I just wanted to start by saying that I have no idea how this started happening or even when. Only that it started happening within perhaps the past month or maybe 2 months.
I'm having issues with two apps, BBM and PowerAmp. PowerAmp has this feature where if you plug in your earbuds it will resume your music and if you unplug your earbuds it will pause automatically. In probably the last month or so I've noticed that this has no longer been working from Poweramp even though this has been working since I've had it which is a long long time . I thought maybe the Poweramp service was being closed due to not enough phone memory but I would check and not only was the service running but I also had enough memory.
The interesting thing is that I'm having a similar problem with the BBM app. They have a service that runs which checks for incoming messages and in the recent past it too also stopped working. Both PowerAmp and BBM will work if I have opened the app in the past 5 minutes or so. As an example, if I open PowerAmp and use it a bit, close it, and within the next minute I plug in my earbuds it will resume playback. If I take out my earbuds and wait a long period of time and plug back in then no such luck. The same behaviour is happening with BBM.
Many people have similar issues specifically with BBM but keeping the Persistent Icon in their notification area has solved it. For me, it has not. I followed BBM's support which says to have the Persistent Icon on, check to make sure the app does not have background data restricted, and also to check to make sure that background data in general is not restricted. All checks are good. The other interesting thing is that when I switch from data to Wifi all of a sudden I will receive all of my BBM messages, so it seems that the service must be running I'd think?
I don't know if it's a coincidence between both apps or not. Any suggestions or things to try in order to get to the deeper root cause? I have a Nexus 4 and I'm on version 4.4.2 and I should have the latest version of both apps installed. I'm not rooted or anything. It's just a stock Nexus 4 from Google.
Thanks.
For a couple weeks now after I navigate to somewhere and then end navigation, the application opens again randomly and tries to resume navigation. I have tried to clear it out of the recent apps list as well as force closing the app. After a force it will not reopen until I start the maps application again. Once the maps app is opened it will resume randomly opening.
I am on the Nexus 6p, running 7.1.1 with the January patches. This problem also happened with the December patches.
Maps Version 9.44.3
It just started happening to me this morning. I'm on the 5X and the latest patch. Damn this is really annoying. Any ideas?

Install task killer app from play store
In app, go to settings>ignored apps
Add all apps to ignore list except google maps
Now again go to settings>auto kill
And set it to 15 sec
Done
Also push the thanks button if I helped

Same thing here on a 6p but marshmallow. Driving me a little nuts
Been noticing the same thing for the last few days or so.
*me too*
On Nexus 5 marshmallow. Noticed it for the past 2-3 days or so.
same problem on Nexus 6p
same here on nexus 6p. It is starting to get unusable as it starts shouting directions from my pocket randomnly or it boots me from whatever app I am using on the phone.
Same issue here on a Nexus 5 with 6.0.1. I think it started when I used Google Now to start navigating.
Moto X (2013)
I'm having the same problem on my Moto X (2013) Developer Edition (and rooted) with the Resurrection Remix ROM. It's been happening for about a week now. It seems to be completely random as to when it starts up.

Yeah this happens for me too, on Nexus 6P on 7.1.1.
I'm wondering if it's really a Google Now issue though as I use voice actions to start navigation a lot, and the random navigations all seem to repeat the last voice navigation. Maybe Google Now sends the previous navigation intent to Google Maps.
I'm using beta version of the Google app.
Do other people here use Google Now to start navigation?
Same issue for a few weeks here on my Galaxy S7. I reboot and it goes away for a few days, but keeps coming back.
I agree that it seems to be voice search. I'm not 100%, but I've had a suspicion.
Also using Google Now Launcher.

