US..ONLY..So after an extensive research ...I bought the biggest Smartphone I can get...An 8 inch screen phone with a good battery life. For starters, here is what I found out...
Huawei has several models that are very confusing and even their customer service were not that much informative. models I have encountered are the following:
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 823 L - 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage (Limited Bands for LTE but 4G speeds were fast enough for my use, got it from ebay)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 821 L - 1 GB RAM and 8 GB or 16 GB Storage options (More bands for LTE but 1 GB of RAM only)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 821 W - 1 GB RAM and 16 GB storage option (I think the W stands for WIFI...this I cannot confirm)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Mediapad - 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage from gethuawei website...out of stock as of this writing)
Huawei T1 8 Mediapad - 1 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage
This one has 4.4 for Android OS...I do not know if http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...ot-huawei-mediapad-t1-8-0-pro-lte-t1-t3262608
has found a way to upgrade to Lollipop and remove bloatwares.
personally, the hardware is decent and battery life is great. I used it for 1 day and end fo the day still had 50% of battery life. I do need to have big pants though. Is there anyone trying to develop an updated OS for this system?

Nope nobody is developing anything to this device... Not even Huawei I guess... BTW after root bloatware can be easily removed...
Too bad...

Too Bad, this is a good device and the battery life is good for a phone with an 8 inch screen. It is also good for those who have problems with vision and not wanting to be bringing 2 devices for travels.
I may have to learn programming to see if I can update this...
I have the MediaPad T1 8.0 Pro and it has the best radio/modem for T-Mobile coverage. It even covers their HSPDA+ 750 MhZ band which only a few phones cover; this is the band that T-Mobile calls the "building buster" for its ability to penetrate most buildings. So yeah for all that.. I'm now waiting for an 8-inch phablet that's octo-core and features Lollipop or Marshmallow. So far I have been unable to find one..
So which one of the above did you get? 823L, 821L, or the one from Gethuawei website?...i m like you impressed with the build but needs a pure Android OS to maximize it's potential.
A have the pro8 t1-821L its rootable and bloatware can be removed this way I have also unlocked the bootloader but there is no custom recovery or ROM which is a damn shame because it's nice bit of kit a can watch movies all night long on it and still not need to charge it also am not locked to EE either so if any devs r reading this post please help this phablet out? cheers
Agree

I would have wanted the 821L also but there were no 2GB available anywhere. Only 1 GB. But even with my 823L and connecting at 4G, the speed is negligible in our area which is Central Florida. I get to watch Netflix, and Youtube also with not much lag. And I do not have to squint from a small screen. Agree, also that if anyone can build a custom ROM that's plain Android Lolllipop would be nice.
Would a T1 8 Cutom ROM work for the T1 8 Pro?

The page you linked is not good. The download links are there just to make you send money. Currently there are no custom recovery for huawei t1 8.0 neither to t1 8.0 pro without that installing custom roms are not really convenient. And also I wasn't able to find any custom rom especially on XDA, so I'm pretty sure thereare no "hints" on xda as the page says....
Huawei MediaPad T1 8.0 Pro GSM Unlocked 4G LTE US
Yes I do agree with everyone here. It is a very great device and a lot of bang for your buck plus more. The great thing about it is that you can basically make it however you want it. I manually updated mine to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Which took some time because Huawei is a very new brand and I had to get used to there EmotionUI. Which didn't take long because its Android too. Just without the app drawer. So its kind of ahead because Android N is going that direction from what I hear. Also after rooting and installing BusyBox I tried to install xPosed. But the Huawei device wouldn't take it because they already have there own framework. So I started to tinker more with it and found out that yes indeed they have framework already. That's why it reads a message error when trying to install xPosed and it says something about xPosed not being compatible. I believe it has something to do with their EmotionUI. Not sure though because that's my first Huawei experience. The device is really solid though. Resolution can be tweaked and the display looks so gorgeous then. Values for everything can be tweaked to make the OS run liquid smooth and fast with very little noticeable lag or hiccups. Also the volume values can change as well giving it a more premium sound. Camera resolution was turned up along with high quality pictures. So the pics stayed sharp looking. Also when some values are entered it gives the gaming experience so much more life through the CPU and the GPU. Rendering gets way better too. Also changing the data values gives it more LTE speed too. Along with other values that make the browser loading times instantly. Even when being on the mobile data network seems like you would be connected to WiFi. It saves a lot of data too. And the battery is amazing. I'm trying to remember what other tweaks worked perfect for it and it ran with no problems. Oh yes it can multi task with up to four things going on. I got the app where you can, watch YouTube and Google something. And watch something on eBay all in different windows at the same time. It got warm but handles it very well. You should overclock it and have the battery set on smart mode. Oh yes and change the font. I had Disney font on it and went to a more modern font look. I'll let y'all know what else I did if I can think of anymore things. Just reply I will come back to this forum. It is my most favorite device of all at the moment. And Huawei is so new too.

So sorry the link is not working...I guess it's up to this thread if we can have enough people to put our thought and reviews together about this device. As of today, I started looking at battery life, Pulled out the charger at 7 AM, Now its 7 Pm and I still at 70%.

Can we use a T1 10 Pro Rom for this device? Any of our XDA programmers chime in...?
So I just bought a Huawei ascend mate 7... finished using the tablet phone as I am almost done with my school... It was a nice piece of hardware and convenient in not having to bring two devices... But now I need mobility so I will be selling this one soon on eBay. If only it had a good following to install a updated os ....

