Open URL links on Mediapad M3 - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

I tried to open a browser link (url file) in es-explorer. But there is no choice to select the chrome app. Only choice is text, pictures, but no browser!
In app settings of chrome I can`t select "Open related link"
With my rooted Nexus same stuff is doing fine.
Any ideas?

[Q] Accessing HTML-files on the SC-card from the Web browsers address field?

Hi
Have backed-up all my Firefox bookmarks on the computer to a HTML-file and copied it to the E10i.
What I wanted was to use it as a start page on the Mini's browser.
But...
I can't get to work.
Astro finds the file and opens it in a HTML-viewer that only opens the links in the web browser.
Having the paid version of Astro file manager and the E10i's (latest FW, unrooted) original web browser.
Is there a way to open HTML-files from the browsers address field. So I can bookmark the file and select it as the start page?
Or is it time to move to other apps?
Would love some help as I really would love to have the same bookmarks in both the comp and the E10i. Also using all links in a HTML-file makes updating easy.
Acessing HTML files from stock web browser adress field
It's too easy. If you already have Astro installed, just point your browser to:
content://com.metago.astro.filesystem/sdcard/yourfile.html
Click to collapse
Now replace "yourfile.html" as you need. To use subdirectories, you just need to add before of "yourfile.html" the respective(s) subdirectory(ies) where is your file "subdirectory1/subdirectory2/yourfile.html".
I hope that helped you.
Sorry my bad english.

[Q] How Can I Bring Back The Package Installer Option On Rooted Nook Tablet???

I am trying to download apps from my rooted Nook Tablet's stock browser as I always do with no issues but now instead of getting the option of app installer or package installer when I click on an a file that I e-mail to myself it just attempts to download without giving me any options and the result is that the download is unsuccessful... I tried restoring the Nook browser to default settings but that doesn't work. How can I bring back the package installer option? How can I download apps again?

i would recommend using dropbox instead. its much more reliable and each apk you download from dropbox, it will automatically go to the installation screen. You can do either that or just transfer them via USB on your computer.
If anything try installing a different browser like Dolphin Browser HD and try using that...
I would swear by Opera Mobile for a browser on the NT. The copy and paste alone, make it worthwhile.

Guerrilla, if you have previously installed Anycut you can do the following.
Create a shortcut to Application settings:
1) Open Anycut
2) Select "New shortcut"
3) Select "Activity"
4) Select "Application settings"
Reset the defaults:
1) Go to your desktop and select the Anycut shortcut (created above)
2) Select "Manage applications"
3) Change the tab (top of screen) to "All"
4) Select "App Installer" from the list
5) Press the "Clear Defaults" button
That will allow you to choose "Package installer" the next time you attempt to open an .apk.
If you have not installed Anycut, there is a way to install an .apk by way of ADB. I don't recall it now and it's too late for me to find it. But, Google may help.

If you have "NT Hidden Settings" or "tgps_launcher" installed (if you are rooted I think you have to have one of these to have been able to enable USB debugging) you can also get to the "Manage Applications" menu. Steps are the same as the post from conundrum768, but you do not need anycut to do it.
Thanks. With Dolphin I am having no issues. I will also try DropBox to see if I like that better.

I'm using Dolphin now but the copy and paste feature doesn't work for me. When I long press a word I do get the the little options window with the select text option but when I click on select text the little window disapears and nothing else happens... I'll try Opera Mobile to see what happens...

opera mobile works amazingly using copy and paste, but honestly that is the only thing that opera has over dolphin...
I'm using Opera now and it is a great browser. I really appreciate the cut, copy, & paste.

open a file tapping on it!

hi guys, the problem i have is this:
i'd like to open *.epub file attached to an email (or if i find it in the system file manager), just tapping on it,(like IOS do) and even if i've the app that can open this file (i've installed moon+reader and alkido) under file like the *.epub appear only the button 'info' and if i tap on it, it says 'no app for this file' .
this problem is for all the ebook files epub/mobi/ecc...ecc.. and rar archives!
another question :
how can i open the book i've already bought in google play books?!
it seems it can open books only if you download it from the 'play books store'.
i find a "solution" even if it is not really what i expect, in some file manager ("Root Explorer", "ES Gestore File" and "X-plore") you can choose tha app that have to open the file, but they didin't memorize that setting, and all the time you wanna open that file, you have to do a long tap on it and than choose 'open with' and than the app you want to use!
sorry for my english!
i hope i'd been able to explain my problem!(and to find a solution)
Try uninstalling aldiko and the other book readers then reinstall them.
When you've done this open aldiko and search your epub file, it will add to your book shelf!
but it will not find an ebook attached to an email!
even if i unistall and reinstall the ebook readers!

youll have to save the attachment from the email first then open it
i use gmail as email manager, and im not even able to save it! i just can tap 'info'
i'd like to find a 'windows like' solution , for this extension use this app!!
and not all the time 'save' than open a specific file manager , find the file and funally open it!it's boring!

[Q] annoying problems retrieving downloads

Using Cyanogen 7.2
1. "Downloads" application (v2.3.7) says there are no downloads. If I use file manager I can navigate to downloads folder and see the files there. I read something saying Downloads application will only display files that were downloaded with the default android browser - is this correct? I use Firefox and will occasionally be using the light version of Opera.
2. Workaround if question in 1 is correct would be to create a shortcut to the downloads folder on home page, using file manager. However, the file managers I've tried "File Manager" built into 7.2, and "Open Manager" apparently don't allow shortcuts to be created.
Is there another open source file manager that allows shortcuts to be added to home page?
Would really appreciate any help with this, thanks
I know es file explorer offers this,,, and is quite awesome,,, not sure about compatibility on cm7 but i would think it's fine

[Q] How do I open HTML files on MicroSD Card in Chrome?

Verizon Galaxy Note 3, up-to-date, stock ROM, not rooted.
I have a 64gb MicroSD card installed, and put a copy of my photography website on it. I find I am unable to figure out a way to open it in Google Chrome.
I used ES File Explorer's FTP function to begin with, to copy files from my website to the card, and this worked beautifully. When I click on the index.html file on the card, the only options offered are HTML Viewer and some text editors. Chrome is not an option (Chrome is the default browser for my phone). I can try "Open as" and choose Chrome, but get the same error message as below.
If I long-press the file, and select Properties, I can copy the (full) Path for the file, but when I paste this into Chrome's URL bar, it won't open:
Access to the file was denied
"The file at file:///storage/extSdCard/PhotoWebsite/index.html is not readable. It may have been removed, moved, or file permissions may be preventing access"
I have searched quite a bit, and tried various addresses, including localhost, localhost/mnt, content:, etc., etc., but nothing seems to work.
Ultimately I want to have a Bookmark in Chrome where I can view my website offline when necessary, but this seems to be more complex than would appear necessary.
Any help appreciated.
Seriously? Is there no way to accomplish what should be a fairly basic task: for a browser to open up an html file???
