Secure Folder app on S6 Edge - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've updated my S6 Edge to Android 7 (Nougat) through OTA.
Then I wanted to use Secure Folder app from Note 7 and S7.
I installed the apk without any problems.
But now when I try to run it ; it says "Secret Folder cannot be set up because unauthorized software was installed on the device"
How can I bypass this ?
Also, I am not able to uninstall the app. As a system app it has no uninstall option.
Thx.

how are you so sure ?
s-health works...

S Health will work when you upgrade directly without a wipe.. but this message will only pop up when knon is tripped

why should it be tripped ?
I didn't do anything illegal. I've updated to nougat through OTA.

Please think about anything you've done before..
Once rooted your device, you trip Knox and can't reset the counter

I can't remember anything I've done.
in any case let's assume knox is tripped; how can I run the secure folder app ?
any hacks to fake it?

Because my knox is tripped. Lol!
But some reports say it worked fine on some devices even though knox was tripped.

No I'm sorry.. once Knox is tripped you can't use Secure Folder in any way
Go and download My Knox from PlayStore. If this won't work too than Knox is definitfly tripped

[Q] What are the repercussions of tripping the KNOX counter?

I know it can't be reversed, and it could affect warranty/RMA policies, but are there any other consequences? Like disabled features?
Thanks.

I read yesterday that you may not be able to OTAs on the S5 if Knox has been tripped. I don't know if this is correct or not as you can't get OTAs if rooted anyways.
Strictly from hear say I think it disables private mode .

I have seen private mode working once knox was tripped. not for me however. but i am on a deodexed rom and have not seen private mode work on any deodexed rom yet.
I'm guessing a soft root exploit (without using Odin) would fix this problem. I think I'll wait a while and see if one comes out.
i rooted via method odin [SM-G900*] CF-Auto-Root
private mode working fine, finger scan, paypal .., everything is working as usual, no custom rom yet so far.
So when we lose ota ability.... Will someone here modify the update package so we can still get the update?

I still think you get OTA for it if on stock roms, just won't update using kies if I am not mistaken.

After tripping the counter you'll find that the check for updates under About doesn't work and gives you a message about your OS being modified. I confirmed that being rooted or not doesn't matter (unrooted, didn't fix it), using ART or not doesn't matter (flipped to ART then back, didn't fix it, also tried on another phone that never used ART, same thing), and modifying system files or not doesn't matter... it appears that once the flag is tripped you're done with *automatic* updates... what I don't know yet, since there hasn't been one to try, is whether we can still install an unmodified OTA file from recovery manually... it *may* just be the check that doesn't work but install still will, which would make this a non-problem in my mind. If it doesn't install though then yes, we'll have to look for someone to modify the OTA for us, or else we'll have to play the "wait for the tar, then flash image files individually and manually with ODIN from it" game (which may not work for the system partition depending on what you've done to it... at least on my previous Sprint S4, you *could* install an OTA if you were rooted so long as you hadn't changed anything else, and I *assume* the same will be true on a T-Mob S5).

[Q] Rooting via Kingo doesn't work on i9205

Basically, I tried to root my i9205 but all I got after rooting was the Security Notice "[Any app that requires root] attempted to access a secure area on your device without authorisation.
This basically means that the root actually worked, but it's blocked by freaking knox. How do I remove knox without root now?
(..I may not know where to post this thread in the correct section anyway, so pardon me for that.)

Did you install SuperSu as when you open that app it should detect that knox is present and ask if you would like to disable it..that is how it worked on my i527m mega after rooting.

Unfortunately no. When I open SuperSU, it says that there's no SU binary installed. Although I did already root with kingo. Should I root it again?

[Q] Usage of root and knox

If I were to use pingpong root, does apps(Titanium backup,viper4android,rooted uninstaller, etc) that use root trigger something? Like from System protection it says no unauthorized system changes detected, will it be triggered?
Also just to clarify, they don't trip knox aswell right?

The apps do not affect knox. But the pingpongroot apk will be detected as a malicious program.

Thank you!
Edit:
Actually, I have another question.
is it safe to disable and enable superSU?

I have never heard of anyone disabling supersu. It is the app you use to grant root access to apps that require it. I recommend you enable it.

I disable it when I use certain apps, they don't run if they detect root access.
I used something called rootcloak before, but I think xposed is not possible atm.

Wanam recently got Xposed working on the Galaxy S6.
However, it requires 5.1.1 and your warranty will be void.

I think it is safe. I just never personally have found any reason to disable it.

Alright, thanks man! Very helpful, will post back if I do run in troubles.
Thanks again.

Rooting using CF-Auto-Root shows FRP Lock, can still use the phone fine.

So i tried rooting my S6 edge using CF-Auto-Root, I got the correct files the correct version everything matching.
But during the process it fails and says "Custom Binary(RECOVERY) Blocked By FRP Lock" I restarted the phone and its fine but how can I root it, how can I bypass this if its even possible?

Install Kingoroot for pc.
Enable USB debugging on your phone and connect it with pc using USB cable.
Open Kingoroot, enable your net connection and click Remove Root button being displayed.
Wait for the process to complete.
By the way, if your concern is that payment apps like Samsung Pay are not working on a rooted phone, why don't you install xposed framework and use RootCloak.
RootCloak is a xposed module which prevents apps from discovering root privileges on a phone.
That's what I did when payment apps stopped functioning on my phone.

Yeah, if you can't unroot it you must flash it. It seem there is no tarball file available yet. Have you try to reflash stock rom using samsung kies?
