Help, H850 bricked - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I tried to install a custom firmware on my phone, and now, my phone is locked in "Firmware Update" screen (same as when you press volume + when phone boots). I used LGUP tool to flash stock firmware, but with 6.0.1 shows an error [Error code=0x(2 numbers and 1 letter)]. And with 7.0 LGUP crashes. Any way to fix this?
PD: Cannot go to TWRP recovery
PD2: Only can go to fastboot

allright, gonna try and help you.
1st, Is your bootloader unlocked? If so
try to flash twrp 3.0.2.1 in fastboot. Then boot in twrp by holding volume down and power button.
If you get into twrp you probably can flash a rom.

-Yes, bootloader is unlocked, and I can lock and unlock it via fastboot if I want.
-I can't go to TWRP, there is another custom recovery?

the problem is not enter into recovery.
the first time i have flash wrong twrp. when i enter in recovery, by hardware procedure, in the bottom of screen i read version of twrp.. and is version twrp 3.0.0r2. this is a wrong version!
then.. i do flash from pc, flash operation success.. and ONLY with command "fastboot boot XXXXX.img" , where xxxx.img is name of recovery i have flash before, i can enter in correct twrp.
i don't know why, but i think i can't flash and fix the correct version of twrp. bhooooooooooo!
edit:
problem solved..
i have rename twrp img file in "recovery.img" and i have flash it in fastboot mode by pc..
i have try to enter in recovery with adbo command (adb reboot recovery) and phone reboot in correct twrp version;
then i have try to enter in recovery with hardware procedure (poweroff, volume up + power and release power when appear Mi logo, tap on "recovery") and it work;
and, in the end, i have try to nter in recovery mode by app "updater"
all works perfectly now!

Hi,, i've successfully unlocked my redmi 3 bootloader, and now there's root permission option in security app. I tapped it and confirmation prompt to get root acces appear, i click ok, then my device download something (my assume its root file), and reboot by it self after. Now i have rooted redmi 3 with unlocked bootloader but no superSU installed.
I want to install twrp recovery which is official now for redmi 3, i've read about dm-verity thing in our redmi 3 and still confused about it.
Can i just install twrp recovery thru twrp manager app from play store? If yes, can i go into twrp recovery via updater app.?
Thanks in advance.
you can install twrp by fastboot!
and then yes, you can enter in twrp by updater app

Congratulations you just followed the official method of getting root access successfully, root access is not from SuperSU but from MIUI itself, it's in the Security app.
You can, but the phone won't boot anymore then, because of the dm-verity thingy. So in another word, you have to disable it by flashing a modified boot image, I'm not sure but some custom ROM might have come with the modified image already, but MIUI ROM definitely doesn't, it is certain you'd get a boot loop after flashed TWRP and try to boot into Android again. That's the simple explanation. And yes you can go to TWRP from updater app, it's the same thing as writing 'reboot recovery'.

TWRP flash succesful, but no recovery boot.

Hi All,
I have an Redmi 3 pro with unlocked BL and the latest "official" weekly 7.3.9 from xiaomi.eu and latest TWRP 3.0.2.0 from official twrp site.
I am unable to flash twrp.
I flash it with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img then boot into it using fastboot boot recovery.img with no issue at all.
Then,
if i reboot into recovery from twrp itself it still works.
if i let it boot the phone in its bootloader (POW+VOL_UP the one where you can choose "download" "fasboot" or "recovery") and i select recovery, it does not boot. The phone boots instead.
if i choose from the updater to reboot in recovery, same.
if i choose from flashify (which shows me "stock recovery" is installed), same.
if i use adb reboot recovery same.
i can only boot it using command fastboot boot recovery.img.
It just looks like the twrp flash says OKAY but it's not being flashed.
I've also tried cofface recovery with no success.
i've also tried official twrp app with no success.
everytime flash goes fine and successfully, but i'm unable to boot the phone in recovery itself.
i must always use fastboot boot recovery.img
Hints?
Hi @lalontra,
Use combination of Power+Vol(+)+Vol(-) button. It should boots you to recovery.

You are not alone, its problem of this concrete ROM from 9.3.2017 ido.! You must flash different ROM, previous release.

Hi,
Did not work.
I have now reverted to 7.2.24 and TWRP from the TWRP from the phone is back. I think something is broken in 7.3.9 global weekly miui build.

The Volume+ and Volume- and Power worked for me even with the rom error. Hold all buttons til you see the Mi logo, then release Power but keep holding both of the Volume buttons. I also reflashed TWRP Recovery via Fastboot, so maybe that was it.
I'm also facing a problem around TWRP 3.0.2.
But different situation
I always failed/unable to boot into recovery or bootloader everytime I click reboot recovery or bootloader button in TWRP recovery mode.
I still try to find a way how to fix it. Because all the articles that I found always explain about "cannot enter to recovery mode from the system", not from the recovery mode itself.
Do you got anything from all the steps above? Please let me know if there something u can share. Thanks in advance
Here's what happened in my xiaomi redmi 3 pro. Always failed to boot into recovery again or into bootloader mode when I'm still in TWRP mode.

Update, once installed 7.3.23 all three buttons combination works!
What still does not work is adb reboot recovery nor reboot in recovery from update page, but this is fine to me.