Hi guys.
So, if you've read the title, you'll know that I currently have a Honor 8 that I love, except for one thing. GOD. DAMN. EMUI. Build is great, camera is great, battery life is good, it's fast, snappy, etc... But I can't stand EMUI anymore. Late notifications, weird scrolling animations, rare security updates and, most of all, Honor has still not released the source code, which prevents devs from making a stable Custom ROM. LineageOS has been in the works for months and it works quite well, but it randomly reboots every now and then, and it won't be fixed until the source code has been released, which might be.. Never.
So, I've decided to sell it (it can still go for a decent price, I've had 305€ -$330- offers, but I have to wait to get a new phone since I don't have a backup) and go for a RN4, probably the best value for that price, that I ordered on AliExpress for about $150, shipping included.
I've seen that there are quite a lot of AOSP ROMs for the RN4 (Snap version), but are they stable enough for a daily driver ? Does the fingerprint scanner work? How is battery life? And, most of all, are you guys happy with it so far?
Since they are quite hard to get in France (people don't like to import from China), I can easily sell it for $200 if I don't like it, but I'd like your opinion on it
Thanks !
The AOSP roms are still sometimes buggy. And the camera quality is terrible. Get the oneplus 3 or 3t. The only reason id recommend a RN4 snapdragon is battery life. Trust me, the camera is terrible compared to the honor 8.

I've been on Nougat for a while now (since it was released a few months ago), the look of the launcher is a bit more stock, but the behavior of some stuff is still, well... Not great. For example some notifications show up late, if at all, lockscreen notifications are limited to one line, they don't show up on the lockscreen at all if you have a theme installed...
I use a stock Android looking theme, but yeah, I'm not a fan of the interface, it's driving me crazy.
On the other hand, I've using MIUI for a while now. I had it back when it was first released on the first Galaxy S back in 2011, then on my Nexus 4, then on my Mi3... Plus, now that there are stock ROMS available..
Are you comfortable in your own skin? Is your phone comfortable in its skin? Rate this thread to express how you deem the skin on the Honor 8 Pro. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it adds just the right amount of features, it's visually pleasing, and overall it's additive to the experience. If this is a Nexus phone (you didn't think we hand-wrote all of these prompts, did you?) then use this rating to indicate how the latest version of Android looks to you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I like EMUI5 and 5.1, but there are still many little quirks and sub-optimal menu navigation. Example: Cannot set data cycle period. Not all data cycle starts on 1st of the calendar month. Example 2: Power button options. Wish there are more options there like Mute, Airplane mode, etc. To mute phone via volume, it requires 2 clicks - 1st one is press and hold till volume is 0 then another cllick to turn on MUTE.
I am so far loving the emui but one thing is continuously bugging me that when using quick reply function through notification panel, I have to specially click the text to reply right there.

No double tap to wake and no double tap to sleep. These are core features. Missing in this phone!
The latest edition of EMUI actually seems pretty good when compared to it's predecessor. As you have the option of enabling the App Drawer.
If only EMUI decides for a cleaner look.
Ok with this.
Emui = good .
UI has evolved much as have seen all KK, LP, MM,Nougat on Honor phones and definitely EMUI 5 is a big plus (not exceptional though for a stock android lover)
emui is very good.love it on this phone
Emui 5 is good, but as Sony Xperia ex-user, I think xperia launcher are more fluid and practical....lucky me found working latest xperia launcher for this phone! :good::victory:

I love EMUI 5. Nicest skin there is out there on Android.
waiting for emui 6 for this device
EMUI 5.1 does the job.
EMUI is the user interface that comes on installed Honor and Huawei phones. EMUI features Huawei Home, phone manager, themes, media apps, and is heavily baked in to the entire system UI. While EMUI has a lot of great features to offer (Screen recording, gesture controls, camera app ect.) many people have serious complaints about it.
For a long time, EMUI has been considered one of the more negative aspects of getting an Honor or Huawei device. Over the years EMUI has evolved to be much better and now hosts a great selection of valuable features.
I love this phone so far, and I actually think the camera app is good, but I love my brother's pixel camera app. Is there a generic APK that would work on this or would it have to be built specifically for this phone? I am coming from a Moto G5 plus, so this camera is night and day better.
I stopped buying nice phones, because of the work I do, I break the screen or the battery life degrades to the point I need a new phone every year, and I don't like paying a lot of money for phones. I use my phone for internet, email, a handful of news apps and a camera.
Thanks in advance.
Yes go to the Nokia 7 plus forum, there's a thread which will let you know the 3 you can install 2 are based on 6.1 and 1 on 5.3.. They all work great, it all depends on the quality your looking for.. I myself am running the latest MGC release and arnova 5.3 beta 2..

I am using V8.3build-5.1.018.177624777 and its a really nice app. I am looking forward to a stable 6.version with night vision (or whatever its called).
I got this one working on a 7.1. GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1. I didn't really get to evaluate picture quality but the app worked. A couple of others I had tried either wouldn't open or froze.
I have notifications enabled but they disappear after a few seconds, is that normal behaviour?
MIUI version stable 10.0.5.0(ODTMIFH) Global version.
Yes. They disappear and then the clock appear.

This is really weird, more coming from Android One... Why have a small notch if you don't take advatage of the remaining space?
I'm even regretting a bit of the purchase, seeing that Honor 10 doesn't have that behavior in addition to having already Android 9 Pie. I just hope that the roms like Pixel Experience or Lineage 16 stabilize fast, and in a month or two make the change of Rom.
It is very good mobile at a great price, but details such as these greatly impede the experience.
I did some reading about the lack of notifications. There are a lot of complaints about this, but I think they will come. If your phone is unlocked you can install a custom notification file, that will bring back your notifications. For notifications in the Official Stable version we will have to wait.

My wife has the 8 Lite but I have a Poco and the notch os huge. Even being like that it's possible to adjust thing to put the clock and the three notifications icons there. The 8 Lite has so much space.
