new antenna cable (blue coax cable, clips into side of phone)
- new antenna
The part that really confuses me is that disconnecting the blue coax cable has no effect. I.e., if I disconnect the cable while the phone claims to have signal, nothing changes. My assumption is that signal would instantly drop.
Is there anything worth trying before writing the phone off?
Possibly related... There is a white putty along the bottom of the battery that turns into a flat white cable which runs up the length of the battery to the WiFi antenna. Can anyone tell me what this might be? I can't find pictures describing this phone anywhere.

I have a Z3 and the blue coax cable is the one for signal, in this case it seems either it is broken or something along those lines, as I have the same problem in my z3 but I know why because I had broken the coax connector so the signal issue. Try checking the antenna at the bottom or the connector on the motherboard itself

That's true. You probably damaged the coax connector on either the motherboard or the loud speaker side. The proper procedure for removing the blue cable is holding down the socket with one tool and removing the cable with another. And best is to remove the speaker module without touching the cables...
Hmm... I did not realize the coax cable was quite that fragile. Lesson learned. It seems impossible to find brand new replacements for this particular phone, I wonder if Z2 or Z3 parts would fit.
The old iPhones I've successfully replaced screens on seem like toys next to the Sony...

I think it is for attaching a stylus.You just loop the thread through it and close the cover.
It's meant for a wristband. You can buy the accessory, loop it through that hole, and then close the back cover (so it never falls off).
Are you sure about it...?

the wristband/small things you put on your phone like small dolls is the yellow square
this one is something different.
It its a connector for an external gsm antenna. However be warned, do not plug any thing in to it as others have reported this will disable the internal antenna and you will not get a signal afterwards without a visit to a service centre or some soldering.

I've seen that type of connector on other phone's in the past. I always thought it was for an external antenna. I'm not sure though.

So my tablet stopped charging yesterday. I know a lot of people are having issues with their wall charger, but I think my problem is due to the 40 pin connector. It looks like two or three of the pins got bent (not sure how). Every time I plug it in, it has a light crunching feeling. The wire to tablet connection is not sturdy at all and tends to bend downwards due to a lack of support in the tablet. Asus is sending me info on how to return the device. The tablet has been amazing other than this poor design. Anyone else having this issue?

Mine wouldn't charge/transfer data but that's because the connector fell apart. Not sure how your pins managed to get bent, but it should be easily rectified via RMA. Until you get your new charger you could probably snag an OG TF charger and use that. However, I would also check the socket on the Prime itself, see if there is anything "odd?" going on in there that could have bent the pins (and possibly do it again once you get another charger).
same problem here- I started another thread. the tablet will no longer charge. It was intermittent at first. sometimes it would stop charging without ever removing the charger or 40 pin connector from the device.
I don't know if it is just a bad charger/cable , or if there is something wrong internally on the tablet. I will be shipping mine back for full refund from where i purchased, unless there is something else to try?
I have a second hand Galaxy S2 which was unlocked to all networks and randomly the phone would connect to driving mode. I used GoLauncher EX to delete Voice control but then it started showing that it was charging constantly. After a lot of research I found the problem was in the charging port.
I ordered a new charging port online and I've put it in instead of the old one and now the charging problem is gone, but now my phone gets no service on a Three UK sim, I'm quite sure it wasn't on Three UK to begin with.
Is it possible that changing the charging port might have locked the phone to the original carrier again?
and is there anyway to unlock it(without root) or get it working again a different way?

Take a look at the antenna wire sometime you touched it and it's not connected properly
Yeah I have seen a lot of people lose signal who replace that port. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the antenna. Make sure you have knocked it by mistake

I experienced the same problem with my Samsung S2. I had destroyed the charging port by being careless when charging it which meant my phone would not charge at all; although if I was lucky I would get about 10% charge every day.
To resolve the problem, I bought a cheap charging port flex cable off ebay for about £4.00 which I thought was a bargin. After taking the phone apart (with help from a YouTube video) I replaced the port, turned the phone on and it charged perfectly. Then all of a sudden I lost all signal. I moved around the house, hoping to get the slightest bit of signal but no, nothing. I did a lot of research online as to why this has happened and everyone said it was to do with the antenna cable that runs along the left hand side of the phone so my immediate thought was to buy a new one. I did a factory reset to see if that helped but it did not. As I was desperate, the following day I went into town to see if I could find a shop that sold an antenna wire. I went in shop after shop but nowhere sold what I was looking for. I went into a shop and described my problem to the man behind the counter, and he knew exactly what was wrong. On the flex cable there is "REV" followed by a number, and he told me that if the replacement number is not the same as the original then the phone will have no service.
In the photos you will see my original cable that was "REV2.3" and my replacement cable that was "REV2.2".
Long story short... when replacing the charging port make sure the replacement flex cable has the same REV number as the original otherwise you will have no service. Your problem is not related to the antenna wire.

Have a galaxy tab 10.1 and the screen started getting screwed up. It's mainly used by my son for YouTube kids so it does get some abuse. The screen would streak and some of the colors would reverse, i.e. the menu bar would become white instead of black. Not negative but just odd color changes and streaks of color through the screen.
At first I found it would fix after slightly twisting the device. Then it wouldn't resolve itself at all so based on the idea it was probably a loose connection and some research suggesting the ribbon cable as a common failure I opened it up. After wiggling the ribbon cable I noticed it resolved the issue. I removed and reset the cable and it was fixed.
Now again today the tablet got dropped and went white. I was able to resolve it by twisting for a little then as before it wouldn't resolve. I opened it up and reset for a moment before going white again.
I can't get it to resolve at all now, and it's not seeming to light up either but the ribbon cable would cause both.
The ribbon cable takes a u-turn and inserts into the one slot. It seemed like when I manipulated the bend the problem would come and go. I couldn't be sure if it was the cable or connection but am wondering if anyone has seen a similar problem or issues with the cables or connections that are the same?
Thinking I'd change the ribbon cable and hope it works before delving deeper.

I have a G5 as my backup phone. Recently, I've replaced the fingerprint scanner (it stopped working as a button, no cleaning would help, so I've bought new part online and replaced it), and after that I have no signal (-1dbm 99asu). Not even an alarm call is possible.
From my research, the antenna module is the bottom slice of the phone, you attach the battery to (one with mic, USB-C and bottom speaker)? I have both original bottom part and a Cam+, no signal on either of them. Where else should I look for any damage, that would lead to my problem - no signal at all?
I have a similar problem. The signal is very low everywhere, I tried to clean all the contacts between the bottom part and the phone, and nothing changed.
Me too i have a problem with the signal since display change. How can i get it fix. The phone has very low signal and it has network only on 3g on LTE it hasnt any network and 2g signal doesnt have.

Well, the pcb or mainboard has a small flex type antena on the back of it, it's black and has some lettering on it and it connects using coaxial type push connectors, also the phone connects to the aluminum case via some exposed pins on the mainboard, the case acts as an antenna also, if you need pictures I can take some tomorrow, I work in a cellphone shop and I fix an LG g5 almost every day, we have some main boards laying around, you most likely bent one of the pins that connects to the case
nah i got the same problem here after disassemble the phone. I already clean all things that contacted with the backdoor or with mainboard but the problem still there. Only got 0-1 bar of 4g even it near the tower until it change to 3g with the same condition. but the 2g signal is always full bar.

so is it located on the mainboard or part of screen? could you take some picture of it :crying:
