Tried to install CM 14.1 on my new Le Max 2 X829, but no matter what I tried I kept getting error 7.
I've looked around, but couldn't find any fixes for this. Any work arounds?
Thanks!
are you using twrp 3.1 from here?

I ran into this last night with AOKP and Lineage. I think it may be because other firmware (bootloader? modem?) was too old. I was coming from X829 16S vendor installed ROM.
Silly me tried to flash straight to AOKP without backing up (I thought why bother since I'm not interested in keeping the current ROM) only to get stuck with no system after AOKP wouldn't install. MTP from TWRP wasn't working either but I managed to sideload Small EUI and after that I was able to flash AOKP.
Anyhow, try installing some newer stock ROM or Small EUI first.

Thanks I'll try this tommorow.
You can format all in TWRP, then reboot to TWRP again and install small eui.
Any other way
I installed small eui the tried to flash Lineage os 16 but it now also gives error 7
Try TWRP 3.3.0, it worked for me, but not with 3.3.1.
I have seen many people asking about how to solve error 7 problem while installing custom ROMs. (Including myself)
Now I have found a method to fix it with the help of @ThE_MarD
So let's begin
1. Do QFIL (it repartitions you phone correctly)
2. Flash 19s firmware (or higher)
3. Treblize your device using this twrp . (Optional but highly recommended]
4. Flashed the latest official lineage os 16.(Optional]
For QFIL => https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-hard-brick-fix-qualcomm-hs-usb-t3492949/amp/
For Firmware => https://sourceforge.net/projects/lineageos-for-x2/files/Firmware Updates/
TWRP (with trebleize option ) => https://drive.google.com/file/d/11E0kRK2wf0qIgyNcYLgqjwoZUbap-57O/view

Hi, I am trying to install cynogenmod or mokee rom and the device always gets stuck at cyno/mokee logo. it never goes beyond that. tried to wait for half an hour(waited for one hour twice).
Here is what I am doing:
I used TWRP but it wasnt working so i installed CWM, in both the recoveries I was wiping everything except sd card storage as my zip files were in the card. after that i flashed zip files(ROM & GAPPS). after that i rebooted to system. Am I doing it wrong? I am currently on 4.4.4 stock rom. Need help.
Thank you.
No one to help?
How can TWRP not work on your device? Install again TWRP via adb.

The problem wasn't with the recovery and I wasn't doing anything wrong. It was really too bad to know that the rom version I was installing had a bootloop bug in it. So I had tried two previous versions but they too had the same bug. And unfortunately I tried CONTINUOUSLY for two long days to install those same bugged ROMS as if God has put me in frustration mode. Tech fooled me right, lol.
Grab the November 8 version of Cyanogemod. There are issues with the newer updates.
Hi there. I'm using Redmi Note 3 SD from quite some time. I've officially unlocked the bootloader and flashed many custom as well as MIUI Roms from time to time. But recently I'm facing a problem. I'm trying some Nougat based Roms but facing a weird problem. After flashing Rom when the phone boots up and setup screen comes than while setting up the phone screen crashes in some certain point and it starts from the beginning, it won't past the setup screen. I tried many Roms like NOS, AEX, Lineage but facing the same problem. I've used Nougat based Rom previously but was not facing this issue, it only started when i tried to flashed newer build. Am I doing something wrong. Please I need urgent help so any help will be highly appreciated.
Are u trying to flash the 7.1.2 based rom with 7.1.1 gapps. If yes then first flash the rom and boot, there will be no setup wizard this time and then flash the gapps

try clean flashing.
download latest gapps first
in case u get bootloop, download this- unlock_bootloader.zip
clean dalvik+data+system+cache,
then flash firmware+rom+unlock_bootloader.zip+gapps
(i'm using twrp 3.1.0.0 official by TheStrix, never faced such problem. follow my method mentioned above)

