I'm about the replace the screen on my old Tab Z and was wondering if anyone has had any success in doing this?
As I understand it, the glue is only around the exterior border of the screen and can be melted with a hairdryer, is that right?
If you could point me in the right direction for a decent tutorial as well, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for the links.
I'd seen the first video, but it doesn't cover removal of the screen. I think I'll just give it a go and see how I go. I've done a few Samsung screens so I should be ok.

It's the cheaper one you'll ever find, i haven't tested it myself so i can't be sure about the quality of the item, but everything i've ordered from dealextreme has arrived to me ok.

I'm a simple amateur. Please, don't criticize my rustical methods. I did the best I could.
I could'nt separate the screen from the housing: too tight!! (I bought the two pieces and I replaced both)
Hope it helps someone

Nice stuff
I'm gonna follow your video as a guide next time I change the housing.
Thanks!
How about Dust isn't there a risk of having dust stuck between the digitizer and lcd? isn't it the same risk as in aplying screen protection. I tried several time aplying screen protector but never succeed without having dust particle stuck in between even though it's allmost unnoticable.
What's your experiance in this ?

That's what I feared and that's why I put on the gloves and I was careful to clean the internal part of the screen before the assembly.
It may be a very small particle of dust, but I can't really see it.
Very nice tutorial. I guess i have to change my digitizer too sometime in the future because it has a defect (these newton rings) and i dont know how long it will work with this defect. I'm sure your videos will help me.

The device works ok. At the beginning I had to realign the screen. Few days ago I realized that the screen had the oil stain (the device was working perfectly), and I made it disappear with a tape.
what if the part I purchased doesn't come with the metal surrounding. Only the glass do you use glue to stick it on the chassi ? any tips on this issue before taking my phone apart ? or you recomend to send back the glass and get the whole front? Thank for the video it must have taken you some time to edit.

I heard that many people has broken the original digitizer trying to separate it from the housing.
That's why I bought both pieces.
But I also heard that is possible to separate them, being very careful. But it's a risk. And I heard too that you can use any kind of glue, including the one we used at school.
I hope that I have understood your question.
Thanks for you greatefulness!
very usefull tutorial
I have bought me a touch diamond 2, with a pretty damaged housing
now I dare to try to replace it, thanks to you're tutorial
First, thank you for your useful guide, but i missed something.
What about the light sensor cover (it's at the opposite side of the power LED). Is it included in the new housing? Because i didn't find it on the new housing that I bought (may be because it is not an OEM?)
Thanx in advance!

How did you realign the screen? I tried to use the calibration utility but I it goes into an endless loop. tried to re-assemble but got the same result
Any ideas what might be wrong?

Sorry, voxter.
I realign the screen using the app included in settings (Settings > System > Screen > Align Screen).
I read in other thread that you tried without success (just endless bucle). I had endless bucle too in another ROM. But after two or three times I made a soft reset and the screen begun to work perfectly.
Now I have a Tess ROM and only asked me to repeat it twice. After that, the screen works perfectly.
It's all that I know about it. Hope it helps
Hello to all,
First of all i wanna thank you for any help in advance.
I have a mentioned phone for a litle while but the problem appeared when Xperia fell on the ground. Now my mobile looks like it went tough a war.
I decided i will change the housing, but i have few question.
When you buy a new housing is there the front screen protector, or this is allready the screen? i needto know if sony xperia housing has someting over the screen or is it the display allready?
And if this is changable i would like someone to describe the procedure.
You can se pictures below. All the dots on the display are deep dents.

Hello.
Can someone upload a video showing how to change the housing cover of the Xperia S, or tell me how to do it?
I dropped my phone and now its got a chip on one of its corners which I want to remove immediately.
I have damaged my xperia s too
i know where to buy a housing kit from but, im too scared to just dive in and dismantle my device... I have had a look at the disassembly guide but it doesnt really talk about talking the screen off or anything.
Really interested in this please get back to us :fingers-crossed::good:

Thanks, that would be helpful.
It says in the manual, when we remove the bottom cap, "scrap, not to be reused". Is it talking about the bottom cap? Will I have to buy a new cap once I remove it ?
U can reuse it but be careful not to broke it

Love my phone but had large phone in small pockets and upshot is it fell out and I accidentally drop kicked it across the room.
The plastic piece under the power and volume buttons broke and created a disconnect with the power (constant restarts and even booted into safe mode) so I had to remove it to stop the plastic from continuing to jam the power button.
I have ordered a replacement front/sides for the phone but searched high and low for a fix-it or tear down video.
Anyone know how I can get the old one off and the new one on?
Any Videos around?
The phone is usable but I would prefer it whole. Can anyone help?
Cheers.

Thank you very much for this manual which assisted me in the teardown of my Z Ultra.
I broke the screen in my pocket, glass and digitizer were broke making the phone useless.
The only thing missing was taking the coverglass/lcd off the frame, seems Sony replaces screen and frame as one unit.
I used one of the various guides for Xperia Z, heat and prying tool, and im now ready to put a new screen in, trying to find the best deal now.