Honor 9 can boot just in to TWRP

after fastboot oem relock I can boot just to TWRP, PWR+Vol- will boot only to TWRP, also if if press reboot to bootloader in TWRP it boots into TWRP.
tried to install update.zip but throws errors
what state am I in an any idea how to recover?
I just wanted to unroot/relock
Thanks for any advise
Phone was working, unlocked and still rooted ?
Then, you decided to boot to bootloader to send a 'fastboot oem relock' command then you rebooted ?
Now you stated bootloader is replaced with twrp ?
When trying to flash random update.zip throught twrp, it gives you error message.
What's the problem here ?

yes, was working, unlocked and still rooted
also yes to 'fastboot oem relock'
bootloader was TWRP before
not flashing random update.zip, just the b120.

I just extracted what's in update.app, recovery.img, boot.img etc, any idea what do I can or must flush?
I suspect the bootloader is locked, is there a way to unlock it from within TWRP, same as with fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxx ?
I'll assume you meant bootloader was twrp AFTER you locked bootloader and was still bootloader before you locked it ?
By the way, before you locked you're bootloader, you were on which firmware and wich region ?

Ok, from your C432B120 you could try to restore the dload way to stock C432B130 with this file :

(instructions are inside the file, and you will need a formated exfat >8GB sdcard)

update.app in /sdcard/dload/ folder
volume down+ volume up+ power button
just did that, nomather which key combination I press, TWRP will boot
I did try to flash recovery.img in TWRP and now I'm in this, no more TWRP but ERROR MODE
soo, I guess I reach the point of no return just send for repair? I'm still under warranty
after draining the battery overnight as turning off did not work, I'm back to TWRP, TWRP appeared "magically" again
now the question ist, what can I flush in TWRP to go in to fastboot/bootloader again?
update:
forced to reproduce the ERROR MODE (see previous photo) with flashing boot.img and recovery.img in TWRP and could unlock bootloader again with:
c:\adb>fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxx
< waiting for any device >
--------------- hier I pressed Vol- plus PWR to force reboot after that fastboot unlocked and had on the phone the question if I want to unlock------------------
...
(bootloader) The device will reboot and do factory reset...
OKAY [ 20.001s]
finished. total time: 20.021s
now I have to figure out what to flash with fastboot, anyone have an idea?
update2:
drained the battery, rebooted Vol- + PWR
and I'm in fastboot now, stange stuff happens here
but same question, what to flash with fastboot to get it working again?
update 3:
extracted recovery.img and recovery2.img from B120 FW and flashed with fastboot
then B130 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/firmware-huawei-honor-9-stf-l09-stock-t3696892
now everything works.
the important thing was to unlock bootloader, even if you get the ERROR MODE you still have fastboot ad can lock/unlock the bootloader, see post #13
Congratulations

LG v30 H930 no Downloadmodus after Bootloader unlock

Hello,
After unlocking the boot loader, I wanted to downgrade from firmware V11m to V10F to flash TWRP recovery. The download mode is not working. I tried to flash the LAF partition without success.
"fastboot flash laf laf.img"
The following error was displayed.
"FAILED (remote: Cannot flash this partition in unlocked state)"
How can I restore the download mode?
Can I close the bootloader again?
Everything else works fine. I'm very grateful for help.
Best regards

That's right, but the download mode is Bricked.
The laf partition is responsible for the download mode. This can not be flashed with Fastboot.
My english is not good but google helps me with that.

Then they're downgrading through some other method. I'm pretty sure they discuss it in the thread how they're doing it.
Like this:

I have already read this thread.
There the Software LGUP is used for the Upgrade. With LGUP, the Phone restarts automatically in Download mode and updates the Firmware.
On Post #9 states, that the Download mode is a Part of the LAF Partition. But the LAF Partition seems to be broken on my Phone. My Phone starts on Fastboot mode instead.
I have extracted the laf_6.bin from the official Firmware and renamed it in laf.img. Then I tried using "fastboot flash laf laf.img" to repair the LAF Partition, without success. Even the previous delete by means of "fastboot erase laf" (took unusually long) brought no success.
How can I just fix the download mode?
I obviously have a very similar problem. My H930 depends on "fastboot format userdata" in the bootlogo. I can not turn it off. I'm not in the download mode. And I can not boot into the system either. Can anyone help me?

Hello Sky67,
I also had this problem.
Connect the phone to your PC. To turn off press the Power- Button and the Vol. down- Button at the same Time until the Phone restarts, now release the Power-Button. You should be in Fastboot now.
Or you start in Recovery mode.
Do not connect the Phone to the PC. Press the Power- Button and the Vol. down- Button at the same time and hold. As soon as the Phone restarts, wait until the first Logo and just release the Power- Button and press it again. The Phone should boot into Recovery.
Hallo patber307, thanks but that does not work. Neither do I get the H930 off, nor do I manage to come in any known way in the download mode or recovery mode.

Since the bootloader is unlocked you can use this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20/how-to/guide-how-to-rollback-emui-9-beta-to-t3841687
It works for me
Replace the TWRP image on the images folder with this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/development/recovery-testing-t3783587
After flashing twrp and restarting, vol+ doesn't work, boot normal way.

Flash p20 lite twrp, of success, restart phone, when there are 3 options, press power biton to boot, press vol up 3 sec to enter erecovery etc, and do nothing for 5 secons aitomatocaly boot in System you need to press vol up 3 seconds, then, when you are in e recovery, use option emergency backup, or somthing like that, then phone will reboot to emergency System mode, press option factory reset or somthing like that, second option from top if im coretly remeber, after that you will be in twrp recovery.
So,. If want to use downy, replace downy twrp with p20 lite one, do all what downy said, but, where you need to boot in twrp, do as writed i, and continue with downy after you are in twrp. Good luck
OK, do it in same way, it works. Earlier flashed this twrp, but after few seconds phone restart to system. Working and don't know why
Did you manage to downgrade?
Yes, thanks a lot.