Flash by formating (not wipe) in twrp
Try clean install. Wipe data and system after backing up.
If that doesn't work, Check if any software is making that issue. In my case, not exactly same, but was stuck on boot after flashing super su.
When i tried to flash twrp using flashify. It didn't work for me. My recovery not working anymore. Fastboot not detecting my phone. What to do now to flash recovery??
Try using BeansGapps
I installed the 5.8.020S ROM (Stock EUI) for Le 2 instead of Max 2. Luckily it didn't brick my phone.
When I tried to roll back to Lineage 16.0 (Pie) it didn't work. Tried a bunch of ROMs, Lineage 15 works, some others work but no Pie ROMs. My phone also resets itself on Lineage 15 every few hours for no reason. And the pre-boot screen has changed to a penguin instead of the "Le Eco" one.
Is it possible that when I installed the Stock EUI ROM that the boot partition and kernel were altered and that if I can get those back it will fix all my issues?
Or is it more likely that this is a hardware issue/irreversible?
Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch in advance. : )
Heyyo, boot partition is the kernel partition, so that should be overwritten by new ROM installs so that should be fine.. but yikes! I'd highly recommend using a fastboot ROM installer for EUI ROM for x2 just to ensure your device is as x2 as possible.
You could try this one from cuoco92 and use a PC with fastboot to install it. I believe there is readme files for instructions on how to do so.
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620772795
If that fails? I would recommend qfil which will guaranteed reset your device to x2... albeit, with an older x2 developer build based on 5.6 I think? So from there I'd recommend upgrading to EUI ROM based on 5.9 like 19s and up before swapping to a custom ROM if you wanted to go that route.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-hard-brick-fix-qualcomm-hs-usb-t3492949
Good luck!
It worked! Lineage 16.0 installs and runs just fine!
Also the stock ROM fixed my camera issue (original reason for going to stock) but lineage broke it again. At least I know it's not a hardware issue.
Hi guys. I want to flash pixel experience rom on my poco f1. But the problem is i cannot find an updated thread. Some threads are mentioning to flash forced encryption disabler and some are not. Some are saying to flash orangefox instead of twrp. And one things is that many are reporting that they cannot restore the twrp backup of the miui 10. Since i bought the phone from india and i am working abroad where there is no xiaomi service available, i cannot afford a locked out device. And also this is my only phone that i use for personal and work related matters. I am on latest miui 10.3.5 global stable version and rooted with magisk using twrp hot boot method.
So it will be really awesome if some one update me with latest procedure for flashing pixel rom and please tell me if i can revert back to miui using twrp backup? I miss the stock android that much.
Thanks in advance. ?

Well flashing the rom is simple; since you are already on latest miui, there's no need to flash vendor-firmware separately. Just flash the rom and magisk if needed. There's no harm in flashing Dfe but its optional since latest twrp including ofx, pitch black, etc reads encryption. just make sure to remove your pin/fingerprints and both google and mi accounts before flashing other roms; just to be on the safe side. i havent tried restoring backups but i think latest twrps have fixed that issue. anyway if u want to get back to miui you can download full rom and flash it through twrp. always backup your imp datas

1. FED was used to disable the "Forced encryption". Most recoveries now support decryption. Although encryption is almost useless after unlocking the bootloader but you'll still find some lazy ass people like me who are still encrypted. If you like to disable encryption, just remember to flash FED whenever you flash a new vendor and or any ROM that comes with an inbuilt vendor (MIUI stock), otherwise your storage will be encrypted again.
2. Most recoveries here including orange fox are custom versions of TWRP. The recovery version one wants depends on the user preferences and the "extra" features available in some recoveries.
3. Nandroid backups work fine but you'll need to backup and restore "IMAGE BACKUPS" instead of the old classic backups. Backing up and restoring old classic backups ends in a bootloop due to verified boot.
I have the same questions as well. I'm about to upgrade my Redmi Note 7 to Poco F1.
Since the Poco F1 is a couple months old, there might be some changes on the method when flashing TWRP and custom ROMS. On my Redmi Note 7, I just flashed Orange Fox recovery and removed my PIN and pattern before flashing the custom recovery, then wiped data and internal storage.
The community suggests Orange Fox recovery because of its stability, other unofficial TWRP had too many bugs.
I didn't encountered the "encryption" scenario when after booting your device, the system will ask for the PIN and no matter what you entered, it won't accept it. I didn't even flash any forced encryption disabler on my Redmi Note 7 and didn't face any issues so far.
So my question is, is the Orange Fox recovery the best recovery for Poco F1? Do I have to flash the forced encryption disabler thing?
I understand that I have to wipe data(this includes wiping the internal storage-photos,videos and music) It doesn't really matter to me because I already saved my important files on my laptop.

