See this thread here to get your technical answer: https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-v10/help/h901-rom-h900-t3338402
So much for converting my AT&T LG V10 to a T-Mobile variant.

Yes. Works great.
Post a picture.
This might be a silly question, but it can't flash kernels can it?
It installed and I did a backup which took some time. I've no sources or anything. While it seems to work, I have no idea what else may come with it. But it works.

If this isnt fake than yes it could flash kernels, we don't have kernel source from LG yet though
Although, I'm not flashing this. until one of the people who made root a possibility points us to a recovery I won't be flashing one

Sounds Promising! I'll wait to mess with a while until I see more 985 users report good things. :good:
So I wonder if GooManager with work then

I've flashed a font and made a backup. It works. However, I'd at least wait until a name you know says "yes, this is safe".

From the looks of this, you just followed instructions from this thread here now, even though this appears to have worked, I would not suggest going through with actually flashing anything or making backups.
The reason is partitions are different across some of the G3 devices and it would not be a smart idea to risk flashing something to a wrong partition, especially since there are 16 and 32 gb models.
With that, it looks like there is a bypass on the VZW model which is a good sign for future use.
so bootloader is unlocked??

Yes we can. This is no different than flashing a custom ROM using safestrap on a Samsung product. I don't think you guys realize how big this is. While its not a boot loader unlock, we will be able to flash custom Roms based on factory ROM.
Hoping we get Aosp soon.
I bought a new LG G5 AT&T phone from B&H photo. I used it in cricket wireless network. It works ok, but the firmware is old (March), the tried software update, but it said software is up-to-date. Is there any way I can trigger firmware update?
Kdz? Maybe it be easier

Go to root section of this site for LG G5. Go to autoprime page lgup and kdz page. Read directions and ask questions on that page.

I was wondering if it would be at all possible to port the stock camera app from the H830 for use on AOSP roms, and if so, how would one go about doing so.

Hey, folks!
I'm at the end of my provider contract and they offer me a new contract including a LG G5 SE. On several websites I read that its not possible to root it, which is necessary.
Can someone confirm that?
Greetings and Thanks!

Also the us unlocked version RS988 is now officially unlockable and has TWRP and root but no current ROM development.
So h850 EU open market, t mobile h830 and us unlocked rs988 are only unlocked and rootable g5s for now.

Thanks, mate. LG really sucks atm. I've chosen the Huawei P9 as my next phone.
rootlinux is back with another one.
This is built using Aroma installer.
Easily switch between 3.1.1.0 H918 for stock based roms.
Easily switch to 3.0.2-1 to flash AOSP roms.
Test it out and see what you think.
First build is right here.

Impossible, not enough people have your phone for anyone to develop flash & root.
Nobody has ever done it (besides kingroot, which you updated and it no longer works).
Lesson #1 if you want to root and modify any device, DONT UPDATE!
Lesson #2 If you really must have root on your phone save up and buy a LG V20, then when you post here, it will be on topic and in the appropriate place.
Or at least pick a device you know you can flash and root in advance.
End of story...

It happens, part of the learning experience. Now you know...
1. Make a list of a few devices that you would like.
2. Research here before buying anything, to see if it can be done.
3. Never update, newer updates can result in preventing exploits that you need to root/flash.
Is this only for h918? Or could we use it for LS997 also?
