Hey guys. I got a phone from a friend and decided to perfom a soft reset just for the heck of it. Well unbeknownst to me, that phone was rooted. And well. You know the rest. Anyways. I looked into ways to fix it and there are so many different methods out I just get confused trying to do any of them I have a computer with Windows seven at my disposal. I have searched and couldn't really find a forum specific to my device but any help would be appreciated. The person who rooted this phone did not set up any recovery on the phone (sigh) but I can get it into a mode where it says "firmware update" and the download is stuck at zero cuz obviously there isn't anything being downloaded. Any help would be appreciated :good:
Actually I just remembered I wasn't trying to reset it I was trying to update it.

Hello everyone,
I've searched everywhere I can think of to figure out how to solve my problem, and I assume the answer is hiding in an obscure part of an earlier thread on these fora. I was able to root my L9 P760 running Android 4.1(Jelly Bean) and from there naively assumed I could flash the recovery using ClockworkMod. After rebooting I've been getting the infamous "Security Error" screen. I've been able to get the "S/W Upgrade" screen, but that's as far as I got. I believe this means the bootloader is locked.
I followed a lot of instructions I found including using fastboot via omap4boot(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119090) and the offline kdz flash(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344), but without luck. Fastboot would cause the phone to reboot, losing the "S/W Upgrade" screen and the kdz method would stall at 4%, leading me to find out that the phone needs to be in the "LG Update" USB mode, which I can't achieve because it won't boot.
I have two Macs running OS X 10.7 which can dual-boot into Windows 7. All software is up to date. I have experience using the command-line.
I hope there's a solution to this, and I hope that posting this here can help others avoid this problem in future.
Thanks in advance,
Pieter
Edit: I finally managed to flash a stock version of recovery, the x-loader and u-boot for Jelly Bean using the fastboot script from here. For those in a similar situation, I set the driver for the OMAP4xxx device which goes under TI devices(or something like that) and then I had to set the driver for a device called LG P4(or something, I didn't take a screenshot). I was then able to use the stock LG Mobile Support Tool, via the "Recovery Phone" option, to restore the newest version. However, it still won't boot properly. I get the LG logo when turning it on, and then the animation with the LG logo with the shiny effect on the smiley face keeps running in a loop. Is this the boot loop problem I've seen people asking about? How do I access recovery(and would that accomplish anything)? Any help would be appreciated.
Edit 2: I think I fixed it! I'm just documenting what I did to be helpful to other people. I had tried to do a hard reset earlier, but it didn't work. I tried it just now, and it worked, I got an droid with a progress bar underneath. Then it booted, and I heard the startup sound which I didn't know I was missing. I would still like to know in detail what I did wrong, and what I did right, and why it was right. Thanks in advance.
Simple, you probably did nothing wrong. Things just happen. I had this happen to me once. Security Error
However, I didn't install a custom rom or recovery img. All I did was flash a different kdz version (for my device). So my guess is that the boot img or other img, got corrupted.
I fixed my issue by flashing x, u, boot, recovery all in fastboot. Then I ran the flash update program again and it worked

