So, i have this one tab which is rebooting all the time. It starts ok but after like 10 sec it freezes and reboots. And it does that again and again. Tried to reset it from recovery but it doesn't clear the device. It said that reset succeeded but nothing is wiped.
Then i tried to flash it with odin but it gives an error every time. Tried even with all 4 files and it flash it if don't pic any bootloader file to flash but it still doesn't get wiped. So is it somehow corrupted that bootloader area or smth?
Any suggestions? Or is it just gone.
Really, no help at all?? Is that bootloader damaged?
Or is bootloader locked somehow??
I have the same problem too, any body know the solution!!
It would be great to know it!
Many tahnks

the weirdest thing started happening today. i was using my phone as normal this morning (i had soft reset 1 or 2 times earlier) and all of the sudden when i soft reset on psShutXP, it took me into bootloader. odd, but nothing an old exit_BL couldnt fix. well it wouldnt send the commands, but i found out later that once i connect the USB to my computer and it beeps, i can soft reset out of BL. but now its happening EVERY time i soft reset, even running Sprite Backup, when it soft resets, it puts itself into BL. i was running DCD 3.2.2 and i reflashed a clean ROM (and also 3.2.3) and the problem is still arising. im thinking its hardware, but i havent dropped it or got it wet. any ideas?
alright so now im completely stuck in bootloader, it wont even do anything. i left the battery out last night and it booted fine this morning. however as soon as it reset after UC (it hard reset itself) it went back into bootloader. i was trying to load the stock radio/rom so i can just take it in but it wont connect to activesync at the tap to begin. i need some serious help.
have you tried a hard reset from bootloader? you were a little confusing in your posts. what exactly are you doing from boot time to ending in BL? are you able to reflash, then after UC you get stuck in bootloader? are you doing a full restore with Sprite Backup? can you clarify exactly what is going on, step by step?
it wont hard reset in bootloader. it just refreshs the screen. well since i am in bootloader, yes, i can flash. i flashed and after it boots and runs UC and loads the programs, it soft resets and goes into bootloader. the only way i can get out of bootloader is to plug in the USB, wait a minute, then soft reset. if i soft reset (either manually, Sprite, or psShutXP) it goes into bootloader. im not 'stuck' in bootloader because i can get out, and exitBL still does nothing. ive been trying to brick it but nothing is working.
have you tried flashing and booting with your SD card removed so UC doesnt run?

yep, and cooked a clean ROM with UC unchecked. ive never seen anything like this, its bizarre.
so even with UC off, no SD card, after reflashing if you soft reset it loads BL?

yes. im pretty much at a dead end for ideas.
have you tried reflashing bootloader itself? or a different version?
nope, trying it now.
let me know..
nope still doesnt do anything. still soft resets into bootloader.
damn. thats weird. have you tried relocking it?

i cant; it wont connect to activesync even on the today screen or anywhere. but the computer does beep so i know its connected.
get back to the point where you can boot to the today screen and turn 'advanced network functionality' off before you connect to activesync.
edit: nevermind, its not doing anything. im at the today screen. it started connecting but nothing happened.
alright thank you i got it back to stock but im going on a surfing trip til sunday so ill see what i cant do when i get back. thanks a ton

