This also happens when you have hidden some apps from android system or settings app using xposed module or something so first look at that
Secondly, if this is not the case then I recommend you to just do a simple factory reset
Hope this helps

You might have installed an updated version of settings.
If so, try uninstalling it with "Easy Uninstaller" from Play Store.

Hi -
Since upgrading to 2.1 I can't install anything from the Market... It allows me to download files, but as soon as it goes to the install step, the Market crashes and exits. The same happens each time I try.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Try rebooting

same problem here, market FC (process.com.android.vending force closes)
Same here. Updated today. Everything is working except the market. But my error seems different. I chose download an app an it just keeps stuck at the download started screen. Any suggestions?
It happen to me too today. It keep crashing on installing process.
This is what I do.
Go to settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Choose Market Application -> Click Clear Cache -> Click Uninstall, it will ask whether we want to uninstall market update. I go with Yes, and the uninstalling process proceed.
After that I start my Market application from Apps menu and when it started, it show TOS (Term of Services) which is of course I choose Accept. After that my market works again. But I don't know why it happen. Hopefully this can be help for you guys.
hey guys,
having the same problem here as well.
i had to reflash today due to a bad theme, and when i did so, i restored all files via titanium backup, went to the marketplace, and presto, same FC issue as experienced by others.
any of you had any success with any methods? i might just try to reflash again, if i have no luck....

Has anyone had the problem where non app store apps will not install. From the screenshot below I can hit cancel but pushing install will not do anything? Other than directly pushing any .apk to system/app is there a way to fix this or am I just missing something?
Thanx-

Sorry I can't see your screenshot, but, have you tried going into Settings -> Security -> check 'Unknown Sources'? Without this checked you will be unable to install any apps outside of the App Store.

Hello I have Xperia Z5 compact with Nougat. I have been very happy with it since Nougat but lately I noticed fb messenger could not be updated because code -505. I tried deleting it's cache and data but that did not help. Uninstalled it but can't install it again because -505. Then I tried deleting app data for play store and google play services but this did not help either! Now I am just without facebook messenger which is not very cool
Any ideas what to do?

Seems like the messenger data is still in the system although the app is uninstalled, you can't help it, you have to reset data

Please be more specific. I just want to fix this, so what do you mean by "you have to reset data"? Do you I go to filesystem, look for some messenger related folder and delete it? If yes then which one would it be?

You can't go inside the data of apps unless you're rooted, so your only choice is to factory reset your phone to delete all data...

It's not the obb file ?
I meant the Data inside the data partition which exist In:
../data/data/ and it's hidden from user by default, you can't access it unless you're rooted.
Oh my... I don't want to go through factory reset and set up of everything again so soon How easy you think would be the rooting and is there a chance that my current setup would survive that?

Not sure you can root, you have android 7, there is no temp rooting for it yet, and also if root failed then that might lead to a software brick, which can be solved by re flashing stock rom which is a bigger thing
So I'd vote for the "reset data"
My phone has YouTube version 12.16.16 installed when the newest version in the Play Store is 12.19.56.
However the YouTube page in the play store does not show an Update button, just an Open button.
I downloaded the latest version APK, but I'm getting an "App not installed" error message while trying to install the APK.
After doing some google searching I reset app preferences, cleared cache of the Play Store and the Play Services apps and restarted the phone. Afterwards I'm still getting an error while installing the APK.
Any advice?

Ah sorry.. you could try uninstalling updates from settings/apps and then updating again in the play store
Could you please guide me further? Are you running android O?
I entered apps info from the settings and could not find an uninstall updates button. I would expect the button to appear in the play store on the YouTube page, but it does not.

Under apps it is the "disable" button. It will ask if you want to uninstall updates, click OK and let it disable.
Now reenable it and install update from play store

When I disable YouTube it just gets disabled. I do not get asked any questions. I still do not know how to get updates.
Anybody has an advice?
Not any app should be disabled. It's hard to tell as we don't know all modifications you did to your system. It seems to be working for everyone.
Factory reset and done...

You have no idea what I'm talking about obviously
On earlier versions (not sure about on O), when you disable it'll ask you if you want to uninstall updates. You can then re-enable and reinstall the updates.

If you don't want root, flash twrp with fastboot, boot to twrp recovery, mount system, use twrpfilemanager to delete YouTube, use twrp to install stock recovery.img, boot system and install YouTube from playstore.
First you can try to download YouTube.apk from apkmirror.com and try updating manually.
Edit, sry you tried that already.
Good luck, root makes life easier

Keep calm. I didn't read your message.
What I am saying is that no apps should be disabled (not only YouTube) and that finally a factory reset would solve the problem.

That would take a lot longer than what I suggested. A full reset vs a two second fix.

Twice you quote my whole post but only answer the part you are interested in.
The suggestion that I gave after yours to re-enable all apps is valid whatever you say and includes your ''two seconds fix''.... I brought this to his attention because he's still asking for help.
So if your fix doesn't work OP can try this and ultimately factory reset.
Wow I don't intend to explain 3 times a so simple post. Take your time to read...

Nice bull****ting with your factory reset, lol
I was on O and had the new updated youtube tabs. After resetting it back to 7.1.2 the tabs didn't appear. Deleted the app from system with no luck.
Can you clarify on how you think a factory reset would solve this?