How do you brick your phone. Did you try to hard reset it? Did you try offline flash or LG mobile support tool to recover your phone?
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if ever I'm posting this on the wrong section cause I'm not sure if this is a problem from android or samsung.
I'm not good at all when it comes to phone troubleshooting so I will try my luck and ask questions about what have happened to my phone just awhile ago. I got this phone from Japan(Samsung Galaxy SII Wimax isw11sc) months ago and I only use it for multimedia purposes as it is region locked and I am at another country atm. everything is running fine until my phone asked for a software update(not really sure what upgrade that was) and I decided to give it a shot and let it download the updates. I left it to do some chores and when I came back to check on it, it reboot looped itself on the AU(mobile phone company from japan) logo.
I did some research and found some things like hard reset and download mode. I tried to do the hard reset(power/home/volume up) method but I can't seem to access the settings instead, the phone keeps on showing me this "Preparing for S/W update. Please wait." after a few seconds, the phone will reset itself back to the reboot loop.
I tried to do the download mode using odin mode but then, I realized that my phone and computer won' connect via USB port because well, my phone won't boot. Also downloaded the manual driver but my pc won't recognize it.(win7 if that helps.)
Please tell me what have happened and what I can do to fix this problem, I don't really care if i lose everything that I have stored on my phone, I just want it to work again. Help will be much appreciated, Thank you.
Hey everyone,
I know there are countless threads on this but I've been up all night going through pages and pages of info and trying virtually everything that each post said to no avail, so I thought I'd just make a new thread and see if anyone can help me.
Okay, so, I had a rooted L9, with locked bootloader, on stock JB before I started any of this. Yesterday, I decided that I wanted to put Cyanogenmod 11 on it, yet, I have only managed to soft brick it.
Basically, it's stuck at the Security Error screen. I can get it into the S/W upgrade mode, however, when I do that and open the LG support tool the program just crashes. The Windows "not responding" error pops up, and the program closes. I have no idea why this is happening now, because the program was working fine before, but anyways, yeah. I have the shttps thing running in the background, and the connection is successful. I tried doing the offline fix countless times, but no luck. I have the UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe file, too, that I've been trying to use, however, as you all know, it just opens the lg program when you click on "upgrade start" and the program crashes. I tried doing the software upgrade through the exe file, but it doesn't find the port. Device Manager tells me the L9 is on port 9, but it looks on port 1 or 0, and doesn't find the L9.
I think that's basically it, and, if anyone can help me at all it would be very much appreciated (I don't really want to have to buy a new phone!)
If it is a security error than I think it would be easier to fix it from omap4boot mode with unofficial fastboot. Its a thread in this forum.

I have been reading everything I can find and tried to figure it out myself but the more I read the more questions I have and the less sure I am about trying any of the things I have read.
My problem is with an lg tribute from the company called Textnow. My friend ordered the phone from them and was having some issue she decided to try to fix by doing a factory reset which caused it to be stuck on the Lg boot logo. I tried booting to recovery to fix it. The recovery was TWRP. I was under the impression that Twrp was a custom recovery program that was installed after unlocking boot loader. Best I can tell is the phone was already rooted by the company. Does this sound right?
I messed with it for while but couldn't get anywhere with it because I haven't any knowledge of rooting except what I read . I noticed it kept saying something about simulating actions and figured that out but now after trying to back up and restore and poking around that it says there is no os , I was hoping someone could help me figure out where to go from here as it isn't my phone and I would hate to damage it although my friend keeps telling me to just try whatever no big loss because she can't use it like it is so.
I am not sure what the phone had for firmware because I cant get it on. I only know that it had twrp 2.8.5.0 as recover not the usual android. I can access the phone internal and external through twrp and though pc and adb. I made sure to get drivers updated. I tried to flash the stock rom from its forum but it failed,. any info would be mush appreciated
Help me help my 12yo nephew, Cricket "LG Risio H343" Bootloop & error message
I've been rooting and modifying my phones for years with the help of many of you generous members, and I have always appreciated it, but now I'm here for my 12 year old nephew now. He has a Cricket LG Risio H343, which I know is similar to the LG Leon, but I'm afraid to take any chances with his only phone. As a typical kid he believed it when a friend told him he knew how to root it for him, and as usual the kid was bull of BS. So now my nephews phone just goes into a constant boot loop at the LG screen with a red message at the upper left saying:
Boot Verification Fail!!
Cause: MISMATCH_SIG_LEN
If anyone has seen this and knows how to correct the issue I really appreciate the help. I'm no developer but I know enough to generally be able to get by when rooting and modding devices. I just have no idea what this dumbass kid did to my nephews phone. At this point I would generally just get the stock KDZ reflashed and be done with it, but after hours upon hours of searching the last few days, I can't find a single one for the Cricket model of this phone and I'm afraid flashing the wrong carriers files could make things somehow worse.
Could anyone please possibly get me a link to the factory Cricket Risio H343 KDZ file? direct me to one that actually exists, or walk me through some way to have his phone restored to factory and useable again. I really would appreciate any help you could give me, we can't afford to buy him a new phone for quite some time yet, so its important it get this working for him ASAP. So, please if anyone can help me, please let me know, because I don't know what else to do. Thank you in advance for any and all help you guys may have to share.
