Its not only Smart Switch, its also Kies. I installed the s6edge USB drivers, i have no room on my phone. So my phone is just stuck on the Samsung Galaxy s6 edge screen. When i plugin my USB it kinda connects, and also on my device manager screen thingy it says Samsung ANDROID. But i cant find my phone at all, its rooted and all but i want to install a new room
http://windowsreport.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-windows-10/ tried using this guide, still not working.
Says unspecified SAMSUNG_ANDROID under devices and Printers.............. This is driving me mad
Have u tried odin? Download and install odin. Any version over 3.10.7 will do. Uninstall samsung kies and smart switch. Download samsung drivers and install drivers after u have uninstalled kies, smart switch and rebooted. U can find many manuals how to use odin with google.

I have an AT&T Galaxy S2 and a Galaxy Tab 2. I rooted both using different methods. Now my computer wont install the drivers for them and Kies will no longer see them either. Any ideas?
I don't know much about kies, but I do know it is a tool made for stock firmware, so maybe it detects that the devices are rooted.
As far as your computer installing the drivers, I guess you mean USB driver. Look in add/remove programs dialog for "Samsung USB driver for mobile phones." If present you should be set. If not, you can manually install it by downloading from the Samsung site, or on XDA.
usually when we root a phone kies do not work, but there is other option to transfer files like airdroid an app you can download in play store or you can install a custom ROM like shostock that works great and detect the drives automatically for connect the phone to the computer.
I did search the forums already and tried everything. It's a samsung s3 GT-i9300, i'm trying to root it and I have the rom as well as odin 3.09, 3.04 and 1.85. I've tried windows 8 and windows 7 laptops, i've tried windows 7 computer as well. I installed kies and I then installed samsung usb driver 1.5.45.0 as well. The problem I'm having is that odin doesn't pick up the phone. I've also tried 2 different usb cables. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to try get the computer to pick up the phone? I do set the phone on download mode everytime, since the phone is bricked and I can't get it past the I9300 text, i don't even get as far as the samsung logo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Not sure what the deal is. I've tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times, resetting the PC, nothing is helping. The PC keeps displaying it as "Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". I've tried uninstalling those drivers but as soon as I plug it back in it comes up with the same thing.
Galaxy S6 and S6 edge don’t work with Kies anymore, use Samsung Smart Switch instead.

Isn't Smart Switch just for migrating data? What about the other Kies functionality?
I've been curious about this myself. I backed up all of the data on my old phone with Kies3, traded in for an S6 Edge, and now I can't access any of it because I didn't know Kies wasn't working with S6... what the hell Samsung? At least let us access our backups.
Hi everybody! I tried installing an official firmware without bloatware for my sister's Ace. It entered into bootloop and does not go over the logo of Samsung and Orange. I tried reset factory, delete cache etc., without success. When I tried to install something via Odin, the computer did not recognize it. I have tried on two different Windows with Odin and a Mac with JOdin, without success. It does not work with Kies as well. It seems that the computers don't recognize a mobile plugged, even trying with tdifferent cables, USB ports, Windows and Mac, etc. Any idea/alternative?
Thank you very much!!
There are two cases when my Galaxy Ace was not recognized on my computer.
1. Which version of the odin you tried to use to restore Galaxy Ace?
- Since Galaxy Ace supports "Odin Multi Downloader 4.xx", instead of normally known Odin. There might be confusion between two different versions of the odin, since they look almost identical. However, the way you can find difference is that "Odin Multi Downloader" have "OPS" button that you can load ops file and another have "PIT" button that you can load pit file. Since JODIN have "PIT" button, it is unlikely to work for flashing Galaxy Ace. (And Jodin requires PIT file, not OPS.)
2. Are you using Windows 8 or older?
- This could be an issue you have encounter, since most computers nowadays have Windows 10, 8.1, or 8. I experienced this problem when I tried to flash my Galaxy Ace I dug out from desk. When I connected Galaxy Ace in download mode to Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 computer, it said "USB Not Recognized". When I actively used Galaxy Ace back in 2012, I had Windows 7 and was able to flash Galaxy Ace successfully. I posted the solution if you have a Mac Here with VirtualBox. You also may try using computer with Windows 7 or older.
I hope these information were helpful for your successful recovery of Galaxy Ace.
Hello there,
I am in the throws of trying to root my S6 edge (want to play using Magisk etc), but something just never happens when I try to do this through Odin.
I have the phone connected, everything seems fine with the file I am trying to use as an image, but nothing happens on the phone end at all. I get Succeeded 0 / Failed 0 as a response in Odin.
I have the drivers from Samsung installed. I even installed Kies. And I think this is where the problem is. I don't think the phone is being recognised. I have debug mode over USB on, but I just think the phone isn't being found by Odin.
Do any of you have some tips for me?

Please be sure that Kies is not running (even not in background) when you run Odin. It won't work then.
In the past I only installed Kies to get the Samsung drivers installed. Afterwards, I immediately uninstalled Kies in order to have no trouble with Odin, and anyway if I've Odin I've no personal need for Kies.

I didn't have Kies installed the first time, and nothing worked. But even with Kies, I still can not get the PC to recognise any device. It is frustrating, because as far as I can see I have done everything right.
No matter what I do, I can not get the S6 to appear in Odin at all.
Further to this, despite having the drivers installed from Samsung, freshly today, the USB fails to be recognised (this is the issue). So I need to work out how to overcome this. Any suggestions?
More precisely, in the Device Manager, under USB, the failed USB states: "Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".
*Update*
I did a factory reset on the S6 and still, no good. The device doesn't want to connect to any port in any computer with any cable.