Ermagherd this is SO annoying. I also use voice navigation a lot. OnePlus 3 here .
Me too, Moto X, been doing it a couple of weeks. My phone will be sitting on the desk next to me with its screen off and suddenly it's trying to tell me how to get to the last page I navigated to.. often wherever I already am.. I use Google now all the time, will keep an eye on if that makes a difference..
It might well be the Google now launcher thing.
I had it launch on its own again after ending a navigation that I had started with 'ok Google'.
It launched itself again.
Then I stopped the navigation, and did the task switcher thing and swiped to close the Google now window as well. After that it didn't launch again.
That was just one try. So no real confirmation. But maybe this can be a workaround until this is fixed.
Moto-Z Play
Same thing (maps entering navigation mode at random times) has recently started happening to me. Really frustrating.
Like suggested by JamesChao, I always start navigating using voice.
It's definitely an issue with Google Now voice search. Rather than killing a process, you can temporarily resolve this issue by either performing another voice search, or clicking the Google Now search bar on your homescreen and performing any other search. Obviously the issue will return next time you do another "Navigate" voice command.
Moto X 2015 latest updates checking in, same issue, i concur that its a Google Now issue.
Same - LG G4 Android 6.0
I have the same issue and have for about the last month.

Same problem here, nexus 5x. See that there's a software update, hopefully this'll fix te problem. Solution mentioned above seems to be working for now, but still annoying.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tablet S2 running Android 6.0. Recently I noticed that whenever I come out of the lock screen, after the device has been left alone for a few minutes, that google maps has launched. I am not sure how to figure out what other app might be calling maps, as I doubt if it is launching itself. Is there a way of determining what app is calling maps, or if it is in fact launching itself. I don't remember making any changes to the system settings or downloading anything that would call the app. This is very annoying having to close out of maps each time I come out of the lock screen.
Same thing happening on my Note 3. Perhaps a bug in the latest update?
hi folks, I have a Mate 20x bought off ebay (should be Chinese version)
I am in US
I have a big issue, which is the notification from my home security apps (ring/arlo)
1. the notification setting for these two apps is often changed anonymously by the system, thus I often miss notifications
2. there is no pushed notification shown at locked screen, although there is sound alert. I need to drag down to see what notification has come up
3. when phone is switched off at night and switched back on in the mornign, no notification from ring/arlo for last night would show up. I will need to open the apps and check history.
This has been a concerning issue for me as today I missed the postman who has an important package. Did anyone has a solution?
also a minor issue, google map would not speak street name, and google assistant could not be summoned at lock screen. But compared with the notification issue, these are more minor.
I have the same issue with the ring app. I talk to support and the say the app its not fully compatible with android 9.0. I have and via twitter the say the 360 security system is blocking something. But I can't disable the app.
Huawei says that they cant help because each model in this Chinese one it's made for other kind of service. The I don't find any logical explanation in that. I have because that means no one in China can have a functional ring service.
I think this it's an ring app issue but they don't care about this issue.
Did you remove Ring from battery optimization? I have ring, and most of the time it works. Its just i cannot assign a ringtone provided by ring, it has to be stock huawei ones..
Hi !
Just got this great device 4 days ago. It had Android 9.0 , used it like that for 1 day and then I have updated to Android 10 (EMUI 10) over the air. After one more day, I did a factory reset. I have logged in with my gmail and huawei account. All went well.. but now I have a problem (maybe feature) that every time a new irrelevant notification appears, the notification sound pops up. For example : I open an incognito page in chrome , the notification is in the notification window and the phone makes the sound. If I complete a background download from an app, the notification sound appears with the notification in the notification window. If I download a file from Google Drive, Chrome, etc. during the download, it goes into a loop notification sound for every % completed. If I transfer something from my phone to my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier, the notification sound can be heard. I know I can turn off the notification sound manually from every app but it wasn't like this until I have factory reset my phone. Can you please tell me how to turn off the notification sound on stuff that is irrelevant ? This was not present on Android 9 and not even when I have updated to Android 10 for a day.
Thank you so much in advance !
When you searched the web for "how to manage notifications on Android 10" what parts did you have trouble with?
Only asking so no one has to repeat what you've already tried.
