Is the developer rom pre-rooted? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Well, is it? If yes, is there any way to remove pre-root?

it's not rooted

Afaik the china dev rom does have root, but without a custom recovery / unlocked bootloader I don't think you can replace it.

Its not pre-rooted

And for your info dont try to deblot dev rom or you will end up in bootloop, uninstalling any app causes boot loop

warranty

do I lose warranty if I install a custom recovery + root with z4root + flash a custom rom on Optimus One?
thanks
Yes.
But you still can try flash back the official ROM before you send it back.
If no success then goodbye warranty (If they see it ofcourse).
Cheers
so there are no bootloader unlock to do?

I did another question mate...
so, can sombody confirm that the procedure to install a custom rom is the following:
- install a custom recovery
- root with z4
- install a custom rom
anything else to do? (no unlock procedure as for nexusOne?)
Second question:
wich is the procedure to flash back original recovery and original rom in case i flash something custom (recovery or rom or both)?
thanks mates
No, its all what you need for Custom ROM. Maybe - for unroot you need FW V10a(b,c) not higher.

S1bootdriver installer for flashing your phone

Hi,
In case anyone (like me) has issues installing the S1boot driver for your xperia, to be able to flash other firmware, here is the link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=718060&d=1315877046
This driver will install itself after you run the executable file dpinst.exe after having extracted the archive.
With the driver you can use the flash tool (combined with your phone booted in flash mode (volume down + usb connect)) to flash other firmware on the phone.
P.S. i'm not talking about fastboot mode, but "flash mode" ;-)

i dont think you have to unlock the bootloader to flash your phone, you have to enable usb debugging in your phone ,settings>applications>development>usb debugging
pls correct me if im wrong
Hi,
As far as I know you "have" to unlock the bootloader before being able to flash custom firmware on the Phone.
I unlocked the bootloader via the sonyericsson site link :
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/
I use 4pda.ru firmware+kernel from this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424121
Reason I dont use CM or MIUI is that I need a 100% functional phone (both corporate and private usage, that's why) . I encourage the development on CM and MIUI, don't get me wrong here
You can find more information about unlocking, rooting and flashing custom kernels and firmware on this XDA forum.

You can setup CWM and flash ROM on unlocked device, but you can't flash kernel and baseband.
So current situation is: you can't flash CM or MIUI (which requires their own kernels) on unlocked device, but you can flash stock-based mods like repack4pda (which works with stock kernels).

You both mean locked right?

Do you need to root the stock rom after unlocking to flash a different rom?

Do I need to root the stock rom after unlocking the bootloader? I just want to unlock the bootloader, install custom recovery and flash a rom to get verizons bloated junk out a here. Thanks

I was just wanting to get off the stock rom, the one out of the box from verizon. Do i have to root the stock rom from verizon, or can i just flash a rom through recovery with out rooting the original stock rom? I know most custom roms have root baked in. I dont want to back up verizons junk. I was just wondering if i could skip rooting the stock setup. Thanks
If you are replacing the ROM, you don't need to worry about rooting the stock ROM. You may still want to use fastboot to flash a root enabled kernel however.
Due to our unique Dev unlock flashing a custom ROM (that is root enabled) won't also flash the kernel on the dna. You must flash kernels in fast boot instead of recovery.
Some things that require root in androide, also require a kernel that is root enabled.
I would also encourage you to make a backup of your stock rom in recovery.

i was just curios. Thanks for responding
You don't have to use fast boot. You can put the flash_image binary in system/bin and use that from the terminal for the *.img part