If you are prepared to wipe/format data if required, then there is no need for DFE.
@tnsmani @RebornCheiko
Hi i am still on global 10.3.5 stable, rooted with magisk and twrp is not installed (only hot booted).
1. Can i just flash dfe on my current rom (because somebody said it will increase the performance)
2 what about ota update? If i just flash dfe Will it ask for any pin after doing ota update?? Or i can just update and then flash dfe again
3. Also i have one doubt. i flashed pixel rom few days back (just after creating this thread ?) and i decided to revert back to miui. So i restored my twrp backup of miui and got bootloop (only just now i found out you saying about the "image backup"). Then i flashed the 10.3.5 zip and vendr/firmware also. But after booting it asked me for pin. i had to fastboot flash the rom again. It wiped all my data. So what did i do wrong here. And if resotre miui using backed up image do i need to flash dfe??. Coz its really difficult to back up all the data in my phone every time i flash a rom. Thats holding me back from enjoying the custom roms. So any clarification would be highly appreciated. Thanks
I probably flash a different ROM / kernel combination every single day. Sometimes more than once a day. Right now I am on the latest unofficial LineageOS, with Optimus Drunk kernel and Pico Gapps. Sometimes I don't flash Gapps at all and go Googleless. I know, scary eh?
I only use one sim card so I have a 64gb SD card in the other slot. On that card I have a folder that contains copies of the latest versions of my favourite firmwares, ROMs, kernels, mods and backups.
I do a clean wipe each and every time I flash. I first format the data partition, then wipe all other partitions except the micro SD card and the OTG option.
Then I reboot back into recovery so the system has access again to the data partition.
Then I select my SD card and flash, in this order:
1) Firmware (only if changing to a different version).
2) ROM (if flashing MIUI, don't flash firmware, its included)
3) Magisk, always.
4) Kernel (flash after Magisk because some kernels want Magisk available during the flash)
5) Gapps, or sometimes MicroG (from Nanodroid)
6) additional mods
7) Backup file (from Migrate app)
I always make sure to backup data, photos etc either to my SD card or to a cloud service. I stopped using Titanium Backup when Migrate came out. It creates a nice flashable zipfile backup of apps, the apps data and permissions.
I can change ROMs, and be back up and running in 10 minutes like this. Its a real addiction! Lol. It satisfies my little OCD.
DFE (Disable Forced Encryption) is completely optional. In fact, I only ever flash it when I flash ViperOS because if I don't, encryption fails every time.
You aren't going to notice a difference in overall speed whether you're encrypted or not. I allow the encryption process to happen because I'm a human being with occassionally irrational feelings. For me, if my ROM has encrypted my data and SELinux is enforcing, I feel safer, even though its probably just placebo.
As far as ROMs go, PE is nice. Its got all the things most people need and its pretty solid and bug free. My personal preference goes with SiberiaOS, RevengeOS, LineageOS or if I'm feeling like MIUI, I go with MI-Globe version and remove all the optional apps and services removed (wish they also had an option to disclude Gapps) using their ROM Builder.
I hope this helps a bit.
Most of the time it comes down to trial and error really. Try all the ROMs and kernels and mods. There are lots of great combinations out there. Our development community is pretty good!
