Benchmarks - LG G6 Guides, News, & Discussion

I ran Google Octane benchmark on two LG G6's in the Verizon store today. Very disappointing, it got 5378 max. That's slower than my Note 5 which gets about 8500. I would have thought the G6 would be faster than the Note 5. Anyone else can corroborate this?

I'm not sure if this helps, but I scored 8997 in Chrome, and 11900 in Samsung Browser. This was using the Octane 2.0 web test.

Wait, so you ran this on an LG G6? Or a Samsung device? Since you used the Samsung browser, I assume it was the latter.

This morning I'm getting 9544 on my Note 5 using Chrome. Can the LG G6 really be that slow?

LG G6. I sideloaded the Samsung Browser for ad-blocking purposes. The browser itself runs really well.

I picked up a G6 today at Verizon, I'm also getting about 8500 on the stock Chrome browser. Funny how it's slower than the Note 5 on that benchmark.

How did you do this?

I'm pretty satisfied with the performance of the G6, but my gut feeling is that some things are unoptimized on the phone.

Basically follow this guide: https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...et-browser-almost-any-android-device-0176437/
The latest APK is here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...internet-beta-5-4-00-40-android-apk-download/

I switched from the stock chrome browser to the Chrome Beta browser and my Octane 2.0 score went to 9758.

Rooted/OC'd Rezound Vs. Galaxy Nexus

Is that app, correct? Cause the nexus and galaxy a II beats out the rezound. I don't get why.
PS.... Love my phone and wouldn't trade it for one of those two.

Funny, my girlfriend has the same case, lol.
Never used that benchmark app- but is it skewed by the fact that the nexus is running ics or is it purely hardware? Either way- I'm not too worried bout it- This phone flies now and will even more when we get aosp ics.
It looks like you're running ziggys kernel, can i ask what governor?
Yes the app is accurate.. I've gotten close to 6,800 w/ ziggy's kernel with performance governor. But don't freak out just cause the gnex has a lower score.. Benches are for fun! My friends Gnex at stock speeds on the HD rom runs just as smooth.

haha she rants and raves about how she wants Siri and the only reason she got an iPhone was so she could go on Facebook (she's 20). I show her all the crap I can do with my Rezound and she's like wtf why can't my phone do that? I showed her the two Siri clones (Iris and Cluzee) and explained that they were free and basically any Android phone could get that and we've had text to speech and speech to text for years. What really started it was at the end of last month we were in NYC; we were stuffed way back in TGI Friday's and she was complaining that she couldn't get on Facebook, I mentioned the Samsung commercial where they make fun of the iPhone and then was like wait I can show you. I streamed the commercial at 720P and it loaded instantly, she loved that!
*bump*
updated first post
Read a few reviews running that benchmark saying its inaccurate because its not fully optimized for ICS as well
That's what I was thinking and I looked at their app in the market and it doesn't mention anything about ICS, but then again two phones running the same (major) version of ICS should give reasonable results.

Chrome Beta
Chrome Beta seems to be faster than AOSP Browser based on this test, but real-world usage is what matters most. Anyone have any feedback?
Sunspider ran on CM 10.1 (1/10) Nightly + Deadline/Performance
On the positive, Chrome on the Nexus 10 is now as fast as the Chromebook, shame N10 didn't launch with this browser, it would have ruled the benchmarks.
The negative, try using www.theverge.com, IMO ASOP is still smoother, I now this is beta, but seriously Google please do not release Chrome v25 and still be less smooth than stock browser.
Beta is much much faster. Pages scroll without lag and loading times.

I'm going to try and duplicate it.
I would love to be able to stick with Chrome, as said elsewhere...for the syncing of bookmarks, browsing history, etc.
I would LOVE it.
But literally within 5 minutes of the beta download, same thing.
And I'm stock ROM, unrooted...so take that out of the equation.
If I can duplicate it, I'll post up a quick vid.
I've had it lock up to where I've had to power off/power back on. I've had it lock up for 30 to 40 seconds...then finally wake up, and I've had it just close without touching or using it (Reading an article).
http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/2013/01/chrome-beta-for-android-update_24.html
Apparently you can also now use GPU acceleration, and WebGL (I haven't tried it yet)
Literally, first page I went to on chrome beta, that works fine in chrome, locked up 10.