what did you end up doing?
i took out the battery for 10 minutes and it booted up, and after being USB connected to the computer for another 10 minutes, activesync started. i flashed the stock radio/ROM and relocked to the 1.06 bootloader because i cant find the stock 1.04. anyone know if its possible to flash the 1.04 bootloader?
im thinking i could just play dumb when they ask about it. Something along the lines of, "Ohh, thats just how it came. Flash? Whats a ROM? Bootloader? HUH?"
There is no 1.04 bootloader. It comes stock with the phone. Having 1.06 on there will be fine trust me.
Hello people,
I am wokring on an international verson of Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 of a friend of mine.
His devise freezed at the Galaxy S 3 logo at the beginning and couldn't go any forward.
He took it to a guy that repairs phones and he told him that it's a hardware problame and needs 150 euro to fix it.
So i asked him if he wants me to give a try and see if it's not a hardware problem.
Anyway i will give you as many details as possible to tell me what you think.
As i said before its GT-I9300, no root, unbranded, but i am not sure about the firmware. Most probably it's at 4.3. No SD card.
The phone starts only until the Galaxy S 3 logo and freezes there.
When i press the power button the phone shuts off but then immediately reboots by itself but again freezes at the Galaxy logo.
I do have access to both recovery and download mode so i believed that i could do something but unfortunately so far nothing.
I have tried to do factory reset but during the process it reboots. I wiped succesfully the dalvic cache and the battery stats but i cannot do factory reset.
I also tried through Kies to do emergency recovery but again during the process it tells me that there is an error with the phone and couldn't go forward.
Then i tried with Odin to root the phone. I have found the correct PDA file (i think) and again started the process but i got FAIL.
Then i tried with custom roms. I have put 2-3 custom roms that i had on my pc. I trasfered them on an external SD card and tried to install them through Recovery mode. The process starts ok and allows me select the options of the installation but at the point where it tries to wipe the data it stops and automatically reboots.
I have tried to install the custom rom without full wipe but again it stops and reboots.
I browsed in a lot of sites but i haven't found anything else so far that could save this phone.
So i open to any suggestions you may have.
Is it really hardware issue?
It's strange though because the phone starts up to a point and i have access on both recovery and download mode.
Thank you very much in advance.
it seems hardware problem....
I have an i9205 that I am trying to fix for somebody. The phone was acting weird so he rebooted it and did a battery pull. After doing so the phone would just sit on the samsung boot screen. I could boot into download mode, but if you went into recovery mode it just said installing update. It would get to 100% restart and then just sit on the samsung logo. Everytime you booted into recovery it would do this. I downloaded kies and tried to reflash the phone. during the flash an error popped up and said to retry in emergency mode. That also failed and phone said "sw rev check fail fused 1 binary 0" on the screen. I am thinking now the only option is probably to flash with odin, but was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. thank you
After flashing a lot of samsung phone, I think the best way to reflash is Odin. Try to download the firmware you want and flash it with Odin. And then, reboot. This always save my phones.
For your recovery, have you tried to update your phone with OTA ? The download may be incomplete and make a soft brick.
Sorry for bad english I'm french.
Thanks for the reply. ya thats what I am going to try. There are a ton firmwares based on country and I am trying to figure out which one I need. It is not my phone so I am not sure if he tried to do an ota, but I think thats probably what happened. Tried to do an ota, phone ran poorly, hard rebooted, and finally resulted in a softbrick. I think that may be why the recovery boot keeps saying installing update as well. Also your English was not bad at all.
Great, let me know if that solution solve your problem.
If it don't, it should not but it's possible, try with pit file (never had to use it so it's really in case it don't work correctly).
Hello,
It is not my first time for rooting and custom rom using however this time i guess i did something wrong or missed something but i couldn't have figured what it is so far. So i need a little help.
At first, i downloaded "vcoreroot-v2.tar" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355680 and flashed via Odin. When i tried to open the phone i could here the opening sound but with a black screen. So i kept searching and tried the file from CF-Autoroot. There was no change.
Later on, i installed TWRP and wiped and formated everything. After that i installed a custom rom. Now what i have now is again during opening i can here opening music but this time together with Samsung logo.
Regarding this problem, what i understand from my searches on internet, this is a Boot-Loop / softbrick. To solve this problem i tried everything i read but still no luck (wipe data, cache, factory reset etc).
I am not actually sure if it is a loop since my phone does not keep closing and opening. It is not a loop, it is stucked instead.
Anyone has an idea?
Thanks in advance.
Long story short, stock phone just randomly blew up and I'm trying to re-install its stock Android OS. Phone has never been rooted before, it just started to reboot on its own and now I'm in a position where I can only access download mode.
I'm in Odin, with what I believe is the correct firmware for my device (SM-N950U1) and I just keep getting a "Secure Check Fail: system" when trying to flash. it via Odin. The Odin log says "FAIL! (auth) right after trying to write system.img.ext4 for a few minutes. The "Secure Check Fail: system" is the printout on the phone screen itself.
Any clues?

I see that you have not received an answer. That is upsetting. I am also struggling with this exact same issue on a g955u1. Have not found a solution. Did you end up solving your problem? If so, what did you have to do?

Nope, I have not solved the problem. I've scoured the internet and other people asking the problem all have not had any answers either. My assumption is that the actual internal memory of the phone is corrupted and won't let me write past a certain point, or on certain sectors, or something and its not actually fixable via software. I think everyone else just stops at this point and its never resolved because there is no resolution hah.
Good luck, let me know if you ever figure it out...

This phone I am working on is for a customer of mine. Thankfully, they have given me an open ended time frame. I have been working on this for about a week trying to figure out whats going on.
The memory corruption thing you were talking about resonates with me, because prior to my customer bringing this in, they had attempted a couple factory resets trying to resolve the original issue which was all the system apps crashing. The phone would reboot like someone killed all the processes. Pretty much from the moment it reached the home screen, and it was not power related. The problem persisted after their factory resets within recovery mode. And then I hit the phone with Odin and ended up with a partial flash. Soft bricking the phone.
You saying that kinda reinforces what I was already thinking, that it might be a hardware issue. Im not sure.
5 minutes ago I was able to get odin to successfully flash BL, CP, and CSC. It even brought me back to the Samsung logo for a minute but hung there. That's the most success I have had with this thing. Ive flashed numerous firmwares and every single one of them fails on system.img.ext4. After it reboots, it boots directly into this altered version of download mode with an emergency recovery error.
I have flashed dozens of phones before without issue. This is the first time I have ever experienced this one. You could be right but I refuse to accept defeat in this case lol so im gonna keep trying and ill report back if I have success.

Man, that sounds very very familiar to mine. I don't know if you found my other threads where I was asking for help, but I woke up with a phone that wouldn't turn on. Finally found the key button combo to get it to soft reboot, then it would turn on and just crash in the middle of using it after anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. If i started to use the phone heavily it would just shut off instantly and reboot back up on its own.
After clearing the boot cache, then doing a factory reset, it finally just stopped turning on at all (just samsung boot logo loop)
So I hit it with odin, unsuccessfully for 2-3 days, and then out of nowhere it just finally took a successful flash. However, it still just bootlooped, so I did a factory reset again and it put it back to being toast.
Since then, not a single successful complete flash from odin. I too can do the BL, CSC and CP files but I can't flash the AP file as it is writing the most data and finally fails about 3-4 minutes into to writing the system image file.
Again...good luck, ha!
