I'm using this app for some months now and it's great! Very simple to prevent apps you don't use often running in the background and/or draining your battery!
But i don't recommend hibernating every app, just those you don't want running in the background when your screen is off. Hibernating any app on your phone will definately affect your phone's multitasking ability/performance and also prevent (for example) instant messengers to work correctly. The integrated app analyser does a good job in suggesting you apps to hibernate. I also recommend using Wakelock Detector to find apps waking up your phone and then hibernate them in case they're less important to you.

How do I stop google play store and play services from running non stop in the background?? I have my location turned off, and privacy guard turned on, but somehow play services and google maps can get my location? Google play store runs something called "daily hygiene"and all three of these apps restart themselves when I kill them. I don't need play services running, when only the location part of it is running. When I try and disable autostart, receivers, freeze them, use advanced freeze through ROM toolbox, they either revert back instantly, or as soon as the phone reboots. Can anyone tell me how to get this crap to stop running when it's not being used, and stop getting location, or whatever other things I'm trying to keep private?
update
Update what?

Freeze them with titanium backup. It'll stick through a reboot.
Is there a way to make it stop constantly running in the background and become a cached process without freezing?

If you do not want to freeze them. You might try Greenify. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155737
Although system app hibernation might only be with the donation package. But I can't remember. Might want to read up on the OP in the link.
Use greenify
yes the best option is to use greenify which stops those apps run in background unnessecerily
Hi, I discovered today that probably due to play store and services automatic update I have some new wakelocks which keep the device constantly awake. They are GCM_CONN_ALARM,
GCM_HB_ALARM and GCM_CONN. Each of them keep the device awake equal time.
Has someone any suggestions what to do or has anyone else same problem?

I have the same issue since my Android was updated to KitKat.
It seems the problem is in Google Play Services: Location (it's that feature to locate you via WiFi)
I think they know about it. However it's hard to make hotfixes for some reason.
I found two ways to keep my battery from discharging:
1. clear cache of Google Play services and restart a phone (temporary solution)
2. kill all the Google Play services (there are 4 of them in my phone). Unfortunately it doesn't help if you just kill only a location service.
Anyway this issue is still not clear to me.
Turned off sync, now it enters deep sleep also sometimes, but still most of the time device is in active state

Use an app called Greenify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify to control apps causing wakelocks and battery drain. Works better if you are rooted.

Have you tried to greenify Google play services? It's not possible since it is system app and when converting it to user app won't work.

Now I have tried to refresh another stock based rom, same problem, still only one?

All my apps on my note 4 are google play payed, but to remove annoying ads on internet and apps, i tried using seven adclear. I installed adclear and installed the adclear sertificate in the app so i had to make a security lock screen with code. Can this adclear ap that not are in google play but in amazon be the reason that my phone now hangs and crash?

Hey there, AdClear here. If you're having issues, try sending us a connection issue if you haven't already. I can say that we very rarely cause other apps to crash. Try exempting the apps you don't want blocking in under Advanced Settings > App Management
Hello,
So I was using Greenify and hibernate Facebook app, but with the last week or so. My facebook app sometime doeasnt load, showing "cant connect right now" and I tried to search google. most issues I've found are Greenify's issue on facebook, especially when facebook got hibernated and woke up for a long time. I had to restart my device to getting facebook working again, ridiculous.
so any workaround on this? As we know that facebook app is the worst battery sucker.
I'm using Resurrection Remix 7.1.2 on Mi 5s Plus, rooted and privileged
Thanks.
Best option is to use one of the 'lite' Facebook alternatives which preserve functionality without the corresponding hit on battery life and data consumption. Also make sure non of Greenify's alternative doze/hibernation modes are enabled (aggressive/deep/shallow) as they are known to create side effects with few, if any, corresponding benefits on Android 6 and above. Good luck.
I use greenify in shallow hibernation mode and Facebook works fine and doesn't eat much battery.
