Android 5.0 on Asus ME181C K011 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, I am currently in the WW-3.1.23.191 firmware with android 4.4.2 and I would like to upgrade to lollipop, using OTA I do not receive the update, you know where I can get the android 5 for this tablet and install it by recovery?
Thank you very much in advance

Well if you haven't gotten the OTA at this point ASUS is probably not going to send one to you most likely because they stopped supporting that tablet officially. I would recommend getting a custom recovery, custom rom, and a special lollipop kernel for your device (if one exists).

Could you recommend me some custom recovery or some custom rom?

cant find any android 5.0 lolipop or any custom rom like cyanogenmod for my asus memopad 8 ME181C-K011

This tablet is a good performer, quad core and would be a good candidate for a custom ROM. I have no idea why there are no custom ROMs for it, surely it should easily cope with Marshmallow if not Nougat.
I have been looking for a more up to date custom ROM for my ME181C for at least 18 months, but nothing.
Surely some of you ROM modifier experts can save us from obsolescence hell here!

Is it even possible to build a room for it? It has an Intel CPU.
I'm a little hopeless about this and I always get annoyed with its custom stock.

here's the TWRP recovery mode https://drive.google.com/open?id=1BiSPms0AsYsEis-sUvKQIX-siyagb-Dq
enable debugging option
connect the tab with a pc
start launcher.bat

Is there any way to upgrade to android 5.0?

[Q] How can i return Nexus 4 4.2.2 to stock running 4.4?

I have seen the nexus 4 unroot toolkit, but i need some help.

Update:
I have recently flashed the stock kernel for android 4.2.2, and by my little understanding, all I need to do is get rid of my custom recovery, and then I will be able to upgrade OTA without loosing data.
Is this correct? If so, where do I find stock recovery? Is it the recovery.img file inside the android software zip?
Btw. I couldnt find anything on xda about this.
Please help me out, all help appreciated.

[Q] Stock Android (Lollipop) for Hudl 2 ?

Has anyone tried installing stock Android (Lollipop) on the Hudl 2?
It comes with Android 4.4.2 and it's doubtful that I'll get an OTA update. Stock Android would also be a good way to get rid of the embedded bloatware.

I would also be very interested in getting this :good:
How can we get a stock Android lollipop for it? I want it as well. Because if it's not possible I will return it and ask for a full refund.

Good luck returning it. Unless it is proven faulty, they won't want to know.
With regards to an update, who knows. You cannot, at present, root a hudl2 if you received an ota update.
Tesco have this tablet buttoned down. We all know that root permission gives an android device the opportunity to stretch it's legs. Tesco won't even release any signature code to enable stuff like custom recovery. Pure, stock Android, still requires much information to even begin cooking it. Until sources are released nothing can happen at present. Also bear in mind, this is a UK device and is therefore restricted in the amount of devs willing to support a 'minority' tablet. I'd love to root my hudl2 but the update got me! Every other android device I have is rooted and run custom ROMs. I've even made a couple of ROMs and until we get the source code / access to the locked down boot / access to the signature keys, we are stumped.

[Q] nexus rom for .3.1.0 and later switch to cm11 ?!

Hi everybody,
just unpacked my kindle hdx 7" and it has fireware 13.3.1.0
i have been reading a lot of threads and posts but still have some questions..
as soon as cm11 is completely stable and everything works i want to use it because of android 4.4 but as it might take some time till then i was thinking of getting the nexus rom first and switch later.
till now i just rooted some of my divices so im new to roms and want to have as less hassle as possible
right now i would need safestrap for the nexus rom but ggow was talking about TWRP compatibility with the next version so i think it would be best to wait and then get twrp because it is also necessary for cm11..
first of all i would root after this instruction
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2665683 yes? and does it work with .3.1.0?
then for the current nexus rom i would need safstrap and 13.3.2.4 but how would i get 3.2.4?
does maybe someone have a link i couldnt find anything about it..
but if i want nexus rom >2.0.2 or cm11 i would just need twrp which i could install with no problems with my firmware?
did i miss any step?
sorry for the long text just dont want to brick my kindle
thanks!

No name android phones and CM

Hey guys,
Got on hands noname Chinese android phone with lollipop on board (even though it says 6.0.1 in settings) and MTK6580 quad processor, 3.10.72 kernel
can I somehow put cyanogen rom from another phone?
Yes, find another phone using that chip: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_devices_using_Mediatek_SoCs
Then go here: http://www.needrom.com and find THAT phone(s) and see if there is a custom rom for THAT phone also using the same kernal 3.10/3.12 etc
Download that rom and port it yourself using the boot.img from YOUR phone using this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938
And get it at least booting on your phone, out of loads I've done on MTK phones, 95% boot up first time, 50% of those have no issues, the other 50% have issues with cameras/wifi/video/phone that can be fixed literally with trial and error of swapping files from your stock rom to the new rom, can take hours/days of trial and error or could take minutes.
Have fun
EDIT: try to use a custom rom from a brand you have at least kinda heard of, doogee, walton, infinix...etc to make it more likely to work well.

Thank you for your response!
After few hours of research I have found many ROMs that are applicable for my phone. The thing is, I want it to be and look as close to stock android as possible, and as close to most recent version as well.
But still I have few questions:
1)Am I right by saying that kernel 3.10.72 is suitable only for android 5.x?
2)Is it possible to put android 6.x or 7.x?
3)If it is do I need to ugrade kernel?
4)Is it possible to upgrade kernel?
I really hope it's not too much to ask from you.

Your phone is basically the same as mine, and sadly the kernal has to be the same for every custom ROM, there are no kernel sources so no custom kernels, which means we are both stuck with lollipop
The infinix hot 2 for example, is the same MTK chip and was released with lollipop and kernel 3.10 but then infinix released a stock marshmallow upgrade, with a stock 3.12 kernel so they could get a custom 6.0 rom which im 99% sure we will never get.
If you go here: http://www.needrom.com/author/robneymcplum/ this is me on there, where I have ported the best 5.1.1 roms with our kernel. You will need to port to your phone, which is literally just swapping about 10 files from your stock rom so make a backup of your stock rom or find stock firmware, and get the files from there and use the guide i already posted.
Hope this helps. And if you have never done it, its way, WAY easier than you think it might be

GT-N8000 update

Hello all
I friend of mine donated his Galaxy Tab 10.1 to my son.
Now I need to update to the latest possible firmware. Not even YouTube kids works on the old firmware.
When trying to do OTA upgrade it mentions no upgrade available. I chatted to Samsung support and they suggest using Kies. Sadly this tablet isn't compatible with Kies 3 and I can't seem to locate older versions.
Can anyone assist or guide me in the correct direction
With thanks

If the tablet says that there's no new firmware, then there's no new firmware available.
You could root it, install a custom recovery and flash the latest Android 7.1.1 ROM from decatf if you want.
However, this tablet is getting pretty old by now and youtube just doesn't run super smooth without overclocking (and even then there are no guarantees). If you want my honest opinion, I suggest you look for a second hand Nexus 7 2013. It still runs smoothly today and has a very active developers community.

Yet Kies finds FW. Thanks for your input

Wait a minute.. You have a GT N8000, this forum is for the GT P7500 /7510. Normally the latest Android for your tablet is 4.4.2. If you want to root it you will want to look at the specific forum for your type of tablet.
And a factory reset can sometimes do wonders for the speed of your device, if you don't mind loosing everything on it.
