Can't enter decryption password on boot after removing Google Keyboard - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I completely removed Google Keyboard from stock rom (Moto X Play, 6.0.1) and installed Hacker's Keyboard instead. Everything works fine, but when phone boots and the screen appears where you have to enter the password to decrypt the device no keyboard is present on screen. I can go around it with USB OTG and physical PC keyboard but this is not something I can do anytime as I don't carry the keyboard with me. Is there any way to use custom keyboard to decrypt the phone or is it somehow set to work with Google keyboard only? Hacker's Keyboard is installed in /system/app if that matters. TIA

[Q] decrpytion problem with default keyboard

Hi everyone, I have a problem relating to decryption... I simultaneously attempted to decrypt my i9100T (4.0.3, root) and remove the stock keyboard app (I have Swiftkey, so removing the Samsung app seemed to make sense). However, for some unknown reason the decryption failed because I am still prompted for my decryption key at bootup. This is a problem because I no longer have the stock app to input the key and I can't select Swiftkey. Further, I did do a Titanium backup before rooting so I still have the stock app on the internal memory, but it's obviously of little use at this point...
Is there some way of making Swiftkey the 'real' default keyboard, or mounting the phone to a PC and inputting the key? Otherwise, I guess I could attempt a JB flash and get the new stock keyboard, the problem with this being that all the links I have found for T-variant modems on JB are broken. A 4.0.3 reflash seems so redundant...
Any help appreciated Cheers

[Q] Phone Setup Wizard questions

I've installed a custom Rom [Chaos] without a keyboard, and then flashed my favourite keyboard, Swiftkey, via CWMod.
During the Phone Startup wizard, this keyboard wasn't active, so I had to skip all the steps.
One of the steps was entering your name ("for personalising the phone").
I've gone through and manually configured everything else, but I can't find anywhere to enter my name in this way.
Does anybody know how I can configure this?
just curious - why do yo need it?
This is normally Security > Owner info (I think)
Just a note, I would not recommend removing the stock keyboard or launcher. These are essential for fall back if something goes wrong. Even if you're flashing a keyboard to /system/app, it's best to keep stock handy.

No keyboard to allow encrypted phone login

The steps which I took are:
Encrypt
Set Password
Install custom keyboard
Disable Google Pinyin Keyboard
Restart
Password input is unavailable
Wiping with the exception of cache does not work, possibly due to the encryption.
I am running the stock recovery as that updated by itself after the encryption.
I have found a Google keyboard which I don't know how to flash onto the ROM.
Thank you for your interest,

(Q) LG Stylo FRP removal from rooted phone.

My stylo (ms63110j) is rooted. Yes it is my phone. I lock myself out on purpose as a challenge. 10e firmware was easy I found a link in keyboard settings so used that to access the stock browser and used the browser as a file explorer (file://) to access quick shortcuts apk on my sd card.
I can install apps and use send commands in download mode. I have installed quickshortuts.apk via push/send commands but I can't start it while the LG setup wizard is running. So what are my options.
So far i have tried "--wipe_data" command nothing happened.
I tried flashing twrp but again nothing happened (probably because of locked boot loader on 10j firmware)
I tried activating usb debugging which works but then you need to tick a box on the phone and it wouldn't prompt so that was a fail. So i cant run commands while phone is on only in download mode.
I installed nova launcher in the hopes it would prompt with "set default launcher" and I could choose nova instead of lg setup wizard. It didn't.
So is there a command to set nova as default launcher on boot? Is there a command to factory reset from settings not the button combo method (button combo reset is what triggers this) can I have quickshortcut.apk launch at boot or a browser would be equally helpful. I can access recent apps menu if I can get it running in the background.
have you got any other weird and wonderful ideas.
I've obviously got the google account, a twrp backup and a factory kdz so don't mind if your method bricks it. It's just a bit of fun.
GOT IT.
Haha it was almost too easy again. All the old tricks are patched. I ended up going into keyboard settings and clicked on the language... option. I clicked around a bit, sellected a few languages clicked some of the gear icons etc when suddenly a metropcs splash screen popped up. It was full of data links so I was able to access an internet browser then download quickshortcutmaker apk and well you'll work it out from there.

No stock Android keyboard?

So I don't mind SwiftKey, or I wouldn't if it wasn't for the issues it's causing.
The problem for me is I use my phone as an authenticator through the SIM Toolkit app.
This requires a password, this password contains the symbols * and # which are missing from the keypad when using swiftkey, gboard, you name it.
Isn't there supposed to be just a stock keyboard? If not, can I install a stock one?
* and # are both on the “123” tab of SwiftKey.
