Were you on android 7.0 before installing? If so that's why and you'll have to flash stock android 7.0. Unless I've missed something there's no way to downgrade and no way to flash that ROM on the new bootloader in android 7.0

My previous version was android 6.0. Is there a reason why this don't work properly?

I'm not sure then if you were on android 6.0.1, it seems someone is having a similar issue on the original thread, I'd ask there. Perhaps it's a problem with a certain version of the ROM.

How can I check the previous version of android ?

[Q] How to update HC Alpha from 6.0 to 7.1?

Hello. I am currently on Alpha HC 6.0 and would like to update to 7.1 that just came out. Do I need to back up 6.0 using CWM and then install update.zip to go to 7.1? Or do I have to nvflash back to original and then do wipe/cache/dalvik and then install 7.1?
I am not sure if going from 6.0 to 7.1 requires to wipe/cache/dalvik everytime or just run the new update.zip and reboot w/o doing wipes/dalvik?
Just want to be sure before doing the update. Thanks in advance.

OK..thanks. I will search and post on the thread for that ROM.
Hello, I also have same quesetion. I use stock ROM 4349 to upgrade to backflash 6.0. It looks easy just copy command into recover folder and update in root. Then, go to recover mode and Gtablet do the updates automatically without any problem.
When I try to use same method for alpha 7.1, it brick the gtablet. I need to use NVflash to do it again. Do anyone know how to upgrade it correctly. BTW, when I install CWMOD form 4349 stock ROM, it fail and I will hang on the recovery mode. Anyone can help?

Every ROM install gets stuck at boot

I've been messing with this all day, to no avail.
When I first got my M8, I unlocked it and installed Android Revolution HD 7.0. As part of the process, I created a backup of the stock ROM.
Everything worked fine until I decided today that I wanted to update to a custom ROM with Lollipop. I tried the newest version of Android Revolution HD and SkyDragon, several times each, and every time it got stuck on the boot screen. The only way I can fix it is restoring to the stock ROM.
As part of my troubleshooting process today, I went from S-ON to S-OFF and changed my CID. Still, nothing worked.
I also tried to update my recovery to a newer version of TWRP and broke it for a while. Mysteriously, when I tried to install CWM from the Play app, it ended up restoring my old version of TWRP.
I downloaded an older (pre-Lollipop) version of Android Revolution and tried to install that to get back to what I was used to, but that was unsuccessful as well.
Can someone please walk me through this process?

I used this thread that you linked previously: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/general/att-4-4-4-firmware-signed-encrypted-t3031703
The first ZIP was corrupted, even after a second download.
I don't recall the error on the stripped down one, but I can mess with it again later today.
Do you have any other links for the firmware?
So if I need to install 4.44 before changing ROMs, do I also need to install 5.0 separately?

Woo, it worked this time! I almost thought it was stuck again, but it managed to get through.
I'm on a custom ROM with 4.4.4 now. What do I need to do to get up to 5.0? Do I just flash a 5.0 ROM, or do you have a 5.0 firmware that I flash first?

Idk of hand if there is lollipop firmware for Att as I'm not a Att user just helping out. So either try an flash a device compatible ROM an see what happens or see if there is L firmware but it should work on 4.4.4 firmware. Should that is. What twrp version r you using? I would fastboot flash the latest one for your device.
I've successfully updated to SkyDragon v37 (5.0)!
I guess the missing piece of the puzzle was just that 4.4 upgrade, immediately followed by a ROM update prior to reboot.
Thanks so much.

Can't flash stock rom

Hi guys,
I really need help here. I have a SGP312, bootloader unlocked, and I'd like to get back to stock rom 10.7.A.0.228 because I need MHL-Output and this doesn't work with any custom rom I tried. Here's the problem: I can get into fastboot and into flash mode but nothing I try is working. If I use flashtool the and flash latest XperiFirm ROM for SGP312 everything is running fine until I try to boot. The Sony logo appears and then nothing happens. Once I waited for over 30 minutes. Screen stays on but it's not booting.
So back to flashing recovery...in recovery I can flash ALL custom roms I want. LineageOS, crDroid, CyanogenMod, no problem. If I try to flash this: "https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-tablet-z/general/stock-10-7-0-228-vmo-t3303365" I have same problem as described before. Sony logo pops up, screen stays on, no boot.
Also I tried different recoveries TWRP, CWM, Phil's and so on and nothing seems to work. With wipes without wipes does not matter...
And I tried Sony flash tool Emma (with rom for SGP11) and I tried with TWRP to flash a backup of 10.7.A.0.228 I made...both with same results
Can anyone help? I just want to go back to Android 5.1.1 (root preferred but if no root it's also okay) or I need a custom rom with working MHL. Does anyone have the one clue that can get me back to stock rom?
Thanks guys!

It's a known issue, especially after coming from android 7.x.x ROMs.
You need to flash ANY stock ROM except 5.1.1. 4.1.2 or 4.4.2 will do. After the ROM boots ok, you can flash 5.1.1 directly via Flashtool 0.9.18.6.
It will work.