Chrome beta has now got to the point where it is my daily driver. AOSP still scrolls smoother and renders quicker, but the difference is small. Chrome loads pages quicker, and works better on limited internet connections. It also has much better compatability with weird sites than aosp.
Obviously there are still bugs to iron out, but its getting there! :good:
Ever since the Feb 1st update this as become my go to browser. Scrolling is now extremely smooth. As good as I've seen in most uses. It also renders pages extremely fast and has been stable as a rock. Nice to see Google finally catch up!

Pixel Launcher exclusive to pixel phones...

F*ck you google!

Yea right. What, are they going to lock down the .apk file somewhere?
Pretty much guaranteed Assistant will be a Pixel exclusive.
Don't see how they can lock down a software feature to a specific piece of hardware.

Yea I had it on my Nexus 6. I could care less about Google Assistant. I kind of like it for the house, though.
Simply put, I'm not one of the people who just talk TO my phone, especially out in public in a "look at what I'm doing" type of way...like the asshats that talk to Siri about everything.
The pixel phones have a proprietary SystemUI (GoogleSystemUI) or something, among other new google-specific components.
Google assistant is likely tied into some of that and will be incompatible with the nexus as a result.
+1
The Pixel launcher has already been released as an APK. I've been playing with it on an old Galaxy S2 running a wacky Marshmallow CM build.
To be honest, the only reason I even keep it on there is that it is marginally better than the CM default launcher. It has zero customization, the app drawer is stark white, and other than using a different gesture to get to the app drawer, works pretty much like the old Nexus launcher. It does have your most recent apps at the top, which is nice.
Google s new way of doing things is awful, I hate saying this but even Apple has better software support now. All this "exclusive Pixel software" s.....t is a big slap on the face of all the loyal Nexus users.

A feature to be exclusive could NOT be open source otherwise it's NOT exclusive.
This is what most of all alarms me.
With Pixel is Google becoming an OEM like Samsung, LG, HTC ecc?
If Pixel will have great sales impact what is the future of android?
Pretty disappointed about this Pixel. Not for hardware or crazy price but mostly for future implications that this change will bring.
Damned business.. So tired talking just about money..
I like both Slim launcher / Trebuchet launcher more than Pixel launcher.
Nova launcher will get all the pixel features icons and everything very soon, which is much more customizable.

Know that.Had OP3.I sold my G5 for OP3.Screen was Garbage & this was the reason I settled to G6.G6 has very good hardware, build quality, battery back up like all their phones but software & optimisations suck. I'm hating LG now only cause of their software support. One plus doesn't compromise on update.
Although it's taking an eternity to upgrade my H870DS to Oreo, I still love my G6.
It works awesome, has a great camera and is very fast and fluid.
You have to change your viewpoint. Be like my wife, she hates updates. You have to restart your phone, and she especially hates the big updates that change the look of things...
Do we have any news about release date of the Oreo Update for the H870DS? As the single-SIM devices already have the Android 8.0 upgrade, I expect the firmware for the dual-SIM ready for OTA within two weeks. Which will match the statement by LG "to be released for OTA in June 2018".

Question Oneplus 9R is Still worth it this 2022?

I would like to ask if Oneplus 9r is still worth it to buy this 2022?
I've seen alot of negative comments about the updates of oneplus and the news that it will be discontinued?
ColorOS for OnePlus's update progress is a bit slow...OOS 12 RIP(for it is based on Color instead of OOS)...
However it runs smoother if you use a custom ROM.
was the update for 9r stable or not? cuz i'm planning to buy to this phone, my only concern is that the update if it is stable or not

How to go back to coloros? Like u got color os msm tool for 9r?
I have a 9R, it's a superb phone. I have absolutely no issues with it. Like it's totally super great. Not trying to be sarcastic. Only one downside - the phone can't go SUPER loud call volume. But unfortunately this plagues the 9 Pro as well - and the 8T which is the same internals as the 9R minus the SOC.
And for some reason the call volume thing only happened to like one-two people. I bought a 9 Pro to alleviate the problem and guess what? Still can't hear crap. OnePlus phones are just generally more quiet than a Pixel 4a or a like a Samsung flagship.
But yeah, if I were to buy a Samsung, I'd spend like 1500$ on the phone, and the updates would slow it down to a crawl within a few months. I've had like Note 4, Note 9, Note 10+ and they all been the same.
So yeah. Good phone.
- Great GPS signal
- Great sound
- Great performance, no overheating/heat problems
- Battery has been solid, though, 1 day with heavy use (well you can buy a 6000-7000mAh "phone" with 250g weight if you want more lol)
I've been also using the ColorOS on my 9 Pro for a while now. Honestly, it's not so bad. Been a bit rough on the edges at start but you can live with it and updates will fix these minor problems.
