One Plus X abnormal bootloop - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Oneplus x was rooted with bluspark installed, everything worked fine.
Dropped it in the toilet last night, and went into a very weird bootloop where it gets to the one plus x logo, waits 4 seconds then restarts again, gets to the oneplus x logo, waits 4 seconds, restarts again, and repeats. Holding down the power and volume button doesn't go into recovery mode.
As of this morning the phone only turns on when on charge, but it still does the exact same thing. Taking it off charge kills it.
Willing to do anything to just get it working again, complete reset or anything.
I rooted it a fair while ago following guides and can't really remember much of the technical stuff, I'm a huge noob basically.
Please help!

I think the water damage might be worse than I thought as the phone is completely unresponsive now, apart from a very brief little red light in the corner when connected to a charger. I'm guessing it's too far gone

[Q] No Power at All

So something very weird has happened..
I had my phone plugged in charging as I was going to sleep, everything was working fine. I wake up 4 hours later, and go to check my phone but nothing happens, and I notice that I have no charging light, nothing. I unplug the charger and plug it into my computer...nothing, I try a different cord...nothing. I tried holding the power button, but still nothing. I'm really confused as to what could have happened, because like I said it was just sitting there charging, I don't keep any open water anything near it either, so that couldn't have happened.
My phone is rooted, and is s-off, I was running MeanRom 4.3 when this happen, and it had been on that for 4 days without any issues.
Any Ideas what could have happened, or what I can?
so quick update, phone started rebooting like crazy all of a sudden. I heard it vibrate on my night stand, and noticed it was on the HTC boot screen, then it went black, and did it again. So I held power+volume down and got to the bootloader, but again it just randomly rebooted while it was in bootloader, as it was restarting it made it to the start up animation, however just went black again for about 3-4 mintues, then started rebooting again....I am very confused...
Well I had the same problem, but my phone Never got reboots or anything just dead.. Ended up with service on guarantee and they had to change the moderboard of my phone

man I hope that not the issue, but its rebooting like crazy now, and I actually rebooted enough to fully boot at one point, and the weird thing is, the Back buttong, home button and recent apps button were flashing, just like they do when you hold the power button in...

Well looks like a trip to Best buy at lunch today (I have the Bestbuy insurance because there is no fee for insurance claims...)
I'm just worried that while I'm there that it will try to start bootlooping, and they will see the text on the "Quietly Brilliant" screen, or it will go far enough to show MeanRom's boot animation, and they will stop the thing on the spot. After posting this morning it has had 2-3 sessions of wild boot loops, where it is continuous every couple of seconds rebooting. In the 3 minutes I've been typing this, it has gone through probably 10 cycles, each time making to the end of the Quietly Brilliant HTC screen where it shows the "This build is for HTC Development only..." yikes...
Best buy doesn't care if its rooted man. I brought in 2 rooted EVO's and exchanged them on the spot. Most of them don't even know what root is. If they did they don't know about the HTC dev screen.

HTC EVO LTE reboots continuosly, display dark

Weird experience today..used my phone at lunch, no issues. Went to to use it this afternoon and it would not wake up. I held the power button down for about 10-15 seconds, then it vibrated like it was rebooting. That's when it started to vibrate every 10-15 seconds, similar to a boot loop, but the display is dark. I'm unable to get it to boot into hboot, or recovery. When plugged in, the charging indicator does not illuminate. I think it's bricked. I'm running s-off, and MeanBean. This is the first time I've ever experienced an issue like this with any of my android phones.
I hope that once the battery dies, I can charge it and hope that it boots into hboot, or recovery.
Any suggestions?
Damn. Seeing a lot of posts like this lately. Making me nervous
Sorry, wish I knew what to tell you.

This has happened to me. It is in what I believe diag mode or something. I kept holding the power and volume to get in recovery, which it did go to, and I wiped all caches, and re flashed the rom, and all was good! Hope that helps.
I dropped my phone off at a Sprint Service Center today...they tried everything to restore it, or get it to boot for that matter. It's dead, replacement phone on the way.
I had the same thing happen to my phone and came across this thread while looking for a solution. I also ended up having to get it replaced. Fortunately I did a full back-up three days prior to it crapping out so I didn't loose much.