Help regarding Sola Custom ROMs

I would like to run custom ROMs( CM) based in my device. To start with, I aj a total noob and my device currently runs stock ICS provided by sony itself. It's not rooted. I wanted to know the steps regarding how-to do the procedures like :
~> unlock bootloader ( is it needed or not)
~>root (needed or not)
~> flash custom ROM( which one is good and runs fast, least buggy)
~> which CM?
~> which recovery, which kernel, how-to's
Etc.
I don't know if all info is available on the forum in one thread or not, so I created a new thread.
Thanks in advance.
AW: Help regarding Sola Custom ROMs
You have to try every ROM on your own! Everybody has an other way to use it's Smartphone, so nobody can say which ROM is perfect for you and Root and CWM is needed for every Custom ROM Cause you need CWM to install the ROM and to install CWM you need Root And if the ROM is compatible with a locked or unlocked BL is said in every OP of a Custom ROM
Open your eyes and use the search function! You can find nearly EVERYTHING here on xda
But still a guide would be helpful...if possible...

If you don't wanna unlock your bootloader(which will void your warranty) but you wanna install cwm, you can always root your phone and install the cwm recovery... Now, every custom roms is very good!!! You must be thankful to all the devs here and try some roms on yourself... We can't tell that which Rom is good for you so you must try it on your own... CyanogenMod 9 is good and very smooth but requires you to unlock your bootloader... You also must unlock your bootloader to flash awesome kernels that provides overclock and many more...
You can find cwm recovery for locked bootloader at here!! Be sure to follow the steps properly!!
And to root stock .54, you must first flash the .10 kernel using flashtool, root it using binary method, then flash back the .54 kernel..

RootKit Questions

Hello
I have a few questions about the hole "thing" cause this is my first android phone and on apple there was just the option jailbreaked or not jailbreaked
My first question is about the bootloader.
since i was reading the thread "[FULL ROOT] Community RootKit! (ASEC vulnerability) {v01} [20140615]" i am asking me why should i unlock my bootloader when im able to get root without doing this?
Is there any special point for wich i need the unlocked bootloader or is it just written for the people who unlocked there bootloader already?
Then to second question is about the sequence.
Am i right when i
1. get root
2. install cwm or twrp
3. install custom rom?
by the way: is there any huge difference between twrp and cwm? because at the table "Kernels" there is the TWRP for the Xperia T2 Ultra and an unofficial version and from CMW is an unofficial version too? Wich should i use?
and my last question is should i wait for version 2 of the RootKit or are there just small differences?

Bootloader unlock is required to install Custom kernels like DOOMLORDS kernel. In case if you dont want that then no need to unlock BL.
Just follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784757 to get root on Locked Bl and then revert back to .402

A custom ROM is different from a custom kernel. Some custom ROMs do not require custom kernels (because they use stock kernel), but others do. So it really depends on the custom ROM that you want to use. Instructions and requirements will be posted in the respective ROM thread.
But if you want to use a custom kernel, then you will need to unlock the bootloader first.
And obviously, if you want to flash a custom ROM that needs custom kernel, then you will have to unlock your bootloader first.
Even if you want to flash a custom ROM that does not require a custom kernel, you need to first root the phone with the RootKit. Because flashing custom ROMs is usually done via recovery, and recovery installation requires root.
Hope the above is not too confusing.

Yes, run Rootkit, install recovery (TWRP/CWM) and then you can flash custom ROM which uses stock kernel.
Custom kernels allow functions such as overclocking, undervolting, etc.

Or you can use the toolkit on .55/.69
Then follow Nuts thread and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784757
this would bring you back to .402 and have recovery installed by default on Locked bootloader

then i have 2 new questions
1. How can i downgrade my phone ? just download the fw and use flashtool?
got an iphone till now and there it was a hard work to do it ..
2. is there any difference between locked and uinlocked bootloader? i mean in the point of restoring so that i have my warranty back?
1. There's now an even easier way to root the 402 firmware that does not require you to downgrade first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
But note this post, where you have to change something in the install.bat file for it to work on the Z2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53480221&postcount=81
2. It's a little more work if your bootloader is unlocked and you want to relock it before sending it to the service centre. You need to have your TA backup before doing so. If your bootloader is locked, you just have to remove root via SuperSU before sending it in for service.
