Does boot loop issue still happen? Can I buy now? Which model?
I am extremely afraid of this disaster. Buy it or not? Any recommendation? thanks
I've never had a bootloop issue with my G5, unlike my G4.
Sent from my Sprint LG G5 using Tapatalk.
Only 2015's flagships LG G4 & LG V10 early batch motherboards are prone to bootloop. The later batches might be free of bootloop. LG will definitely repair for free. Now 2016's flagships LG G5 and LG V20 have no bootloop .

It seems to happen with root xposed for some reason. But without xposed it doesn't. Make sure you buy a newer manufacturers version! It will say it on the box.
A lot of people where having problems with GPS and other issues with older versions it seemed.

Well usually you can in person by the box. But sine you order it online can't go that route. Ask the seller or look at the add.

Looks like I'm switching to AT&T guys. Bye T-Mobile, hello AT&T
I wouldn't be surprised if that never happens. It's our L9 and we barely have development.

talk about "being stuck".. last year spend about 2 Grand on personal stuff, now I've have to tolerate this phone for at least 3 more years, hopes on LG 4.4 kitkat update.
Well I'm getting a Nokia Lumia 920 next week or after that, it's getting shipped to me. I don't know what color it is, but I'm excited about being introduced to WP8
I might get the Jolla and go for the true Linux phone without all of this bootloader nonsense.

I've never heard of a Jolla. I'll look it up later.
They have some unboxing and hands on clips on YouTube. The Sailfish os is still new but they are constantly updating. By later this year, it should be all good. A good feature is the ability to install android apps. Not all of the apps work yet but that's why they are updating.

I watched one video of the Jolla phone and I wasn't really thrilled with the phone. But that's just my honest opinion. If you get it, enjoy.
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone in this forum for creating and supporting development of the G2. LG may not support this phone anymore, but this forum holds strong. That said I am investigating potential upgrades for the G2. I would like suggestions. The following phones will not work:
- Phones that don't support Verizon
- Phones without strong developer communities
- Phones released more than a year ago
Thanks everyone!

Your biggest issue will be the Developer support on a Verizon device. Verizon devices tend to see ALOT less development then GSM based devices. If you liked the G2 then why not get the G3 or G4?

With the state of hardware right now any device released within the past 3 years is still a good device. They will handle anything a new device will. Could look at the moto droid, Not really sure what else verizon has to offer really as there is no Verizon in the State I live in.
Even if LG had dropped support before releasing lollipop, the G2 could still handle 99.7% of everything you throw at it smoothly.
Compare the G2 to new devices. You have 1080P which looks great and doesnt drain the battery. 3000mAh battery, more or same as latest devices. Compare snapdragon 800 to 808/810 and you will only see a good difference in benchmarks. 5.2" screen thats neither too big nor small.
LG did great on the G2, if not too great since upgrades to this day still dont appeal.
Enjoy your G2 and buy something else

Yeah but we are not outside xda are we? Lol
OEM updates are not reliable. The OEM could push an update to the carrier but the carrier never release the update to users. This happens more then people know. Verizon and att are well known for doing this.

My only other thought for something fast and not all that big would be the Droid Turbo. Not sure how locked up it is however. When I use to have the old razr we would use safestrap, but never had a true unlocked bootloader....

Non here and i'm using a T-mobile sim.
I'm hoping we get it by the end of the year. I'd hate for it to be something where vzw gets x amount of time exclusivity with updates on the phone.
I purchased the phone on Monday and was quite disturbed to see that the most up to date software is 6.0.1 with July security. That's absurd.

Software channel: retus. Still on 6.0.1 with July security patch
I'm fairly disappointed as well, it's ridiculous how long we've been waiting for nougat. I want to use my daydream view. Not a strong start for this phone's future. If it isn't updated by the return period I'm trading this out for a Pixel.

Damn, I wish Google could have released another Nexus 6P. I loved that thing, but it wasn't daydream compatible. Crap. I really like this phone, but the update situation is just crushing it for me.

I really have no desire to take the official OTA since it updates the bootloader making it impossible to flash custom ROMs. I'm running Nougat with the original bootloader which gives me more options. Of course it required me to unlock the bootloader...
what build do u see ?
in my phone it shows 24.246-20

Social media. Probably twitter, but you'll probably get the stock response of "we're working on it". I've seen a few people ask about it in the Motorola forums.
I guess I just want to know what's taking so long.
Seems like they stopped rolling out Nougat... Possible due to fixing something first. Newly bought units here in Sweden do not get the update either (while mine got it a while back)

Same issue here. No sign of update.
Upon contacting Moto support they said since I am in Pakistan my phone will not update where the update is available for US. Lol.
Bought unlocked Moto Z XT1650-03 from Amazon.
Still on the July 2016 firmware 6.0.1.
Manually trying to update says 'unable to mount external and internal storage' in stock recovery.
I thought I was the only one left behind.
moto bs
no update even if u r in the us
no matter where u are it's the model that gets the updates
though it may take an extra day or two as there is
a q to ensure decent bandwidth

If there were another option then I would, but there really isn't any phone quite like the Moto Z. I wanted a phone for daydream and this one seemed like the best option, and I've already sold my Nexus... Eh, if they mistreat me then I won't buy the next Moto Z, I'll get a Google phone. If Google gets their **** together by then. That damn Pixel, dear god.
Curious to mess around with one and possibly try and find someone to trade their g6 for my pixel.
Nope. Try a T-Mobile store. I went by one yesterday and they had one out.

im on my 3rd v10. i buuy n sell alot as a hobby (and a chance to fiddle with many different devices) i bought my current v10 2 days ago. $130 cash w/ box original charger 3 batteries and case on offerup.. for $200? idk maybe but it better be never touched and with some serious accessories.. but all in all u defenitly get $200 worth of hardware! just beware the image retention and learn to conserve battery..