[Q] Left phone in the car. Now it's stuck on bootloader

Had some soccer games to ref this morning and didn't set my phone out of the sunlight. Came out to the car after the games and it was off and very warm. Tried turning it on and it wouldn't. After I got home and it cooled down on the car A/C the whole way home it only does the below things.
The phone will flash the LG logo and then go to a black screen with the backlight running. nothing further happens after that. I can put it in download mode and such, but I really don't want to wipe my phone. Any ideas as to why it is only stuck at the bootloader.

It should blink slowly or maybe pulse would better describe it. I had that happen from heat when running benchmarks. Was able to get it to boot by plugging it in , powering it on and off then unplugging, then plugging it in and powering it on until the light blinked and charging animation showed. Others have taken phone apart and diconnected battery.

Just moments before you replied I began a re-flash of stock ROM. (probably a somewhat hasty decision in hind sight.)
I am beginning to fear more... It just show the battery charging animation on the screen now and will only make it to the AT&T music before locking up and going no further.
I read stories elsewhere of serious battery problems from leaving it get that hot. I hope I am just being paranoid and that the phone is truly just a dead battery. Although that doesn't make any sense considering it was at 100% this morning and the phone has been off more than on since then with no use at all.
Many thanks again for any help! I am certainly not new to rooting and such and have been an XDA lurker for many years. I am very proficient with phone issues and if there is anything else more technical to try I am not afraid to try that as well.

Do you mean you used lgnpst to restore?
If at this point it appears to be charging right and still hangs on boot you may need to do a factory reset. It will wipe your internal storage though. If you wish to try that it is done by powering off then holding volume down and power until reset menu comes up.

Yes, LGNPST.
Having troubles with vol down - power button. Seemed like I had issues with this last time when I nearly bricked it trying to root the phone.
Thanks again for the help. Almost in the home stretch now I think. Just waiting for it to get a charge now.
I had this happen once using Navigation on a cheap car charger.
I was in unknown territory, but as I got back to the main highway, I found myself knowing where I was going and stopped paying attention to my phone.
This lead to my phone getting hotter and hotter until it shat itself and would only display a black screen. I unplugged it and attempted to turn it off, which seemed to work. I left it off for an hour or so until I got home. It still wouldn't turn on for a while, so I stuck it on the charger. After a few minutes, it came up fine.
YMMV.

[Q] Phone won't turn on (black screen) but it vibrates once every 34 seconds

I'm completely at a loss here. I was running a 4.3 rom for the past week or two with no issues. Pulled my phone out of my pocket 30 min ago, hit the power button and the screen wouldn't light up. I tried it again and still no go. I tried swiping to unlock, even with the black screen and i felt it vibrate.
Ever since then my phone is non responsive. I can't get it to boot, can't hard reset it, nothing. The vibrates stop when I'm holding down power and down volume but that's about it. I timed the constant vibrates and they happen every 34 seconds according to the Win8 clock (which i've heard in inaccurate).
I'm gonna let the battery drain and hope that it will boot back up after it dies...but until then, any ideas?
Try plugging it into your computer and see what comes up. Which 4.3 ROM were you on?

That's the first thing I tried. I get nothing when i plug it into my comp. Nothing pops up in device manager. The comp doesn't detect it at all.
And I was running the 8/23 release of carbon 4.3 and I didn't have one problem with it until this happened :\
EDIT: The phone's battery finally ran out. It stopped vibrating and after a bit i plugged it in. After a few min it just starting doing it again.
I disassembled the phone and removed the battery for awhile hoping it would somehow help. Didn't do anything. It showed the flashing charge light (like when it's really low) for maybe a minute then it stop lighting up at all. Sometimes if i leave it unplugged for a bit and plug it back in it will flash the light again. That's about all I'm getting out of it now.
I'm thinking something failed internally. It happened while it was on and I was using it so there's no possibility that it was from a flash or anything like that.
Took my phone to the sprint store. The tech wasn't sure either but he thought it might be the screen that died. The vibrating could be the phone trying to boot then realizing there's no screen. They took it apart to check for moisture/damage and said I'm good to go for the $50 replacement.
So my new Evo will be here Tuesday.

did you resolved it i'm having same had same issue as you mine is htc sensation but think is the same thing ive replacet the digitizer some day ago and it was working very good untill it start to vibrate and than died, now it flashes an orange light when i try to charge and after a while stops but i cant power it on nothing hapens when i press power button
Did you resolve the issue?
Did you ever resolve this issue? My Evo LTE started doing the exact same thing this evening and all of the Sprint stores are closed until tomorrow. I figure it's something internal that died and I can't see what it's trying to do... I guess you just got the replacement and didn't ever get it resolved with that particular phone?

