Error "system image upgrader failed" Multi ROM - Ubuntu Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
i try to install Ubuntu touch with the Multi ROM app. files downloaded successfully but when the installation boots into Recovery i get the error "system image upgrader failed" (see screenshot). after that i reboot to Multi ROM boot screen and select ubuntu installation to boot. that results in a bootloop of course because the installation is not completed/successfull and i end up in Multi ROM boot screen again.
i tried different versions of ubuntu touch but get the same error everytime.
is there a solution for this issue?
thanx for helping

Follow the link provided by sweetnsour above. Please note that ROM manager has some issues and I faced the same issue which you're facing. Use ROM manager only to flash the clockworkmod recovery. Once you've installed the recovery, you can do your backups/flashing from the recovery itself. And you can even uninstall ROM manager forever, as the recovery flashing is an one-time job. Its easier to use the recovery.

Oh I didn't know that coz the first time I installed the recovery, it was successful and after that when I faced the issue with backing up the ROM, I kicked ROM manager into the trash can and never used it

Just wait a sec
What do you mean with downloading
where do u try to flash the rom
via recovery odin or adb?
In general those error messages appear if there went something wrong with the signing procedure
this often happens with custom roms
Chances are a bad download, as above re download and try again before doing anything else

The zip file isn't recognized by the Rom I am using or recovery. I guess I should flash a Rom with fastboot: fastboot flash zip rom.zip.
I don't get it! I have flashed a stock Rom and these errors appear out of nowhere!? I guess I may have to format my sdcard.
Could it be a problem with sdcard partitioning?

How am I meant to return to stock now?
I have voided my warranty with HTCDev and now I can't use any ruu's at all, in case it does not work and my phone gets messed up.
I just had the same error... formating 3 different SD cards didn't work.
I couldn't do restore.
I couldn't use the rom I had installed a few month ago
It didn't make a difference the zip was downloaded by Internet Explorer or Chrome
Solution:The minute I installed a new version (i guess re-installing would work as well) of CWM it stopped giving that error.

The easiest way is to use the update.zip boot into stock recovery and keep hitting reinstall packages I normally have to do it three or four times. Make sure you have a new ROM to flash so that when it goes into clockwork finally you can flash it and keep root. If you don't flash a new ROM it will automatically take you to stock recovery every time you try to reeboot recovery

well, your device isn't official supported by clockworkmod or twrp developers, so your on a build someone built from source themselfs. Most likely if that person hasn't built a new recovery, you can't update.
So search for a newer cwm
Where can I switch for a newer cwm apart from play store?

if your android has root, you can use mtkdroid tools created by rua1 for auto cwm made.
you can go to link above.follow the guide.
manual option is easy too, try to read the instruction carefully.
i think that is only copy paste to make recovery.

Hey guys I have phone model name-: N9100 I don't know why is there any ROM for this phone?
Please share me a link if anyone know a ROM for this phone when I buy this phone the seller told me this is note 4 Korean.
Installation Aborted
Move ROM to your PC and extract it anywhere
Now go to Meta-INF folder and then navigate to /com/google/android directory
After reaching to above mentioned location search for updater-script and then open it with Notepad++
Now search for “assert(getprop(“ro.product.device”) == “devicename” || getprop(“ro.build.product”) == “devicename” ||” (exclude first and last quotes )
Now change device name to your device suppose if you have nexus 7 then change devicename to grouper. (Grouper is code name for Nexus 7 similarly you can find name for your device easily on internet)
That’s all but don’t forget to save file after editing. Then ZIP the file again and move it to your device using custom recovery.

[Xperia P][4.4.2][CM 11][CWM] "Installation aborted"

Hi,
I've been trying to install CM 11 based on Kitkat 4.4.2 on my Xperia P. The following are the details / steps followed:
- The bootloader is unlocked
- The phone is rooted
- CWM 6.0.1.2 is installed ( I think this is the latest available for Xperia P)
1) Downloaded CM11-RC1 from the links in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2626639
2) Modified 'updater-script' to get rid of Error 7
3) Extracted 'boot.img' and flashed it using FlashTool in fastboot mode.
After reboot, the phone stops at Sony logo and vibrates once.
4) Pressed the Power button to load CWM Recovery
5) Wiped Data, Cache/Partition, Dalvik Cache
6) Tried to install CM11-RC1 zip file using CWM
Now I get the message "Installation aborted", as soon as the installation begins, without any error code being displayed
I can't seem to get past this step, and don't know where I'm going wrong.
Can anyone please help me out?

Yes. The bootloader is unlocked. I did it myself following the instructions on the Sony website.
The installation shows an error 7 if I don't modify the updater script.

Could it be a version issue? Which one did you flash? I did RC1
Hey I had exactly the same problem. What I did was this:
I used Sony Mobile EMMA to re-install latest stock firmware.
After that I rooted it and Installed CWM 1.0 Nypon, I believe this is CWM somewhere in V6.xxxx (other versions wouldn't work for me..)
I also edited the updater script because it wouldn't pass the assert section, so I deleted this.
After that Recompiled it, (Zip format ofcourse) and copied it to SD card.
Next, I flashed boot.img and rebooted the phone after that. Then access CWM.
Now what I did was userdata/factory reset after that I deleted cache, and last but not least dalvik cache.
After that I flashed the recompiled ROM file and then It passed the status 7 error.
When that was finished I flashed gapps
This was what I did, becuz' I had exactly the same problem. I don't know if this works for you but you might give it a try.
(Sorry for bad Englisch)
(Make sure that your bootloader is unlocked! (To verify, I did try to unlock it again. Then I got a message saying that it was allready unlocked)

I flashed RC1 also, I tried almost all nightly's and the RC1 lol but they all wouldn't work before I used this sort of 'method'
Yesterday RC1 workied succesfully for me, today I updated to nightly 25 and everything works fine. Note that once you get passed the installation of RC1, that you can only access the CWM recovery with holding the power button, when your phone vibrates when you see the sony logo.. The CW11 comes with CMW touchable. Goodluck
And did it work?

Auful way way to "fix" things.
You can "fix" galaxy ROM to be installed on your phone and brick it permanently, it's already been done.
If you have flashed galaxy kernel you probably won't be able to boot but still able to recover.
Tha asserts are there for a reason.

Sp they released a ROM that cannot be flushed, is that what you say? And no one else reporting it?
Somehow I find it difficult to believe.
If you have followed the instructions I'm sure there would be no problem, or the instructions are incomplete, or there is some issue, either way it's up to the developer to fix it.
Avoid "fixing" errors in this manner or one day you may regret it dearly.

I have followed the instructions in a good way and this was the problem i have lived. Some of my friends lived this problem in a Turkish Forum and i recommended this way, they did it and flash the rom. I will give the link here; http://forum.donanimhaber.com/m_58138440/mpage_242/f_//tm.htm#87204228
My nick is ENG_civ on that forum. Everything is right about the rom but something goes in a wrong way, so this way makes the compiler not asking "is this right rom?", that's all. İn my opinion, if you are sure of the rom, there is no risk.
And i am new in this forum, and i couldn't write at development part, and this is the first time i am writing to a foreign language forum. So i couldn't reported them, and these rom's are not the final, so there could be faults on them i think.