Thank you very much! I'll give that a try. Right now I'm having problems with flashtool 0.9.23.2. It gives me the "Processing of loader.sin finished with errors" and "Error in processHeader : 1" when I try to flash. Drivers are installed correctly, tablet z is recognized as "Sony sa0107". I'm running Windows 10 64bit and flashtool as admin.
Any ideas?

thanks for the tip! It worked. I went from 4.4.4 to 5.1.1 prerooted although I had to do this with a Macbook. Even version 0.9.18.6 didn't want to flash my SGP312. I think the drivers on my windows machine are really messed up. But now everything is fine!
Thanks again!

Thank you SO much! I have been flashing umpteen versions with no luck and now with a very ancient "store front" version I'm back up and running! Thanks!
I'm sorry but I can't find any suitable firmware for SGP312.
I'm currently on Android 5.1.1 (Build 10.7.A.0.228, Germany/EU if that matters), and I'd really like to try to upgrade it to LineageOS 15.1 for all kinds of reasons; but in case that I botch anything (or the apps I really need don't work, like the screen time manager, as it's the kids' device), I really want to have a working firmware at hand to at least recover it back.
Kinda-noob question: do I really need a flashable firmware or would a full nandroid backup work for a rollback once I have TWRP installed?

For a kids device, i would recommend to stay on sony stock 5.1.1, because games run faster there, also it is already tried and tested with easy root installation and debloating.
To revert back from custom ROM (LOS or RR) to stock you'll need to flash firstly any firmware (like 4.4.4) except the latest 5.1.1, then boot it, and afterwards update to 5.1.1 if you want so. If you revert straight to the latest 5.1.1 stock, you'll get permanent bootloop or black screen issue.
So you need to have at least two stock firmware packages.
As for nandroid backup, you can't revert from custom rom to stock via restoring nandroid backup.
Fresh install is recommended.

Need help flashing TWRP onto my rooted SCH-I545 Verizon, 5.0.1, I545VRSGPL1

Can this even be accomplished ?
I am not very phone savvy. I have spent a ton of time reading (apparently) questionable directions/suggestions on what to do.
My ultimate goal was to flash some (any) form of LineageOS on this phone.
I have the USB drivers etc installed (I did manage to root the phone).
I have downloaded Odin (two versions : 3.09 which did not work and 3.14.14 which scared me with warning about deleting my google account...)
I was trying to flash TWRP-3.3.1-0jfltevzw.img.tar (and 3.3.0) obtained from the TWRP website.
I get Write FAIL! (Auth) error very early on.
I have NOT unlocked the bootloader (Is that possible ?). There is no OEM Unlock option in my settings.
I assumed that if the TWRP website published the recovery file that it must be possible to flash it - right ?
I also assume that if I can get ANYTHING flashed to the phone then I should be able to flash some sort of LineageOS. ???
If I ever get this to work, does the TWRP recovery co-exist with LineageOS or does is TWRP wiped when you flash LineageOS ?
Am I using the wrong tool ? Should I be using Odin or something else ?
Sorry for all the questions - but these are a reflection of my mind at this point (quite jumbled).
No LineageOS or TWRP. Verizon prevents the bootloader from being unlocked. You need an unlocked bootloader to install TWRP or an AOSP custom ROM like LineageOS. Some ROMs are possible, but they will all be based on TouchWiz. If you see a ROM with an Android version of 4.x.x, it's not compatible. Only 5.x.x works once you've updated. Here is a guide and list of ROMs: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...bricked-de-brick-rom-list-kernel-mod.3395833/

Question quick easy android 13 install?

hi
just got a SM-T225 via o2 in UK
It came with android 11 & one ui 3.1 and I've successfully unlocked the bootloader
what's the best way to get an android 13 build installed? I want a 'vanilla experience' if I can, I don't want Samsung apps but I can uninstall then with adb if necessary
I tried to update to android 13 but now it says FAILED, 'your tablet's operating system has been modified in an unauthorised way'
looks like I can get version T225XXU1CVL5 from samfw so is there a quick/dirty way to install that?
thanks!

If you want a truly vanilla AOSP experience, you can follow my guide here to install an AOSP GSI.
Otherwise, if you're simply seeking to install stock Samsung A13 firmware, use Odin.

Example :

BUT in the firmware download there is also a HOME_CSC_xxxxx file, do I need to do anything with that one?

If you're doing a clean flash and want to wipe data, use the CSC_xxxxx file. The HOME_CSC_xxxxx is when you're already on Samsung firmware and want to upgrade, as it does not wipe user data. As long as you never installed a custom ROM and are simply trying to upgrade the stock firmware, you can use HOME_CSC. It is still advisable to do a clean flash, however, just to prevent any issues with residual leftovers from older firmware.
quick follow up, odin4 on linux worked a treat

Hi V0latyle,
I'm in the same situation as punteruk. I just unlocked the A7 Lite (T220) that came with Android 11 and now want to flash Android 13.
I downloaded Android 13 for my region from samfw.com. Specifically, this one: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-T220/XAC/T220XXU1CVL7. The ZIP file only has AP, BL, CSC and HOME_CSC. Is it okay to flash?

How is stock One UI with Android 13? I would probably prefer an AOSP/LOS build, but I've never used a GSI build before. Any limitations with using a GSI build?