Please save me!Phone stuck in a Bootloop, won't turn on to the lock screen or recovery

My phone just randomly started bootlooping and is now stuck in a permanent bootloop that only stops when I pull the battery and then starts right back up if I put the battery in and try turning it back on. I've had it for 6 months now, rooted it with Dirty COW six months ago and it's been completely FINE until just now.. the past few days it has been extremellllly laggy but still worked fine and then this happened out of the blue! I can't get into recovery and because it won't turn on to the lockscreen I can't do adb reboot recovery! Please someone help.
Again, it's rooted using Dirty COW but has been rooted for six months now; I have two batteries for it and I use Nova Launcher which also recently (within past week) started to continually crash and re-ask me which launcher I wanted to use by default, and did it every time it crashed.
Please help me someone! At least to get into recovery so I can get my stuff off!

do you have TWRP recovery installed?
there can be two possible solutions
1. go into twrp recovery and factory restore it
2. or connect to LG Bridge on your computer in download mode

What Can i do via LG Bridge? and I keep trying to get into TWRP but it won't let me; it just continues to show the yellow bootloader "Your bootloader can't be checked" or whatever that message is :/
I'm sorry to inform you that it seems that you are another one fallen into the bootloop of death. It is a well known hardware malfunction of several LG cell phone's mainboards.
You can try put your phone in freezer for 5-10 mins (without battery) and see if it restarts for enough time to perform a backup.
Another (much more risky) temporary solution is to heat it with a hair-drier for some minute, better disassembling it and trying not to heat camera zone too much. I honestly advice you not to try this second method, just inform you that it exists.
By the way, those two are only temporary workarounds, your phone is unrecoverable without a mainboard replacement or a professional resoldering of it.
Hope that some minute near the ice will suffice to get your V10 back for recover your data.
Good luck!

With lg Bridge you can restore you phone to it's original form.
and do not try heating or freezing method your phone has a software failure not hardware.
and about that scree show unable or something it shows once you install custom recovery.
if you previously have installed the TWRP then here is the method to get into it
a) pull battery out, and put it back in to make sure phone is completely powered off
b) Press and hold volume down + power button, as soon as phone lights up and shows LG logo release power button for just one second and press again untill you see a hardreset screen
c) on hard reset screen press vol - button on yes and press power button to select yes and do it again on next screen, it will lead you to TWRP Recovery

uh, no his phone is done. This is a hardware failure, its pretty clear. The lag op described is exactly what happens when the phone is about to go into the inevitable bootloop.op's best bet would be to put it in the freezer to salvage data if he needs to.i tried the heat gun method, no go but freezer had my phone up for 5 mins before it went back into bootloop.
thnx

I can't turn on my phone. Unfortunately my phone automatically goes off ,after that it isnt turning on.Sometimes after keeping it refrigarator for a while, it turns on for 10-15 second and goes off.I have tried to enter download mode, but before loading download mode it goes off. Even i cant enter to fastboot mode by removing battery and keeping volume down key.Sometimes, after lot of trying of the same procedure, it goes to blue screen ... there are too much error in the blue screen, also kernel crash . Sometimes i can enter to fastboot mode, but the bootloader is locked . In device manager , it finds----- qualcom hs-usb-qloader 9008. If anyone can fix this, plz plz, let me know ,how to solve this problem.

Your phone is gone, your best bet is to call LG, best you can hope for is to explain to them that you recently got this phone, say within last 6 months, and now it is in a bootloop, you may get a replacement, I have already done about 20 of these LG V10 phones that way, they just end up replacing the board in it, but other than that, there strictly must not be any liquid or physical damage to inside or screen or they will charge you for it.
I am not 100% entirely they will still honor the fixing of bootloops due to warranty status, but I stopped sending mine in in December last year, but this is for a defect they admit and not normal wear out that is in the actual warranty coverage.
Never buy an LG phone anymore. Me and my children will never buy again an LG phone.

Hi try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3770755
I tried it and it resurrected my phone. Good luck
I tried it and it works very well. It resurrected my phone. No bootloop since last night. What I did was :
1st-put electric tape on the cpu and gpu(4 or 5 layers of tape). I tried to put tape and make it to fit the surface of the cpu and gpu.
2nd-I put the pile on the back
3rd-reboot the phone and voilĂ  it's working well till now.
I hope that it can continue like that.
